City Council - Regular Meeting

Hello Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, City Council Members, and members of the public. This is Luly Lopez, Oxnard City Clerk. Today I will discuss the proposed 2027 regular meeting schedule for the City Council and City Council Committee meetings. the recommendation is that the city council community development commission successor agency financing authority and housing authority adopt the proposed regular meeting dates for the calendar year 2027. this item did not originate in committee on november 13th 2028 the city council adopted ordinance number 2949 amending Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 2-1, and adding Section 2-1.1 to the City Code regarding the regular City Council meeting schedule and establishing City Council committees to take effect January 1, 2019. Pursuant to Oxnard City Code Section 2-1, the City Council is scheduled to meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Pursuant to Oxnard City Code Section 2-1.1, City Committees are scheduled to meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. The City Council may also schedule additional meetings or Council scheduled meetings as necessary. Staff proposes the following regular meeting dates for the City Council, Community Development Commission, successor agency, financing authority, and housing authority for calendar 2027. The following Tuesdays are excluded from the regular meeting schedule. and this would be for the month of August. So August 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24, the city council recess for the month of August. The proposed schedule includes a total of 25 regular city council meetings and 21 city council committee meetings. So 25 regular city council meetings and 21 council committee meetings during 2027. the City Council retains the authority to schedule additional special meetings as necessary. Pursuant to Oxnard City Code Section 2-1.1, regular City Council meeting sessions shall begin no earlier than 5 p.m. as outlined in the Council Procedures Manual. Public hearings are generally scheduled to begin at 6.15 p.m. unless otherwise directed by the City Council. Closed sessions are typically scheduled to begin as early as 4.30 p.m. when necessary. Residents are encouraged to participate in city council and committee meetings either in person or virtually. Meetings are also broadcast on Spectrum Channel 10, Frontier Communications Channel 35. In addition, meetings are streamed live and archived on the city's YouTube channel which can be accessed through the city's website at www.oxnard.gov forward slash city dash meetings. The 2027 meeting calendar will also be included in the weekly neighborhood packet. This concludes my presentation. Thank you for your time.
