These special signs have an enormous importance because they are brave tribute soldiers who have done much more than usual in service, sacrifice, readiness and performance. Every coin honors the combat forces Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force and POW-Lash in the IA. The first coin was handed over to Sergeant Major Wade after the proclamation last month. And today we honor our last remaining veteran, Daryl Wilson. Daryl Wilson is an Army veteran who served over 30 years proudly and honorably. He began his journey in West Point and qualified himself as an infantry officer and ranger. Daryl stood as a commander-in-chief after an outstanding and diverse career, in which he won the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and numerous other awards. After his return to Washington County, he continued to serve others in the community and is a former mayor of Putnam. His commitment to our community and to the next service, in addition to his honorable service, is the reason why he was nominated for this coin.

First of all, thank you to everyone who was involved in the process. I'm not sure if I deserve this, but I would like to take this in the name of all veterans from Washington County who have served and continue to serve our communities. Thank you.
