Hi Francois.
There we go. Hello. Hello.
Hi, Faraheem, how are you?
Hello, hello, how are you?
Good. Just going to give it a couple more seconds, see if Jose pops on before I open.
Happy Cinco de Mayo.
Happy Cinco de Mayo. I have a cold, so excuse me. I know, it got me. I've been good for months.
You're not supposed to get a cold in Miami.
I know.
It must be the air conditioning, right?
Yeah. No, it's allergies, right? It's allergies. I had it too. It lasted like two weeks. No, please. Oh, here's Jose. Here we go. So, call to order at 631. Roll. Susan. Here. Raheem.
Yes.
Francois.
Yes. Yes.
Jose.
Present.
Hi, Jose. How are you? Good.
How's everyone been?
Good.
Long time no see, Jose.
Yeah.
Well, I know we... It's been about three months. I missed the meeting last month, but I think we canceled one, so yeah.
Yeah, we've canceled two, yeah.
Yeah, it's been a while. It has. Okay, my camera's not working for some reason, Lydia. Okay. Zoom snafu. So I can get it going. I'll get it fired up. But just give me a warning. I know how much you love the cameras.
Yeah, I think it's important. Okay, thank you. I need to approve the minutes for March 3 meeting. Can I have a second?
Francois Farheim, I think that would be one of you, please.
I'll be second.
Thank you. Is Kelsey on? Don't see Kelsey on. Okay. So then I was going to skip to new business, but I don't see her on here. So let's continue then. Do we have an update on the 5k run collaboration with city of Miami beach? Lily, would that be you?
Nope. I think last time we talked about it being maybe Jose and the vice mayor.
Is the vice mayor joining us? I thought he was. Let me text him.
Please. Last I heard, because I had asked about it at the last meeting too. I mean, it was a long time ago. I was surprised to see that on the agenda. But last I heard, we were moving off doing it in North Bay Village and we were going to do a portion of it here and we were going to team with Miami Beach to do something. And I wasn't too keen on that idea. I still loved the idea of doing a North Bay Village 5K like we used to do. And what was the other point that came up? And at one point when Julie was around, I had... we'd had a meeting, this was last year, I want to say, or like five, six, seven meetings ago. And I had reached out to the company that Julie had, had been talking to. And I guess I kind of got ahead of myself because I was like, all right, let's pick a date. Let's go, let's do this. And we were, we were trying to figure out how to fund it. Right. And the pricing wasn't that crazy. I want to say it was like five grand, six grand or something, you know? So that's basically what I remember. But Vice Mayor Cook just joined, so maybe he can give us an update. But last I heard, we had moved off that, and we were looking to partner with Miami Beach on the 5K.
Go ahead. Sorry.
No, go ahead.
I was going to say, yes, that is correct. And I did share this or ask for an update from the Miami Beach side, and they're working on it. They put together a route, and the route would go from basically from Palm Tree Club through Normandy Golf Club and to the bandshell and then end up at the bandshell with a big event. So the next step is figuring out what permits and things are needed from their side in terms of – closing down the roads and that kind of stuff. We should get an update on that pretty soon, probably by the end of the week. Oh, and as for timing, we were going to look at Q4 probably around October, November, December when it's a little cooler.
Okay.
My only comment here. But I'm open to comments from you guys. If you guys want to do, because we do have some money set aside, if you guys still want to pursue our own 5K, we can. The reason I wanted to do it, partner with Miami Beach, is because the idea is to not have any cost for this. Because if we can roll ours into theirs, and we can, because I asked their commission, I went before the Miami Beach work board, we can, if we do it together, I told them we won't have a budget for this. I can help fundraise at least $5,000 for it through corporate sponsorships. But they were aligned with that. The only cost for us would be just the marketing of it. So Given some of the financial circumstances that we have at the village right now, I felt it was best to try and save money if we can. But we do have money set aside for a 5K. So if you all feel it would be good to pursue our own as well, we can also look into that. So open to feedback from the board.
So, no, thanks for the update, Vice Mayor. So what I would say is, and you know, this has been something I've been trying to do for the past few years, like ever since, you know, you and I have talked about this in the past. For me, just hearing what you mentioned with, I guess it just starts at the Palm Tree Club and then goes into Miami Beach. That, to me, is not a North Bay Village 5K, right? I'd love to see something that's here, brings out our families here, which that one could as well. But I just love the idea of having our own 5K. That's just my personal opinion. When we had looked at this about a year ago or I want to say I had reached out to the company that Julie had mentioned and I don't remember it you know being so cost prohibitive I thought it was somewhere in the five to seven K range and I understand we definitely want to keep a fiscal responsibility to you know lower cost but I thought you know the the pros outweigh the cons in terms of having a family community North Bay Village event the ones we've done here in the past Frank, you're on. You probably, I don't know if you remember, we did one and probably I want to say 15 years ago was the last one I remember doing. But, you know, now that we've got some new, you know, we've got the community center coming, we've got things coming. I think it would be my opinion, and I'll open up to the other board members, is I'd love to see something sponsored, owned, and operated and done by the village. But I understand that may be easier said than done. That's my opinion. Lydia, Susan, Farheen, Francois, any thoughts?
I think that partnering with Miami Beach is a good idea for now, especially because we are tight on budget. And that at least will open up the doors and get everybody, because we have a lot of, I mean, it's been many, many years. I don't even remember our 5K, and I've been here 15 plus years. So it would get the community excited about it. And then once we have, hopefully next year, more money in the budget, maybe we can do our very own. It also might seal the, you know, The deal between Miami Beach and us, we're working more as a community together on things, which I know Commissioner's been working on as well. So that might be, it might be twofold.
You're right. It was about 15 years ago. So when we did the last one. But yeah, no, that's good. I agree.
I agree. I agree with Lydia too. When I first moved here, the zip code where's Miami Beach? And where I live, it said Miami Beach. And when I said North Bay Village, everyone went like, where is that? So, and I think the bandshell is a nice place to end it. So part of the reason you run is to enjoy the environment and there's not much space. The reality is there's not much space in the village. So it's better to face reality and...
That was one of the challenges that Frank and Janice and I discussed when we were talking about doing it in North Bay Village is that we can't do it on the causeway because it's an FDOT road and it's going to be hard to close down on our own. Whereas if we get Miami Beach involved, it's easier. That helps carry a little bit more weight and we can You can probably get that small part of the causeway closed down from Palm Tree over. And then from there over, it becomes Miami Beach roads, which are very easy. They can just do that quickly. So that was one of the challenges. If we were to do it in North Bay Village, I believe the only place we could do it would be running around a couple laps around Treasure Island. Now, Frank and Janice, would you correct me if I'm wrong? Is my understanding correct?
No. No. Vice Mayor is Frank. You're correct. There weren't a lot of choices. We ran one when I was there, so I know it was in 10 years. But it ran around Treasure Island. It ran on North and South Treasure and East and West Treasure. And there were several loops. And then we had a couple of tents set up at the, I think we did it at the Children's Park.
Yeah, it ended at where the playground is now, the Pirate Park. Right, right. And there was – sorry, go ahead, Frank, sorry.
No, no, I'm saying there was quite a bit of participation. As I recall, it wasn't just a couple of runners. There was a crowd that showed up and ran.
Yeah, and we did run on the causeway. We ran. I ran it, so it was – I ran in it. I didn't run it. But you're right. We zigzagged through the streets of Treasure Island. And then there was a small portion on the causeway. And we took a right on, you know, Hispaniola and then went back around. And it was three miles. It was still, you know, but it wasn't, from what I remember, as logistical damage. a big logistical problem. This was a long time ago. So maybe that's changed, but that's it. And I'm not totally opposed to doing the Miami Beach thing. I like Lydia's, you know, thoughts on maybe this first one we do. And as we progress, my thing would just be eventually if we could do one here, that'd be great. It becomes a community event. It becomes, you know, something we can add to the list of events we have that I think would bring people out because it's about, promoting good you know a healthy event you know where you're promoting exercise families you know you know 5k run walk whatever i mean i remember there was tons of families and there was people rollerblading in it and stuff you know it just brought everyone out i just remember thinking it's a great event so if we're gonna wait till the fall and partner with miami beach why can't we start at the community center instead of the palm tree club
And then it's more in North Bay Village. It's our community center where the community should be gathering. And then you're starting in North Bay Village and you don't even have to cross the causeway. You're on the same side of the street that you would go over the bridge towards the beach.
That's what the 5K Rat does every Monday. We start in front of the community center and we go right for him.
And then I think also you charge registration fees. So people have to pay to register to run in it. And then this community in the city, we're making a little bit more money. We'd have to split that with Miami Beach if we're doing it with Miami Beach. But yeah, there should be a registration fee.
Great call out. I think you're spot on. I had forgot about the registration because every 5K, I just ran into 5K this past weekend and it cost 35, 40 bucks a pop, right? And I think we could get people to, people would pay it maybe, you do a discounted rate for North Bay village residents and you do anyone else who wants to join, you know, on North Bay village. Cause you know, we'll get some people who do 40 bucks or whatever. It could be a, you know, that's a great point, Susan. You know, we can make this, you know, I don't know that it'd be a revenue generating event, but it could at least be a cost neutral event. If we were to, you know, you got to register for it.
And we can get sponsors, you know, for water and different things. And I'm sure if we do with the bandshell and ended at the bandshell, you know, they're, they're great with that type of stuff as well.
Yeah. I like the idea of bandshell. Farahim, as the, as the founder of the runners club, your, your comments here, I think are, are very much, you know, we want to hear as well. What do you think?
I was saying, um, if we can start, yeah, somewhere, maybe, uh, from Chalga station or somewhere more getting more village, more involved. I don't know how hard it is closing the roads for us, but if we can make it in village more involved, that would be nice. But I do not pay for the running, uh, I don't like paying for running and so I would love to make it free if we can or at least for North Bay Village residents and Miami Beach residents free and the others have to pay. So Yeah, like, these are my comments. Either read for us and start making North Bay Village more involved in that.
I mean, if you do the quick math, say we get 250 people at a minimum, which I think we would get more, times 25, that's $6,000 right there. I think that's about the cost of this. So, I mean, I agree. It's not... um you know ideal to to charge but every other 5k that i run we pay for like i i always pay like i do the turkey trot every year i do you know we always do runs i don't think i've done one yet that you don't pay for so yeah there's always a fee there's always a fee Yeah, yeah. So just something to think about. I'm still a big fan of doing it more inclusive North Bay Village, but I'm not opposed to joining with Miami Beach either. But I think to Susan's point, why don't we start a little more entrenched in North Bay Village? And if we can look at charging a registration fee for it and you get, you know, probably be cost associated that like that. there's other things that come into play do we get a t-shirt you know do they get medals you know like some of these do maybe the first year we don't do that and we just build momentum about it and I think you know by the second third year we can raise registration fees maybe we can start adding t-shirts and things but it's more just getting it off the ground so Commissioner do you know if Miami Beach is charging a registration fee
I believe the intention was not to charge registration fees. But I've heard some good feedback here, good comments. You know, I do like the idea of doing our own and doing Miami beaches. And I'm just trying to think. I... I think the timing might be good to do one here as well because now we're getting the community center open in June. So it's good that we waited because there's a walking path there. We could do a whole circle or loop around there and then around the houses and then end off somewhere at the community center, maybe in front of the community center, one of the big fields. And I think that would be pretty cool. and a good way to kind of commemorate the opening of the community center.
Yeah, I agree. If the community center opens in June, probably still too hot in the summer, not 95 days, you know, go on in the summer, but maybe we do it like in September or after the community center is open. And we use that as like, oh, hey, look, here's one of our first big events. It's kicking off at the community center. It's a North Bay Village 5K event.
i think it's yeah i think it's a good idea and the community center and all the fields won't won't really be all open by june anyways um it's we're just gonna be like the community center will be finished but some of the fields will still be wrapping up and the paddle courts may not be done yet uh those might take the month of june so you know i i think september october by then will definitely be in full swing in terms of operations having people on the ground having things kind of running smoothly so it'd be a better time to do this anyways yeah and when the weather of course yeah but i'm also thinking you know if if we do this uh you know it doesn't have to be a very costly kind of thing i mean we've got a run club already we've got our own village pages where we can promote this um you know i can i can sponsor food snacks things like that you know tents I think we can make this happen for $5,000 or less. And I can probably find sponsors to cover even that as well.
We could find sponsors and even North Bay Village businesses could do like we do when we do the National Night Out or any of these other events where we have them set up tables. Maybe we don't charge them, of course. Absolutely. We get them to...
Yeah. As for the charging, I'm not, I'm not a huge fan of charging just because all of our events are free. It might, it might kind of, it might stop a lot of people that would want to show up from showing up. And also it would be a little bit difficult to kind of police or track that, like who is, who's registered, who's not. It's just, it adds, it does that a little bit more of a layer of complexity because who's to stop someone from Treasure Island just running out of their house and just joining the 5k. Yeah. Something like that.
I mean, it's... Well, you have to have numbers, like any race. You have to get a number, yeah.
Yeah, you register, you know, and then you can't run. And it's kind of honor code. Like, you know, there's 5Ks now that happen through residents all over Florida. I don't see many people running out of their house to join. It happens.
You know, I think, I think also it'd be really fun to come up with a theme and then like, you know, maybe we don't want to do t-shirts, but we can encourage families to do things together and they can go on Etsy. Like my, my, my family, every time they do anything, there's t-shirts. The whole family gets t-shirts made on Etsy. So it's like we could encourage people to do themes amongst their friends and family and come in groups.
We could do something where – I love where you're going with this. We could do something where like set your own team, like the corporate run every year where you can't run unless you're on a team. And you encourage households and families and neighbors to form their own teams. And then whatever, okay, maybe we do a $10, $15 registration fee or something like that. You get more people to do it. And then portions of that will go to a charity that we pick or something like that. You know, the village pigs. I mean, there's so many ways we can skin this cat and not cost a lot of money. So my ask would be, you know, Goran, Vice Mayor, is, you know, what do we need to do to get this moving? We've been kicking this can for two plus years more, and I'd love to see some movement on it.
Yeah, well, I will leave that up to you guys and your recommendation. If you all want, pick a date and decide if you want to charge or not, which sponsors you'd like to make or not, if you want to do bibs, and we can put it into motion. We can handle the city. The city will handle everything, of course, from communications and any logistics that we have to do with police, with the community center. So we'll handle all that. But I do want this to be driven by all of you here on the board in terms of everything that you all want to do. Sorry.
Jose, why don't you get with Frank and see if you can pick a date that would work for the village? And then we can take it from there. What do you think?
I can take that action item. And I'd love to. So, you know, I mean, if you just look at we're in May now. So June, July, August, September. Are we thinking like September, October? Is that what, you know, that gives us five months of planning.
I would think like October, November. So it's not so hot. Further out of hurricane season.
October, you got Halloween. November, you got Thanksgiving. So we got to keep that in mind. What about Olympics?
Early October, October 4th, Sunday, October 4th.
October would be a great month to tie it in with Halloween, and you could have people running costumes, too.
Yeah, having some team and the costumes just sounds good, yeah.
I think we'd want to keep it separate from Halloween because we already have a Halloween event. I guess we could. Maybe we combine it with before we do the spooktacular event we do every year, we do our 5K. I guess I could see that too.
What about doing it as a Thanksgiving theme and doing it in November before Thanksgiving? Like a turkey trot, like you said. Yeah.
When I brought that up before, I know that the city employees, you know, are off around that time. So I remember everyone saying like any time but Thanksgiving because a lot of people go and visit family.
Not even at Thanksgiving, like maybe the Sunday before. Yeah. November 22nd.
Yeah. We need to speak with the city. We need to speak with Frank and make sure it works out with everybody and then take it from there for sure.
Okay, Frank. Well, it sounds like maybe sometime in October. So I know how to reach you. I can reach out and put some time on your calendar and we can nail down a date. Does that sound okay?
It's fine with me. I think that we need to, and I try to attend all the board meetings. And I want to remind you that you're an advisory board to the commission. So we deal a lot with the administration, but then for us to take action and do things, we need action by the commission. So I think what you should do is put together what you want to do and make a motion. You all pass it, and you present it to the commission saying that we want to do this as our recommendation. Then the commission will discuss it and take whatever action they take, and they will give direction to the administration of what we're to do.
And that's for that clarity, because I think that's what we were getting tripped up before. And, and that's why, you know, when Vice Mayor said that, I thought, I thought the commission has to approve this to use validated that. So I agree.
In the past, what has happened is yes, we have agreed on an event, for example, and then Vice Mayor would bring it to the commission on our behalf with the details.
That was a very constructive suggestion.
Yeah. It needs to get before the commission because it is going to formalize things. And then it's going to get to where the administration now, you know, we got to have police, we got to have a cleanup. All that kind of stuff. And how do we do that? How do I handle the overtime for who's got to be there? So. Somehow these different events need to get before the commission. If the vice mayor takes it, that's fine too. But just so that the commission takes some action to the administration to Do it. Correct. Understood.
So I think what we should do is and keep me honest here, Lydia, is maybe we can't do it on this call right now, but for the or maybe we can. I think we can tentatively say we want to do it in October. But I think to Frank's point, we've got to iron out the details on. The date, what type of event it is, you know, are we doing like teams, all those little details. So do we wanna table it for the next board meeting and then maybe, you know, I work independently to kind of put something together and then we all kind of vote on it or something or something.
Jose, if you can get with Frank and get a date and then work out some of the points we just discussed and then we'll put the motion together at the next meeting. And then we can present it to the commission or vice mayor can present it for us, whichever way we're going to go.
Well, I think we picked the date, like to Frank's point, like we come up with our own proposal and we're like, okay, we want to do this. You know, advisory board is saying we want to do this on October 4th. Here's what we think we should do. We want to do a family run where we get teams to sponsor it. We'll get businesses to be there. We'll start it here, do all that. And then we put our formal proposal together. Then we take it to vice mayor. He puts it on the agenda at a next commission meeting or when he can. And then the commission will say, then they'll start to, if you've been to a commission meeting, you know, they'll look at the proposal and be like, well, we like it or we don't like it. We like it, but let's do it this way instead. And then we get some formality around it and then it's in play. So I think those are the steps.
The number one thing we need is the date. So if you want to talk to Frank right now on the call and get a date, that's completely fine. But I didn't want to do that.
I've written down the fourth. We can work around that and that you're looking for the cooler months and then we'll you know, that can be changed. The vice mayor mentioned about budget. I don't have my budget booking from me, but I'm not 100% convinced that that was budgeted this year because the original discussions we had was that we were going to fundraise to do the event. So I'll look at the book when I go in tomorrow and see exactly where we are with money. But money is tight. I can tell you that right now.
It's very tight. I agree. I can clarify it's not budgeted this year. And if I could also make a suggestion about the date. So I handle our master event calendar for the city, which I cross-reference with ALBA for the meetings and the police department for their events and anything else going on. Um, I think at least for proposal purposes, just narrowing it down to a month or two that you guys would want to do. Um, cause right now I try to plan as far in advance as I can. Um, but things always get thrown in last minute and October is a busy month for us. Um, So I think if you guys can tentatively pick what month I can work with that and try to come up with a date based on our event calendar.
Okay. Great feedback, Lily. So we could be like late September, October, something like that are the months we would target. I don't think September is too bad either from a weather perspective. So no, thanks for the clarity there, Lily. And so let's do that. And I can put something together for the next meeting where maybe I'll just put like a loose presentation together where, and then I'll bring it to the board on the next one. And then we all decide, okay, yes, let's do that. We tweak whatever. And then we get it into the hands of Lily, Vice Mayor and Frank to decide and see if we can get the commission to approve it.
Perfect. Thank you, Jose. And thank you, Lily. I didn't know you were the master of the calendar. One more hat for you.
Yeah.
Okay. Awesome. I see that. Are we good to move on? Are there any other comments for this?
I'm good.
Okay. Thank you for taking that on, Jose. I see Officer Polanca has joined us. I didn't think you were going to be with us. Jessica, you on? Yes. Not sure if she's on or not. Okay, she's not answering. So maybe she's not able to answer. Hello? Hey, how are you?
Good, good. How are you? I didn't think you were going to be on. Happy birthday. Thank you. Thank you.
Yes, happy birthday.
Happy birthday. Thank you. Thank you all. So as far as PD events, this Saturday, we are hosting the North Bay Village Police Department Bike Rodeo. It's going to be co-sponsored by Commissioner Acosta. And it's going to, we're going to have also, I reached out to Acaibo. They're in Granby Palace. They're a new business. I invited her just like with National Night Out. I invited our local businesses to participate. She's going to be there. Kyle is going to be there. I'm going to have a local bike shop be there to do bike checks. We're going to have a bike course. Commissioner Acosta is going to be fitting the kids for helmets. We're going to have a bike raffle. So that's this Saturday from 8 to 10 on the west side of 1666 Kennedy Causeway Building. And we are... Tentative schedule for the hurricane workshop is Wednesday, May 27th, but seems like there's a scheduling conflict. So that's, as of right now, that's tentative. But that's the hurricane workshop that we host annually with a meteorologist from Channel 7 and Assistant Chief Richard Weisman will be there. He is our emergency manager. He'll be giving some information on this upcoming hurricane season. So those are the two PD events that we have coming up.
Is there any update on the Crime Watch, the outreach program?
No, I remember the last meeting, Jose had... disgusted um i have sent out some emails to some people that had shown some residents that has shown some interest in becoming a um crime watch captain but unfortunately i haven't heard back um so i'm that's that's on me i dropped the ball there i got the flyer ready i talked to a bunch of neighbors and i just haven't done it yet so i'll own that um
And I talked to a bunch of neighbors and they were like, yeah, let's do it. And I was going to go put flyers. I was going to just start with Cutlass because I think that's what we had discussed was like every street has to kind of do their own captain.
But there's other residents that I had reached out to for other streets that had shown interest. So, you know, ideally what Crime Watch wants is a captain per street. So so that's that's how they do it. I also sent out the flyer to several of the of each treasure buildings. I sent it out to Moda to 360 because there's a apartment crime watch. And as of right now, I haven't received any feedback or or any interest so far.
So from my perspective or for what I had brought up before, and my apologies for not advancing it more, I'll own getting Cutlass started. And I think that that'll be a good staging ground for maybe promoting it to the other streets on Treasure Island. Can't speak for the condos, even though I own a condo here too, so maybe I can get that going there. But I'm going to focus on just Cutlass. And what I'll do is I'm going to go put flyers on all the – neighbors on Cutlass and say, hey, on this date, we're having a, you know, I'll put like a tent in my yard. I'll invite all the neighbors over. I'll coordinate with you, Jessica, like we had and then invite you to that meeting. And then I think what we had discussed is you'll come and discuss like best practices and, you know, what to do, you know, in the event of something suspicious, say something, see something, all those best practices. And we start with Cutlass. So I'll own Cutlass. getting Cutlass started and then, you know, I'm not sure if any of the other board members are on streets where they would want to maybe be captain. I could be captain for Cutlass or if another resident wants to, another neighbor wants to do it, that's fine by me. I think there probably would be interest from some of the other neighbors I have to do it, but let me go hand out the flyers I did for just Cutlass and then we'll start there. That's my commitment for at least getting Cutlass kicked off.
Thank you. That'll be great. I believe once we start off with one street, it'll get the ball rolling for the other streets to show interest. Usually for the day of the Hurricane Watch workshop, we usually also have a Crime Watch meeting. Unfortunately, the gentleman that's our liaison at Crime Watch is no longer there. So I'm trying to get a hold of somebody else to see if on the day of the hurricane workshop, we can have a North Bay Village crime watch. And hopefully from there, more residents will show interest in becoming captains. Thank you.
I just had a question on the bike rodeo. The bike rodeo, is that just, are they going to ride anywhere or it's just like everyone hanging out with a bunch of bikes?
No. So it's a bike safety day where we're going to be educating the kids on bike safety. We are going to have a course on the west side of the building. My traffic team is going to set up a bike course. You know, because of staffing, because of logistics, we can't have a bike ride per se on the causeway. But it's going to be on the west side. We're going to be giving out helmets and also, like I said, I'm going to have a bike shop there. They're going to be checking the bikes, making sure the seat height is appropriate for the child, making sure the tires have enough air. So it's a bike safety day as well. But we are going to have a bike course on the west side. But because of staffing and logistics, we can't have the kids on the causeway so it's going to be on the west side um before uh i know a few years ago when we had the last one we had we had it at the uh parking lot at the school and unfortunately we don't have access to that because of the construction so we are very limited on space in north bay village this is the the the best spot that we can do it this year. But we are going to have a small bike course in the west side of the building. And it's for children. It's not for adults. It's mainly for the kids to teach them bike safety.
No, I think that sounds great, and I agree. You definitely want kids on the causeway. I ride with my daughters. For sure. We stay away from the causeway. I mean, we'll get on there a little bit, but it's scary sometimes. So, yeah, I would not.
This morning at 8.20, there was a mother with two infants on the back of her electric bike. Both of the infants, no helmets. And so there's three people on the electric bike, and – The kids were about four or five years old.
Wow. I wish I knew. Hopefully she's a resident and she follows us on social media because we've been promoting it and we are going to be giving out helmets. So hopefully she'll be attending so we can give her children helmets. It's definitely a bike safety issue not wearing your helmet.
Yeah. She was coming out of North Harbor Island. Wow. Wow.
I have a quick question. I'm not sure who can answer this. It's kind of a little bit off topic. Where is a summer camp this year? Is it going to be at the community center?
I believe there's two camps with the YMCA, but I believe it's going to be at the school. Correct me if I'm wrong, Lily.
We're trying to figure it out right now to see if they'll be able to be in the new community center.
That would be nice. We signed up one of our kids for it. I know that we registered for it, but I didn't know that there was in question if they were doing it at the school or the community center. I just assumed it was going to be at the school again.
Just some insider knowledge, Jose.
The community center would be nice. We love what YMCA did last year just for feedback. I thought it was a well-run camp. My daughters gave positive feedback on it. So I think only one of them will be attending this year because one of them has to go to summer school. But I like how you can do it. You don't have to commit to every week. You can do every week. Are they doing the art and the regular camp like they did last year? Do you know?
yeah they're gonna do arts for learning um and then we have the ymca so the arts for learning will stay at ties and then um we're trying to see if we can get the ymca in the community center for the summer that would be nice that'd be awesome that'd really be nice yep brand new facility that would be great okay thank you thank you everybody thank you officer for joining us of course my pleasure
Okay, so next on the agenda is one of my neighbors actually presented an idea to me about a community garden. And I know Francois, we've been talking about this for a while. She kind of has a different angle on it than I think might work for us to start it out. And this is Kelsey, my neighbor. she'll present to you the idea that she has. I think it might work out for us to start this at the park next door.
I know Kelsey. And the funny thing is I was at the farmer's market two weeks ago and we had a long conversation about this. And I said, I love the community garden idea. So good to see you, Kelsey. Thanks for joining.
Thank you so much, Lydia and Jose. Hi everyone. Great to meet you. So I am a resident of Treasure Island. Yeah.
That's where we live, right, Lydia? That's where we live, yeah.
I'm like, oh, yeah, I know these streets all well. So I do live in a condo and I volunteer every week at the farmer's market. And one thing I've noticed and the Legion Park farmer's market where we volunteer with Urban Oasis Project. So we do a mix of we aggregate and purchase a lot of produce. It's a nonprofit and we give a lot of produce away. Or have a snap doubling benefits and that type of thing. So very focused on how do we ensure that high quality food is fed throughout the community. I think that that's it's really important to me. And I also garden and have been gardening a lot on my balcony. And I've been thinking a lot this year about how we could start and just pilot a community garden. I was thinking maybe like max three to five beds. I'd want to keep it very small or even I personally just use row bags. So I'm open to whatever makes it work in the space. I probably would be looking, if we could do this, it would probably be something to start in the fall. There's really not much that grows in the summer besides sweet potatoes and some random other herbs and things. But yeah, I really just wanted to kind of see if we could get some interest and start small. My initial thinking was produce would actually be something we could give away. There's always plenty of people who need food. So that would be kind of my initial thinking. Eventually, yes, I know plenty of gardens, community gardens kind of give away their own plots and that type of thing. I probably wouldn't start there. But yeah, that was kind of my initial thoughts. And very happy to help us if we have a place for it. I would be very excited to help make it happen.
So I'll take first crack at this and then everyone else can jump in. And I think we talked about it at the farmer's market. This is another topic that's been brought up on this board many times. We've been talking about it for probably two years. And I even had a... community garden organization joined probably last year that didn't work out. Susan, I think you tried to follow up with it, too, and cost prohibitive. But now that we have this space there and I know a lot of it has been kicked around, I ran into some other folks recently that you know have ideas on what they want to do there i think that's a big thing but i you know what i've heard and this is just kind of feedback is that um there's a lot of ideas for that space like maybe like slash dog park slash picnic area slash you know community garden maybe we do i heard something about maybe doing kind of like what they do in south point where you know they have those those elevated land masses. Have you guys been down to South Point? I didn't realize that those hills are actually, correct me if I'm wrong, Frank or Lily, you probably know the technical term, but it's like a water filtration system or a flood system. I heard something about maybe doing that there, but we could... The point is there's a lot of things that I think are being kicked around. I think... that would be a community garden in that area we wouldn't need a lot of space and as an avid gardener myself i'll agree with you if you come to my house you'll see but like you don't you can't really grow anything in the summer everything dies heat you know maybe some cherry tomatoes or stuff like that but i i'm a big fan of the idea i think that if we could whatever we decide to do there whatever the city decides to do I would love to see a little community, a little plot, maybe in the corner. Right. Like, you know, we put those wooden, like the frames that you can build, the cheap to build, that you could start a garden there. Like, you know, just if anything, it wouldn't take up a lot of space, but you could do classes there for kids on how to garden. We could... You know, like every now and then if we get a good harvest or something, we could give out fruit, you know, whatever. But I would be a big fan of it and I would be a big supporter of it. I would definitely have I would definitely be planning some stuff there if we got it going. So that's that's my my thought. I'll open it up to the rest of the board.
But what I like about Kelsey is more that it's not like we had been thinking in the past where people take ownership more of a little piece and grow their own stuff. It's more of a community growing it all together. And then whatever you grow, you're going to give it back to the community. was kind of her idea so that's that's what i like that it's more of oh this piece of land you know this little piece this little crops are just this person's and they're growing what they want here and then which is kind of the way the mammy beaches um garden works each everybody takes ownership of their little piece and then they the rest you know they all do together this is more of to get it started it's a community whoever joins the little group would all do it together am i right kelsey Right? Everybody would do it together.
That's my vision, initially, yeah.
And then from there, we'll see where it could go.
I like the idea, like, growing and giving to who needs it. I think, yeah, we have also taken buster gardening classes and we have Tim right here and we just need a space to, I don't think that park is ready yet to use, right? Yeah, they haven't touched it yet. Yeah, but probably that's the only place we can do it in future. Whatever we need to do for that to make it happen, we can do it.
And I think the reservations, as far as commission-wise, have been in the past, have been who's going to run it, right? Because staff can't do this. Staff can't take this on. They can't take anything else on. Obviously, we're not going to pay someone on staff to do a community garden. It has to be the community that takes it on. And Kelsey is willing to get it started. I know Francois would definitely probably want to get in on this. So what do you think, Francois?
You're right, except I've changed my perspective on the fact that you're mentioning community. community garden, and I'm thinking more demonstration garden because I think there's a bigger educational opportunity to involve the youth, the young people, and to combine the young people with the old people, which I think the village lacks, where you integrate the old with the young and you educate them about the environment and how important a butterfly is and so on. And the acorns scale the production and give produce to the residents. That's not going to work. And then someone mentioned water and space, and I agree with all that. The water and the space, the reality is there's not much, right? But we can definitely make a big impact with education, I think, and give a senior citizen a lot of happiness to involve them with the youth. In American culture period, the old and the young don't integrate well. And I think North Bear Village could be trendsetter and try to integrate the two gaps between generations.
That's a fantastic idea, Francois, and I like how you put it. Instead of a community garden, it's a demonstration garden. I think that's the term we use. And whether who manages it or not, we plant some things. I know my mom, who helps me with my garden, would be there. It sounds like we've got several people who would be there. But you make it like a community effort like okay on Mondays Kelsey's watch like is you know has to go watch the garden on Tuesdays Francois stops by or whatever and then around that we make sure the garden stays healthy and then around that as things grow and as you know butterflies arrive or whatever you know you you bring kids there to do classes on like this is how we plant this and this is what this is and things like that it and you bring I love the bringing together the the, you know, our elderly to it, because I agree that's part of the mission of this board is to create programs for our kids and for our aging residents. So I love the idea. I don't have to say I've been trying to do it for a long time.
I also settled on the idea of the orchid. so the orchid so everybody was saying you need lots of water for a garden i remember frank frank you said this water is not going to happen in north bay village there's no water to run your garden so your garden is going to shut down fast but orchids don't need water orchids don't need soil so i was bent on my current thing is putting an orchid all throughout the village lots of orchids and I was talking to an orchid specialist. His name is Mitch Ackerman, I think. And we have tons and tons of seed to grow orchids from scratch.
Francois, I'll let Frank take this because it's one of his passion projects. The Village actually joined the Million Orchid Project last year. So Frank, if you want to share a little bit about that.
Very nice.
Sure. So already throughout Treasure Island, all the oak trees are orchids have been planted. They were planted last year. They're babies. And then with the spring coming, the orchid people will be back from Fairchild. They'll replace those that didn't survive. And so all of these, if you look closely, you'll see them have been... tie raft onto the barks of the oak trees on every street in Treasure Island. So that was about a $3,000 project, and they warranty the work that they've done, and those orchids that haven't made, they'll be replaced. And they're still on the tiny side, but I keep an eye on them now and then as I'm driving through, and I can see that they're making it. I also see that some of them have been taken. Wow. That's just the reality because those tie wraps just don't fall off. And so when they've been cut and they're missing and the plants are not there, so somebody has, you know, seen them and taken one or two or maybe more. But that's just a... cost of doing the project, I guess. So we'll get back on it. Once they put them in there, we water them for about three weeks every day. You may have seen them out there. People thought we were watering the oak trees, but they were watering the orchids that were tied into the bark. So You know, Francois is right. If you leave them alone, they do a lot better than messing with them.
We've had one for 10 years. It's the same orchid. And the cool thing about them is they bloom every year. So it's like you think they're dead and they're not. And they just come back every year and you're like, oh it's still alive but I've had one sitting on my windowsill several for like one one's like 10 years old another one's like yeah they're very resilient I love that so I haven't I have one of those oak trees right in front of my driveway I hadn't seen anything there I'll go take a look at it but it's there yeah I did I certainly didn't take one from in front of my tree I have plenty here but like that's great I wasn't aware we had done that so that's awesome
Me either. That is awesome. Thank you, Frank.
Well, we kept it on kind of the down low because we didn't want to make a lot of attention. Yes. We wanted them to try to get going. It's true. And so, you know, most of them have made it at this point and they'll replace the ones that haven't. And they will be out here, you know, shortly. I mean, Public Works is running the program and we've been in touch with them and they're going to make the rounds again and replace the ones that are missing and And then we'll have to water those for a while. But, you know, it's neat. We enjoy it.
But Frank, you shouldn't have to water an orchid. Why are you watering orchids?
Well, they want them watered when they start. They want those shoots to be, you know, they're very small and they want those roots to come out and stimulate them to grab into the tree. So, I mean, we're following the policy of how they've set them up, what they want us to do. So they can't come to us and say, well, you didn't do this.
That's why they're dying. I got it.
So, you know, they got their program and we're following it. There was one species they put in that evidently didn't do well. And they said they're changing that species altogether. They're going to replace all of those with another orchid this spring.
Okay. Hmm.
So, Frank, question. Is there any plans for the park on North Treasure yet?
Well, there's talk. There's a lot of talk. A lot of talk. And the mayor wants to hold a charrette and talk about the park with the public.
Okay.
So there are, like is being said, there are many ideas that are coming on what to do. Right now, the way the park is, it's of no use. It's just fenced off. Right. The Anson family donated that park. Andy did it to us.
Yeah.
And they also... Well, in exchange.
It wasn't free.
Well, in exchange. You know, it's part of the development agreement. But, I mean, we've got that land. And when you can get land in a community with no land, that's a good deal. It is. And so he also gave us that house that's on West Treasure. Right. Right there in the corner. Right. Now, the mayor's plan on that is to make that a stormwater park with all the features with the retention ponds and so forth and so on. That may be a better spot to have the garden than out in that sun. It's just beaten down every day where there's some shade trees in there and you get some sun and you get some shade. But we're going to demolish the house here pretty quickly. We have the contract out for that. So that's something to think about, that that might be a better place to do it. That's a good idea. Now, on the big lot, we are challenged in that number one is money. And number two is that we are paying now a considerable sum for the kids to have a place to play soccer while Ty's is being taken care of with the soccer fields being installed. And the contract we have for that program, which is underneath I-95 right off 79th Street is where the kids are playing. It's going to run out when school stops and it's quite expensive. So at the community center, the big soccer field is being laid out now. They've got about a quarter of the green turf is down. And they're going to get that done primarily first. And then there are three smaller size soccer fields. And then there is another little soccer field. So there's five altogether, the three, the fourth one, and then the huge one. And there are limited times on when we have access to those fields. We can't have them all the time because they're going to be renting those fields and the paddle ball and pickleball courts are going to be rented also. My concern is right now that we may end up at the end of school that we don't have a place for the kids to play. When we do the initial work on the big field, the thought is at the moment to make it to where it's usable for multiple things. But it'll be a grassy field, it'll be irrigated, it'll have lights. And it'll have a portable restroom on it so that if people are playing there with the kids or whatever, just like we've had to do over at the top lot, we've got a portable unit in there now because the building that had the bathroom was torn down to build a community center. When the community center is completed, there's a separate bathroom in the community center that's accessible from the park. So even when the community center is closed, There'll be a restroom that the police will unlock when the park is open and they'll lock it up when the park is closed and they can go from the park and they can go into that restroom. So we don't have that advantage at the lot and we don't want to build something there because long-term, we don't really know what the plan is for that part and we haven't had any input from the community on the different things to do and the mayor wants to do that so in the short what i'm looking to do is a interim project which will not be very expensive but where we can grade the field because it's not usable now it's the demolition fields kids will fall and there's holes and all that kind of stuff but we can grade that field we can sod it We can water it with portable rainbirds that we don't have to put in a main sprinkler system at this point and get the field where it's usable. And we also have the portable lights that we had at the soccer field. We bought two of those generator light towers so there can be activities at night in there. And so, you know, that's what we're looking at doing right now. But if we're going to do it, we need to get off the dime to get it done so it's ready for the kids during when school is out. So that's where we are. In the long term, we're looking at coming down Pirate's Alley and having an angle parking. from Pirate's Alley into a portion of that park so cars can come there and park and have entrance from Pirate's Alley to get into the park because you're gonna have no place to park with the residences on North Treasure. So we're looking at things, it's very embryonic at this point, but I would like to try to get it towards at least usable in some phase for the summertime. And that's our objective right now.
So I like the idea of the house where the pump station is going to be. That would be a better place for a community garden, actually. I didn't think of that. Because there won't be people visiting it and so forth. It won't take up space from the park. It's a separate location. Maybe we could talk to the mayor about that and the vice mayor separately, Kelsey.
take it from there yeah i have a i meet with her regularly and uh i'll bring that up to her because we are we are going to demolish the house here fairly quickly we're keeping the uh you have a uh pretty rare banyan tree in the back although it's a banyan tree it's a it's a um That's the deputy police chief calling me. Sam, let me call you back, man. Thank you. But there is a type of a fig that that banyan tree has little figs on it now. And So we want to keep the trees. There's a tree in the front that's controversial that may stay or may not stay. And then the mayor wants to open it up for the public to be able to utilize the park until we actually do something at that park. Again, finances are a major concern. if we were able to put the garden in there, I mean, to me, that might be a neat use to have it and have a little bit of shade in there too. So I will mention that to her when I see her and you all can talk to her, because, you know, it helps for the public to reach out to the elected officials with things they want to do. For sure. Than just the administration. But I will let her know that we talked about it and that, you know, I think it's a good idea, use for that place.
I would think also that we're more apt to get that done sooner than trying to do it in the park because we can't build a garden in the park until we know everything that's going to be allotted to that property.
No, I was just going to say one thing too is a garden. Well, yes, ideally it's wooden beds. It can be like bags and buckets that are movable. So it can also, it doesn't, we don't need to have an exact space. known for the next 10 years for me to be able to bring this in and to try it so no i i very much appreciate all the advice and or all the comments too i think frank i would love to do it at that house i'd be totally fine that was actually my first thought um and then i was like oh actually wait we have this land so i'm perfectly happy with that i just wanted to also be clear that it can be very affordable i guess for lack of a better term yeah at least initially yeah
Awesome. Thank you, Kelsey. Thank you for your time. And I'll get back to you for sure. Thank you. Okay. We've gone a long time and we still have a big one coming. So anything else in the community garden before we move forward?
No, I say we get to the scholarship if we can.
Okay. So Lily, you want to guide us here? We're ready for the scholarship.
So you guys are just going to pick someone for the middle school scholarship.
Right, because the high school, there's two and we have two scholarships. So they both automatically get it. And the middle school is one scholarship, but we had an extra $500, didn't we? We do.
So you guys will pick what number based off of the scholarship packet that Alba sent to you earlier, which student you think it'll go to. Lydia, you'll make a motion. Yeah. And you guys can vote. And then you guys will have to vote again to decide on whether you want to give that spare $500 to the Optimist Club or if you want to give it to another deserving middle schooler since we have five applicants.
It's definitely a middle schooler. Okay.
So that's easy. So we're only picking one for the middle school. Okay.
How much is the middle school one? Is it $1,000? $1,000. And then we have the 500 extra. So the second person could get 500.
So is the high school one two 1,000 ones? And then what's the high school one?
The high school ones are two 2,000.
Yeah. Oh, wow. Okay. That's great.
Yeah, we have 5,500. Okay.
Okay, so we're just picking the middle. We're just picking.
Yes, fine. We're just picking one middle schooler. So just say the number. Each application was numbered. Don't say the name.
And you guys can talk about them too. Just make sure you refer to them as number two, number three, number four, etc.
What did you say for him?
My favorite is number two for Maria Sadie scholarship.
Okay. But isn't one and two the two high school people?
No, they're separate.
So there's one and two for the high schoolers, which are first. And then if you scroll to page, I forget what number it is, maybe like 15, it starts all over again with the one, two, three, four, five.
Yeah.
So we're talking about the second set of one, two, three, four, five.
All right. Skip me because I'm not sure. I picked two, but I don't know if he was from the, it was the first two.
Yeah.
Okay. Francois, do you know which one you want?
I'm having a hard time with the numbers. So I'm going with number two for the high school?
No, the high school we don't have to pick because we have two and there's only two applicants. So it's just the middle school you have to pick.
So it's the middle school. So let me find the numbers. So the number is what I'm trying to find out because I know the name.
Start looking around page 11. 11? Somewhere around there.
I don't have it open.
Okay, 11 is this is someone's grades.
Okay, so keep going down. That's not it.
Go down from there.
I'm trying to find the page number so that you guys know where to start. Give me one second.
Oh, here we go. I got it. Number one.
Okay.
Number one is my choice. Okay. Okay.
Jose, do you know?
For the middle school, we're picking one. So my selection would be, let me make sure.
Yeah, so you guys should be starting on page 20. Anything before page 20 is the high school scholarship. It's the high school kids.
Thank you, Lily. Let me make sure that I'm picking the right one. So we're just picking one.
Also, I don't know if you guys saw it, but I included some video links in here because there were some applicants that submitted video links.
I saw it. I'm still number two. You're number two? Okay.
Okay.
Do we have a second choice or is it just a first choice?
We're going to have a second choice, but we have to do this first and then we have to have a motion for the second one.
So my picks for the middle school would be number one and two.
Okay. Which is the first one, though? Because it's a larger scholarship. So it's a number one?
Well, I don't follow you. What do you mean?
It sounded like you said number one and two. So you went one is your first choice and number two is your second choice. Is that right? That's two, Jose.
Actually, yeah. Two would be my first choice. One would be my second choice.
And I'm the other way around, by the way.
Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah.
Yeah. I'm number one as well.
And I'm actually number four.
You're number four?
I'm number four, yeah. The number two that I liked was the high school kid, but my choice for the middle school was number four.
Okay, so let's make sure I got this right. I'm going with number one. Francois is going with number one. Farahim is going with number two, and Jose is going with number two. And Susan's going with number four, so we have a tie.
Well, you're not really. You've got two ones and two twos. So you've got to decide which is the first and which is the runner-up.
Exactly. So we have a tie for first place because it's a $1,000 scholarship.
I thought it's in $1,000 each anyway.
No. Did you split it $750 instead of $1,500? No, because it's not the way it's written.
Oh, no. Okay. Okay, so what do we do in the event of a tiebreaker?
We take another vote. So if you want to take a moment and take a look again. And let's see if with a second vote, we can break the tie.
Oh, we ask each board member to say why they picked that number. And then we decide on whose choice is more valid than the other.
Well, we could say, Susan, are you really sure about number four?
Yes, Susan, you're the tiebreaker here.
You're the tiebreaker. So are you really sure? I want to say I read these and I'm just it was hard decision because I thought they all did a great job. They did. They did. But the ones that I think stood out for me were the two and one. Right. So, yeah. And I'm looking at number four again just to see what Susan sees.
But, you know, number four is my second favorite. It's also there's a video. Um, yeah, he does a lot of settings and, uh, Number one, number two is like, it's like written from heart. It is easy to follow. It's personal. And he's like, he also describes how he's going to use the money and he's going to take more dance classes and piano classes. Yeah.
But you also have to evaluate that against the purpose of the scholarship fund and the Saidi system. Right. So you got to marry the two together too. That's what I did at least.
Yeah. And they both liked music as well, I think. So, I mean, that's, I looked at it that way from that perspective too, but it's a good point.
Susan's still looking.
That's tough because this first kid wrote, you know, he's writing books.
Yeah. And that's what I liked about it. I was like, he's gone beyond right there. I mean, he's wrote a book. He's got, and I just think his articulation is he, he wrote really, really well. And I always appreciate that.
So I, I mean, he, he included one book, but he's written more than one.
Yeah. Which is impressive.
Yeah. And then what are the videos that the second kid saw? Is there an opening?
Susan, one is a dancing video and one is a video of playing the piano.
That's the second kid, right?
Yeah.
All right. I'm going to vote one.
One? Okay. So then number one gets the $1,000 scholarship. So now we need to vote. We have $500. It's not allocated. And if we didn't have so many applicants, we would give it to the Optimist Club. But we do have so many applicants. So my suggestion is that we give it to the runner-up, which would be number two.
I agree. I agree.
Does everybody agree?
Yeah. Who's the runner-up? Would that be number four?
Number two. Okay.
Okay.
So Lily got that number one gets the thousand dollars and number two gets the 500. Yep.
Got it.
And we got so many. Wow. And they were all very impressive. I wish we had more money.
Yeah. Yeah. Very good writing.
decision.
They did really well.
They're so young. The middle schoolers, they're so young. They're very impressive.
It made me think, what was I doing? I wasn't writing books when I was that age and doing... I was really just impressed. I was like, wow. They put in a lot of work. I thought they all did a fantastic job. I'm just glad to see we got more participation and It's for such a great cause, right?
It's good to see that the future is in such good hands.
Yep. Okay. Let's see.
Do we have anything else? Hold on. Commission, staff, updates? Anybody? Billy, Vice Mayor?
The only update I have is, I don't remember if I shared with you guys, we picked an official date for the community center grand opening. No. So that'll be Thursday, June 4th, which is also the last day of school. So we are full steam planning that event and it should be really exciting.
Wow. Has any programming been discussed for the community center? Am I way too far ahead of myself?
No, you're not too far ahead of yourself. I'm putting together a presentation now to take to the May commission meeting so that the commission can give the administration some direction on programming.
Are you able to share with us? I mean, not now, but in general, by email maybe? Yes.
Yeah, I can share some ideas with you for sure.
Awesome. I would love to see what the ideas are. Okay. Thank you. Do we have any public comment?
No. I would question if Vice Mayor have seen my email about the dance classes I've sent. We have about 10 people joined and they are asking $150 for each classes. And I think the number will improve by the time. Vice Mayor, are you here?
And we just lost him.
No. Okay.
I can help a little bit, Faraheem. I think what we were waiting on was a proposal, right? From the dance company? Oh, here he is. He's coming back. Hold on.
Can you all hear me?
Can you hear me?
Okay. There we go. I was trying to speak like when Lydia asked about updates. I have actually, I'll answer your question, Farahim, but I do have one update to share. I have heard back from Miami Beach about the partnership that we're trying, that I'm kind of pushing for over there. And I did get an update that they will put the Normandy pool on their commission agenda for June, and it's going to be on consent. And the agreement will allow for free access for North Bay Village residents to the Normandy pool. Yes. I believe it's for... off peak hours uh and for peak hours i think the rate has been reduced down from like 17 or 19 dollars down to five dollars so it's a pretty substantial discount for peak hours and then free for non-peak hours so it's basically what miami beach residents have I haven't announced it yet anywhere or to anyone because I do want it to first pass on consent over there. I was told that nobody, it's very unlikely it's going to get pulled because it's something that we've been talking about for months and we do have the green light from John Rebar, their parks and rec director and city manager. So we should be good. But just in case it gets pulled, it would probably get delayed to July. So I'm just kind of staying a little quiet until it's actually passed. But that is one update that is pretty exciting. And then Farahim, to answer your question, we just have like very limited budget for anything right now. So I think the dance classes maybe, I don't see, I mean, I think we'd have to fundraise that amount because I don't believe we have city funds for that. We didn't have it budgeted and we just... We have to be so careful financially at this point that I think if we wanted to continue the dance classes, we'd have to find a way to fundraise.
Thank you.
And that's all.
Okay.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Okay. So agenda items for the next meeting, just make sure you think of them so we can get them to the village clerk on time. And does anybody else have anything? We made up for the missed meetings for sure tonight.
Great meeting, everyone. No, I have nothing else. I got my action items I'll be following up. Do we know when the next meeting is?
The first Tuesday of every month. That's right. I knew that. Okay.
Okay. I'm good. I think we're good to adjourn if everyone else is.
Okay. So, adjourn at 7.50 p.m. Thank you, everybody.
Thank you, Lily. Thank you.
Thanks, all.
Bye-bye.
Bye-bye. Good night.
Good night.
