Move forward to full council. Actually
Mr. Chairman, I would like to make amendment to resolution 26,055. Specifically section that's regarding the advertising and promotions commission. I would like to remove that section of the resolution please.
And I'll explain briefly and Carol can interject if I make a mistake but that goes against state law and our A and P bylaws. Those have to be made by the committee so we need to pull those off and let the committee meet first before we move forward.
Do you make a motion to amend that?
Yes, Second.
Have a motion second. All in favor signify by saying aye. Aye. Any opposed, lock sign. Any other discussion by the committee on this resolution?
I do have a question about that. So the reason we're pulling it is because of what exactly? Under
state law, the at large position is nominated by the AMP commissioners themselves and then approved by city council. It's just different and it got my understanding is it was an oversight that it was put on here but it is Put on by who then? Well the mayor's office sent out all the whole laundry list and they were looking at appointments that were expiring and just, you know, nominating people for those appointments and and this got put on there. But it is correct that that nomination has to be made by the a and p commission and then approved by city council. So I've my understanding is they're gonna have a meeting Monday That's correct. In order to vote on who their nominee is and then it'll be presented possibly Tuesday if we call another meeting or whenever rules and nominating meets again.
Okay follow-up two things. One is that the same with all of the other commissions and committees? No. Just that particular one.
Just that one.
Second question. What is civil service commission?
Anybody? I I had the same question.
That has to do with the fire department. It's it's sort of I'm I'm not trying to I'm the best way to explain it is it's almost like an appellate board for disciplinary action for the fire department. It used to be that the police department and the fire department were under the civil service commission. The police department adopted their bill of rights and did away with their participation in the civil service commission. The fire department still participates in the civil service commission, so it's a committee that addresses those types of issues for the fire department. Employee personnel type issues. It gives their employees a a right of appeal essentially of a termination, suspension, that type of thing.
Gotcha. I
have a quick question for clarification as well. In regard to the A and P Commission, if the A and P Commission meets Monday, does it have to come before this body or can it go directly to city council as an appointment?
I think under our council rules everything comes through rules and nominate. I don't know that we have an exception in our rules to that.
I just know what I read the last couple of days that it didn't
It does really say you take nominate it to council but just our council rules say that things go to committee and then go to council. I mean I could look at that before Monday and give you a more definitive answer.
Okay, do we need to tentatively put one of these on the agenda for Tuesday before the meeting? Do we need to have a nominate? I can call within two hours, so correct?
Yes, you have So two
let's wait till we hear.
It needs to be, I thought it was three hours you, hour And then we have to within that hour have to
So we'll still be good notifying. You could
call it Monday after your meeting for Tuesday afternoon if we needed to. But I'll double check that before I
just wanted to confirm before we move forward. Sure. Any discussion by anyone in the audience on this resolution? Okay, I have a motion and second. Please mark mark your vote.
Please mark your vote again. And that does carry so we will carry that today and pay commission on Monday. Show no pending items, no other any public comment? Next item of business is adjourned. So moved. All in favor? Aye. Any opposed, like sign, we stand adjourned. Thank you all.
