Ready? Good evening, everyone. Let's call to order the special meeting of the board this evening. We'll begin with the Pledge of Allegiance. City clerk, roll call, please.

Thank you, ma'am. Very briefly. The reason that I called this meeting is to consider sod or seed for the Budweiser playground. As you can see by the memos that were sent, the seed and straw is like 2,700. The sod is more like 27,000. So, we, Couldn't make that call, didn't want to make that call, so we thought we'd bring it to the board. Now, you know, the more I looked at it, the more I researched it, I honestly think that the difference from seeding could better be used elsewhere. You're going to need to water it no matter what. So I think we proceed. I hope we didn't waste your time, but the more I think about it, seeding would probably be better.

uh if they're gonna walk would they water for a month with the sod do they do that with the seed as well no but i i don't know if a month is even good enough if we get in it's raining good now but if we get into august and they're not watering anymore that side may not even last

I don't think that July and August at any time is a good time to put sod down. That's like an April, May kind of thing. So I wouldn't be in favor of doing the sod myself.

And they want $8,000 just to water it for one month. 30 days of watering is $8,000. And of the quote, And that's just for July. So if we have a hot August, then we would be responsible for watering it anyway.

A couple thoughts. I mean, don't we, oh, we're not doing the meeting next week. But I would say, could we just, you know, think about this for another week or something. But the other thing is if we're going to have to water either way, I mean, how are we going to water the seed? I mean, I just had a stump ground out the other day and yeah, I wanted, I had tree delays getting it done and all that. And, I would have ideally liked to done it in the spring and got, but I'm going to, I got straw and seed down on, but it's just a stump, you know, but I'm going to have to make it work during the, uh, this hot things, unless we put it off and, and just somehow put orange fencing around that and, and thought about it, maybe do the, the, the, the seed or sod in the fall when it, when it'll take much better for either.

So.

I was kind of going along the same lines. It doesn't make sense to pay $20,000 just for a month of watering. Maybe just put down mulch until the fall and then just kind of throw down some seed.

I think it can be done. I recently did it on a house that I tore down and it was hot. They told me you'd never get grass to grow. I didn't put straw down, but I did keep it moist, keep it wet.

How are we going to do that?

Well, but I was up there today and I was looking and, you know, we have some alternatives. We can hook up to Budweil or the police department with a hose and put sprinklers. And, you know, I'm retired. I'm off. I'm around here all the time. I don't mind moving them here and there.

I really don't. The sod is, was that already built in? Or not the sod, the seed. Yeah. So that's my thought with it. Let's do what was going to be done. And if we have to reseed, that's not a huge expense, really.

Well, another quick thing too. And if we find that the seed's not taking or, you know, and we get to that fall, it actually falls better for planting grass seed and sod than the spring. So if we get to like September and October, that's your ideal time to do it. Anyway, find out it just, it's not working. Let's go back to the drawing board and we could cross that bridge then. Agreed.
