Do I need this too? I don't know if one of those yeah.
Okay.
You ready? Okay. Welcome to our advisory board meeting for n p two. Today is Monday, May 18. My name is Lisa Rowe, and I'm here with Joe Morgan. We are currently waiting for Teresa Caracello. We have texted, and, we are not sure if she will be here today. So I'm calling the meeting to order, and, we'll go there from there. Can everybody stand for the pledge? Pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Okay. You guys laid this out really well. Alright. I'm requesting if the board specialist has any submitted comment cards for general public comment? There are no public comments. Okay. And, our first order of business is to approve the minutes from February 23. I move we approve the minutes. Okay. All those in favor? Aye. All right. They are approved. Okay. Our motion today is or sorry.
Second, we are going to discuss, I'm not sure. Carachella restates the motion. What are we I moved to approve the minutes. We did that. Maybe I skipped all over this. Don't need this new business. We're here to review and discuss the six month agency impact reports for the third funding cycle for the year twenty five-twenty six. And so I imagine those are somewhere. You guys gonna they're on the board. Okay, Joan. Alright. So our first report is from the Awaken Outreach Center. So I
question. I
Wonderful. You've been out there? Yeah. Mhmm. Several people involved in the pantry right now. It's a huge success in our community. Fantastic. Okay. Is there a motion? I move we approve. Okay. I second. We will move on to the six month impact statement from Big Brothers Big Sisters. That look fine. Comments.
This was the computer so it looks like. Okay. So we'll continue. Do we have a motion? I guess I have to.
I make a motion.
We're on a roll, Joan. Yes. All right. All those in favor, say aye. Aye. All right. Approved. The next one is for Freedom Bible Church. I remember this one. Any comments?
Anything? No. I make a motion that we approve it.
This is great. You see that individuals and couples have received counseling. Great. Okay. And I have second. So this one is also approved. Okay. Here's the twelve month impact statement. Just submitted the wrong form. Okay. So we have the Kiwanis six month impact statement.
Looks like they're doing it.
Did they answer all the questions
even though
it's on the wrong form? Yes. Okay.
And then
she submitted stats as well for what was provided to some families.
Okay. All those in favor? Aye. Alright. Thank you. Alright. The next one is who's this from? Literacy Library? Literacy work. Sarasota County. Okay. I know they're working with them up there, the the big print books and all. Okay. Any comments other than that? I will be approve it. Okay. I second. Approved. Okay. Loveland. Six month impact statement. I assume they're doing everything good. Any no. I I move we approve it. Okay.
Second. Approved. K. Saint Vincent de Paul, joining together spiritually. What did they do? Did this form get filled out correctly? This looks different than the last.
It did. They received a cell phone, so they can't provide that, who they're calling and stuff like that.
Okay. Okay. I move we approve. Okay. I second. Approved. Team Court. Up your alley, Joan. Any comments? Oh, no. Hey. They're they're they're at a golf tournament today for the higher exam. I've been talking to them. Okay. Awesome. So, you move to approve? I believe we approve. They are doing phenomenal. Excellent.
And they are really working with DFI and the and the, youth ambassador program. There is a lot of spreading out of all their stuff. Extremely impressed.
Great. Okay. Move to approve that. And then here comes another item, business. So we're moving on to review our newest committee member who is to fill Theresa's role at a citizen at large with the preference to the older community.
It's mister Keith, and he's here with us today in the audience.
Who's he replacing?
Gail. Gail.
He's replacing who? Gail. Gail. Okay. So not Teresa. Gail I thought she was looking for him to replace her. Okay. Any comments? Great. Thank you. Wonderful. Welcome. Hi.
Huffing and puffing. Alright.
You get to take over at Why don't you keep going? I'll
call you
Alright. Good. Thank you. Okay. So, is there a motion? I make a motion, that we accept Keith. It'd be Now that Theresa's with us, do we have a second? I second the motion. Okay. Keith, welcome. Thank you for your
North America group service. I mean, this is something that is so positive, so happy. No negative, no nastiness, just happiness.
Is correct. Yeah.
We are moving fast through today. Alright. So, we have another piece of, information we need to discuss and elect the new chair and the new vice chair. And so, I don't think I can nominate myself. I can nominate you. Okay.
Hey, Lisa,
do you
want to be chair?
I will serve my duty as chair. Yay. All right. All right. Unless there's any additional nominations. No. Okay. All right. With no additional nominations, we approve that motion. Oh, actually, is there a second?
I second the vote.
I second the motion. What number are we on?
We're doing this really great. C7.
We're in article six.
Yes, we're moving really quickly. All right, we need nominations for vice chair. Joan, it looks like you're seconding a minute. Hello? Yes, Keith wants to do it, but Hey, what again? Teresa? She's out.
Man. Well, the whole
reason I'm leaving is because I have a sick dog at home that requires extra care. I mean, I love this board.
It's only a few meetings a year.
I know. Oh, she's she's slowly So now
you're coming back? Well, then you could stay chair and I'll stay vice chair.
She meant for you to nominate. I'm nominating for Joan to be second chair, vice chair.
Okay. Joan, do you accept?
Yeah. It was you don't yeah. You can be here.
I I will I will return.
Okay. Alright. I will return to Okay. Alright. Then I'll be vice. Okay. All those in favor oh, do I I have a motion to approve, Joan Morgan as the vice chair.
Any seconds? I second the motion.
All right, Joan. Welcome to vice chair.
You made
it. Okay. What? I think since you're nominated, we need a motion and a second. Okay. So can she be the second or do want us to do a different She can be the second. So she did motion. That. Yep. I did. Yep. There was a motion to approve Joan and Theresa seconded it. So we are good welcoming Joan to the board. Alright. Future agenda items.
Could I could I confirm something? So Keith will be representing our, older and wiser community. Is that correct?
Yes. Mhmm.
55 and wiser.
Yes. Okay. Thank you. Okay. That is not how it was said on here. I like it.
Mine is nicer.
It is. It is. All right. Do we have any queries or comments from board members to put on the future agenda?
United Way didn't submit their six months. And you guys had me follow-up with the other two agencies that didn't for the last funding cycle. And they youth musical, what is it, used musical arts did not. There's been a
change in command over there?
Has there been any change? He just hasn't he ignores my calls and
Aye yai yai. Little we need to visit the doorstep then. Yep. Okay. So that's the next step.
Yep. Alright. So they received funding, but they didn't submit their Six month follow-up. What does that mean for us as board members?
You guys had just instructed me to keep trying because for us, there wasn't anything in the admin plan. If they don't submit, they're just not eligible for future funding.
Mhmm.
And it was instructed for us to keep trying, and we
haven't received anything. K. They're still in noncompliance. So as long as they're noncompliance, they cannot, apply in the future. But it might be wise to maybe, discuss that if you don't submit if you're in noncompliance and you don't submit reporting at a certain time, you are no longer eligible in the future because this is you know? Yeah. It's difficult to hold people accountable when they're not when they're not supplying what they need
to supply.
It's something very simple.
Yes. It's not Just making sure the right funding
And I
think in
the future, there's going to be a lot more people applying. So therefore, competition is going to be stronger. So if people who have gotten funds don't bother to follow-up, okay, I agree with you that they should not be eligible for future grants.
And did we spell that out at the beginning?
We just let them know that they need to comply or they won't be eligible.
They didn't know that. Yeah.
And the evidence So in appropriate
to say no longer eligible. Yes.
Yes. And expressed it too on the phone.
And we tried every form of communication.
Email. Email. Phone. Different phone numbers. And numbers that
had worked in the past Mhmm. But now are not receiving. And I
believe who he'll he'll hear gave us, additional information to contact someone else that may be more connected. I can't remember.
Yes. I did contact also because it was applied for two different so the North Port Orchestra Booster Club was the first funding cycle, and then the second funding cycle was the youth musical. It was under the same person, Michael Agria. Right.
Which is he's at a different school, I believe. Correct. Also, the the new orchestra person is doctor Hill, and she's going to Ellen Park.
Oh. She's probably
not even checking emails from Northport. I don't know.
It was instructed for me to contact Courtney Apollone. Yes. And then
And she's leaving. Wow.
It's a
lot it's
a lot
of change They over won't be eligible then.
Unless they're not.
Which is sad for the people coming in who really use it.
Yep. Because they
did reach out to all of them and nothing.
So I can walk over there tomorrow and say, please reply to these emails. Mhmm. If not, the people coming in. And I'll reply I'll tell admin who will oversee that department next year.
Who who, is, in charge of the band? You guys told me to call her, so I did. And she was worried. She's like, oh my gosh. I I I need to submit what? And then she realized it was a orchestra person.
Yes.
It's a doctor.
Doctor. Hill. Doctor. Laura Hill. Okay. But also her boss was the head of VPA. The entire VPA was Courtney Abalone. But it shifted mid year when the new principal came in, then he took over the head of the EPA. So now the new point of contact would be Ryan Shirley and you will hear back from him. That's what I'm gonna recommend. That's my best recommendation is to email Ryan Shirley. He oversees everything at the school, so he will either reply directly back to you or say this person will answer you. Okay.
That plan have to be approved by commission? So if we were to make a change in it, it'd have to
go back. Is there a best practice in this way when you think about how you created the NP2 program? Just thinking as I've applied for grants in the past, sometimes if it was tethered to things like this, it was also tethered to the funding. Would it be appropriate to consider because now this is too, right, to we give you 75% of it and you receive the 25% after submitting if this mattered to the board?
For the purchasing, you mean? Of the item, it's difficult to do that? Because a lot
of it's one item We
can't split the purchase So we would Erin would not be able to do that with purchasing and she has to get all of her purchasing done within a time frame that's under that fiscal year. So
They also have to be utilizing the item right prior to submitting the stats because they have to show how that item has benefited Northport residents. And,
you know, so how That'd be difficult because that's a commission support item, not like they're submitting reports to continue getting funding. Or you're paying funding over a period of time. It is one time purchase.
I hate to see
the school cut off, though, from funds like that because there is some confusion over there. And there was some confusion about was it the orchestra guy? And, I'm not sure where his status is with the school.
Okay.
Okay? I'm not sure what you know. And also Ryan Shirley, I mean, my god, that guy must have got 5,000 emails before 08:00 in the morning. You know, I mean, there's been a lot. They've done a lot. They're coming a long way. Okay? And I'm giving them credit for a lot of things that they're really trying to change. They're changing not just the school, but the whole culture. Absolutely.
Okay. And really and like actually at 04:30 tonight, D5, there's going to be a Zoom meeting and Ryan Shirley will be on it and all of them with the D5 kids and that. So there's a lot going on over there. So, you know, I'm trying to give them leeway because the orchestra and band programs and all of those over there are huge programs.
Yeah. They're crucial. Understand that.
Don't wanna leave out so, you know, I'm thinking you've got people who don't know where their status is Yes. Legally or within the school system of are they still employed and you've got a lot of transfers over to Welland Park, you got a lot of stuff going on there. So
And that's something you guys would have to discuss if you get an application in the future where
you guys stand with it. Yeah. I mean, it's kinda
like the orchestra department that I think has a different department.
Like, who who oversees the band and the orchestra department?
Now Ryan Shirley.
Okay. And those people, it seems like, are consistently removing? No, he's the
new principal, but
he's So seeing over
he sees over everything? He had yeah, he has taken So many we reached out to him and see if he can Yeah,
he I'll tell you what, he's very responsible. He's very caring. He's very wanting to be part of it. Just had a conversation standing right here, though, at that you know, but, I mean, he has been handed a huge thing, huge thing with a lot of complicated parts. Right. And, you know, it's gotta all be worked out.
So we will reach out
to that person and then we'll also reach out to United Way. United Way has gone through some transition. I know that. Yep. They lost their executive director, and Chris Johnson right now is the interim. Most likely, he doesn't even know about that reporting because he didn't know about an agreement that he had with us for our drop in office. So I'm assuming I'm gonna assume that he doesn't know about this either. So Mhmm. We'll follow-up with them. Yeah. Like Ryan Shirley,
now that school is out and graduation's out Mhmm. And it's summer, you know Summer might be a little bit easier.
You know? It'll be out till the twenty seventh. Okay. Get your work date till the twenty
ninth. Okay. Okay.
As long as there's the same pursuit for Northport High School as it is United Way. Yes. Perfect. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We'll we'll follow-up.
And I think that's what it is. If there's some moving There's a lot of moving parts. And I understand that. And we can handle that with grace, but we also have to determine Re consideration. At what point do we say, okay, that's it.
It's a lot of chasing around, but it's also a lot of transition. In a short bit of time.
The orchestra orchestra that's going to be because right now it's in total transition. Okay. That orchestra that's going to be is out of funds forever. Yes. Because of something that happened back here which really wasn't responsible for. Yeah. Okay.
We'll do another follow-up.
Thank you, guys. Alright. This is for the board specialist. Is there any public comment? There is no public comment. Okay. Alright. Then at this time, I call the meeting adjourned at somebody help me with the time?
03:25.
03:25. Way to go.
