Thank you, Madam Chair. The report is on the screen because we recently received the numbers from finance. And if you remember last month, we didn't actually have any numbers. So we just talked about the business updates. But this time around, we're going to look at February through April to see how we're doing in those key spring months. And overall, we're doing quite well. We've got a slight increases on the food and beverage side versus last year. and a big one versus 2023. And then on the accommodation side, doing very well. And that matches up with the STR reports that we receive. STR is the company that does the proprietary research on the performance data for hotels in Miami-Dade County. And there's three key categories on STR. occupancy room rate and revenue per room we're down slightly on occupancy just a couple of percentage points but we're up quite a bit on revenue per room and daily room rate which is resulting in these higher numbers so overall we're doing quite well and then in the business district we talked about some of the recent closures 26 sushi and tapas 26 sushi walk recently closed and that was a restaurant that performed really really well so we hope There'll be a new one soon that will also do well. And then we've had a few openings this spring summer, including Bagel Boss. That was at Sohar's Gelato at 9543 Harding Avenue. And that's been the most. We also had La Vita y Bella, which is where Specchio was located at 9519 Harding Avenue. And I think those have been the most recent ones, but there's a few others in the works as well.

Discussion item number seven, summer Sundays. Okay.

Okay. Holiday lighting, 7C, because 7C was deferred. Sure. 7C, holiday lighting.

Sure and I'll recap a little bit for Clara because I know she's you're joining us, but you have the you know the proposal that was approved a few months ago in your packet and that included some you know elements here for town hall the big Christmas tree. There's an additional kind of turtle photo op that they included as well. And then we had selected lighting on the fronds for Harding Avenue. However, that was what was approved before. We then learned that the lights on our current trunks in Harding Avenue are going to be coming down in December because they really are not going to last beyond one year. So the question to the board was, would you like to keep the package that you approved with the fronds knowing that the trunks are not going to be lit or would you rather wrap the trunks with lights instead of the fronts. So we had that discussion last month, and I presented some options from the company that we engaged with, Holiday Outdoor Decor. The pricing is a little bit high on that. I think $64,000 was the annual, but they do expect those to last about two years. However, there are some questions about the service calls and whether what was included in those service calls or not. I learned that everything is basically included except the labor. So you're just paying for the labor. However, you know, labor can be expensive. So there is some cost to those service calls. So I did a little bit of extra research and I reached out to Miami Christmas lights, which is the other kind of big company in the region. And the other proposal that this board liked, you ended up selecting holiday outdoor decor, but you did like the Miami Christmas lights proposal as well. And they have a pretty good, option for that, which is, I sent it to you via email. And so there's a $50,000 option that is inclusive of all of the maintenance. And so this will last up to a year, but after the one year, if we renew with them, they will come and they will rewrap with brand new lights so that the lights are always crisp and new. And again, this includes any type of service call. However, unless we make a mistake and we cut one of their cables or whatnot. But if it's anything to do with their equipment, it's included, as is the labor. So that's the pricing on that. $50,000. They also sent us an option without the labor, which would be $45,000.

The one with the $50,000 include labor and materials, right? Or no, materials?

Yeah, the labor and materials, yes, for any damaged lighting or cost. I would personally, if you want to go that direction, I would probably go for the 50 that includes the service calls.

Yeah. And so the previous package that we had approved when it was fronds and not trunks was around 49,000. So if we remove the fronds from that package, um, and we add the trunks, we'd get to around 76 ish. However, I also shared a couple of additional options that the town manager asked me to look into that was lighting for maybe some other areas in town, like Veterans Park, the Community Center, and 96th Street Park. So those are in your agenda packet as well. And they're not big. Let me just pull up the agenda packet. They're not major installations, but they can add a little bit of animation to the area. So I think the total cost for those was something like $4,000 or $5,000. I'm just going to pull it up.

And it's not included in that?

No. So it would have to be added. So if you were to approve these additional areas plus the full trunks plus the other elements, we would come out to $79,000 something.

Okay, so this was, you know, the options for holiday outdoor decor for the tree trunks. It was $38,000 just for the holiday season or $64,000 for the permanent. And here is Veterans Park. So $1428, you know, would be the price to wrap the main medjools at Veterans Park. And, of course, there's also the monument sign that would have Um, the feature. So again, for your consideration, it's not major, but it might be nice given that it's kind of the Southern entrance, you know, the most prominent entrance to the town. We've got the community center palm trees on the front exterior. These would just be for the holiday season, but I think it could look nice. And then at 96th Street Park, there's this one medjool on the corner at 96th Street where we don't have a whole lot of lighting, but there is a monument sign that is going to have the decor. And the monument signs are blue and green, so I think this proposed lighting here has some blue and green elements, so it could tie in nicely. Again it's not major nine hundred and eighty two dollars but it might be a nice way to just make that corner pop right next to the park. So we'll need to discuss that and then the other thing we need to discuss is the style of the monument signs because at the last meeting The board voted on two and two, two different styles, which I don't know. We've got a more modern option here, and then we have the more classic option.

The board was split, so I just want to revisit this discussion.

We have to revote, is what you're saying. You have to revote, yes. I'd be glad to. I do have a question, though, Frank. The $50,000 that includes maintenance for a year is a different company than the company we originally gave them. Can we do that?

Yes. I don't think it'll be problematic because there won't be two sets of cables in downtown. Miami Christmas Lights would essentially be doing downtown, and the other company would do the rest. So I think it would work, yeah.

Okay. And then what happens after year one, after the 50?

After year one, if the board wishes to renew, you know, we would just do a new contract and then they come and they rewrap.

Yes. Again, just to recap, you also have the option of just doing the trunks seasonally, which was 38. But that's just a few months for 38.

Yeah, because we are the only city that really keep, that we kept the lights the whole year, because by Harvard they take it just like the four months, and then, or less the four months, because they put it just in December. But we decided we want to give it that option to keep the light there.

The businesses do like it because it just adds some light and some shine to the district, so they like the atmosphere that it creates.

Personally, I like the idea to put that turtle instead of the other thing, but I think it's good to have the 96th Street Park also, and put some lights in the community center too. I agree with that. I don't know if the rest of you, I don't like the thing of that turtle, that turtle that is there. for $12,000.

And, yeah, just a matter of finding somebody who can execute it and is available and has a good trajectory.

Sarah List, 424 91st Street, Surfside. So just coming back with a few more theme ideas because we made the event July 27th now. But just to review, these were the dates that, these are the dates we've decided on. So July 27th, August 17th, and September 7th. And then these were the themes. Sorry?

Did we do September 14th? We did. Okay. I'm so sorry. Okay. Yeah. So we'll change that. But these were the themes that we had discussed for the initial presentation. I'll review them because I think maybe some of you are not here, and then we'll talk about the new theme. So we had freedom and flip-flops because we were trying to do it around the July 4th, Slice and Surf, and Samba on the Beach. this one we can still create kind of an Americana themed beach party we can do you know Americana art activities I still have the flip-flops idea which was kind of cute and then food kind of going along that or we can pivot to something new if you guys want to do that so just reviewing what that was for when we had intended to do it would have been like this past Sunday so which actually the weather I don't think was so great for us. So it all works out. Okay, so slice and serve. This was the one where, you know, I said we would sort of do like an Italian theme with the pizza and gelato. I did get in touch with an... pizza vendor not kosher but that can do fresh pizza so I'm still I'm trying to understand from a kosher vendor if they can make fresh timely pizza in a fast way on the beach and we're still figuring that out so that's still a possibility this way it's it's fresh it's not being brought in boxes so that's still something we can do so that's for that theme And then Samba on the Beach, which is kind of, you know, something that we've done a lot in the past, which is we have, you know, Brazilian, this Brazilian world band, which is really great and people love them. And then percussion. We can do capoeira demonstration, Brazilian bites and drinks and that kind of thing. So kind of a Brazilian theme. I think there's a huge... There's like a huge Brazilian community around the beach and they have like Miami Blocko and all these different organizations. So I think if we promote it as a Brazilian themed event, I think we might actually like get a larger community to attend, you know, which is one of our goals. So I think that would be great. Okay, so these are some of the new themes that came up with, open to discussions, and I have some, you know, I fleshed them out a little bit, but Kites and Bites, Tapas and Tides, and Sun, Sea, and Meze. So again, you know, trying to keep the food as like a big tie-in. Kites and Bites was sort of like inspired by the kite festival that takes place in Holover. I thought we could maybe bring a little bit of that to the beach. and do like, you know, kids can do or adults can do the kite making station and then bring their own kites if they want and kind of have this, you know, flying kites thing. And then just do like a slider, like slider situation, slider bar. And then, you know, we always have the fresh fruit and the snacks. So this was the idea for this one. I think it's a fun one. We have never done it before, so might be a good one. Sunsea and Meze is kind of picking up on a Mediterranean theme. You know, you would maybe get an 80s band, Meze kind of tasting table with different dips and things like that. A spice blending station could be fun, like do take home little jars of spices, just kind of playing on lemon, tomatoes. that kind of thing, and maybe a tea lounge. So these are just mood board kind of just things that if I could get maybe a wine rep to come, maybe they could do a little bit of a talk about different Mediterranean wines, rosés, things like that. I think that could be fun. Lend a little more of an adulty corner to the festivities. So that's for that one. And then tapas and tithes is kind of going on the Latin theme. And we would do, you know, sort of a Latin maybe flamenco or a Latin fusion band, tapas tastings, sangria, and we do like art activities to relate to the theme. So these are some alternatives. I'm open to, you know, what you guys think. I mean, if you have want to stick with the original ones, you want to go with the new ones, if you have thoughts, we can mix and match.

I want to make a comment about the time, because we made that comment before, that three to six, three is still very hot. Okay. You can change it at least at four, that we were asking, because it's summer.

Through the chair, I mean, last year you changed it from four to seven to three to six. We could change it back, but it has already been advertised in the Gazette and stuff as three to six.

Well, I don't know what everyone thinks. So maybe if it's been advertised, we keep the one and then change the future ones, if that's something that I think is...

And then for the 4 o'clock, I think it's going to be more people from the town. I mean, that is my comment. And it's less hot at 4 o'clock than 3 o'clock. I mean, it's a proposal, that's it. No, I don't think it makes a huge difference one way or the other for an hour. It doesn't swing it any which way for me. If I'm at the beach, personally, I'd like to be there earlier. I'm usually not going to come to the beach unless I'm just gonna go in for a swim and then go back home, and then I'll do it at six. But if you're gonna spend the day at the beach, you'd probably be there anyway. So it doesn't matter.

I think most of the people who come for these events, they are coming for the event, not for staying at the beach. Right. I was thinking that people who is coming to the page. That's cool.

I mean, if it's a thing, if you feel like that's important, I would support that. I like the tapas and tides, too. I don't know. I think we've lost our opportunity on the other freedom thing. OK. Yeah. Americana. We're losing freedom. Don't get me started.

I just wanted to comment on the time. What I like about the earlier time is that there's time for the cleanup because that's always a concern if it's too close to when it gets dark. That's what I was looking up.
