Brief History of the Newport Beach Police Department and its Facilities

City staff will present a brief overview of the history of the Newport Beach Police Department with a focus on its previous headquarters locations and how the current location came to be. Recommended Action: (1) This is a presentation item only. No action.

Previous Ad Hoc Committee Efforts and Current Status

Members of the recently dissolved Newport Beach Police Headquarters Assessment Committee and City staff will describe the efforts of that Committee and will present the current status of the City's efforts related to assessing locations for the headquarters. Recommended Action: (1) This is a presentation item only. No action.

Current Headquarters Facility and Needs Assessment

City staff will present an overview of the current facility, including its maintenance and operational challenges, as well as the needs assessment completed to understand what is necessary to consider when planning for a new facility. Recommended Action: (1) This is a presentation item only. No action.

Discuss Agenda Items for Next Meeting and Next Steps

The Committee will discuss potential agenda items for the next regular meeting, as well as next steps. Recommended Actions: (1) Discuss potential agenda items for the next meeting; and (2) Provide guidance on next steps for the Committee.
