Oh, excuse me. My goodness. Calling the planning board meeting to order. The August planning board meeting uh at 6:00 on August 14th. Moving on to the agenda. Do I hear a motion to adopt the agenda? Make a motion to adopt the agenda. Do I hear a second? I'll second. All those in favor? I I Okay. Um, moving on to the approval of the minutes. Do I hear a motion to approve the minutes?
I'll make a move a move to approve the regular minutes from July 10th meeting. Second. All those in favor? I. Okay. Moving on down to public comment. Do we have anyone that would like to make a public comment? No one signed up, Madam Chair.
Okay. Okay. All right. Thank you. Um, moving on to old business. We move on to southeastern North Carolina regional hazard mitigation plan of 200 25 update and I'm going to ask Deb to tell us about that. I may have already have sent you uh an email reminder when this first came out, but I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of the uh public meeting, virtual public meeting on August the 15th, which is next Monday at 6, it's going to run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. So, you know, just an hour. Big pardon.
August 15th is
uh August 18th. I'm sorry, I don't have my glasses on. Thanks. uh August 18th, sorry. Um you're in you're invited to join this public meeting to learn more about the southeastern North Carolina regional hazard mitigation plan. This is your chance to play a crucial role in building resilience in our region. Uh your participation is vital to help us identify risk, discuss past efforts, and shape the 2025 hazard mitigation plan to improve our community's resilience. The meeting is a platform to engage with the community, provide input, and make sure that the plan reflects our community's unique needs. They're going to cover uh sharing your experience and identify recurring risk, discuss mitigation actions that will enhance the region's resiliency, provide feedback that is crucial for a plan that truly reflects and serves our community. And the way to join um uh first of all the virtual event and registration is free and there's a QR code if you have your phones before you leave.
Was that me? Did I talk too loud? Something too close to your phone.
Something something. Uh there's a QR code that Ricky's brought up on the on the screen. So, if you have your phone, if you want to shoot the uh QR code, it'll bring you to that registration page and uh it'll register and it will also send you a calendar reminder uh if you you know select that. Um so, I think that's about it. So, uh, hopefully all of you will be able to, uh, participate that in that on August the 18th at 6 p.m. and, um, we'll go from there. So, any questions? Okay. All right. So, I'll uh I'll also shoot you out an email in case you have problems with the QR code or don't get it today to where that you click on that and and get registered. So, uh that's all I have. And and I think we have Chip online. Did Chip join us?
Okay. Yeah. All right. Chip, thanks for joining us today. Did you have anything that you'd like to address with the planning board this evening? Uh not tonight, Bill. Thank you. Okay. All right. All right. Did that uh is there anything for discussion?
Uh only thing I have for discussion is over the past two two weeks, I forget how long it's been, uh we've been uh interviewing individual applicants for the planner position for planner one. I am really very excited with getting somebody on board and uh I think that's going to help Kate and I both a lot as far as workload and u being able to get more things done that we have not been able to get to because of the increased development. Uh I mentioned earlier and I think I've talked to or sent an email to the town attorneys. Uh, I'd like to get the zoning map updated. So, that's one. Uh, that'll be a good size project. Number two, we'll be doing uh an update on the UDO to include the 2024 legislative changes that came out last year that were effective like January 1. So, there is a tremendous amount of work to keep two planners busy. So, I look forward to getting somebody in here and us getting organized and being able to uh um serve the needs of the citizen uh on a higher much higher level.
What is your what is your time frame for the interviewing process? And
we've completed the interviews. Um, we're taking care of some business that we hope to have wrapped up hopefully tomorrow maybe. Um, so it's going to be dependent upon uh the offer of acceptance and their uh ability, you know, what their timeline is, which I think is sooner rather than later. uh and also, you know, being able to um find a place to live locally. So, you know, as all of you probably know, the cost of living um here is uh can be a challenge, but I remain hopeful in getting somebody in. Um certainly by the time the next time that we meet, you'll be introduced to your new planner. So, I I don't plan on
So, it's imminent.
It is imminent. And since it's not 6:15, I I'll just say I I don't plan on like getting somebody in here and walking out the door. Uh I my intent is I don't want to leave an empty seat. I don't want to turn around and just walk out and then uh town manager, you know, trying to, you know, fill a position and there not be any uh changeover or um turnover. we used to call it in the Navy where your replacement comes in and then you you know get them up to speed and stuff. And so I really look forward uh to that interaction and being able to um take care of a lot of projects that I just have not been able to get to. So, but we've got a new, if you haven't met the new town clerk, uh we have a new town clerk also. Uh we have a new public works director. Uh so, we're, you know, we're making large steps in getting the house in order and uh getting some stability hopefully. So,
great. That sounds good. Okay. Does anybody else have anything that they'd like to bring up? Okay. Thank you. Um, do I hear a motion to adjurnn? A second. Okay. All those in favor? I I do. You know what?
