All right. Welcome, everyone. I am calling to order the Utilities Committee meeting for April 28. Please rise and join me for the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. Please be seated. And roll call of membership, let the record note that Alder Krot is excused. And we will start with introductions from my left.
Patrick Hayden, District 7.
Vered Meltzer, District 2. Alex Schultz, District 9. Nate Wolfe, District 12. Thank you. And we do need an approval of the minutes from our previous meeting, 20 six-five 100, for the March 24 meeting minutes.
Move to approve. Second.
All right. All in favor say aye.
Aye.
Any opposed or abstaining? If none, that is approved, four-zero. We do not have any public hearings or appearances today. We'll move into our action items. 20 six-five zero one, the request to award Project F26 Sanitary and Storm Sewer Cleaning and Televising to Green Bay Pipe and TV LLC in an amount not to exceed $352,500
Move to approve. Second.
All right. We have a motion and a second. Would staff like to introduce the item? Deputy Director Neuberger, what's your mic? Go ahead.
Thank you, Chair. As is typical, we aim for quantities that we think will fit within the budget. And then in this case, if the bid comes in a little bit over that, we'll just limit the amount of work so it matches the budget and in this case the award matches that as well.
All right. Thank you. Any comments or questions from committee? Seeing none, let's go ahead and vote. All in favor say aye.
Aye.
Any nays or abstentions? There are none. So that is recommended for approval four-zero. Next, have item 20 six-five zero two, elect a vice chair for the Utilities Committee. So at this point, I am opening the floor for nominations.
I'll nominate Alder Schulz.
A second.
All right. A second is not needed, but we appreciate it. Are there any other nominations? Seeing none, Alder Schulz, do you accept the nomination?
I do accept.
All right. Since we have a single nominee, let's go ahead and vote, whether we need to or not. All in favor say aye. Aye. Any abstaining or All right. Well, congratulations. Alder Schulz, you are the Vice Chair of Utilities Committee for the year.
All
right. Twenty six-five zero three, we need to set the meeting date and time for the Utilities Committee to meet. Are there any concerns from committee or staff about this time, or is this time good for everybody?
I guess I'll just ask Chair if you feel like there could be some movement on the meeting time or if it feels like this is an appropriate scheduled time for utilities to meet.
I like this time. I do know that with new membership, if this is too early for people and we wanted to explore, moving it back. There aren't any other meetings that happen after this. So we do have that opportunity. But if it's not needed, I do like this time.
I guess one thing I would wonder about is, if this works for auto quote because it it I I didn't get the email, but I apparently, it didn't work for him today. So I'm wondering if that's a consistent thing or if it's a one time thing.
All right. With that in mind, could we hold the item for setting the meeting date and time? Or is
His email that he sent today states, this is quote hoping the meeting date and time don't change.
Okay. All right. And in that case, let's keep it the way it is.
I would only pose the question to the rest of the committee. If this time is good for everyone else, then I'm good with it. Works for me then.
All right. Thank you all. We will continue to meet at 04:30 on Tuesdays. So 260504, designate a contact person who can answer specific questions about agenda items for the utilities committee. So on the utilities side of things, that would be director Stempa.
Sure.
All right. And on the public works side of things, do we want who would be the designee?
That would be myself. Alright, I think Director Stempas has been the primary director contact for Utilities Committee but I would consider myself secondary
if need be. I know years ago there were two and not sure what is the preference but whatever works best for everybody.
Yeah, and the undecisive, sure, was just because of the questions that I cannot speak for questions that would pertain to Laura's department. But certainly could funnel them and get information back to streamline it if that's the preference of the committee.
Wonderful. All right. Thank you very much. Information items we have our water main break reports twenty six-five zero five, the reports for February and March 2026. Anybody have any comments or questions about those reports? It does look like we're off to a good start for 2026 to have fewer breaks than 2025. Also, I was impressed by the relatively short duration of almost all of the breaks. We're catching them quickly. All right.
Brett.
Alder Wolf or Alder Schulz? Me. Alder Schulz, go ahead.
Sorry. That's all right. I didn't get a chance to review the brakes report this year, but I gather we're doing better than we have in years past. Is there anything that we could be doing to address more of these? Is there something staff would like us to deal with when we're looking at the number of breaks and how we're doing them annually, any more focus we could put on these? Or is this essentially doing what we can and we're doing a good job?
I can take the first crack at that. So I would say to continue to be supportive, as counsel has been, for our CIP budget requests. I think that's been very helpful to get us to this point. Okay.
Thank you. Anything else? All right. Seeing nothing else, we'll move to item number eight.
Move to adjourn. Second.
I have a motion and a second to adjourn. All in favor say aye.
Aye.
We are adjourned. Thank you all very much.
