Good evening. I'll call the City of Joliet board of fire and police commissioners meeting to order. Today is Monday, 01/12/2025 at 05:45PM. For the record, the meeting started late due to technical difficulties. With that said, we'll go to roll call.

Secretary's report for 01/12/2026. On the fire department side, applicant number 56, Jamie Aaron was removed from the list on 12/13/2025. On the police department side, applicant number 63, Jake Donnie withdrew on one seven of twenty six. Applicant number 65, Brian Flam, removed for failure to meet requirements. That was on 01/08/2026.
Applicant number 69, Eduardo Torres, was removed for the same reason. Failure to meet requirement, one eight of 26. Applicant number 73, Lloyd Van Lissam, was removed also for failure to meet requirements, one eight of twenty six. And number 76, Miriam Medina withdrew on 01/09/2026. And that completes secretary's report for this meeting.

I've reviewed the work history of lieutenant candidate Ron Veranda and found that there throughout his career, he's received numerous awards, including several unit merit awards, letters of appreciation from citizens. I actually reviewed his file, and there was quite a few awards and recommendations and letters of appreciation. In addition, he has no disciplinary action within the recent last five years. As a result, I find no cause to prevent him from performing his duties if promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
Thank you, chief. Is there a motion to approve the promotion of sergeant Ronald Veranda to lieutenant Veranda?

Commissioners, I have reviewed the work history of sergeant candidate James Kilgore and found that throughout his career, he's received numerous awards including two officer of the year, numerous officers in the month, and unit merit and division recognitions awards, and including several letters of appreciation. In fact, his file was so thick, I stopped counting. In addition, he has no disciplinary record over the last five years. As a result, I find no cause to prevent him from being promoted from performing his duties if promoted to the rank of sergeant.
