City Council - workshop

Let me call to order the September 1st. 2026 City Council workshop. Did anyone sign up to speak?

Bill Brown, 2522 East Pasadena Boulevard, Bear Park, Texas. Four weeks ago, I brought two issues to the city council. Twice before that, I brought both issues to department heads in the city, and I received no response whatsoever. Am I doing something wrong? I mean, the city that... I used to be associated with if a resident brought an issue to the city, you might not get the response you wanted, but you got a response. I have gotten no response, three attempts on two issues, no response whatsoever. What am I doing wrong? If you guys don't know, I don't.

The last time you were here, I asked you to get with Mr. Stokes, and I'm assuming you did. Did you talk to Mr. Stokes after the last time you were here?

No. He stayed at the desk.

I don't remember the first two times. I do remember coming to City Council, and I hope City Council remembers me.

Well, I remember you, but I don't remember what you brought to the table the last time you were here.

3917 Clover has been abandoned for three years. It is a falling down dump. There are animals living in it. We have a city park across from my house that is locked 90 plus percent of the time.

You're talking about the adult or across the street from you.

Why? Kids learn to roller skate there, ride bicycles, drive cars, race remote control cars, none of which I think is a problem. If anybody would complain about it, it would be me, and I can't see any reason to complain.

And I can't get a response. So obviously, I'm doing something wrong. Well, if you can't remember who you talked to, I don't know how we can follow up with whoever you spoke to to see why they didn't follow up with you. Can you understand? I'm pretty sure the last time you were here, I asked you to get with Mr. Stokes. And I'm going to say it again, get with him after this meeting. And I'm sure we'll look into it.

OK, and the park?

The park that's closed across the street, the adult park.

I'm assuming he's talking about, is there a gate or something for parking lot? Yes, it's locked. Yeah.

OK. If you didn't turn it in to code enforcement, I don't know why anybody would be looking at it unless it was reported. Because that's typically how it works.

OK. Well, I don't remember what you reported last time. But I didn't make notes. And I asked you to get with Mr. Stokes. So if you get with him after this meeting, then he'll follow up with that and make sure code enforcement looks at that.
