We are my mother and father's property is the 805 Southwest 12th Street and we are currently in the process of signing the house over to my niece, her granddaughter, and the tribe and my niece are already in conversation of rehabilitating the home. So, they the tribe is going to help my niece get everything back up to code and get everything livable once again.
That's our goal as well. We need livable houses. Absolutely. Um, so let me tell you how the process works and please everybody listen to my explanation. John, you listen to make sure I don't say something wrong. If your home gets put on or if your building, your house gets put on the DND list by the council, you will have 30 business days, which is about 45 calendar days to get a permit. Once you get that permit, you have six months to complete the work. Is that right?
That's correct. There is a provision that if you have made adequate progress, you can have an extension of time and the council loves people that come back that are showing a good effort to get done but they just didn't quite meet the time frame. Council has been very good about working with them. Do you understand that process, ma'am? I understand that. All right. Thank you very much for coming. Anyone else want to speak on this address? That is correct. Okay. Thank you. You're welcome. Uh that brings up 1110 Northwest Uclid Avenue. Please make your way forward. John

I've been to the city here to get paperwork to start with utilities clearing with that to have it removed, the structure removed. You plan on removing the structure? Yes, I do. It's great. And I think that we wave or have price dump fees. Is that right, John? If they if he gets a demo permit and removes it himself, don't we give some kind of discounts? Currently, we do not know, sir.
I have a bid um to have it removed to have a guy that said he could do it for me for $8,000. So, it's just been a matter of saving up a little money. Okay. It's been unlivable for a while since I purchased it. All right. Well, we appreciate you working with us, sir. Thank you for 30 days. Uh properties were notified in accordance this property was notified in accordance with state statute um on 128 of 26. As of this morning, no permits have been issued. Okay. What is the date of the fire? 617 of 2025. Thank you. You're welcome, sir.
Seeing no questions, I'll open the public hearing. Anybody wishing to speak on this item, please come forward. Yes, sir. if you could please give us your name and address. My name is Leroy Hunter and I currently reside at uh 6411 Northwest Arrowhead Drive here in Latton. Okay. And what do you have to tell us, sir?
Okay. I originally bought this property as it is my primary residence. I bought this to fix up and live in. I was over the road truck driver. I started working on the house. Had furniture in it. had every time I come in, I'd work on the house and stuff. Uh the I didn't get too far along, like you said. Obviously, somebody broke into the house. The homeless people have been a big problem over there. Broke into the house while I was gone, set the house on fire, and uh I didn't even hear about it. I was paying a kid to go by the house every other day and check on the house to make sure and to keep me infor so it wasn't just nothing going on. And he went a week without going by. And then he called me and he said, "Oh no, we got a major problem. You've had a fire." So that that's what I called the fire department. They couldn't talk to me on the phone. At the time I was still driving for H Heartland Express. They said they didn't believe me that I'd had a fire that I told them. I said, "Look, I can show you the newspaper article, the the Anyway, they're a pretty heartless trucking company. They I fought with them for quite a while until but I have been trying to get a permit to destroy to to demolish it myself. I have the first time I submitted was on 710. I have submitted this over and because I they would the cities or the codes tell u permits tells me they are not allowed to give me any kind of a permit until all the utilities have been camped and I have to use this document to get them camped. So far nobody will respond to this. I've talked to several contractors here in town. The uh I wish I could have
caught that other guy and found out who he was talking to. The smallest price I've gotten is $25,000. I've gotten as high as $30,000. They're wanting almost what I paid for the property just to demolish, which isn't reasonable. Uh I think they feel that because I'm old, they can, but they've tried to tell me it'll take like 40 40 cube dumpsters to I've done too many burnouts and I mean, you know, I know construction. That's not true. But if if I can just get help with getting the permits, I will take care of getting that. I've got lots of friends who've said we will help you. Uh I've talked to
So sir, are you having trouble getting the utilities disconnected? Because it sounds to me like all you lack Charlotte, can you come and help us on this? It sounds to me like the only thing standing the way between you and a permit is getting your utilities disconnected. Getting them to sign this paper and return it to codes. Each one of them has and I've sent this to all of them at least six times since, like I said, I sent it the first time 710. They won't respond. Now, the contractors I've talked to have told me they never respond. that they literally hire people to go down there and sit in their office and pester.
Who's they? Can you tell me who they is? Is that utility companies? No. Who told me that? That that's what they had to do to get it done or who who told you who's not responding? The utility companies. The water company. The has to sign off on the water and the sewage. Okay. Now, the water I would think would be easy enough because they put new water lines on. Okay. Hold on just a minute. What can you tell us, Charlotte? Okay, so it looks like um the only permits that have been applied for were remodels. Um we haven't had a demo permit applied for because I can't until you all get these. You can apply for the permit.
That's not what they tell me when I go down there. Um if can I have that? I'm the supervisor down there. So I will we will get an input in the system and I'll get your phone. Okay. Tell you what I think we need to do, council. I think we need to Hold on for me just a minute. I think we need to close the public hearing and continue this to the next DND meeting.
Okay. And let him work with Charlotte and get this straightened out. Okay. So, does anybody else want to speak on this item? Seeing none, I'll close public hearing. Um, Councilman, can you make such a motion? I motion to continue this item or excuse me to I motion to continue this item till after the public hearing has been closed uh and table this matter to the next DND which looks like it's the 24th of February.
