Items are limited to uh comments are limited to items on the agenda. If anyone wishing to speak may do so now. Do we have any written comment or anyone on the phone? No, we don't.

21:53 – 22:530

Okay. If anyone want would like to call in, you can do so by calling 702 589-9629. Again, that's 702589-9629. And one last opportunity to call in. 702-589-9629 is the number. Okay, with no one wishing to make public comment, we'll close public comment and move on to the regular agenda. Item number one is approval of the minutes of the July 28th, 2025 meeting. Do I have a motion uh to approve those minutes?

22:51 – 23:210

Move to approve. A second. We have a second with second. Thank you. Any discussion? Okay. All in favor? I I. Any opposed? Those minutes are approved. We'll move on to item number two is overview and possible discussion uh regarding the administration of the park of the department. And we'll hear from Jennifer Spinkling.

23:18 – 25:180

Thank you. Um so we're starting with the walking trails at Vets Park. They're going to be resurfacing them and I think it'll be in a couple different phases. So there's they were doing a chip seal starting next to two the 26th whenever that is. And um they'll do just the cracks in the road and then they'll go through and do the trails. Uh, Delpra playground, if you haven't noticed, is open and has been very busy since it opened. We see multiple families there every time that we have visited. So, we're pretty excited about that. the pickle ball courts. We are having our ribbon cutting on October 13th at 8:00 a.m. We're working to get lights there and we do have a donation for pickle ball lights, but it does have to be solar lights. So, we're working to see if it'll be adequate lighting because the solar ones you have to do them from the corners of the pickle ball court and to make sure that there's enough light uh in the middle part of the courts. So, we're still kind of doing the investigation on that right now. pool design. We're working with the design company VCBO on design and we have meetings every two weeks at minimum and corresponds regularly to ensure project is advancing. The next step is going to be to go out to bid for a construction company, which should be before end of year. And they kind of want those two to work together from that point on to make sure that our design that our construction

25:16 – 25:510

can come in and work with what the design company's doing that the construction company can do it. So, they'll work together from that point on. And I think that's about all I have. Does anybody have any questions? Okay. Okay. Hearing none, we'll move on to item number three. Uh still be from uh Jennifer be related to the golf courses.

25:49 – 27:490

Okay. So, high school golf is going to have state hosted in Boulder City at both Creek and MUN on October 13th and 14th. Class 3A, 4A, and 5A schools. Exciting for the courses. Both courses, golf rounds, and revenue are holding steady, exceeding previous year's figures. Maintenance includes routine mowing, trimming, and weed eating. The pump on Lake 6/9 at MUN is being repaired. Changing out the motor to ensure the pond water is circulating. MUN crews airified the greens at MUN and and creek. Aification is happening this week. It's a busy time year for golf in the valley because many courses are closed for receding and we to conserve water. Boulder City discontinued seating about three years ago. As far as the turf update, the bids came in quite a bit over budget. Little bit meaning 3 million. So staff and city council to determine the next step with that project. Currently a small turf reduction project at MUN expanding the cart changing area at the MUN golf course. there. The MUN um [Music] turf tech team is filling in cart path holes as well. And that's all I have for the golf course. Does anybody have questions? Doesn't look like it. We'll move on to the next item. Item number four, uh, matters pertaining to the recreation division, and we'll hear from parks recreation coordinator Michelle Fuller.

27:52 – 29:010

Good evening everyone. This past Friday, we hosted our second Jazz at bsentennial event, and it was a wonderful success. The weather was beautiful and we welcomed just over 200 attendees who came out to enjoy the incredible music of the Boulder City Jazz Quartet. Many families and community members even brought full picnics, making a true festival and relaxing event in the park. We're so grateful for the continued support and enthusiasm from everyone who attended. You will find a copy of our September through February program brochure in front of you. It highlights all of our upcoming events and offerings. Um, looking ahead, we're excited to host our annual Tiny Tots Halloween Trick and Treats event, which is going to be held October 30th in the old gym. Um, it will include both our morning and afternoon classes. We currently have 13 children enrolled in the morning and 14 in the afternoon. Um, a flyer is in front of you with more details. Do you guys have any questions?

28:59 – 29:430

Any questions for Michelle? No. Okay, thanks guys. Thank you Michelle. Move on to item number five, matters pertaining to the aquatic division. And we'll hear from aquatic coordinator Sierra Begs. I missed something. Yes, we have Bridget for sports. I'm sorry. That's right. We do. I'm sorry. This will be uh this is assistant sports coordinator Bridget Marterano. Sorry, we are on uh 4C, so I'm told. Sorry, Bridget.

29:39 – 31:370

No worries. Okay. Um for our youth sports, for a summary of our um 2025 summer sports camps at the Wreck, the sports camps were held Monday through Thursday each week um June and July. The summer we offered a total of 12 different sports programs broke into two different age groups, the 4 to 7 year olds and the 8 to 14 year olds. Across all sessions, we hosted a total of 1,956 participant dropins. And then the total revenue for 2025 was $25,030. Um for soccer, we are nearing the end of our youth soccer season. The last soccer games are scheduled for next Monday, September 29th. We have 27 or 290 kindergarten through 8th graders in a total of 20 or 31 teams, sorry. The youth volleyball clinic was this past Saturday morning. We are still taking registrations through this Thursday and the games are set to start Tuesday, October 21st. We have youth flag football clinic coming this coming Saturday. Um, we are taking registrations for that through next Thursday and those games will start Monday, October 27th. We are preparing for our annual turkey shoot and upcoming winter sports that will start in January. The turkey shoot will be Monday, November 24th and Tuesday, November 25th, starting at 6 p.m. at the ABC gym. And the winter sports that we're preparing for right now are kindergarten through 2 grade floor hockey and third through seventh grade youth basketball. And for our adult sports, we have co-ed softball is currently in their fourth week of games. We have seven teams and around 70 participants. Uh women's volleyball is playing their

31:34 – 32:170

third week of games tonight. We have six teams and 60 participants. and we are preparing for our winter sports of men's basketball that will start in January. In your packet, you'll find flyers for all of our upcoming sports. Any questions? Do you have sufficient number of coaches for your youth sports? We are always looking for coaches. I thought so. Always. Are you uh volunteering? I'm just making sure people are here listening that that they might uh might want to volunteer and coach. But, uh, Rod Woodbury is an excellent coach.

32:14 – 32:290

I could sign you both up for basketball. That, that would be Rodney's area. No question. Thank you. Appreciate it. Anybody other questions? Quick question. Oh, yes.

32:26 – 33:050

Or a quick statement. Um, I know that you guys have been experimenting with how uh teams are divided and uh just uh take a look at what has happened over the last few seasons of the current just to make sure that teams are e evenly um the talent is evenly uh placed across teams. Um so if the current method is working for that then then great. If not, then uh just make sure that uh that's something to keep in mind.

33:03 – 33:330

We will keep that in mind. We try really hard. It depends on whether we've seen the kids before, if they've come to clinic, and so that just varies each season, too. But we will keep that in mind. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Anything else for Bridget? Thank you. Okay. Now we get to hear from aquatic division and aquatic coordinator Sierra Begs.

33:30 – 34:350

Hello. Okay. Um, the bubble is going up on September 30th. That's next Tuesday. And we have a projected reopening date of October 13th. We do have some mechanical work or work going on in the mechanical room. So, there's a possibility that that time frame's extended a little bit. Hopefully, not too much. Um, and then we had three new lifeguards start today and we're hoping that three more will finish up their orientation with HR this coming week and they can start with us as soon as the bubble goes up. And our adaptive swim lessons are continuing to grow. We have a total of six kids now and they are all planning to continue through the winter time which is awesome. Most kids stop swim lessons in the summer and our numbers go down a lot. Um and then we will start um another session of swim lessons in November. We won't have any in October for the bubble. And yeah, that's it.

34:31 – 34:520

Any questions for Sierra? All right. Thank you. Thank you. And move on to item number six. uh an overview from Jennifer Spinklink uh regarding Bootleg Canyon uh area.

34:49 – 36:140

Okay. Our trail maintenance employee has been working on the downhill trails getting it ready for the busy downhill mountain biking season. We have experienced a minimal amount of erosion during the recent rains. He was quite pleased that it didn't do more damage. We're also currently looking for volunteers to assist with trail maintenance. So, um, if you know anybody that's interested, please send them our way. The races happening now that the weather is better, it's going to be a much busier time on the mountain. So, we would appreciate any volunteers that want to work. Um, as far as the zipline goes, the zipline operations went out to bid a second time. Unfortunately, we received zero submissions. And as you may recall, the last time we advertised it, we only had one submission and the contract was not able to be negotiated. But there is an upside now that we have not received any responses. We can directly contract with someone if we can find a company with the credentials without the bidding process since we have had two failed attempts. That's all I have. Do you have any questions?

36:12 – 36:470

When when do you expect to to start that process and with a trying to find a non-bidding non- bidding? I I don't know the answer to that, but I'll sure have Julie let all of you know. Okay. When she gets back. All right. Thank you. Uhhuh. Any questions on uh Bootleg Canyon? No. Okay. Moving on. Item number seven. This is com uh commission reports. Uh we start with you, Lauren. Do you have any? I don't have anything today for me.

36:44 – 37:310

Only thing I have is uh we have kind of the start of our festival season. So this weekend, Saturday is Worst Festival in Bsentennial Park and the following weekend is Art in the Park. Uh that's probably the biggest event uh for Boulder City and that would be October 4th and 5th. So come out and support both those events, please. Just want to mention there's a astronomy fest at Veterans Park this Saturday. Um, I believe that's in coordination with Clark County Parks and another group. So, looking forward to that. Um, I think that's all I've got.

37:28 – 38:070

Terry, Alexis or Sydney, do you have anything you'd like to share with us? Okay. Do you know when homecoming is? Uh, okay. That's coming up soon. All right. Very good. Anyone else uh with a commission report? None. Okay. We'll open it up for our last public comment. And this can this public comment period can be on any subject, but still limited to three minutes. Do we have anyone on the phone or any written comment? No, we don't.

38:05 – 39:000

Thank you. If someone would like to call in, they may do so by calling 702-589-9629. Just a few more seconds. Opportunity to call in by calling 702-589-9629 for public comment. Okay. No public comment. We'll go ahead and close public comment and adjourn the meeting. [Music]
