At this time, I'd like to call the December 8th, 2025 board of adjustment meeting uh for the town of Fuqua Verina to order. I do believe we have a quorum tonight. So we can proceed to business. The first item on the agenda tonight is the approval of the meetings, the meeting notes from our uh August 11th, 2025 board of adjustment meeting. Um the purpose of this agenda item is to consider approval of the minutes from the board of adjustment meeting um on August the 11th, 2025. Has everyone had a chance to review the meeting the minutes? Yes. Yes.

Yes. Does anyone have any changes or corrections to the meet minutes? No. Not at this time. No. Do I have a motion to approve the minutes from the August 11th, 2025 meeting? Make a motion. Um, our next agenda item is item 5A, which is the board of adjustment meeting schedule for 2026. Um, the purpose of this agenda item is to consider setting the board of adjustment meeting uh regular meeting schedule for 2026. Um, is there any further information about the schedule from the staff?

Um, no. So, just to note that we are having to shift the January meeting um to I believe it is the 14th and we will likely have a January meeting. Um the town is the town board is holding a special meeting on our normal meeting day that second Monday. So, we're getting bumped back to Wednesday. So, that's really the only change. Um we generally have always switched it in July because the town board only has one meeting in July. So, that one is pretty standard. I was thinking that the that the March meeting is also a different night. Isn't it a Tuesday? Yeah, I think that was another Yeah.

All right. At this time, do I have a motion to approve and adopt the proposed 2026 meeting schedule for the town of Fuqua Arena Board of Adjustment and set the dates of the January regular meeting to January the 14th, 2026 and the March regular meeting date uh to March the 10th of 2026. Um and at this time uh with no more business um we uh uh would like to thank the staff for or ask the staff if there will be a January meeting date. Yes. for I guess this is for Pam. Um hey Pam. So when I lived in Jersey in Bridgewater, which is a town that um is probably close in size, square, you know, in terms of square miles and population and stuff, then um Fugquway, why do we have we only had two meetings I think the whole year, right? Is there is there a reason I mean is the planning board doing all of the other work, the league work and

Right. So there is a delineation between what the planning board does and what you guys do because they are legislative and you are quasi judicial. So you are hearing um challenges right zoning challenges um obviously variances and special use permits. So the board of adjustment is called as needed.

Um right and so there just has not been requests for those you know obviously we did have some special use permits. This will be in January. It's a special per use permit request. um to expand a daycare. So, we will be advertising that and getting that up to you. We will also generally we do your annual training in January. Um but we have one extra um ETJ opening that the new mayor would like to make the appointment for. So, because it's an ETJ position, it needs to actually be approved by Wake County. So, we didn't we won't have that name into them in time um to have that board member in place for the January meeting. So, we'll probably go ahead and and talk to you guys about um either doing your training if there's no

public hearings requested, no applications submitted. We can do the February training at the normal February meeting. Um if not, we'll we'll talk to you guys about a special time if we need it. But but generally, the board of adjustment is is scheduled as needed. So, we just have not had that many applicants this year, but we do have some coming up. So, I already know about some on on the radar. So, we should have a couple extra meetings this year. Thank I wasn't complaining about that. I just wanted to get some clarification. That's all.
