She's not muted. Uh, but I think her audio is turned way down. Oh, yeah. It doesn't show that it's off. How is this? Is this better? Yeah, there we go. There you go. Much better.

0:40 – 0:55Speaker 1

Oh my gosh. I think my audio I had to go into the settings. It was set for my headset at work still. So, I think I'm up and running now. Can everybody hear me? Yes.

0:52 – 1:55Speaker 1

Yeah. Perfect. How many do we have on?

1:50 – 2:15Speaker 1

Hey Pam, you got your camera working? We have four board members so far. I switched to my tablet. Going old school. Oh, there you go. There we go.

2:17 – 2:48Speaker 1

Oh, no. I got more than four. I have five. Five. Yes, I'm showing um Andrew Katherine Thomas, Chris Goens, and Douglas Congden as board members signed on. Hi, Pam.

2:52 – 3:25Speaker 1

Mr. Cogn, you're muted right now. So, if you start you want to talk or to uh do your vote, you got to unmute yourself. Can you guys hear me? Okay. Yes, sir. Yeah, we can. Yep. Okay, great. Loud and clear. Nice. There was just some background here, so I was just staying muted till we got started. Totally understand. Thanks. Does anybody else want to test their audio?

3:30Speaker 1

I guess I should test mine, Chris. Did that work? There you go. Yep, it worked.

3:42Speaker 1

This is how we did it during pandemic. Yeah, I know. Flashbacks, huh? Yeah.

4:03 – 4:32Speaker 1

Are you guys recording with AI? Um, we transcribe with AI. We transcribe. Yeah, that's what we do now with my meetings. Makes Eva's job a lot easier. Yes. Yeah. She's much happier. A great feature. Okay, everybody. We're going to go ahead and go live. All right. You are live.

4:30 – 5:15Speaker 1

At this time, I'd like to call the December 8th, 2025 board of adjustment meeting uh for the town of Fuqua Verina to order. I do believe we have a quorum tonight. So we can proceed to business. The first item on the agenda tonight is the approval of the meetings, the meeting notes from our uh August 11th, 2025 board of adjustment meeting. Um the purpose of this agenda item is to consider approval of the minutes from the board of adjustment meeting um on August the 11th, 2025. Has everyone had a chance to review the meeting the minutes? Yes. Yes.

5:14 – 5:53Speaker 1

Yes. Does anyone have any changes or corrections to the meet minutes? No. Not at this time. No. Do I have a motion to approve the minutes from the August 11th, 2025 meeting? Make a motion. Do I have a second? Second. All in favor? You go, Andrew. I All in favor, raise your right hand and say I. I. Anyone opposed? Raise your right hand and say nay. All right. The minutes are approved as written.

5:52 – 6:33Speaker 1

Just for documentation, I want to make sure I heard the audio correct. I have Thomas Gallow making the first motion and Andrew making the second. Yes, that'll work. Great. All right. Um, our next agenda item is item 5A, which is the board of adjustment meeting schedule for 2026. Um, the purpose of this agenda item is to consider setting the board of adjustment meeting uh regular meeting schedule for 2026. Um, is there any further information about the schedule from the staff?

6:31 – 7:14Speaker 1

Um, no. So, just to note that we are having to shift the January meeting um to I believe it is the 14th and we will likely have a January meeting. Um the town is the town board is holding a special meeting on our normal meeting day that second Monday. So, we're getting bumped back to Wednesday. So, that's really the only change. Um we generally have always switched it in July because the town board only has one meeting in July. So, that one is pretty standard. I was thinking that the that the March meeting is also a different night. Isn't it a Tuesday? Yeah, I think that was another Yeah.

7:11 – 7:56Speaker 1

All right. At this time, do I have a motion to approve and adopt the proposed 2026 meeting schedule for the town of Fuqua Arena Board of Adjustment and set the dates of the January regular meeting to January the 14th, 2026 and the March regular meeting date uh to March the 10th of 2026. I will make a motion to approve those meetings for the 2026. I'll second that. Thank you. All in favor, raise your right hand and say I. I. I. I. Anyone opposed, raise your right hand and say nay.

7:53 – 8:31Speaker 1

All right. The uh motion for the 2026 board of adjustment meeting schedule passes. All right. Um and at this time uh with no more business um we uh uh would like to thank the staff for or ask the staff if there will be a January meeting date. Yes. At this point in time I think we'll have one um agenda item, one public hearing for a January meeting. Okay. So one hearing you said. Yeah. Katherine, I have a question. Yes. For

8:26 – 9:02Speaker 1

for I guess this is for Pam. Um hey Pam. So when I lived in Jersey in Bridgewater, which is a town that um is probably close in size, square, you know, in terms of square miles and population and stuff, then um Fugquway, why do we have we only had two meetings I think the whole year, right? Is there is there a reason I mean is the planning board doing all of the other work, the league work and

8:59 – 9:22Speaker 1

Right. So there is a delineation between what the planning board does and what you guys do because they are legislative and you are quasi judicial. So you are hearing um challenges right zoning challenges um obviously variances and special use permits. So the board of adjustment is called as needed.

9:18 – 10:05Speaker 1

Um right and so there just has not been requests for those you know obviously we did have some special use permits. This will be in January. It's a special per use permit request. um to expand a daycare. So, we will be advertising that and getting that up to you. We will also generally we do your annual training in January. Um but we have one extra um ETJ opening that the new mayor would like to make the appointment for. So, because it's an ETJ position, it needs to actually be approved by Wake County. So, we didn't we won't have that name into them in time um to have that board member in place for the January meeting. So, we'll probably go ahead and and talk to you guys about um either doing your training if there's no

10:03 – 10:36Speaker 1

public hearings requested, no applications submitted. We can do the February training at the normal February meeting. Um if not, we'll we'll talk to you guys about a special time if we need it. But but generally, the board of adjustment is is scheduled as needed. So, we just have not had that many applicants this year, but we do have some coming up. So, I already know about some on on the radar. So, we should have a couple extra meetings this year. Thank I wasn't complaining about that. I just wanted to get some clarification. That's all. But thank you.

10:34 – 11:13Speaker 1

Great. Are there any other questions or comments? All right. Um if there's no other business to discuss, I will accept a motion to adjourn our December 8th, 2025 board of adjustment meeting. I make a motion to adjourn uh tonight's December 12th uh I'm sorry. Yeah, December 8th, uh, 2025 meeting. All right. All in favor, raise your right hand and say, "I." I. I. Anyone opposed? Raise your right hand and say nay. And the meeting is adjourned.
