City Council - Regular Meeting

Our agenda items for the meeting tonight.

No, sir. Under old business this evening, ordinance number 2025-11, an ordinance granting Central Alabama Electric Cooperative a non-exclusive franchise agreement. This is the second time it's been on the agenda, so it can be voted on this evening. Item two, permission to replace two Riverwalk bridges in Gold Scar Park. That also was a carryover from the last agenda. So it can that can be voted on this evening. And then under new business, approval to surplus and and donate the following field equipment supplies. Which one comes first? Surplus and donate or are we going to give it away? Is that what we're doing?

It can. Yes, sir. Does it have any value to it? It can have some if we take it to the auction. Yes, sir. It's running. And because they're running, they could probably bring some money there. Okay. Um A would be two Smith Co. Superstar Infield Diamond Groomers. Not going to need those any longer because we're going to turf, right? Yes. Okay. B. 2 and a2 tons of field drying agent and field conditioner. We don't need that because we got a drainage system under the field, right? Yes.

Okay. And then I Okay. There just A and B under there. So those are the two things that you will be considering. Then item four, approve the purchase of four headsets for firet truck 101. First time on the agenda. Anybody from the fire department here? Okay. Item five, approve the purchase of new firearms for the police department off of the state bid. This first time on the agenda. Is that information is in the packet? Yes, sir.

Okay. Item six, approve the job description for communications and tourism director. This is just broadening the job description that we already have. We just broaden that job description. Okay. Then item seven, approve reoccurring costs for LED lighting for the Woodbridge Woodbridge subdivision phase one. Okay. Where is the subdivision? That's the one behind Greg. 11.

Okay. What's the woodsy part of that? Seems like it had trees that there's also no bridge. When did they get the wood bridge out of that sub? No idea.

Do does it now have a fence that will go in and out that to make it to where younger kids can play and older kids can play? I was noticing it was Yes, we have a fence that will cut that 225. Where does it where does it dis there's holes? There's holes all through the middle part of that uh diamond field and then it changes it to 225. Where does it go? Where do you store it?

We've got two trailers that came with the project and the netting is 8 ft high. It rolls up on the trailers and then the poles go on the second trailer. I was noticed it looks very professional. I I just know one week it was there, next week it wasn't. You know, I just sure how that worked. understood that question about it. Thank you. Sorry. Are we going to donate this to you high school? I think that was what was in the email, wasn't it, Reggie? Yes, ma'am. Donating it to the hospital. They have asked if we would be willing to do that. Okay, so that will take care of that. uh had a wonderful weekend during which our staff did a fantastic job of having us ready for the Christmas parade and it was uh it was exciting all the numbers of people that we had here, the crowd that it drew. Um it was pretty much without incident. Uh we did have a terrible terrible wreck um about that time over on the bypass. Um but our police department I think handled that the best way they could with everything else they had going and u we appreciate what they did. We appreciate what all the departments did to have the success that we had this last week. It uh you don't just pull that off over the night. There's a lot of planning that goes into it and a lot of volunteers that uh we couldn't do it without those volunteers to come and help us do it. We appreciate everything that everyone did. Um anything else?

Yes. Um I want to thank Andrew and whoever your um group was that got me across that bridge. I didn't know. Emma and Shane, they were we made it work. I I think I was like I'm stuck. When did you you coming in and the drug store? Yep. They started rerouting the um from the um cous department on 14. They started rerouting the traffic and I went to Green Street and it was at a standstill. I finally made a way to turn around and and I made it to what is that street going up by the clean? Ready street.

You want to move to barricade? But uh I said, "Hey, I got I'm trying to get across that bridge." Andrew made it happen. All right, we got We'll have Christmas before we meet again. Yes. It's closer to my parents who are in their 80s. Need more care. It's a job opportunity I couldn't pass up. You working with a college up there? Transennsylvania University. It's definitely not uh not an easy choice. not something that uh after you retire up there, you can always come back. Happy to happy to keep working on Clay's old house. We've we've loved it here.
