They're expensive, but those work pretty well. But no, I got it because it was portable, because that was when I was flying back and forth to Daytona. But it really squeezes the nose wheel really hard.
If you could get one of those remote ones and then cut a little hole in the hanger, and you can feed it through to Randy and feed it through... Yeah, we can share it.
Or we can just come steal y'all's Electro from the number one.
That's overkill on those airplanes. Yeah, I know. That plate's big enough to pick the whole airplane up, you know.
So is this supposed to populate with text on here?
Well, what's wrong with touching it?
I mean, like, it has all these, and they're highlighted blue, so does it have details I can read?
Okay, all right. You know. got nine o'clock let's call three on my phone I know three minutes late let's call the September meeting of the airport advisory boarding into a meeting into order thank you invocation
Art, we thank you for this day. Thank you for the rain we've been having. We thank you for this body, the airport, the gift of flight. And we pray that you'd be with Terry Crawford's family in this difficult time. In your name we pray. Amen.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Roll call.
Camp Clifford.
Here.
Randy Klein. Here. Kevin Reed. Thomas Smolin. Here. Thad Boyd.
He has a quarrel in him.
Yes, we do have a quorum. Could somebody give me a motion to approve the minutes of our August meeting?
I'll have to move because he wasn't here, Mr. Clifford. So I'll move approval.
I would second that. And all in favor? Aye. Any unfinished business?
We're going to talk about the air show a little bit. On the screen up here, and you can follow along in your printed copy, this is the draft poster for the air show. It's getting quite a bit of traction online. A lot of people are talking about it. I think there's a lottery for presale tickets. I think officially they go on sale this week or next week. There's a strong interest in the chalets, I guess, which are the VIP tents. But we're excited. A lot of people are calling up. They want to be a part of it. They want to bring their airplanes up or they want to sell food, food trucks, the gamut.
Do us with hangers have to pay to enter our own hangar? I'm just curious.
You'll have access to your hangar. But if you want access to the actual event, the show, inside the barricaded areas, static displays of aircraft, things like that, you should probably buy a ticket. Yeah. Okay. So... And then this... This is what's circulating around. This is... This depicts the aerobatic box for the event. On the north side, it goes all the way to State Road 40. On the south side, the left side of the screen or the paper, it's just shy of 38. On the west side, it cuts right through Well Built. So we've talked to Well Built and let them know that they're going to have to – It's interesting. Their admin offices are outside the box just barely, so they could still work there, but the guys in the shop are not going to have access to that during the event. And then the crowd line, the primary crowd line, is literally right on the edge of the apron. So we're making full use of all the apron space out there. JLC is working really closely with Shelter Aviation. on the space allocations and just the events of the day. So they're here, it seems like, recently once a month for about a week. It'll pick up cadence as we get closer. Any questions on the air show? Okay. Moving on to new business, the airfield paint project. This has been before the airport board before. We tried unsuccessfully to secure a state grant to fund an airfield paint project. That was a few months ago. This is going to city council a week from today asking for their approval of the contract. It's a statewide contract that's bid through the state. And we're just piggybacking on that with the contractor. The funding on the actual paint project is about $70,000. We're going to fund that out of airport reserves, so we're asking them to transfer the money so that we can utilize that. But all of Taxiway Alpha is going to get restriped. All of the hold lines, the center line on Runway 1836, Taxiway Bravo and Runway 826 will get restriped as well. That's probably the worst paint out of everything on the airfield right now is the crosswind runway and taxi to Bravo. So hopefully this will get done before Christmas is my goal. Any questions on this one?
No, but I hear this voice in the back of my head asking about striping the T-hangers. That's a separate project.
I know. Yeah, we'll make sure to get that done. So I'll move into, if there's no more questions on the paint, we'll go right into the director's report. And we will talk about the T-Hanger project here in a little bit, about halfway down. So the... Florida DOT pond relocation, that's in design right now. It's literally just kicking off. So that's going to relocate a pond that's on the north end of the airport that's currently blocking the future extension of the new road we built. We're just going to offset that pond. It takes a lot of involvement and interaction with FDOT because it's technically their pond. We'll pay for the relocation, but we're going to have to run it by FDOT. It's going to take a little bit of time because it's just another entity that we have to seek approval on. Shouldn't be any issues, though, but that's currently in design.
Is this the one that's advantageous for Tuxiwa Charlie? This, no. Not on Tuxiwa Charlie. Okay. It has nothing to do. But there is some stormwater... Redo or something for taxiway Charlie, right? Correct. Okay.
Yes This one is just north of taxiway Bravo on the crosswind between State Road 40 And Bravo where the road is. Yes The Mouser rpz grading project that is I believe it's going to be awarded at the City Council on on the 15th so a week from today as well and That was put out to bid. That's an FAA-funded project. That's going to regrade the approach to runway 36 right off the end of the runway, on the approach end of 36. It's not quite standard, so that's what this project will do. Because of the Mouser light system there, there's some workarounds with that with some coordination with the tech ops people at the FAA. The sheriff hanger construction, that just recently kicked off the beginning of this month. They fenced it. They've started removing the old concrete landing pads. They're going to continue to clear and grub that site. Speaking with the contractor, they want to start going vertical in October. So they have an aggressive schedule. I think it's about 12,000 square foot hanger. On the terminal apron rehab, the contractors out there today, the lids have been delivered for the electric vaults, the two electric vaults on the apron. Remember, those are the vaults that will house the connections that Shelter will be able to utilize to provide ground power to aircraft in the area. The lids were on order since April. and they put them on a boat and it took forever to get across the pond, clear customs, but they're in our possession now. The contractor is literally working on installing them today. On the master plan, that has been submitted. The FAA has had that for a couple months now. I haven't heard anything back from them. I've had a couple phone conversations with other topics with the FAA and reminded them that they have it on their desk. They haven't looked at it yet. On the Alpha 9 driveway, this is a driveway access that will open up the south side of the Alpha 9 connector to additional hanger development. This is street side access, so it's a curb cut off of Southwest 60th Avenue. That remains in permitting. The city engineer has made a couple little tweaks and changes to it, but it remains in permitting. We're hoping that that'll get out to bid in the next month or so. That's also funded by an FDOT grant. That grant's getting old. They call it an old dog. So we need to get some activity on that, and I'll be pushing to move that forward. On the T-Hanger Campus Rehab, that is... If it's not already out to bid, it should be on the street either today or tomorrow. The T-hanger campus rehab, so all of the pavement within the existing T-hanger campus is going to get milled up and then repaved. I think it's about one and a half, two inches of asphalt that will go back in there. And then restriped with lead and lines to every single hanger. That was Mr. Crawford's wish.
That's the voice I heard. That's the voice you heard, yes.
The Alpha 12 infrastructure, we received an inquiry from a developer that wants to do the whole thing. So we're negotiating on that right now. The concrete pads, that's being bid at the same time, the same project as the T-hanger rehab. So we're looking at one contractor for the concrete pads. These concrete pads, there's three of them. One pad tied to the fuel farm, so it's an expansion of the fuel farm so that Shelter can install one or two additional fuel tanks, their fuel tanks. There's another pad that will go in just between the last T-hanger building and the fuel farm. There's a nice grass area right there. There's a pad that's going to go there. That's going to be an aircraft wash pad, oil water separator, electric and water connections. People can tow their aircraft there. I'd like to be able to put a canopy there and put it in the shade, aircraft to pull underneath of it, but that will be another project at a future date. But we're excited about that one. And then lastly, ops vehicles won't have to park in the mud anymore. We're expanding some parking around the terminal area. So that's the concrete pad project.
Maybe we can get a canopy over the playground also. We'll work on that as well.
Just do it all together. We should do it all together. You're right. um we will definitely look into that taxiway charlie phase one uh we're looking at a possible design amendment um to incorporate some new findings that came about with our stormwater master plan could result in significant um savings on maybe half a million or more in dollars so we're looking at that we had a great phone conversation with the southwest water management district and they were agreeable to the idea that we floated with them. So we'll continue to pursue that. On the tower lighting controls, that is... We just got the grant funding on that, so we'll kick the design off on that here shortly. And then fuel and ops. Operations, not so good in August. It was one of the lower months we've had in the past couple years. Just talking to the flight school and the FBO, it was a lot of bad weather. Fog in the morning, thunderstorms in the afternoon. And then on the fuel side, I don't have the fuel numbers just yet, but not great, not good. I'm sure it reflects. But they kind of mirrored the operations on the day, on the month. That concludes my presentation.
Thank you. Thank you, Matt. Do we have any persons wishing to appear? Any comments from the individual board member? I would like to personally welcome Camp to the Airport Advisory Board. I think that Tuesday night when the City Council looked at the three candidates, they said, well, the only one that has a fighting chance to do 50 years like Terry did is Camp. So, no, I don't believe that's the only reason. But welcome, welcome, Camp. Thank you. With that, I would take a motion to adjourn.
So moved. Second.
All in favor? Aye.
Hi. Hi. Thank you. Good job.
