Now this we must do and and uh I think it we should tie it into the Poppy campaign and have those come out. So what time and date do we plan to do Memorial Day? We're going to do it on Memorial Day or when Memorial Day should always be celebrated on the 25th.

One day, one day. Actually, the in the past the agenda is wrong. You're having the speakers come up and read the uh the honor or whatever. That's what we're doing. Yeah. It was It was It was It was accepted nicely. Was I It was a nice way to do it. Yeah, I think so. for those who gave their life and won the Medal of Honor. I think that's just that's very powerless. Um we have another date update. Um Memorial Day is not the 26th. Yeah, it is wrong the agenda. No, it's my fault. I already just said I'm the one who does the agenda and I pull up can't see anymore. Are we gonna have Are we then we're gonna go through the whole agenda? We're gonna go through the whole sequence of events right now. So, um, we have the welcoming comments, you know, I'll be making those. Then we have the national anthem. Uh, we have a singer who we can line up for the national anthem. And the thing is, we can also use our Arbor Day funds to help pay for this because actually we don't have a Memorial Day fund line, would you? Can we can we like have a motion to rename the line to events for the No, you should have a Memorial Day line item. There just might not be funds in there right now. Because you did it last year, but it just

do it every year. Can we Can we move it? You would have to do a motion to reallocate funds to the Yeah. Okay, let's do that. Dude, what I was going to suggest was, you know, since we want you want to tie in, you know, the poppy with Memorial Day, which is a great idea, why not get a large rendering, a big one that that's, you know, put up on an easel or something, but not, you know, not not a projection, but an actual poster like this of the uh of the of the actual uh So, aren't we didn't we pay them to make posters or are those the posters? These are the poster. I'm talking about I'm talking about the rendering. I'm talking about rendering of the of the monument itself. Why don't we make a molette? Let's make a model of it. Well, well, a model would be great, but very expensive. But if you have a large rendering guy, they they do those over at um at FedEx. Probably talking about spending, you know,

$150. They make a big one, they put it on the back of this. And then and then the other thing we can do kind of set the stage would be to take out the Battlefield Cross that's over at the uh the uh Mary Quarters Colin Center. take that out and put that in front of the rendering in the front. I mean, it would really set the stage nicely. Yes. And and then and then we could have a person that um maybe Lillian from the American Legion or a person that's very knowledgeable to the American Legion get up and and do the do the talk about your

Okay. So, let me uh drill down on that. Okay. So, we're talking about like having um you know how they have those like you have for headquarters that banner thing that with two poles, you know? Yes. But instead, it'll be the rendering of of the uh monument. I think what he's saying is a nice card. Well, that would be good about an easel. What Bill just said, too. That's a great idea, too. I mean, I'm just throwing it out there. Well, I mean, but the other thing is with what you're talking about, I like to put someplace at the site that we're actually going to put the monument like a permanent installation of something. No, absolutely. No, you can have there's no there's nothing against eating. I mean, normally what happens is the ceremony ends pretty quickly and people leave, but we have to have who there earlier. Uh we have some singers we usually reach out to and they usually are around $100. Yeah. About a hundred bucks around there usually. Yeah. So, okay. Now, what do we do? What do we do to get the word out that we're having this event? I mean, we created a flyer. She did on social media, the website. What we What happened? Let me explain. The the year before this,

okay, we had seem to have much bigger turn. And the reason for that was because we had one of the reasons was we had announced the uh the the readers that were going to read and those guys actually were there the five of them or whatever. Of course they told their friends and family and they were there to read. So right away you had a good nucleus of people coming in right there. That combined with the social media and the other stuff gave us you know 150 people showed up. Last year we probably had half of that. But I think one of the reasons for that was we didn't we didn't do it the same way. Mhm.

And uh what I'm saying is if we if we go ahead and assign the the reading out ahead of time and start working now on the social media and maybe we could work on a bigger turnout and and then the the benefit of that will be of course you know not not only the um well this would be the main we'll get the popping people donations. I mean if you want anything include on the flyer like speakers or like pop like you can give us those details and we can add them. Um, are you looking at the Mary Collins Community Center like last year or well a different location?

Yeah, that's the thing. I mean, we wanted to do I mean, we can do the unveiling. Um, one of the things is it's usually really really hot. Um, and we have a lot of folks who are elderly. Um, I think we should want to do it in the Mary Collins. Oh, like you know it'll be nicer for folks and uh and we can we can unveil the future site of and tell them it's where it's going to be, you know. Um and you know people want to walk as we plant that sign there, we can do that, you know. Um Okay.

But the veterans uh the American Legion and all that stuff. I had their I had a meeting with them and we talked about all that. The report to council, did you say the amount though? I don't recall if you did. I didn't say the amount, but I said, you know, it's going to be less than it was last year, which it is.

Okay. And they and they approved that. Okay. Um then the main one is just one you guys talked about today then the transfer I mean yeah yeah moving it to the Memorial Day budget and I guess if we do a motion for the rendering right how much were what exactly is the rendering the ones that you already had. No, this is a this is a one to have like to put where we're going to put the monument and it's gonna be like future site of it's just one rendering like a big sign big sign be weatherp proof has be something like the contractors doing the building they put a big sign up future site of McDonald that we would also need to go with parks to make sure that I don't know if you talked to Jeremy about this already

well no Jeremy and I already picked a site okay so that's already good to go good good to go I mean I'll talk to Jeremy I'll ask him about hey putting that sign there. Yeah. Um but let me ask him that and I have no idea what those costs. Yeah either. I was going to say maybe just hold off on this for the next meeting but then you have a short window. Yes. Yeah. I mean when's the next council meeting? The next council meeting is on April 21st. 21st till May. Right. Why don't we approve to putting deposit in one and then we can approve the final one. I was going to suggest we only have $1,900. Yeah.

So up to $1,900, right? And then you have to go in front of the town anyways and then it'll park and then be done, right? And then if the town improves that's fine and then if parks approve it's fine. You don't have to come back and wait for the next meeting. Yeah. It's done here. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Um, I'm going to ask for the commander of the American Legion to put this on the agenda for next American Legion meeting so we can get volunteers to be readers and that way we know who they are both and then they can promote tell their families to show up to the events.

All right. and I will draft up the uh I'll pull down the citation for maybe we can also postcards are the same guy sign some special duties to people in the American region to uh maybe someone to to greet at the door to help see people we can we can get the volunteers ahead of time so that'll even bring more people in as a nuclearist to get things started. I was really impressed with the Christmas parade this year.

It was amazing. And if we could get golfers to participate in the Veterans Day parade like they did in the Christmas parade, that would be awesome. I mean the whole town was out for that. I Well, we did have golf carts. Not like Christmas. Problem was we had children driving those golf carts. Yes. That's when was remember a lot of issues. And then we had people smoking plenty cigarettes driving the golf carts that they drove by. So, I know. I know. So, it's sort of like if they're going to participate, we got to figure out some way to get them the rule of no children driving.

Oh gosh. And uh and the thing is that's it's the smells so strong and pungent. Yeah. Because the lady who volunteered said, "Oh, I'll get the golf cart." And then meeting when the meeting time came. Oh, and then the other problem was the golf cart people were like throwing coinities as hard as possible at people's faces, too. That's so we had a few issues with the golf cart people. I don't know if that's resolvable, but we can always re visit that when we get close to it. So, it's going to be 118. 118. Any other issues or concerns?

Oh, sorry. Um, if anybody has an event, also Mr. Guzman, the band director for Highly Gardens, has a tremendous jazz band. It's so good. They're so talented. They did a family night for the middle school. Robert Alonzo's, you know, family night that he threw and they're just fantastic. How much do they charge? It's like we do with the reindeer. You just you and yourself, oh, I'll give you this much money. They'll say, "Wow, thank you." It's like a big band. It's probably 10 12 pieces and this wonderful girl that can sing it in Spanish and English and jazz. I kind of casino night. I'm thinking that would be really cool.

They're really good. Impressively good. Ask tell them please tell them to uh you know block off May 1st 127th but on the date as well. Okay. I was just bragging about a jazz band and I think they need you to play on May 1st, 2027 uh ceremony in just it's great seeing everybody. Um I feel like I haven't seen you for a little while. We're skipping Arbor Day. We're using money to fund a Memorial Day. We're not doing Arbor Day. No. No. That's why I was asking. Yeah. Arbor Day. And we did establish Memorial Day is on Memorial Day.

Right. Okay. So, I just wanted to bring it to your attention that I sent an email about a special call meeting that is happening on June 4th at 6:30. So, it's a special call meeting on proposed town committee budgets. So every committee needs to um present their proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026 2027 to town council including dates for each proposed event, estimated attendance at each event from the prior year, cost of each event for the resident/public and the number of sponsorship dollars collected for each event from the prior year. Town council then approves each event and the committee budget funds for the next fiscal year. So this will be on June 4th. Um yeah, that is the date of your June meeting. So that will also reschedu so you guys can

what what they want more time on. It's in the email. It's in the email. It's in the email. Yeah, you're great. Okay. Um it's in the email. Um so we'll have to reschedule the meeting, but that could be next meeting. I just wanted you to be aware so you can add it to the agenda bill.
