Vice Mayor Masher here and Mayor McGee here. The invocation of pledge will be led by council. You need to do the flat thing back there. I'll do that after. Yeah. Okay.

0:14 – 2:140

Oh God, creator and lord of our city as well as of our individual lives. We humbly acknowledge your intent interest and your presence at this council meeting tonight. Before we begin our business, we deliberately open our minds and spirits to your holy will. Help us to be worthy of the trust citizens of Alliance have placed us. Guide us in each decision we make that it might be as fair and just as it is economically sound to be that our community may achieve its highest potential and become all we want it to be. Amen. To the flag of the United States of America and to the stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all reference, a copy of the open meetings posted on the northeast corner of this room and the audience area. This motion complies with the requirements of the fractal legislation. The only item one on the agenda tonight is to fill a vacancy left by the resignation of Councilman Lifac. Um this uh the person nominated today, if if they're elected, will serve until May of uh 2026 uh to the next primary election. I will point out that the statute seems to read that they would fill out the unexpired term of the uh the council person who left. But when uh this once before we contacted the Secretary of State to get a explanation and a ruling and they explained that uh we we go till the next scheduled election which is the primary. So we are abiding by what the Secretary of State informed us that we should do. Um so we received three applications. I

2:11 – 2:510

received three applications for the open position. Uh those came from Randy Hitchcock, from Mr. and from Scott Gates. At this time, I'd like to nominate Scott Yates for the vacancy. Second. Have a motion, a second. Is there any discussion? For the call. Councilman Weisser. Am I voting on the recommendation? No. Vice Mayor Masher? Yes. Councilman Turman? Yes. And Mayor McGee.

2:48 – 3:380

Yes. There being a majority of the votes in favor of the nomination, I determined that Mr. Gates has been elected to fill the vacancy. I think if you come forward now at this time, we will administer the office. We'll get you right. Okay. I state your name. Do you swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Nebraska against all enemies, foreign and domesticated.

3:35 – 4:090

6:02 – 7:100

Uh certainly um there's Scott Gates. I've been here I've been here in Alliance for a few years living. Uh but we've been coming up here for 10 or 11 years. You've got some really close family friends. Um my wife and I were actually here in alliance. So, it's a place that um we've always intended to to make our home, to sink our roots, to to kind of finish up things. Um my background is I was born and raised in California, San Diego, served in the United States Marine Corps for a good many years. Also spent some time in the US government um in various agencies in Washington DC and now I'm just a regular civilian guy. My specialty I'm not from city government um is I'm a technical leader and a large insurance firm here in the United States. So that's my background and I really would like to take a chance to thank everybody for this opportunity to serve this body and people of all we'll be ajourned. We'll reconvene at 6:15 for the budget hearing.
