Join us in opening ceremonies. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Join me for a moment of prayer. Amen. Okay. Agenda item number three is approval of tonight's agenda. Just one item on there. So move for the approval. Second. All those in favor by saying yes. Motion carries. Item four, public works director position. Yeah. Thank you.
I'll let you handle that, Matt.
Appreciate that. Well, after uh several weeks of of the interview process and involving council and uh uh leadership and public works staff, recommend hiring uh Jason Buddton as a public works director. Uh Jason currently is the director of engineering design and support at Wells Blue Bunny, Wells Enterprises. He's spent roughly 18 to 20 years there. And um he has a lot of similar skills and experiences that will fit in well from technical um technical aspect of his role as well as leading people and being visionary within the company. solely feel very confident that he will be a a good public works director for us and um with that he uh would plan to start uh roughly the 20th of January. So we're excited about that and get him up to speed. Um along with that I recommend that the council authorize his current residency position um uh to be allowed uh which there is uh language in our residency policy that allows an exception to be current. Um policy states that city administrator, community development director, and public works director live within Orange City limits. Uh with Jason and his recent building of a home um in Alton, which just uh very close in proximity to the owner city, we recommend that that is um we offer that special exception at this time. So um and uh any future move would be in Orange City um just with his recency of what his situation recommend that. So recommend that as part of the decision
questions comments. Thanks for leading that process to the multiple applicants who you know applied and went through the interview process. We had a lot of good candidates and yeah, happy to be at this point. Yeah, thank you for all your support and willingness to be part of it as well and and our staff and um input there as a good team effort. So, yeah, excited to be sometimes it just got to work through a few little things and that's good. But I'm glad that you're comfortable and with the, you know, with this election and everybody else and
want to make sure the leadership team is working well. So that's right. So So I'll make the motion that we hire and we wave the residency. All those in favor signify by saying yes. Yes. Yes. Motion carries. And we need a motion to adjurnn. You two better do it one more time. I'll make that motion. All those in favor signify by saying I. I. I. I. And happy.
