We have for I love his name naming the party pitch whereas Ted being the founding member Burton, president of Clayton RFC, established 2013 to get the club to where it is today. And whereas with teams preferring to play down in the lowest division possible and always fighting to stay there, Ted saw an opportunity within the structure to form a development reason for a team struggling with members and travel and also build a second team to be able to play meaningful roles without being on the end of a lopsided games. The teams and players it helped develop and to loyal rugby. Without it and Ted's dedication to the sport, many teams would have folded. And whereas Ted is
directly responsible for the existence of Johnston County Park. And whereas Hardy family sacrificed time, energy, and money for the betterment of others and the community, both Wilson's Mills and the Rugby Rugby community as a whole. Now therefore be it proclaim the championship bill at the Johnston County Roby Park located at the Phil Right Community Park will be named Hardy Pitch proclaim this 11th day of August 2025 to say that I have been out and watch horror game so it is amazing to watch the fellowship and the just the overall sport that y'all show to each other and it's just amazing and I am so proud to say that y'all are part of this and if you ever need anything from town from the town let us know we will be glad Yes, it won't.

Thank you. Well, councilman, I appreciate really appreciate it. I was a little scared because I thought it was just going to be me and Peter coming up tonight and I could talk about stuff and I saw all these people and I got really nervous. You thought you had done something wrong. I was really worried about uh you know. Hey. Yeah. Um the park's a special place for us, special place for our community and we love being a part of it. Um you guys have been incredibly gracious to us and look forward to doing more and building more and bringing more people out there. From what I understand, you have some of your members that are on our events committee or Yes. Yes, sir.
That's that's wonderful, too. I like I like the cooperation and I got to tell you, it has been a long long struggle. I remember when you first approached us now what you've got. And in the meantime, I've seen you guys selling hot dogs in front of the gun store. So, you guys have worked hard. Really have. It It's been a battle. You know, who could have predicted? You know, like we got rolling and we're got off to a really strong start and then pandemic shut everything down for two years and you know, we didn't know what was going to happen after that. And you know, we got a lot of great members that have
supported us along the way and continued to fight and you know, they believe they believe in community, they believe in family and that's what kept us going and you know we got some momentum out there now so we're just going to keep on trucking. I look forward to the uh the tournaments, the visiting team. So, yep. And all I mean you guys deserve everything. So, congratulations. Each one. The next time you go to Ireland, I teach you'll be going together. Absolutely. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate it. and when it first started out, you know, something we watched on TV and and we thought about how rough of a sport it is compared to with football, especially math. Um but those those guys talked about how how much they enjoyed it. And I really think in my mind and in my heart that that that program kept them on their to be productive adult sickness. Yeah. And I have to say for that for those kids and the kids you have now and in the future. Thank you. Yes, sir. Thank you. It's a pleasure addition.
And that's all that I have. Um I just have a couple of updates um on the lighting request at the intersections of I42 and specifically Sweden Creek Road but also Wilson Sils Road. Um the representatives in Duke Energy have assigned that task to their contractor who does the designs for the lighting at different intersections on DOT roads and I'm just waiting to hear back from them. I got that information Thursday afternoon and I haven't heard from them yet, but he said that they would be reaching out to me to start the design for that so that they can let us know how much that would be for for the town that for our portion of it. Um the second thing I have is I'd like to introduce Jennifer Martin who's sitting here with me tonight. She is our new HR director and she started officially last Monday though she came back after a whole week and um she's already jumped on the ball with with meeting and talking with all the employees and starting to look at job descriptions to work on the salary grade and stuff like that. So, she's she's already working on lots of projects. I do want to introduce you all to her.
