City Council - Regular Meeting

Everybody, this is Late Night Live, the DCN smoke. Uh coming to you very briefly. Uh tomorrow the Rocky Mount City Council will be having a special call meeting, well uh public hearing uh for uh the public to voice their opinion on the um rate increase for utilities. Now, if you've been paying attention, you would know that they got to do increases and cuts. The city manager has done uh presentation um about what he um um uh presented to the council. They can vote it up or they can vote it down. But on tomorrow the public hearing will be on the rate increase and they have no option because the presentation was made by utilities uh department head and it's posted on Facebook for those uh YouTube that um did not attend the meet and for those who were there obviously they're not paying attention or just don't care. Nobody wants to raise prices on anything, be it be food, gas, uh uh uh utilities, whatever. But there comes a time when one must do what they have to do. Um, so on tomorrow,

um, there will be a public hearing and you have folk that been out here misleading folk, LGC gave the uh, the council director and the staff uh, the city manager have done his part. Um, so, um, the city council would have to either vote it up or vote it down. I'm so sick of folk using scare tactics, uh, talking about uh, people on fixed income. Hell, everybody on fixed income. I know I am. I don't have it. I don't pay myself. So, uh, um, mine's fixed, too. I don't know about y'all. Maybe y'all pay y'all. But stop trying to use elderly people. Uh the elderly people pay their bills. It's the young folk. Try that. Fact check that. Majority of the time the older people pay their bills, it's the young folk um the city is in a crisis and they got to do what they got to do. LGC uh uh stated that they don't tell at this point that they don't tell the council what to do. I mean the city council whatever. Um

they have qualified folk. Uh she said she feels strongly that they will get through this. But in case they don't, the LGC will take over and do make the cuts, do the increases, it'll be done either way. Now, you got some that want it done the way they want it done when the city manager have said that he's going to do it all. But because um um he hasn't he didn't present what they wanted the two. They going on and on campaigning, protesting when the city manager had made it clear that he works for the council. And the thing is with all this noise, those who uh got their own agenda, all you got to do is make a motion. See, you at the table. Make a motion and see how that go. while you running your mouth and trying to speak for for LGC and uh you got all the answers. The answer is put a motion on the floor and see where it go. That's right. Um it's just sad. So come out on tomorrow and if you don't uh make it look at the video, look at the live stream. But I want to close with this because uh I hear I my name is

all over Facebook on uh especially rocking my mouth considered citizens uh uh racist page. um where you got safe negroes and uh specialties uh um calling my name and on some uh uh safe negro personal pages. Well, I don't have a vote. Why y'all so focused on me? Why y'all uh are so focused on me going to the mean speaking when um I can do that? Pray the counsel. Why are you focusing on me? Y'all don't want to hear them choose. I I don't get it. But while y'all focusing on me, I trust and believe the council going to do what they need to do. So, I can't wait. And I wonder is who is this uh uh trying to respond do a comment. But anyway, y'all got to just um y'all need to stop focusing on me because um I'm going to do what I was put here to do and that is to be a voice for the voiceless. Uh speak up for family. I have a Rocky Mountain friends. I've been working over here for 39 years. I spend all my money over here. Buy all my gas, buy all my food, uh uh that I cook on the grill, uh food that I eat, um um when I'm working. So, hey, I spend probably more money over here

than some of you do when it comes to uh um gas and food and and that kind of stuff. Okay. What was the other phone? But anyway, um um we shall see on tomorrow the public hearing and then on Wednesday uh they go before the LGC. Um, I just can't get over folk uh worrying about the wrong thing and not understanding that the city is in a crisis and you choose uh poop over uh making sure the city continue to be operational. and uh uh not understanding that the city manager and staff does the day-to-day operation, not the city council. So, let the city manager do his job. And if he should fail, well, I don't think he could fail either way. But, uh if uh it don't work out, then hey, just don't work out. The city is in a crisis. Uh um two years spelled out in the audit what went wrong. So all the other negativity and poop that y'all keep bringing up is just distractions and deflection. So, uh, I look forward to the Rocky

Mount City Council doing what they need to do to keep the city of Rocky Mount alive and make it great again because I have seen the greatness uh uh within the last 20 to 22 years. Uh um although you got some folk out there that been trying to discredit Andre Knight and Ruben Blackwell and it has backfired. So time to move forward. Y'all have a good night.
