Board of Commissioners - Regular Meeting

Welcome to our budget public hearing. Thank you for being with us this evening. I'll call our meeting to order. Let's have roll call. Thank you, and if you would, stand with me, and Commissioner Perkins is going to handle our invocation.

Thank you, dear Lord, for last night's meeting. Thank you for the people who are here. Thank you for this boy that we may do what is fitting for your people. Bless us individually and as a family. All these things I pray in your name. Amen.

Thank you. Commissioner Weaver is going to lead us in the pledge. Pledge of Allegiance. Thank you. I hear a motion to approve the agenda. Second. Got a motion and a second. Please vote. And I will turn it over to Madam Manager.

Yes, thank you, Mr. Chairman, members of the board. I'm pleased to you to briefly represent to you your 26-27 proposed budget. And you'll see up on the screen just a very few slides. In front of you, behind your agenda, at each place setting, you have a copy of the budget message and the proposed budget ordinance. In addition, you have a sheet that you have seen before from the end of your budget workshops that sets forth the changes that this board has directed from that first presentation on May 4th until today. And in summary, we have reverted back the funding for the arts as directed by the boards, reducing Pitt County Arts Council down to $50,000 that they received the prior year, and reinstated for Farmville Arts, Aiden Arts, and Greenville Museum of Art. We've reduced Commissioner Travel back down to its existing amount of $40,000, and then we've added funding for schools for supplemental nurses at $334,500, and for student device replacement at $2 million. That creates the budget that is set forth in line detail in the budget ordinance in front of you. And there were no further changes made to the budget per directions. With that, Mr. Chairman, we would ask that you open the public hearing for comments. And you have no one signed up to speak.

OK, I will open up the public hearing. And I will also, I know nobody signed up, but I'll give anybody an opportunity that would like to speak in favor or against this budget. Anybody want that opportunity? OK, since we have no one signed up, I'll close the public hearing. And we'll move on to directives or actions for Madam Manager and her staff. I'd rather jump at one time. Okay.

Madam Manager, would it be appropriate for a motion to accept the budget ordinance as presented?
