City Council - Regular Meeting

I'm going to go ahead and get started this evening with our work session. I appreciate all of you being here this afternoon. I'm with Jinda Adams for this afternoon, Old Business. We have three items on the old business approved change orders for the first complex project not to exceed $180,000. Second time it's been on the agenda so we can take care of that tonight. Also item two approved change order for the parking lot bathroom project and it cost up $8,406. Also the second time on the agenda. And item three approved implementation of the time clock plus timekeeping system. a new system that they're putting in to do a better job of keeping up with people's time. So that's also the second time on the agenda. Under new business this evening, we'll have a public hearing for a 020 restaurant retail liquor on premise only for Bridge Street Kitchen and Pasta LLC located at 101 East Bridge Street with Tomka. And then after the public hearing, we can take action on that item. Item 6, 2026-8-3-1 resolution to approve a one-time lump sum payment to retired members and beneficiaries of deceased retirees who retired prior to October 1 of 2025 at an estimated cost of $11,731. This is the first time we'll carry this over to the next agenda, the next meeting. Item seven, approved professional services agreement with GMC for floodplain engineering and aerial survey services for Rivertown Center. First time on the agenda, but that is on the Westside project. Is that right, Ashley? Yes. Westside project? No, Rivertown. Rivertown? Yes, sir. Okay. All right. And then item eight, permission to partner with Main Street 15 of them, and the bowls, 30 of them, for the new public parking area with grant funding at a cost of $20,550.60. And it's my understanding that Main Street is paying for this. We're just going to pay for it up front, and then we'll be reimbursed by Main Street. Is that correct? That's correct.

With the exception of $550.26, because for a grant it's for $20,000. No kidding?

I know this doesn't have anything to do with it, but we were adding to the Christmas decorations every year. You know, we had done a plan where each year, are we done with that or are we still in the process? We are done with that. Okay, just checking in.

So we're not doing the Christmas tree anymore?

We are, well, that's different. I wouldn't call it that. We are continuing to grow the Christmas tree, and that will be coming in the new budget.

Right. We added the Christmas ornaments, and we were doing things like that every year.

You can go down there if you look close. We grow this thing four feet each year, but you have to look close to follow that and see the growth, but it's there. We have a plan. Okay. Item nine, let's see, on item eight, we're gonna need to suspend the rules on that and move forward for the city to go ahead and pay for this. Okay, we can do this. Item nine, permission for the River Region United Way to host their annual campaign kickoff at the Farmer's Market on September the 3rd of 2026. And then item 10, permission for Main Street Wetumpka to host The Front Poet Fall Festival in downtown Wichita on September the 26th of 2026. If someone will disregard that note that somebody put on that thermostat right there. Okay, those are the agenda items for this evening and we'll continue now and call our council meeting to order.
