Good evening. We are uh calling to order the disability advisory committee meeting. Today is Monday, August 11th. It is 5:46 p.m. like to welcome everybody. Um, student attendance. Uh, my name is Amy Benvdas. I'm the president. Liz Hardy, secretary. Ashley Tones, vice president.

0:50 – 1:480

Kristen McIki, member. All right. Uh, this meeting is being live streamed by Under Production Multimedia. Um, let's do the U pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right, we need to do an approval of agenda. We've got some changes. uh that have been made. We usually don't have to approve that, but uh if I could get a motion to approve on our agenda for the evening. Motion to approve.

1:46 – 2:300

All right, second. All right, it is approved. Uh this meeting should be very short and sweet. Uh just a couple things to go over. Um, our standing business, uh, we had a meeting on May the 2nd, 2025, and we need to approve those minutes. Did anybody have any questions or adjustments to those minutes? All right. If I could get a motion for the approval of the prior meeting minutes to approve. All right. I wasn't at that meeting. So,

2:27 – 2:570

okay, that's a second. Okay. All right. Moving on. Oh, business. Uh, we would have normally talked about what happened with Founders Day activities, but the part that we were going to be on was cancelled due to the crazy weather we were having. So, um I don't know if there's really anything to uh talk about there.

2:56 – 3:320

I would like to give a shout out to Ashley because when I got there, she already had the tent up and like she was set and she was ready to go. And so that was um you know, I just feel like she worked hard to get everything ready. I just want to give her a thumbs up and appreciation for having everything. Absolutely. Actually, maybe we could carry that over to community days. Community days, but try to do something again.

3:27 – 3:430

We'll see how we can uh work that. There you go. Um I don't think there was any other updates to old business. Um I didn't have anything.

3:40 – 5:140

Yeah, I didn't hear any feedback from anyone on community days as far as accessibility things. or anything. Yeah, they had it pretty good set up over there at the little league. Okay. Well, our new business, uh, the upcoming events for September is the community days and it is going to be on Saturday, September the 20th. Um, I don't have a lot of the details for that at this point. Um hopefully we can have another meeting between now and then and we'll have some more information. Um, as always when the activities are on the square, there is parking at the old agent on a block um parking lot and then there is parking always made available um at the top of Greenway Park and also they usually mark some spots down there um at the basketball goal uh parking as well. Um, so, um, accessibility wise, I know they've got the bathrooms and things done. We talked about that a little bit down there at Greenway Park. So, um, the bathrooms are nice and accessible for anyone with um, needing a a changing station for uh, children or adults. Um, has anybody been there? Have you been in that? I haven't been there. I haven't seen it.

5:12 – 5:330

I didn't post the photos. I seen the photos, but I had I hadn't been down there yet either. I need to get down there and check that out. Are they still doing that parking at the Amy building usually? Yeah. Yeah. I keep forgetting about Yeah, it's I just happen to think of it and didn't

5:31 – 6:270

Yeah, I'm so used to there being events going on at A& during community days. Um and I don't know that information. So I But yeah, there's always parking there as well. on um you know and all the now that the construction is all done over here on the other side of the square. I'm sure they're you know now you can park where the light springs is and all that I don't think they block any of that off. Um you know I imagine the square will be blocked off like it usually is but yeah there's there should be a lot more parking this year with all the construction but done for everybody, not just not just handicap parking, but for everybody. People should be able to get get up here. Um and then um the golf cart

6:24 – 7:520

uh thing obviously the ordinance. I don't know what's proper if you haven't got your sticker, you can get it from the Charlestown Police Department. It's $25 uh so that you can drive your golf cart around town. Um, so I'm anxious to see if there's a few golf carts up here. I've been seeing them at the other events. Um, other than that, I'm not sure um what's coming up yet uh in the future past community days. I mean, I know there's the normal events, but I'm not sure of the date yet. But hopefully we can get another meeting in by community days and um see what what we can volunteer for uh to help out. Um does anybody have any um dates or times that they cannot attend for the meeting? Um if we did, let me look and see how the holidays fallen. Liberty September 1st. The 1st. Okay. And that would be the first one. So that would have been normally. So if everything would go well, the other meeting should be on September the 8th. Would that work for everybody? This September 8th at five o'clock or

7:49 – 8:260

should be think so. Okay. All right. So, we will plan for that at this point and I will um get that on the calendar and that would give us plenty of time to um decide if we what we can do to help out with community days and um and then discuss what what we have coming up for October, what we can do for October. um at 5:30 5:45

8:24 – 9:270

5 o'clock today was at 5:45 because there was going to be I think they got cancelled tonight because of um there wasn't enough uh on the agenda but there were going to be meetings tonight at 6:30 and 7:30. So we were just trying to make it as close to the time so that um under production wouldn't have to be here for an extra hour ahead of time. Sure. Does anybody have any additional items that they would like to discuss? Anything going on with and around town? Welcome back to school everybody. That's the only excitement I guess this summer. All right. So if we do not have anything we will call for an adjournment second.

9:240

All right. Meeting adjourned 553.
