Mayor, let's call the meeting to order and call roll.

0:02 – 0:17Glenn Singer

Yep. Meeting officially called to order. Playground Equipment Installation Workshop called for 11 a.m. And we're pretty close, 11.05. Meeting officially called to order.

0:18Speaker 21

Roll call, please. Mayor Singer. Here. Vice Mayor Mandel. Here. Council Member Laskin. Here. Council Member Bernstein.

0:26Speaker 21

Council Member Einstein. Here.

0:28Speaker 9

Okay. Madam Clerk, just for, because in case there's a big protest, reflect in the minutes that the only two staff members present will be the town manager and town clerk.

0:38 – 1:33Glenn Singer

Okay, quick little notes. Today we have eight presentations. The presenters will have 10 minutes each, okay? As I just mentioned to the council, what I would do is next to each name, so you remember, because there's a lot to remember, I would rate them, and my scale is three different things. One is aesthetics, two is usability, whether it's usable for kids of different ages, Three is cost. So, you know, just so you remember. So when we go through the discussion items, you can remember that. So what we're going to do is we give them 10 minutes to present. And I'm going to limit questions to literally five to 10 minutes max. OK. And then we're moving to the next presenter. So if we have our first presenter, if you can introduce yourself and please speak clearly into the mic so everyone can hear you.

1:34 – 2:34Speaker 9

Mayor, before he presents, let me just for the record. So Alexia's town manager, just to remind the council, this bid went out and we had eight respondents. After an initial review of the eight respondents, the town administration decided to reject all original presenters and proposals and give each of the respondents an opportunity to readdress the concerns for the town. And they were given this current task, provide optimal shade coverage, Optimal playground selection, ground cover as necessary, and all site furnishing. We're not going to ask any of the companies to provide any history about their companies or where they've had success. They're focused on strictly the design and meeting the expectations of those four requirements and the wow factor. And then we limited their budget to $700,000. So all eight presenters today had that task. $700,000, maximize shade, ground cover, give us a wow factor, and as many playground equipments. So that applies to all eight presenters today.

2:34Speaker 8

So the mayor was suggesting that costs might be different on all these.

2:37Glenn Singer

Well, they're going to come in different costs.

2:39Speaker 8

They're all about $4,000 apart.

2:42Glenn Singer

Let's see what happens.

2:43Speaker 8

Okay. And are we working off of this material supplied or are we just... They're going to present. So don't even look at the stuff previously. You can reference it. Okay.

3:09Speaker 3

There you go.

3:11Speaker 7

OK. Good morning.

3:13 – 3:25Speaker 18

My name is Oscar Lopez, and I represent Compan. I've had the pleasure of working with Compan now for 11 years, and I'm here to present the Golden Beach design.

3:30Glenn Singer

Let's set the time clock.

3:32Speaker 18

Yeah. 10 minutes is going to be rough, but I'll try to be quick.

3:47 – 13:58Speaker 18

Okay. So I'll try to go through these pages because like I said, 10 minutes is kind of quick and I can catch myself talking a little bit too much sometimes. Right off the bat, the concept, the idea that we had for this project was to align itself actually with this building. So we drew very modern, clean lines in our structures, as well as the colors are very intentional. You'll see a lot of the whites, yellows, and golds from this building that we captured, as well as the blues, the light blues, just to kind of keep everything clean, modern, and aligned with the vision. We broke the areas into two areas separating the two to five and five to 12 playgrounds. On the bottom left, that'll be our two to five section. On the top right, that'll be our five to 12 section. Next page. We can keep past that. And I'll come back to that shade and surfacing at the end. Yeah, keep going. Okay, so right off the bat, we'll start off with the five to 12 playground area. The intention with the five to 12 playground area was to have a nice clean lines of transparency for the parents to be able to see their kids and be a little bit more off hands. We've incorporated our wow factor on this would be the height of the equipment. So you can see the frame net. The frame net there, the yellow frame net with the black membranes has about 21 to 22 feet of total height. And then the other structure, the blue structure with the multiple slides is about 15 to 16 feet. What we're trying to do here is incorporate a little bit of traditional play with your platform and slides on the blue structure and then more physical challenging play on the frame net, on the yellow frame net. The idea behind this is a lot of times when you go to playgrounds, you'll see a lot of prescribed play. Prescribed play being you have steps, a deck, and one route. That's great for a little bit of time, but that doesn't really hold the children there you don't get that staying power. What happens when you don't have that staying power is now all of a sudden the children aren't using the playground and they're doing everything that they're not supposed to be doing in the park. So we want to have kind of different levels and unprescribed play and different levels and abilities within the playground equipment. So our equipment is meant not only to the prescribed in terms of the steps, the deck, and the slide, but we want them playing under the equipment, over the equipment, around the equipment, We want them to take the steps if that's the easy route to a slide, but we want them also to have that physical challenge in terms of climbing. With the yellow structure, you don't just have the climbing, you have a lot of different levels. So you'll get social gathering. The play experience within the rope structures changes because it's completely different when one or two kids are on a net structure, or when you have 15 or 20 kids on the net structure, the way it feels, the way it moves, the way they have to manipulate the routes and so on. So all of that was kept in mind when we were putting this together. We wanted to have high capacity, high transparency for the parents, and we wanted to make sure that we had different types of play. Go to the next one, please. Now, here you'll get more of a side view so you can kind of... Understand the height of the equipment and if and I know one of the things that we're gonna talk about towards the end is a shade With the budget and the large spaces that you had I had to make sacrifices on shade and I decided to do that on the 5 to 12 area The reason I did that is because you do have a pavilion in that 5 to 12 area and you do have I believe it's a two-story house on the side of it that provides a little bit of natural shading on top of that you have the pieces of equipment which have good height so 21 feet and and 16 feet, so it's a little bit harder to cover that. Now, the blue structure, that is a regular kind of roof on the structure. We do have the option to include integrated shade if that's something that the city really wants to, the route that they want to go. Within the 5 to 12 playground, we have a lot of complimentary pieces where you just don't have your traditional slides and climbing, but we also wanted to incorporate spinning, Rocking gathering social play and all included with that physical play as well. The other thing you'll notice it. Can you go to the next slide? one more Again, sorry When I get to the swings also One of the key points in playgrounds is the swings a lot of times you'll see a lot of traffic in the swings so what we did was we added four bays here we have your four natural seats and And then towards the far right, you'll see the shell or the basket. This is great in terms of inclusive play. Any children with disabilities can lay on that. Also the baskets themselves tend to be high traffic areas where you'll all of a sudden see five or six kids on the same shell and basket. So now you have a little bit more socialization within the playground as well. So plenty of seats here, plenty of space in terms of just having the children in the flow and not everybody kind of waiting for the swings. Then we have our two to five, our two to five area. You'll notice again, the colors that we drew off the white and the gold and the yellows from this building. I wanted to make sure on the two to five, it also very intentional that it wasn't just a bunch of decks. So within the two to five, you'll have some of that traditional play. You'll have the slides, you'll have climbing. But if you notice intentionally, we use the net bridge in the middle. because it's not just a ramp. There's actually for the younger children. Now they're also getting that physical challenge of climbing. You'll see that there's pieces on the outside if you can go to the next view. There's also like little rock climbing walls at a lower level. And there's regular entrance points towards the back where they can do the steps or decks if that's the level of play there. We also incorporate the xylophone musical instruments at the bottom because we want to have a lot of, At this age group, you want to have a lot of manipulatives. You want to have ground level play for them so that there's a wide range from the two-year-old that's playing on a structure to the five-year-old. I also, I know one of the design things of this whole project was the dog park. So there's a little bit of a nod, a little wink there to the dog park. that should be facing towards the other direction, just to kind of tie in the whole design, not just with the playground, but with everything that's going on on this site. And then the equipment details, we're just kind of going over the pieces. You saw this on the 5 to 12. You have the large climbing net with the membranes, 21 feet. The seesaw is great because that's about, you can get about 10, 12 users on that. It's also a great structure to have inclusivity. Anybody with a wheelchair, anybody with a disability can lay the middle but then you're also interacting true inclusion you're interacting with children with all types of abilities you have your rocking your rocking roller sprint spinner you have your supernova it doesn't look much most people see this they think what is that it's a donut but it's actually for for all ages and levels you can have a small three four year old on it actually just kind of laying on it rolling around and then you have your older children that can get on it and it When used properly, it kind of becomes like a surfboard, skateboard kind of thing where you run up it, it becomes more difficult. You jump in the air and you can just kind of glide around. So it really lends itself to many different users and abilities. The two to five section, again, you have the playhouse, so you have your traditional play, but we try to incorporate the physical challenge of the climbing. and all the surrounding elements, same thing. You have your springers, spinners, manipulative play, and so on. Lastly, in terms of the, I want to talk about the shading and the surfacing. So I previously mentioned that I had to do reductions on the shading because of the large area and the budget that we were forced to work with. The main idea was that usually the younger children tend to kind of feel that heat a little bit more. So I wanted to make sure that the main structure where you're going to have most of your play on the two to five area was covered. And then we took advantage of the five to 12 area where you have the pavilion. And again, the shade from the house next to it. The rest of the two to five pieces, like the swings and the spinners and so on, they tend to lend themselves to a little bit more free play, a little bit more wind. So you're not getting that concentration of heat on there. That's why that area is not covered. The surfacing that I chose was the artificial turf, and that was done for a certain reason, a few reasons. Reason number one, it lends itself to that natural kind of flow. You kind of incorporate the nature and the greenery that you have surrounding. On top of that, if the shade is something that maybe is done in phases, maybe you do decide later on you want shade. It's better to have an artificial turf that you can pull back, do your footers, add any shade, add any other structures that you may want to add. Or if there's any repairs in the future, it's easier to work with an artificial turf than it is with a PIP rubber. The PIP rubber will never match the same if you ever have to do a repair or if you ever have to do any addition. It'll fade. It'll look completely different. The PIP that you do day one will not look the same. as what you may do in year five or year six or year 10 or so on. So that was kind of the thought process behind the servicing.

13:59 – 14:14Glenn Singer

Thank you. Go back to the slide. What was the total cost? $699? Correct. I can't see that.

14:14Jessie Mendal

$699, $255. All right.

14:16Glenn Singer

Now I'm going to open it up to questions for the council. Start with Vice Mayor. Okay.

14:21Jessie Mendal

Question, have you ever, is there another park that has that structure currently?

14:27Speaker 18

Yeah, definitely. And I can give you the references.

14:31Jessie Mendal

The artificial turf, it's very hot.

14:36 – 15:08Speaker 18

It's, so I'm not going to lie to you, it's Miami. That's always a question about the heat. Everything gets hot here. If you're between, if you want it, so the least in terms of the surfacing retaining the heat, would probably be something like an EWF. The problem with an EWF, it's a loose fill. So now you have that being thrown around. There's a lot of maintenance to that. Kids are putting it in their mouth, throwing at each other. So really the two types of surface scenes that I would recommend for this park would either be a PIP, a poured in place rubber, or an artificial turf. The heat on either one of them, it's gonna be about the same.

15:09Glenn Singer

I have turf from my house and it really doesn't get that hot. I have it back in the front.

15:14 – 15:58Speaker 18

our turf does have it does come with a cool sand that you put on top of it to try to keep the temperature down but i mean i'm not going to lie it's south florida heat's a problem okay and i'm assuming you can tweak the the different equipment and for this and that of course of course and and as i mentioned with the with the larger structure on the 5 to 12 that doesn't have we don't have shade we can actually on that 15 foot the blue and yellow one with the multiple slides we do have an option where we can do an integrated shade off the structure and just kind of extend it. It's ideally here in South Florida, I always recommend standalone. So either a sail shades or mega spans, but that does provide a little bit of extra shade if needed. Thank you, Judy.

16:01Judy Lusskin

A question about the turf. Why do you choose the turf instead of the rubber pads?

16:07 – 16:47Speaker 18

So to me, the turf specifically, It lends to the design better. The price point is a little bit lower. Both are very high in surfacing. With the PIP, what you get over time is you get repairs and patches. So in four or five years, all of a sudden you do the patch, it does not look the same. And you see the patches. With artificial turf, if you ever have any repairs, you pull that back, you do your repair, you put it back and it looks exactly the same. So aesthetically, price point, it's better. And again, if you ever needed to add anything in terms of extra shade or extra equipment, you're better off.

16:48Judy Lusskin

I think I saw one swing set for both age groups. Am I right about that?

16:53Speaker 18

There's a swing set for the two to five and there's a swing set for the five to 12. The five to 12 had four Bs and the two to five, I'm drawing a blank now, it was either two or three Bs.

17:03Judy Lusskin

And one last question. Was there any thought put into where family would be seated to be able to watch the children?

17:10 – 17:29Speaker 18

Yeah, so there's benches around the 2 to 5 area and the 5 to 12 area. And again, the theme of the playground in terms of high transparency was so that the parents could kind of be a little bit back, not be a helicopter parent, and see their children, yet be able to sit off on the side and let them kind of navigate themselves.

17:30Speaker 8

Thank you. Councilman Bernstein? Just a clarification. When you were saying that you have artificial turf, you were talking about your artificial grass, right? Not artificial turf.

17:41Speaker 8

Well, no, the artificial grass is different than...

17:44Glenn Singer

It is? No, it's not.

17:45Speaker 8

The artificial grass and artificial turf.

17:47Judy Lusskin

It's the same. It's the green-looking stuff you roll out.

17:50Speaker 18

Yes, it's not real sod.

17:53 – 18:06Speaker 8

It's artificial turf. I've seen artificial grass that's a lot more coarse where you put more sand and it has less heat than... than like an artificial surface.

18:06 – 18:17Speaker 9

I think what the council member is referring to. So some of the turf is a little bit tighter knitted and so you'll have a tighter knit to it and some of it's more flaky and that's where the difference is, but it's still turf.

18:17Speaker 8

Okay, I would just make that.

18:19 – 18:40Speaker 18

There'll be different thickness and then there's also a difference because I also have artificial turf in my home. There's a difference between the artificial turf in your home and on a playground. Remember, all the artificial turf that's surfacing no matter what needs to be up to code in terms of critical fall heights. So you also have a padding that goes underneath and all the stone base that goes under that as well.

18:40Glenn Singer

Question for you. On the shade, what mile an hour winds can the shade stay up to? What is it?

18:48 – 19:17Speaker 18

When the hurricanes come, yeah, I believe, and that's a great, I believe it's somewhere between 75 to 90s when they start recommending to bring down the shade itself. And the shade is designed with a quick release, so it makes it a lot easier when a hurricane's coming. We also, our shade manufacturer provides and offers if you need them to come down here. The only thing that happens is when a hurricane hits South Florida, what happens? The entire area is making that request. So it's about availability.

19:18 – 19:44Speaker 8

I'm sorry. I had a couple other things. Oh, I'm sorry. The shape factor is very important to me. I understand. Growing up here and seeing How many of my friends had skin cancer? And if that was something very important to do, how much more would that cost to put the shade over the 5 to 12? Or what would you eliminate to get that shade over there?

19:44 – 20:08Speaker 18

So most of the cost that you have on this design is, I'm going to be real honest with you, it's going to be your surfacing. It's a large area. Your installation and your shade. adding shade to that five to 12 can be somewhere. And again, not integrated shade, but shade to cover the entire area could be another 50 to a hundred thousand dollars. It's a very large area.

20:09Speaker 8

He's got shade on, on the little kids. Yeah. The little ones, but not the five to 12.

20:13Glenn Singer

Yeah. Okay. Thank you. Any public, since you're here, any questions?

20:19Speaker 8

Can you hear me?

20:20Speaker 9

What? I can't hear. Councilman Einstein on zoom is asking a question.

20:24Glenn Singer

Oh yeah. Councilman Einstein.

20:27 – 21:39Bernard Einstein

I was in my car watching this on the way to the meeting. But anyway, and I'm coming from a skin cancer doctor, as Councilman Bernstein well put. Shade, and as we do our learning curve and go through this process, I think we're going to find that shade is a very important component to this, and having two grandchildren And going through a five and a two-year-old for the last five years and spending a lot of time, that shade is critical. It is so critical when you're out there. For the little kids, if you don't have it shaded, it's worthless. Second thing, the turf, whatever you want to call it. Are there various grades, A, B, C, D? You know, you say you're supplying turf, but I've seen some of this stuff. It looks rather cheap. Have you provided a sample of what your, since it is such a large component of this, we can look at a picture, but what turf are you actually providing?

21:41Speaker 18

Yeah, so that's not a problem. We haven't, so there hasn't been a request for us to provide a sample, but if you need one, not a problem. so that you can see the different thickness. Yeah.

21:51Bernard Einstein

And approximately how much a square foot are we talking about when it comes to that?

21:57 – 22:19Speaker 18

Off the top of my head, usually an artificial turf will cost you somewhere about $30 to $35 a square foot. You can see the breakdown. It's not your normal turf. It has to be IPMA certified, so it has to have its certain standards and regulations. And then, again, you have the padding, the thickness under it, and the stonework. So it's not... It's not the turf that you get at your home.

22:20Bernard Einstein

And if a dog defecates on it, or an animal?

22:26 – 22:38Speaker 18

It's porous, so you'd wash it out. I'd recommend rinsing out the areas. Obviously, you have the dog park. So there really shouldn't be, I would think there shouldn't be dogs on the playground.

22:38Glenn Singer

Ben, I have it on my house, and you pick it up and wash it, it's done. Yeah.

22:43Bernard Einstein

How about if they feed?

22:47Glenn Singer

It goes through. It's porous. It's all porous, yeah.

22:51Bernard Einstein

And can you use a pressure washer on this thing, or is that too abrasive on the turf?

22:56Speaker 18

On the artificial turf, yeah, you can lightly pressure wash. You would do the same thing with a PIP. You would do the same thing.

23:03 – 23:14Bernard Einstein

It would be a light pressure wash. Did Williams Island, did you happen to do Williams Island because they put a turf in recently?

23:14Speaker 18

No, Williams Island, I'm not familiar with the park.

23:17Bernard Einstein

Okay, but they did put a turf in.

23:19Speaker 18

Okay. Thank you.

23:21Jessie Mendal

We have someone asking a question if it's soccer pitch grade turf.

23:26Jessie Mendal

If it's soccer pitch grade turf?

23:29Speaker 18

No, it's specific to playgrounds. Your football field and soccer fields are completely different than the playground standards.

23:40Glenn Singer

Okay. Anyone here have any questions?

23:48 – 24:30Glenn Singer

Can you get a picture of the park? Yeah, he had it up on the screen. Go ahead and put it up. If you want to print out. Do you have a mic?

24:33Speaker 2

On the swings.

24:35Speaker 18

Yeah, so to address the swings, just because you are near the ocean, the chains would be stainless steel instead of the galvanized so that you don't have that rust.

24:53 – 25:21Speaker 9

So that's an excellent question and great observation. So you're correct. So the plastic over time, our park system is over 25 years old. So it will start to crumble a little bit and you'll get that residue on your hands. And I've seen the additional rubber pieces that you can put over the chain. Actually, when I take my grandson, it's an aftermarket piece and we could definitely apply that to it. But great observations about those.

25:21Bernard Einstein

One further question, if I could.

25:26 – 25:38Bernard Einstein

The height of that object, that's 21 feet tall. Is there any danger to that? Has that been trial tested? How many of those have been out in the field?

25:39 – 26:01Speaker 18

Yeah, so Compant's a large company. We're currently in over 80 different countries. Everything is to every standard, ASTM, IPMA, CPSI certified. We need to make sure that everything is compliant. Again, we have that same type of frame net. I have a park in Miami-Dade County. If you wanted to visit, you can definitely visit it.

26:02Speaker 9

Mayor, we're going to go ahead and call time on this presentation in the interest of the other presenters. We're going to go ahead and call time on this presentation in the interest of the other presenters.

26:10Speaker 3

We're time out.

26:11Speaker 9

Thank you so much. Okay, I was just trying to respond to the comments. Before we go on,

26:32 – 26:58Speaker 9

Thank you very much. Also, I just want to caution the council. So, and we've never, this is the first time in 20 years that we've done something like this. So remember, we are subject to bid protests. So I would caution council to try to answer questions to residents that would be part of a potential litigation in the future. So just let the staff deal with questions on the Zoom and don't provide your feedback because if one of the presenters decides to challenge your decision, then we'll all be in court trying to defend why we didn't.

26:58Speaker 8

Just by responding to the...

27:00Speaker 9

What I was trying to do. Yeah, so let's just be careful with that, because this is subject to potential judicial review.

27:07 – 27:29Speaker 8

Can I ask something before we go any further? When we were in Tallahassee, we were marveling at how amazing these trees are and how much shade they give, these old trees, like an oak tree. And when I see so many of the great parks that I love taking the kids to, so many of them had these natural canopies, like the trees. You go to Reynolds Park, they have a lot of— We can do that.

27:29Glenn Singer

That has nothing to do with them.

27:30Speaker 8

Well, my question is, is that something in their budget? Or that's not—like, just thinking about with the canopy.

27:37 – 28:51Speaker 9

So a couple things. So as it relates to shade, and shade's going to be a—shade's going to be a— the topic of discussion today. And so let's just go ahead and assume, for discussion purposes, that whichever vendor we decide to work with, one, clearly, if they've already included it, that should be a plus to them. But we are trying to preserve some of the larger shade trees that we currently have in Turtle Park. One of the things that I told the council earlier prior to your arrival was that we are also exploring keeping the existing shade tent in the five to 12 area to repurpose that because it's relatively new. And I agree with you, Councilman Bernstein, that we could buy larger, more mature shade trees like oaks and the such. I will tell you that it's not in the current landscape budget. The mayor and I just signed off on the landscape budget just last week. But we could definitely see how we could add. But yes, using natural shade is a way to preserve and to answer questions that people are referring to online. Of course, providing shade for those who are visiting, sitting in the benches, that is as important to us as it is providing shade for the playground. But excellent observation, and I love those trees in Tallahassee. Right, but I don't know if you can grow those trees here. Some of them you can. If you go to Lincoln Road, you'll see some of those northern oaks here, and they thrive well. Let's keep going, guys.

28:51Speaker 8

Yeah, but even just oaks are...

28:54Judy Lusskin

There's a couple of homes in Golden Beach.

28:56Speaker 9

All right. Eric Garcia, if you could bring the next presenter.

28:58Speaker 8

Even if they start off small in five or ten years.

29:09Speaker 9

Don't worry, that's fine. And what we'll do is we'll put the Zoom questions up every once in a while. It's the feedback.

29:13Speaker 8

Just so everyone knows that the council can't answer the Zoom questions.

29:20Glenn Singer

Let's say you bring in next.

29:37Glenn Singer

Welcome. I want to remind you guys you have 10 minutes. So we're on a tight schedule. Can we just hand out our presentation? You can hand out, yes.

29:45Jessie Mendal

Hi, thank you. Thank you.

29:53Speaker 8

As we have people looking on Zoom, are you going to be showing it on the monitor also? Okay.

30:01Speaker 3

Great, thank you.

30:11Speaker 8

Thank you. Thank you.

30:23Speaker 9

You ready, Michelle?

30:25Glenn Singer

Hi, my name's, good morning, Mayor, Council. Speak in the mic, because everyone can hear you.

30:31 – 34:13Speaker 19

Good morning, Mayor, Council. My name is Steve Noskin, Florida Recreation Products. I'm the owner. Michelle Fernandez is our Miami-Dade County Rep. So she would be the project manager for this project. She's done all the work that you see in front of you. We pride ourselves real quickly as a company to have specific reps for specific counties. So someone's not gonna be driving in two hours every day to see your project and oversee it. Michelle will be here every day. We have our own CRM. So all pictures, everything that happens on the site is recorded. And we welcome our clients to retain those if they will. So they have a history of everything that happens on their site. So we do that on a regular basis, not just for Golden Beach, as special as you guys are, but for all our clients. Keeping in mind in front of you, when we first decided to work on this project, we visited Golden Beach. It's a beautiful community. And we noticed, of course, that it's mostly residential. So we wanted to keep part of the design, there's a lot of intention it seems that goes into this community and everything's planned out and curated. So we didn't just want to create some large overscaled playground that was very loud. We wanted it to fit into the community. So you'll see throughout the design, We have Palm Beaches because as, of course, you know, you live here, A1A has, you know, corridor of Palm Beaches. So that's throughout the playground. We wanted to make sure that the playground had good flow, meaning it created a natural progression from one side of the playground to the other. And that included visibility. If you see in the center of the playground, there's a blue shade structure with a seating area for parents or children to sit and enjoy, but still have sight lines so that they could see their children play. We thought that was really important for this, considering that one part of the playground is by the community center, and one part is closer to the tennis courts. So to have that side view was really important for parents to see what was going on. And then balance, like I mentioned, we didn't want to have one colossal play structure or two colossal play structures. We wanted to have tremendous play value. We wanted to put a lot of components in a spread out area. We also wanted to present a theme. We took the information that you were going to have parties in the community center, and we said, let's create a theme that the community can rely on or use for parties. So we developed the pirate ship, as you saw, for the two to five area. So if we go through the catalog, the presentation real quick, and Michelle will interject as she feels needed. We represent Burt, which is 100 year old playground company. And there's a lot of projects throughout Miami, Broward County. We're also built in America by Americans, which I don't know if that's important, but I like to mention that. And before we get into the design, two key components or characteristics of Burke that no one else has is we have a coastal coating package that goes on all our products. So all the steel products that are in this proposal have our coastal coating, prevents it from rust. The other major advantage that we see is our 15-year slide warranty. So if you have any of these slides in the 14th year, 11th month, 28th day fails, you get a brand new slide and another 15 years. It's not, it just ends at 15. You keep on going. So longevity is really important. Why don't you explain the two to five area?

34:14 – 34:51Speaker 5

Yes. So the two to five area, I was thinking a lot of imaginary play. So we have a pirate ship. So you have slides, you have climbing structures, you have a little stand that they can pretend they're giving out gold and playing as a pirate. And we have the Vero, we have like a little spinner motion play, a little tunnel, and we have shade structure as well and seating throughout. So just thinking parties and even kids that are over the age of five are going to enjoy this playground. So it says it's a two to five safe, but all ages really would enjoy this playground.

34:52 – 37:56Speaker 19

And we wanted to relate also that our benches that we provided were not the inexpensive benches that you see at a lot of playgrounds. Those are usually dipped metal in what they call a polyurethane type coating and they're perforated. We provided in this quotation, our signature benches were our architectural benches. So these are ones that you would see in a really good square in a community. of just very high end type of bench. So I just want that noted that we just didn't throw benches and just have the benches. These are our signature benches. And if you want to fully evaluate them, you can see them in the catalog. The other thing I wanted to mention specifically about the pirate area is it's not indicated on the drawings. And I'm sorry for that. But we were going to provide themes underneath the pirate ship. So we were going to add in the turf that synthetic turf blue under the boat. We were going to create a brown area outside so that you see those rocks that kids crawl apart. They'll be crawling across like water to get onto the boat. So I'm so sorry that wasn't in the presentation, but that would be no additional cost. And we'll sit down with you if you want to even get more specific. We wanted to add a lot of color to the artificial turf. I also wanted to mention as we go in, I know we only have 10 minutes, so I'm trying to go through these fast and respect your time. The five to 12 unit is very unique as well. We created this unit for kids with all abilities, but it also has specific components for kids with less abilities to get onto the playground. You'll see our patented 360 slide. It looks like This one right here, that's our 360 slide. Burke's the only company that has it. So kids with less abilities can literally come up to this portion right here, and then they can traverse their way up onto the equipment. So kids with all abilities run up these transition points, but kids with less abilities now can play with all the other kids on the entire playground. We're talking about an eight-foot slide here. There's no other play equipment in our industry that can have kids that have less abilities now play in the entire unit. So I wanted to point that out as something different, because I know that you were looking for some type of wow effect or something that was different. We thought that was extremely different to have these transfer stations. As you can see also in the background, there's more of those transfer. They have like a black rubber going up to the top of the slide. As far as shades, Instead of coming up with a mega shade like you have on your existing playground, we wanted to add our triangle shades because it provided those with also the trees that are out there gives you enough shade to present, again, clear lines and aesthetics that add to the community. We just didn't want to throw some big shade, a 30 by 50 shade over and say, okay, we've got a nice shade structure. We wanted to add something that would enhance the playground. Did you want to add something on the five to 12?

37:56 – 38:12Speaker 5

Yes. So the five to 12, you see there's paneling. It's all play. We have music. We have, there's chimes, there's drums, there's a different hide and seek games there as well. So throughout the structure, you have play ability as well.

38:12Speaker 19

And why don't you talk about a movement piece?

38:15 – 38:27Speaker 5

Okay, yes, so in the play structure, there's also a movement piece. So you can stand and it just, you can shake side to side. So throughout the play structure, there's, integrated play as well.

38:27 – 38:52Speaker 19

I'll elaborate on the movement piece because no one has this piece. It's actually a game. It's solar paneled where kids play against each other. So there's a sequence of lights that go. So one kid, they have to follow the sequence of lights and they play and the score comes up and we've seen adults play it. So at first Burke had one that was very wide and long, but they've condensed one to go onto a pole.

38:53Speaker 6

to one post.

38:53 – 40:12Speaker 19

So now the kids can play literally around this and adults play with their children. So it's pretty unique as well. Also, I want to mention all of our swings that we presented all have shade structures. They're fully shaded and our swings have what we call a connection seat, which is a seat where the parent and the child can sit on the same swing. The child faces the parent as it goes back and forth. Did you want to add anything else before we open for questions? So just to reiterate, again, we wanted to come up with something that we felt would meet the criterion for your city. We didn't want to come up with anything overwhelming. We wanted to come up with a natural, creative, but... A playground with many activities, which they do. There's a lot of climbing apparatus on here, a lot of slides, a lot of things for kids to do, a lot of imaginative play, all within the confines with good sight lines and good balance. And we'll take any questions. What was the cost of this? I believe right under your budget, it was $695. $695? $600 what? I don't remember the exact number. $695 was it? That's it.

40:12Speaker 9

Mayor, they're all within a few thousand dollars each other. 650? OK. Oh, 650? OK. No, no. What I'm saying, they're all within a few thousand dollars of each other. So they're all in this.

40:21Glenn Singer

Hey, Alex, one thing before we go to question. We talked about before, but none of the presenters have it. We talked about some type of water feature, maybe like a mister.

40:32 – 40:43Speaker 9

We intentionally kept that out of the design. Because we're working with the civil plans to find out exactly what we're going to do like a Mr. We are there. We have we've identified two locations where we're going to add it once we select the vendor.

40:43Glenn Singer

Okay. All right. With that, I'm going to start questions. Vice Mayor first.

40:47Jessie Mendal

Quick question. Can you change the are there different design options? In other words, if it's not a pirate ship, can we have different options?

40:56 – 41:20Speaker 19

Absolutely. Yeah, we'll custom design as well. And a lot of those panels that I didn't even mention, we have cutouts where, for example, there's a mermaid cutout. We can do any customs like that. So if you have specific custom cutout panels that you want, or we have the seal of Golden Beach on one of the panels. So anything that you want to create, we can create in a photo or in a laser cut.

41:20Glenn Singer

Are you anti-pirate? I'm just kidding.

41:24Speaker 9

I second that motion.

41:26Glenn Singer

You can customize it. I like pirates.

41:28 – 41:47Speaker 19

And we did provide a 3D interactive, which is right behind you, I see. So you can go through that and really play with the different angles. But of course, if you don't want pirate ship, we can give you anything else you want. We like the pirate because it had the flags coming down. It just had a different design.

41:48Glenn Singer

Thank you. Judy?

41:48Speaker 19

Councilman Lester?

41:51Judy Lusskin

Are all the pieces of equipment have coastal coating?

41:55Speaker 19

All the metal pieces have coastal coating. Yes, ma'am.

41:58Judy Lusskin

Are there pieces that are not metal?

42:00Speaker 19

Well, there's plastic pieces. So some of the panels are plastic. Some of the spinners are made of plastic.

42:06Speaker 19

No wood, ma'am.

42:07Judy Lusskin

Okay. And the metal ones, they're powder coated? Is that it?

42:16Speaker 19

Yes, it's a series of four coats. And I can, I think you include the digital.

42:21Speaker 5

Yes, I included it.

42:23 – 42:35Speaker 19

It's in your packet at the end. I believe it talks a little about it, but it's four layers. So it gives an additional layer. It's actually in the primer that prevents the rust. And then we put on an additional protective coating on top.

42:35 – 42:50Speaker 8

Thank you. Councilman Bernstein. With regards to the coating and the plastic, is there measures of heat that, Is it lower heat? I didn't know if there was like a... That's a great question.

42:50Speaker 19

I don't know the specific answer to that, but it is tested in what they call a UV chamber, which tests for heat. I could get you that answer. I wouldn't want to guess, but it is tested.

43:00Speaker 8

So it doesn't like melt or, you know, flex at all.

43:03Speaker 19

It's definitely been tested, and I could get you that if you want.

43:07Speaker 8

So the coating on the metal, that's going to basically hold the...

43:13 – 43:32Speaker 19

The elements, that's correct. What happened on some of your pieces out here, the old Miracle structure that you had, you see the fading. We won't have that fading. I'm sure Miracle won't either. I'm not trying to say they would. But the newer technology has where the coatings are a lot more much better, especially burr, because we really do everything here in the States.

43:33Speaker 8

You'd also mention the benches, which I like because I've seen so many benches that I just feel like make things look so cheap. Is there any pictures or anything that you have?

43:42Speaker 19

Yes, there's some smaller pictures in here, but I'll be more than happy as a follow-up to send you the benches.

43:50Speaker 1

They're called our signature bench, right?

43:52Speaker 19

Our signature bench, I have a catalog as well. Mr. Bernstein, I can leave with you. I have two catalogs if you want to see.

43:58Speaker 8

Yeah, I just was curious what the bench looks like.

44:00 – 44:16Speaker 19

Totally architectural. That's why Burke created it, because every playground had that perforated, dipped metal bench that, you know, it feels kind of rubbery, but it's not. It's inexpensive looking, and it is. It's about a third the cost.

44:16Speaker 3

And aesthetically, it looks nice because it goes with the playground.

44:20Speaker 19

No, yeah. It's the same colors.

44:22 – 44:39Bernard Einstein

Thank you. Councilman Einstein. Thanks for being here today. Real quickly, I'm just going to refer to this as the first page. It looks like you're... The second page is another rendition. I don't know how much equipment we're getting. Is the first and second page...

44:39Speaker 5

It's all of it. It's different angles.

44:41 – 45:07Bernard Einstein

It's different angles of the equipment. Okay. When I look at the first and second page, the white... Support staffs there. Looks very spiky to me. It looks like you got a lot of white rods coming up from the ground. I know you need that for support, but is it because they're in white? Can they be toned down?

45:07Speaker 5

You can change it any color. We have our color.

45:10Bernard Einstein

But does anyone else? Can you look in that bin?

45:13 – 45:35Speaker 19

Mr. Einstein, there was a five inch round post. So just keep that in mind because some of our competitors use three and a half inch posts. It's a big difference in price. But those are five inch posts and it's more from the 3D picture that you're seeing that they look spiky. They're actually very rounded and I could try and get you a real world picture for you if you'd like.

45:35 – 46:08Bernard Einstein

I understand, just to my eye, looking at this photo. So those are two angles of that. I guess in the brown, it's less pronounced than on the white. But when the white is out there, it just looks like I'm looking at pungy sticks from Vietnam. Is the bench on page four, right in that right-hand corner?

46:08Speaker 5

There are two benches for the small structure and then there's a- Yes, that's one of the benches.

46:16Bernard Einstein

So there's really no back support on that bench, is that correct?

46:19Speaker 19

On this particular bench, there's not, but we could provide a back support. There's no extra charge for that.

46:27 – 46:42Bernard Einstein

There's no extra charge, but that has no support and that is what that bench looks like. That's correct. It has like four little legs on it, or I think they're little, but, and that's your top quality.

46:43Glenn Singer

Thank you. Anything else?

46:46Bernard Einstein

Turf, he discussed the turf.

46:48Glenn Singer

Mayor, I have questions.

46:52Glenn Singer

Ben, what's your question? Did they discuss the turf?

46:57Speaker 9

I was going to go there. Okay, fine.

47:01Bernard Einstein

Thank you. Go on.

47:02 – 47:17Speaker 9

So I noticed earlier in your presentation you referred to it being all turf for the site, but I was a little bit concerned. So you said that underneath certain areas we would have colored turf. Is that a paint application that goes on top of the green turf?

47:17 – 47:33Speaker 19

That's a great question, and it's not. you know, a major supplier, Shaw Carpet, they actually make most of the turf in the country. And the vendor that we use colors each blade. So those blades are fully colored. They're not painted on.

47:34Speaker 9

So they're so when they're when they're manufactured, it's a solid through. It's not a it's not.

47:39 – 47:55Speaker 19

That's correct. It's not on top. That's a great question. I'm glad you asked that. And It is synthetic turf. It's very high quality turf from Shaw is the manufacturer. They're out of Georgia. You can look them up. It's under the Sunshine Turf name. That's our vendor. But we will provide all documentation for that.

47:55Speaker 9

Mayor, two follow-up questions. So it seems like most of your shade structures are actually shade applications that are on the actual plate equipment itself.

48:02Speaker 3

So they're integrating.

48:04Speaker 9

In applying those shade structures, do you take into account the time of the day to get the maximum shade structure when the sun is at high noon? Is that the way that you've applied it?

48:11 – 48:24Speaker 19

Those are actually... pre-designed. So we gave our designers at Burke the layout of the land, the east, west, north, and they created where those shades should face to maximize shade protection.

48:24 – 48:35Speaker 9

Okay, my third and final question. I just want to just echo Councilman, excuse me, Vice Mayor Mendel's point. Should the pirate theme be something that may be controversial for us? Can we switch it to some other type of?

48:35 – 48:49Speaker 19

Yes, of course. And anything else in the playground, We will change. So if you don't want colors, if you want to see a different spinner, if you want to see a different slide, we work with our municipalities.

48:49Glenn Singer

I can't believe you're anti-pirate, too. Well, Mayor, pirates have a reputation for being swindlers and scammers. I was going to wear a patch, too.

48:55Speaker 9

And given the wealth in our community, we wouldn't want to have swindlers and scammers. Pirates have a what? A reputation of being swindlers and scammers. And so we just want to be sensitive to those type of concerns.

49:04Speaker 8

I personally like swindlers. What the heck?

49:11Glenn Singer

Believe it or not, it came up. Alex, you're over your question limit.

49:16Speaker 8

Any public comments? I just want to say before we went public, I love the idea of the blue. color to distinguish the ship. I thought that was great.

49:26Speaker 19

And there's no, Mr. Bernstein, there's no limitation to that. So we'll sit down with you and you'll say, hey, we want to make it look like this over here. We'll do that for you.

49:35Speaker 8

Yeah, I mean, so like if they don't like the pirate theme or whatever, but I'd like the idea of a theme.

49:39Speaker 5

It doesn't have to be a pirate theme. We can make it as a ship.

49:42Glenn Singer

Why is everyone against pirates?

49:44Bernard Einstein

I like pirates, personally. Approximate cost per square foot of the turf. Approximate cost?

49:55Speaker 19

I believe our cost to you is about $17 a foot installed. And that includes the sub-base.

50:03Jessie Mendal

And it has the padding.

50:05Speaker 19

I'm transparent. He can ask me whatever he wants. That's installed, right? That's correct, sir.

50:09Judy Lusskin

Every component is all rounded edges, correct?

50:13Speaker 19

That's correct.

50:16Glenn Singer

Ladies, you've been patient. Any questions? Can we give you the mic?

50:19Speaker 13

Oh, here you go.

50:21Glenn Singer

Oh, I didn't even know you had a hand. Just introduce yourself so everyone knows.

50:24 – 50:46Speaker 13

My name is Cecile Mendel. Beautiful parks. They look stunning, and my kids would be very happy in them. The only comment I would have or question is, at least for the two- to five-year-old one, my fear is always when there's a height and there's an opening that the kids could fall, especially the young ones. And I don't know specifically, but you'd be able probably to close off the one with the stairs out here so that they don't come out. through the other side.

50:46Glenn Singer

There'll be a pirate there to save them.

50:50Speaker 13

That's the only problem I have. It's always my fear.

50:59Speaker 5

Burke, we do the height requirements, so it's lower, and then we do extra padding in those areas.

51:08Speaker 19

And we're also open to community feedback, so if you want us to come back, if we're lucky to be chosen to meet and answer any concerns.

51:16Glenn Singer

You have a question?

51:17 – 53:14Speaker 22

Yes, absolutely agree with this beautiful lady. I guess you have a kid small too? Yeah, me too. I have five and seven, and they look like super climy. And my first fear not about shade, not about floor. about safety. I don't want my child be broken legs, broken arms. And I already see this park absolutely give me heart attack. Tell it true. I am a mom, and I prefer to come in the park and enjoy, relax. I won't send them there and be safety. Of course, babies you have to watch. But even two to five, do not expect these beautiful kids go on a slide, look like this. No, they're usually on top. They usually fight. They usually jump. They usually stand up on the slides. We can't prevent any movement. Of course, all slides should be, for the baby, should be closed. Absolutely agree. And for the child, for the big parks, I see a lot of areas, super high climbs with very big opening space. Child easily can fall from each, this one part. This one, it's a five to, even for, yes. Two to five, I see the slides opening should be completely closed. And all walls, even climb walls should be minimized area where you can, child can easily fall. Even child fall from this height can have a concussion and we can go straight to the hospital. We don't want this. I want to relax in the park, believe me, I'm a mom. I would come to park, and I want to go to this park. Because if I see these parks, for example, 5 to 12, and usually the kids jumping, crazy, running, fighting, playing within the pirates or something. And I see this many open areas, climbing, beautiful. But we want less challenge. We want to enjoy and relax. More slides, safety. Put everywhere where you see up areas, fine. You go climb and make all bars close so we don't worry about this. They can jump, they can push each other because kids get crazy in the parks.

53:15Speaker 22

Please, to test it, take a child, run around, you know, and see any holes he can fall. So this is, we want to be safe.

53:23 – 53:35Glenn Singer

Thank you. We're on a time constraint. So with that, I'm going to close it. Thank you very much for your time. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you for your questions. Thank you. Next presenter.

53:35 – 54:08Speaker 9

Mayor, while they come in, just a couple quick things. So lunch is downstairs. You're more than welcome to, at your leisure, just go downstairs, and we'll take a formal break a little bit later. That's number one. Number two, don't forget, so today's process, we're going to listen to everyone. And then if you'd like more time with one of the presenters, we could always bring them back at Tuesday's council meeting to have a more in-depth conversation as part of our process. So don't feel compelled or rushed today. With that said, we're going to have John Bell.

54:08Glenn Singer

Ben, do that outside. We need to get the next presenter. We'll get John Bell to come in.

54:14Speaker 9

What's that? I like that one.

54:20Speaker 3

What's that? I like that. I did too. And I love it.

54:30Jessie Mendal

Boys would love it.

54:32Speaker 8

I don't care what it is.

54:34Glenn Singer

You could put mermaids. Yes. With the pirates. Oh, and then the boys would be insulted. You could have the pirates. Yeah, you could do both.

54:43Judy Lusskin

But if they don't forget about the transgenic.

54:46Glenn Singer

Right. What about the transgender?

54:49Judy Lusskin

Don't forget about them.

54:51Speaker 3

They're very important. Oh, my god.

54:54Jessie Mendal

Don't even go there, Glenn.

54:58Glenn Singer

Guys, welcome. Just want to remind you guys, you're on a 10-minute time constraint, and we're sticking to it.

55:05 – 1:03:53Speaker 4

Hello. Fernando with Playworks, working alongside John Bell, proposing our presentation to you, our park for you. So keep it simple. It's nice. It's pretty. It's gorgeous. I'm done. And it's free? And it's free. No, no, no, no. I just said it's nice and pretty. Pretty is not free. So based on the design and the concept that you guys all wanted to do, our presentation, the two layouts, the five and 12-year-old and the two to five-year-old range, we went with a concept that color scheme and everything wanted to be coastal, tropical colors for you. For the two to five-year-old range, well, this right here, this is the five to 12. So we went with multiple slides, including a spiral slide, net climbing experiences. One of the things that we wanted to provide for you guys all, for the children when they're playing, is simply different types of mobility and climbing structures. So you'll have a bunch of overhead elements, three different overhead elements. You have obviously the high-capacity swings, the net climbing experiences, the rope scramblers, things that keep it mobile. And children, at the end of the day, when we take our kids to the park, very simply put, let's get them tired. and let them have a good time and memorable. The color scheme that we went with, like I said, we wanted to do something different that's tropical and coastal, but is also not falls within what people typically think of South Florida color schemes. You know, I'm tired of that neon thing of pink and blue. So we went with this color palette. But one of the options that if there's something that you prefer, maybe a little slightly different, we can change that for you. It's not at any cost extra. From a shade element standpoint, one of the things that we also decided we used, obviously, to fit within the budget that you all wanted without going over was using the elements of the playground structure. So, for example, that thatched roof, you know, giving that tropical feel to it, but at the same time it provides shade. It comes with the equipment and it provides a shade element along with a modular shade attached to it. The palm trees, the palm trees they're designed to do obviously for aesthetics, but also providing additional shade. So using the elements of the shade structure itself, of the playground structure that's there, but providing some shade for you, and also providing vertical landmarks, things that are aesthetically pleasing, that are different, that are unique, so that when people are driving by or checking it out, oh, something different, something cool that you don't really see elsewhere. Okay. This shading, obviously, as you know, it's cooler play surfaces and things like that. We also implemented shade structures for the picnic area, the tables that are there so that parents can, obviously, when they're bringing something to eat or munch on or for parties, there'll be shade structures on the tables. The layout that we designed for the swings, and this is as well as why it's there, is based on the designs that we know as far as the plans for the surrounding area around the playground. Behind the swings there, you're seeing it from the rear view point of view, is... We know that you're going to have trees and plants up there. So from a cost perspective, we realized it would be overkill to put a shade. You could actually install a modular shade onto there. But we chose not to do that simply because you're going to have shade already, natural shade coming from behind there. And then with the structures in front, there will also be some shade coming from the front as well. As you can see as well, we also are going to include two ADA compliant swings there on the right hand side. Again, our equipment as well, as with everyone else, is also ADA compliant, so there's also wheelchair accessibility, as you see where that little boy is there on the lower deck, the wheelchair accessibility. There's an example of one of our climbers as well, which is the Infinite Climber. Again, just create the rock climbing wall. These elements that we've included here is just, is once again, to provide you know, mobility and just fun for the kids to run across the bridges that's there, as well as the multiple slide options. The turf is the synthetic turf, 10 year warranty on that turf as well. We also can, if you choose to, can provide color scheme within the turf as well so if you wanted to continue with that aquatic maybe go with an aquatic feel maybe around the playground area we could include we could we could change it from green to give it a blue make it sort of feel like you're you know the children and give it a sort of aquatic lake water feel to it but the synthetic turf the one the advantage with that is we have a 10-year warranty on that in fact i believe our program and it's You want to just quickly go towards the end on the ecoturf? Keep going towards the end. That's the next one. There you go. So that's a Shawgrass 10-year warranty on that. Very low maintenance. That's the beauty of the synthetic turf. It comes with the base, crushed rock, and then a padding that goes underneath it, and then the synthetic turf. The only thing really with that that needs to be done as far as maintenance is just basically the guys come with a little blower, blow it out to keep it clean. And then every three to five years is just add a little more infill, which just keeps the blades upright at all times. As I said before, there are different color options if you want to add a different shade of color to the grass in certain areas. But we went with green all throughout. very durable, very low maintenance, and provides the cushioning and safe and fall zones that you all need for that. The wow factor on this is simple. I mean, go back. Everyone will tell you who, you know, what's the wow factor. Well, unless you're going to put some kind of space mountain kind of thing on it, it's all playground equipment. The wow factor we designed here was just simple. Make it aesthetically pleasing to you all. You know, make the design memorable, giving, you know, creating some of that coastal feel that you're looking for with the palm trees, the color scheme, something that just catches the eye but is not an eyesore. Okay, with different, you know, aspects, elements to it from the village counter panel to the birch bridge. As I said, the rock and pile with the palms, which not just aesthetically, but the children, especially from the two to five, easy for them to climb on and on that little rock pile as well. So again, it's another climbing element. As you see there with the color chart, just trying to make it a landmark presence for you all. and for the and for the community. A destination that you know, two major playing zones and multiple climbers, inclusive features and gathering areas that you know, at the end of the day makes it a destination for kids and parents to take their kids to play with at the park. Okay. Nothing more, nothing less. This isn't rocket science. It's just trying to keep it nice and simple for you all. With some additional elements like the turtle, the blowfish that we have there, we have as well there, which is a climber tunnel as well. Again, just keeping within the theme of tropical and coastal community. Photoworthy, that at the end of the day, hopefully, is what we've been able to present to you here. Something that when the children are there and parents are there and People want to take selfies, it's selfie-worthy. You know? It's that simple, folks. That's our wow factor. It's Little Tikes. You know, it's a brand name that everyone knows. We all have our children. We all had children. We all had little toys playing with that were little text toys. And so that's what we're trying to provide here, playground equipment that delivers comfort through shade, through safety, through the design, and joy when the children play, from the rockers to the bridges to the slides to the climbing elements, and then providing some shade elements so that they're not burning in the hot sun. Any questions.

1:03:53Glenn Singer

Opening up. Vice mayor.

1:03:56Jessie Mendal

How high is the structure on on the option be.

1:04:02 – 1:04:27Speaker 4

The height. On the structure for on that one on the 2 to 5 year-old of the 5 to 12 now the 5 to 12 12 on the 5 to 12 year-old. The height on that one is me it's 8 feet. So it's the first light. It's the first light. Yes. How high are the palm trees? The palm trees are roughly... Let me see if I have...

1:04:27Judy Lusskin

They look higher than the... Yeah, they're... They're really high.

1:04:30Speaker 4

They're about... The rendering does a good job of giving it that kind of height, but it's the same height as the shade, which is about 12 feet. 12 feet? Yeah. I'm sorry to make you skip it.

1:04:39Glenn Singer

Any other questions, Vice Mayor?

1:04:40Judy Lusskin

No. Is everything PVC?

1:04:45Speaker 4

Everything is... With the exception of the posts.

1:04:48Judy Lusskin

With the exception of what?

1:04:49Speaker 4

The steel... The posts. The posts are steel.

1:04:51Judy Lusskin

The post or what?

1:04:52Speaker 4

The post, the columns that are holding the equipment together, those are steel.

1:04:56Glenn Singer

Okay. Okay, Councilman Bernstein. Anything else? Councilman Bernstein?

1:05:03Speaker 8

I like the contrast of the artificial turf and the grass. I like that green-green. Yeah. But can you go back to the two-and-a-five-year-old one?

1:05:14Speaker 4

Yeah, that's a two-and-a-five.

1:05:18 – 1:05:41Speaker 8

And so... two to five are going to be climbing up this ladder that ladder yeah and that that ladder is about okay just yeah yeah okay i mean just to yeah i agree raising questions on the sure yeah people being having to be on top of them or not no absolutely absolutely and and if you see the layout as well that's why one of the things we also designed with the with the seating was also to give

1:05:42 – 1:05:57Speaker 4

There's a bench there where parents can keep an eye out. And it's all within fall heights. Everything is designed within the fall height and safety zones for age limits. So that's why the two to five, it's only three feet. It's not that high.

1:05:57 – 1:06:21Bernard Einstein

Yeah, I agree with you that that ladder is a challenge for a two or three year old. I've been chasing them for the last five years. You know, they're going to fall through that their chin, whatever. Sure. And that can be changed if you wish. I understand the things like a ladder that they kind of climb across that feature in these.

1:06:22Speaker 4

That's not, well, that's not in the two to five year old because.

1:06:25Bernard Einstein

No, or five to 12. Yes. Can you show me that if you have that kind of feature? Five to 12.

1:06:33Bernard Einstein

Where they, you know, because the kids like to hang at various rods and do, and so far this is the first one that has that. Do they have it?

1:06:42Speaker 4

Can you just show me where that? There's multiple climbing elements that we have on the five to 12 year old.

1:06:48Bernard Einstein

Yeah. But the kind that they, you know, you hang on it and you put your legs.

1:06:55Speaker 4

I call them monkey bars because that's a monkey bars. But yes, technically they call it overhead climbers.

1:07:03Bernard Einstein

And that ladder over there. Yeah.

1:07:06 – 1:07:32Speaker 4

So we have, so as you can see there, like I said, we have multiple, multiple climbing options. You have the ring one, which that is what you would think of the old school monkey bars, except just circular. Then you have a ring option, the ring handle option there. Obviously, the, I call them pull-up bar options there for children to play with. On the other end, if we have another, we should have another, a couple more images.

1:07:36Glenn Singer

Well, stop, go back. Real quick, while you're on that, the shade structures, are those made out of the same material?

1:07:43Speaker 4

The shade structure is, well, the frames are steel. And then it's a fabric. It's the same construction.

1:07:50Glenn Singer

The brown one's fabric too?

1:07:52Speaker 4

No, the brown one is actually PVC.

1:07:54Glenn Singer

It's actually a hard top.

1:07:57Speaker 4

It's not, it's not, it's not a hard top. It's not a, it's not a fabric. The only fabric there is, is a, is a shade, is a shade struck the modular shade.

1:08:06 – 1:08:53Bernard Einstein

And there was a thought, because I think I, when I thought with you yesterday, town manager, you said that they were thinking of repurposing the shade structure we have currently at Tweedle park. I think you see it. They have a little area like the village something where you the window Oh real quickly and I'm just saying this as an aside I know we're probably it might be a turf or other type of structure We may want to think about a little area of cement Where you can do chalk and they can draw with chalk on that area. That's a big there's exterior sidewalk in those areas Okay, that's a big pastime of the kids

1:08:54Speaker 4

It's great big chunks of talk and on it.

1:08:56Bernard Einstein

Yeah. And I see it's all turf, but we somewhere down the road.

1:09:02Speaker 4

We can lay out incorporate. We can and we can cut out a specific area that you may want.

1:09:07Speaker 9

Town manager, you have a question. Is there anything? Is there anything that spins?

1:09:11Speaker 4

No, we did not put any spinning elements there.

1:09:14Glenn Singer

You could spin the kid and then put him on there. Twist him around.

1:09:17Speaker 4

Grab him and twirl.

1:09:19Speaker 9

Believe it or not, spinning now. It's big.

1:09:23Speaker 4

So could we add a spinning? We can add a spinning element. I mean, we can do whatever you want.

1:09:28Speaker 9

Those of us who are grandparents now know the importance of spinning.

1:09:33Bernard Einstein

And our old park has a spinner. Pirate grandparent. Our old park has a spinner. And as you can see, like I said, we have...

1:09:41Glenn Singer

I know you've been waiting patiently. Do you have any questions? No? Perfect. Thank you, guys. Really appreciate it. Have a good day. Good presentation.

1:09:49Bernard Einstein

Can I ask a quick question? Absolutely. So out in Vail in Colorado, they had a thing you held on, and it took you around in a circle.

1:09:57Speaker 4

Oh, yeah, there's a little glider.

1:09:59Bernard Einstein

I mean, it looks dangerous, but that was quite a feature.

1:10:04Speaker 4

It is a wonderful feature, and there is that element.

1:10:07Speaker 4

Again, I mean, simply put. Everything all within budget.

1:10:12Speaker 4

The budget is going to be the key. That's that wow factor that we're talking about, and it is?

1:10:19Bernard Einstein

The turf you're in sewing, approximately per square foot?

1:10:23Speaker 4

$10 per square foot.

1:10:24Bernard Einstein

Yours is $10, and it is the Shaw product.

1:10:26Speaker 4

It's the Shaw product. It's exactly what... Fading on that?

1:10:30Bernard Einstein

Does it fade? It...

1:10:34 – 1:11:05Speaker 4

I'll tell you, especially here in South Florida, because of the weather, I mean, everyone will tell you, oh, no, 15 years with the rain, with the salt and the sun. If you properly maintain it, occasionally giving it some watering because the watering will help cool it off as well. If the maintenance comes from time to time, it'll last longer. maybe about eight years before you see some changing in the fading, as long as it's properly maintained. Now, the beauty with Shaw is that it's a 10-year warranty. Thank you.

1:11:06Speaker 9

So if there's anything, it could be fixed.

1:11:07Speaker 4

Thank you. Thanks, guys.

1:11:10Bernard Einstein

Appreciate it. Thank you, guys.

1:11:16Speaker 9

Next one. 360.

1:11:22Glenn Singer

You bring the sandwiches in so we can eat while they talk?

1:11:25Speaker 3

That would be a good idea. Eric?

1:11:33Speaker 8

That was the first one?

1:11:36Judy Lusskin

Interesting that everybody is showing muted colors.

1:11:39Speaker 8

They're showing what?

1:11:40Judy Lusskin

All muted colors. Like greens, like blues. It's irrelevant. None of those primary red, white, and blue.

1:11:47Speaker 9

I don't care what they spend on the grass.

1:12:01Glenn Singer

I don't think any of them knew what their cost per square foot first guy said 35. I think I think it's wrong Yeah

1:12:27Speaker 9

Ben, what I would do is rank them. I heard on the phone, you gave us a thing.

1:12:36Speaker 8

So I'm just going through ranking one to five in grades.

1:12:41Glenn Singer

I mean, I'm just giving grades one to five. Welcome, guys.

1:12:46 – 1:13:02Speaker 9

Just want to remind you, you have 10 minutes and we're going to go and take a quick recess so we can get their presentation loaded onto our computer system. So if you if you'd like to just go to the sandwiches downstairs.

1:13:02Speaker 8

OK. Should we just go down there and back up for anyone on Zoom?

1:13:10Speaker 21

We're just going to take a quick five minute recess.

1:13:17Glenn Singer

slide in there benster how's your appointment go recording stopped by ear you know whatever good guy

1:13:37Jessie Mendal

We did it with a company that does it. Literally, we're on a plane, and we would stay either one or two nights in every camp.

1:13:45Speaker 3

But we would go to Victoria Falls.

1:13:49Jessie Mendal

We did the Wine Country.

1:13:51 – 1:14:03Bernard Einstein

Yeah, my ear gets, he's going to do it, and I'll come in next Tuesday. Tuesday, 1 o'clock. And he doesn't want to do the arm training. I can't award it.

1:14:16Speaker 4

You guys good? Do you guys need anything?

1:14:19Glenn Singer

Thank you, Eric. I guess a straw?

1:14:22Speaker 3

Yeah. Thanks. Recording in progress.

1:14:42Glenn Singer

I don't remember what I ordered.

1:14:46Jessie Mendal

There are 360s right here.

1:14:48 – 1:14:59Speaker 3

Oh, shit. Can I eat all this? You want some roll-eats? What did you get?

1:15:01Judy Lusskin

I thought it was a chicken. I didn't know what I got. I think it was called the chicken mix.

1:15:16Speaker 3

When does Andrea come in?

1:15:44Speaker 8

What a vision you have. You inspire me so much. When I heard you were jumping out of a plane, I'm like, how can I not jump? Judy's going to jump out of a plane.

1:15:53Judy Lusskin

But the wind, the prevailing wind blew it all away.

1:15:56Glenn Singer

Ken wasn't going to do it. I don't care what he says. He was going to chicken out on that.

1:16:00Judy Lusskin

I'm still going to do it. Don't forget, I'm used to being in planes, just not jumping out of them. I have my pilot's license.

1:16:11Speaker 8

Yeah, so this would have been the first time you ever jumped out of a plane?

1:16:14Judy Lusskin

First time I ever jumped out of one, yeah.

1:16:19Speaker 8

Well, you inspired me. Well, I'll tell you.

1:16:23Judy Lusskin

You're with the Golden Knights.

1:16:24Speaker 8

Yeah, that's what, that was.

1:16:27Judy Lusskin

I don't know if I do it from a diving, a skydiving, a hokey, if you know what I mean.

1:16:32Speaker 8

Yeah, that was the difference, I think, for me.

1:16:35Speaker 9

All right, Mayor, good, we're good to go.

1:16:37Speaker 8

Sorry, guys. Thank you for your, thank you for that. You bet.

1:16:42Judy Lusskin

I was really surprised that I was the only one on council.

1:16:45Speaker 7

Good afternoon.

1:16:46Glenn Singer

Thank you for the opportunity. Go on. Speak in the mic, please.

1:16:50 – 1:21:36Speaker 7

Good afternoon. Thank you for the opportunity. We're with 360 Recreation. I'm Tracy, and this is Jennifer Garcia. Jennifer did a lot of the designing, so any input on that, we can ask her what is it as well. We designed the playground specifically for Golden Beach as a beach-inspired destination with two distinct play areas, 2 to 5 and 5 to 12, which you asked for, each thoughtfully tailored to its age group while still feeling like one cohesive experience. The capellan elements include a zip line for dynamic play, cubo playground structure that allows kids to climb from all angles inside outside inside they can reach the slide and go down it a turtle climber a dragonfly shade structure that not only serves as shade but as a visual focal point that enhances the park's identity as well we also included a duo swing that allows the parents and caregivers to engage alongside their child and swing with them while the Shade was a major priority in our design. The two to five pirate ship is covered by a hip shade structure. That's in the two to five area. The main, well, the inclusive spinner and climbing turtle are each covered by dragonfly shade structures. So there's three different shade units on the playground. The main tower, which is in the five to 12 area, includes an integrated roof that provides a shade. And the seating areas in both areas have tables and benches that are covered with canopy shades. that can be adjusted for maximum protection from the sun. Well now, we'll walk you through the presentation and visualize some of the key elements. We used a two-part safety surfing combination of artificial turf and PIP, IPDM rubber. The third image is a play pad that goes underneath the turf. We combine poured-in-place and artificial turf to maximize both safety and long-term value by incorporating two types of safety services in children, not only a benefit for the enhanced fall protection and accessibility, but also experience different textures underfoot, adding another layer of sensory engagement and play value. And we'll go to the next slide here, showing the custom pirate ship, which is a two-to-five unit. It's adapted for accessibility, safety, and inclusive play. creates a vibrant beach-inspired environment that aligns with Golden Beach's character. It supports sensory, parallel, and cooperative play for varied developmental needs. We'll go to the next structure. These are some of the key elements here that I wanted to point out. The bottom right has a canopy table and a bench as well. They look really similar. The roofs can be adjusted for more optimized sun protection. The sea turtle is a climber. And it's quite large. I wanted to point that out. It's almost eight foot wide, three foot tall. So it's not only, you know, it doesn't do it justice on the renderings. It's quite a large item. And then you can see the duet swing with the parent on the top right. And the dragonfly as well, too. You can see from that image the size of this. It's, you know, 12 foot high with a 21 foot wingspan. And there's two of those in the parks, one on each side. And there's another image of the two to five structure showing some of the panels. There's a lot of nautical panels in here that took a lot of design and creativity. And there you can see a lot of the panels there with the nautical designs. And there's another side of the two to five playground showing the swing set with a duet swing set for the parent and child. The ADA accessible swing in the center and a taut seat. There's a good picture of the table that has the canopy top on it as well. Another side of the playground showing a trio panel there that has three different games on it. A whimsical panel, a dump truck game in the center where they can dump the rocks for the kids, go down the maze and a spelling word on the far right. And there's a great image of the other side showing the turtle and also has turtle steps as well too. Again, the turtle is quite large and has off to the side the turtle shell steps. And another overhead showing the different safety surfacing. As you can see, the PIP rubber is under the two to five playground with two different colors.

1:21:36Glenn Singer

The tan's also the EPDM rubber.

1:21:39 – 1:24:44Speaker 7

The green is artificial turf. Give you that more natural look. And we'll move on to the 5 to 12 structure next. It's a custom beach-inspired playground tower. We chose a tower because this area in the 5 to 12 does have some trees back there that probably will not be able to be removed, and the tower will go well there. It features flowing forms, coastal-themed panels, and imaginative climate and exploration elements. It also includes your town logo, and I'll show you where that will go if we're chosen, hopefully. Panel for added community identity. The bottom right there is our Cubo playground, which is a really neat playground. It's new in the market, but it's very cool. The key elements is the zip line, top right. Your custom panel with a town beach logo. The well and octopus wall climbers, and we'll point that out in just a second. They're climbers that are on the playground, and it has a nautical theme, and they're climbers, not just panels. The Cubo Duo Series Playground, which invites dynamic play as kids find ways to explore from all angles. The Easy Spin Inclusive Playground Spinner features a supportive, gentle reclined seat with a comfy rubber seat and slide rails. It's designed for children with limited body control, the support they need to enjoy spinning with ease. And we'll go to the, here's a good shot of the playground. It's a tower and that's a seven foot slide. So it does have a wow factor there. It does go up pretty high. We also included toppers on the post to give it that tropical theme. We'll move on to the next slide there. And there you can see the climbing panels. There's a whale climbing panel. And that's for climbing. It's not just for looks. And it's also to the left as an octopus one just as well too. And you could see to the bottom right there's a boat anchor and above that is where we thought about putting your town logo. Under those panels is also benches inside the playground itself. So it's quite unique. And there's a lighthouse panel there as well too. There's another good look there. You can see the two climbers. The boat anchor, the place where your town logo will go, the entrance into the benches below the decks. There's a spinning chair with a playground in the distance there. And there's the Cubo Playground. This is really unique. You can climb from the outside, the inside. You enter from the, you climb through the, you climb through, enter and climb up the cube where you can slide down the slide or enter through the ladders. There's also custom panels on it as well too. There's another look at it. It's got a, one side of it has a net for climbing as well.

1:24:46Bernard Einstein

What do you call that thing?

1:24:47 – 1:25:55Speaker 7

It's a cubo playground. Cubo Q-B-O. There's an overhead picture of the 5 to 12 showing the zip line, which is one of the key elements and some of the benches and tables and our tower playground. There's a trash receptacle there and it was included on each park and our playground equipment warranty here. I think, you know, we have an exceptional warranty but I think you have that already in the package provided. So we scoot by that and show the dragonfly that'll be in both areas. Again, that was a 12 foot by with a 21 foot wingspan. So it's quite unique. And the structure on the right, that's a hip shade structure. That's what will go over your pirate ship in the two to five area. And there's a 2D drawing. It goes over, you know, the elements of each playground. Sunshade warranty. And then the Zoomerang. We're going to, you know, end with a little video of the Zoomerang Zipline. If you could click on that.

1:25:59 – 1:26:19Speaker 20

The Zoomerang Zipline brings high-flying thrills to the playground with its sturdy and speedy track-style design. Kids can launch securely from the ramp, then ride the rubber seat across and back again, either seated or standing. Available in 40, 50, and 60-foot lengths, Zoom Ring will have kids lining up for more.

1:26:21 – 1:27:02Speaker 7

That's it. Other than one thing I wanted to bring up really quick was the child capacity. The child capacity on the two to five and this is true play value. There's no added to it There's 61 users for the playground area The play I mean not the area itself the for the playground the area itself is estimated at 91 kids Could be there playing at one time the 5 to 12 area has a 79 users is what we've come up with on that, and that's true users. Overall, it's 120 for that area, for the 5 to 12 area. And we appreciate the opportunity. Thank you.

1:27:02 – 1:27:28Speaker 9

Mayor, if I could ask the first question, because I see that you highlighted that zip line. So we used to have a zip feature in our park area. that we had to get rid of almost right away because of the salt air environment, it wouldn't slide at all. It was a constant nightmare. So if we chose not to go with that zip area, what would be an alternative to that zip area? Because it just doesn't function in this type of an environment.

1:27:29 – 1:27:47Speaker 7

It's fully encased in it and what it has inside being encasement is skate is high-end skateboard wheels Rollerblade wheels. I'm sorry rollerblade wheels, but we certainly could Suggest other items because we we have a lot of other neat neat features as well to expand on the playground Okay

1:27:55Speaker 8

Ours was a different technology.

1:27:57Glenn Singer

Our technology, it's changed a lot.

1:28:01Speaker 8

You remember it, right? Ours didn't have the skateboard wheels.

1:28:05 – 1:28:54Speaker 7

Yeah, it's enclosed for more protection now. And these high-end bushes and wheels, it's built for the coastal area. And it does come, you know, everything here does have the extra primer on it as well, too. I didn't bring up that. So it has two coats for primer. The painting as well, too, for the Florida area. Conditions and the tables and benches have that same thing as well tables and benches can be painted to match the playground It's pretty unique for you know with that as well, too So and it also comes with the coating the primer coating as well, too I'm gonna open up question vice mayor, please just The five to twelve Park has no swings, correct? Correct. It does not have any swings But they can swing on the zipline

1:28:55Judy Lusskin

It can, you said?

1:28:57 – 1:29:20Speaker 7

The zip line, that could be considered a swing. But, yeah, that may be an option, too, if you want to change out the zip line. You certainly could put belt swings there. But take in mind, they do take up a lot of room. The swings are double the height, front and back. So an eight-foot swing would be 16 in front, 16 in back, and six on the side. So a swing just eats up so much of your playroom. It's just, you know.

1:29:21Jessie Mendal

And the smaller kids' playground only has three swings, right?

1:29:25 – 1:29:42Speaker 7

It has three swings, it does. It has the ADA swing, the tot swing, and the duet swing. You can't share another bay with that duet swing. And the ADA can sit next to the tot swing, but you could not put a belt swing in there.

1:29:42Speaker 8

That doesn't meet code.

1:29:45Jessie Mendal

Our park now when the kids are there, there's always they're always using the swings there Are they somebody there on the belt swings as well, too?

1:29:52 – 1:30:37Speaker 7

But we cannot we could certainly add a another bay over there with a belt swing or Have one over here at it as well too because five to twelve has some room to grow it does there's more than the five to twelve area than the two to five, but we certainly could add a A belt swing on those swings another thing that I didn't bring up they they include anti-swing wrap mechanisms So for vandalism some kids would throw the belts over the top or take the ad a chair over the top These will not do that. There's an anti, you know It's a counterbalance weight that keeps it from going over the top rail scoring up your top rail and damaging your equipment That's also There as well No, no questions councilman Bernstein

1:30:40 – 1:30:54Speaker 8

I really liked your dragonfly and the shade structure. I was a little confused, though. You showed it for a second. You were going to put a canopy on top of the dragonfly or on the five? That was on the two- to five-year-old, the red canopy you showed.

1:30:54Speaker 7

The only shade structure is over the pirate ship itself. That's a 30-by-35 hip shade structure, which is the red one that I showed you. Can you go back to that slide? Is that?

1:31:05 – 1:31:17Speaker 9

But there's nothing there's no like feature on the 5 to 12 correct, there's no sim there is a sim, okay Go back to that slide the time the time is it right go back.

1:31:17Speaker 8

I think it was towards the end. Was it? Yeah, it was toward the end Oh, there it is.

1:31:22 – 1:31:41Speaker 7

Okay. It's almost to the end there. It shows a dragonfly in the hip structure. And the reason that's a hip structure, it's got a, there you go, there's a frame inside the shade itself that gives you more support than a loose flying fabric that will blow in the wind and tear and get holes. I'm just unclear, what is this?

1:31:41Speaker 8

On the red structure. For the red, what is the red portion of it?

1:31:45Speaker 7

The red is just the fabric. That can be changed to any color.

1:31:48Glenn Singer

What's it over?

1:31:50Speaker 7

It's over the two-to-five pirate ship structure.

1:31:52Glenn Singer

So does that two-to-five structure, I want to see the inside of that.

1:31:59Speaker 7

There you go.

1:32:00Bernard Einstein

Approximately what square footage? What's the perimeter?

1:32:03Speaker 7

30 by 35. 30 by 35.

1:32:07Glenn Singer

The tower that you have, how high is that?

1:32:11Speaker 7

The first deck is seven foot. The slide is seven foot.

1:32:14Glenn Singer

That one, that tower with the slide.

1:32:17Speaker 7

Yeah, that deck at the bottom is seven foot. So it goes up another.

1:32:20Glenn Singer

No, the other one, the big one. That's higher than seven feet.

1:32:23Speaker 7

Oh, just the slide is at seven foot. It goes up 15 foot. The tower is 15 feet? So going back to that, Jim.

1:32:32Speaker 8

15 foot, yeah, okay. So the red canopy only goes over the two to five and only dragonflies are over...

1:32:39 – 1:33:00Speaker 15

One of the dragonflies is gonna go over the turtle and the step Stones and then the other one on the 5 to 12 will be over the easy spinner Over the I'm sure these spinner on the 5 to 12 I think what council and I the birdseed and I are trying to figure out is in the 5 to 12 area Okay, so let's focus on the 5 to 12.

1:33:00Speaker 9

Is there any shade structure that encompasses a large swath of area?

1:33:06 – 1:33:41Speaker 7

The shade that is in the 5 to 12 area is the roof that's on the tower. The canopy tables, the canopy bench, the dragonfly that has the long wingspan. So that's the only shade. There's no other shade than that. You're seeing the two on the corners there. The dragonfly will go. See the chair in the center? It will go in that brown area there. It's a cantilever dragonfly that stands up and cantilevers over with a wingspan of approximately 21 foot. Oh, so the dragonfly's in the middle. Yeah, in the middle. Now, we could place that anywhere you would like for aesthetics.

1:33:41Speaker 8

And just to just, I know you gave the dimensions, but does that cover roughly half of that?

1:33:49 – 1:34:01Speaker 7

It would cover over half that circle there. Okay. That's there. It is 12 foot high. Now... If you would like it. Go back to the, yeah. What we have done on shades.

1:34:01Speaker 8

I'm sorry, so the dragonfly would cover that entire circle and cover more? Or just that circle?

1:34:07 – 1:34:18Speaker 7

I believe that circle is 12 foot wide, so it'll be larger than that. Usually the radius on the Springer, you know, the fall zone is 12 to 15, so it should cover that entire area there. Okay.

1:34:18Glenn Singer

Okay. Councilman Einstein?

1:34:20 – 1:34:37Bernard Einstein

Yeah, real quick. You talked about the zip lines coming in different lengths. What length are you proposing on this one? 40. 40. It comes to 60, though, too, right? Yes, it does. Okay, so on a 40, approximate cost on that? We can get it from the bid sheet, I assume.

1:34:37 – 1:34:49Speaker 7

Yeah. We'll have to supply you that because that's jumping up two more sizes, but you do have room to expand for sure if you really like the zip line to make it larger, more. But how much is the 40 one?

1:34:49Bernard Einstein

Oh, how much is it? Approximately.

1:34:51Speaker 3

Oh, you can come back. You can find it. I just got the question.

1:34:54 – 1:35:23Bernard Einstein

Okay. Just for councils, when we finalize everything, swings are big. You don't want to wait around for your kid to, you know, screaming and hollering, wanting to use the swing. When there's waiting lists, you can attest to that. There can be a lineup, your two-year-old, three-year-old. I want to swing, and the parents are trying to jostle the thing. So three swings aren't going to make it. That's not going to do it. You're just never going to make it.

1:35:23Speaker 7

So that's 40-foot long.

1:35:26 – 1:35:37Bernard Einstein

Just so when we... Yeah, you have enough room for... Park benches, what do you have here figured in your bid? How many places to sit down are...

1:35:37 – 1:35:54Speaker 7

There's a canopy table and a canopy bench there for sitting down. Now, there's more benches underneath the playground itself for kids to sit on, but there's two different separate areas for family to sit at. So there's two benches, basically. There's one table, one bench in each area. That's it? That's it.

1:35:54Bernard Einstein

Okay. Another thing we need to consider is benches. That could be an add-on or whatever, but benches are people need to sit somewhere.

1:36:04Speaker 7

That would actually reduce the cost quite a bit if you went to the swing set instead of the zipline. How much was it? $24,000 for the zipline. For our 40-footer. 40-footer.

1:36:14Speaker 8

Okay. And the zipline was how much? $24,000. I'm sorry, so the swings are less than the $24,000? Yes. Okay. Significantly.

1:36:23Bernard Einstein

Do we have any ladder features where they go across? It's hard to see from the illustration.

1:36:28 – 1:36:40Speaker 7

There is some climbing on the 5 to 12 on two different playgrounds there. On the Cubo has climbing. That one, you can see it there to the left of the slide. And the playground has several climbers on it.

1:36:40Bernard Einstein

That cuby thing that you were showing before, you had a kid sitting in the middle of it and a kid climbing over him and it was an opening.

1:36:49Speaker 7

There's a place to go inside of it.

1:36:51Bernard Einstein

What happens if that kid falls down on top of that?

1:36:54Speaker 7

It's all angled. Every so many inches of it's angled to protect them so they can't fall just straight down.

1:37:00Bernard Einstein

Can you back up one more where you have the cubes?

1:37:02Speaker 7

Yeah, you can see the only entrance is on the bottom right.

1:37:08Bernard Einstein

I mean, I like the cubes. It's hard to tell.

1:37:13Speaker 7

Can't fall very far there. On the nets is what's built that way.

1:37:19 – 1:37:40Bernard Einstein

There's a kid climbing on one No, no, no, no No No, I don't see any kids now there was a kid call it is that it the cubo corner Want to keep it moving sorry I

1:37:45Speaker 1

Any other public comments? Yes?

1:38:21Speaker 22

We certainly can do that.

1:38:23 – 1:38:41Speaker 7

Certainly do that. And the child parent swing can be added on either side if you wanted one for both sides. You know, if you have, you know, if you have older children and your younger children want to be on that side, we can certainly add, you know, three base swing with one of those as well.

1:38:41Speaker 22

Three slides. And there is.

1:38:54 – 1:39:20Speaker 7

Okay, there is three slides there currently. We certainly can do enclosed tunnel slides, but we found that with the tunnel slides that You get a lot of, especially in the beach area, vagrants hiding and doing things. The parent can't see the kid in the slide. Right.

1:39:23 – 1:39:35Speaker 22

So some slides in the parks, they have half clear. So they have closed, clear too, and closed. Yeah, one section will have a clear. Yes. Nobody's stuck there, nobody.

1:39:36Glenn Singer

Right. Thank you, guys. Great. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate your presentation. Thank you. Appreciate it.

1:39:41Speaker 7

We can adapt to anything you need. So we'd be more than glad to revise it. You guys have a good day.

1:39:47Bernard Einstein

Zip line. It was a rope I saw, right?

1:39:50Speaker 7

Is there a post? It's a rope in a seat. It is.

1:39:54Bernard Einstein

Oh, it's a rope in a seat. You don't have like hangers where they...

1:39:58 – 1:40:18Speaker 7

No, it's a rope in the seat where they can stand on it or sit on it. It is at an angle where you don't have to go all the way to the other end and bring it back either. Once you make it to the other end, the kid can come back this way. The old school ones you have to go down and grab the rope, bring it all the way back because it's an angle slanted. This one's not. Thank you. I appreciate it.

1:40:18Speaker 3

You have a good day.

1:40:28 – 1:41:19Speaker 9

Mayor and Council, while we wait for the next presenter, one of the things that I was thinking we were going to do with whichever vendor we decide to move forward with, whatever they allocated for trash bins and benches, we're going to take that as a credit because we have a stylistic look for the park. that we already worked with landscape forums. And so we have a design for benches that we want to keep the park to be consistent. So what will and clearly we would add more. By the way, we already made the decision to go away from that wood and metal that we put by the pickleball. It fades too quickly. We're probably going to go back to the traditional benches that we've had in North Park and South Park that been there for 12 years, 15 years and not a single issue with them. And even though they're black, they don't get hot. So we're thinking about just having one consistent furniture look throughout the park. So know that we're going to take that as a credit to us, and then we supply it.

1:41:20Glenn Singer

Next vendor, please. They're coming. They're coming.

1:41:22Speaker 9

I'm just filling time.

1:41:29Glenn Singer

Good afternoon.

1:41:30Speaker 1

Good afternoon. How are you?

1:41:31Glenn Singer

Thank you for coming.

1:41:33Glenn Singer

Just want to remind you, you have 10 minutes.

1:41:35Speaker 9

Okay, Miracle South Florida. You're our current playground. Yeah, okay, all right So just before the record miracle is our is the current playground that we have in Turtle Park. Oh

1:41:46 – 1:49:21Speaker 1

Oh, it is. At Tweedle Park, yes. It's been there for about 30 years. It feels that way. Yeah, so, of course. Well, my name is Connie Brown, and I am the owner of Miracle of South Florida. We are the South Florida agent for Miracle Recreation. So we bid this directly as a manufacturer, so through Miracle Recreation. And the design that I put together for you guys is, you can go to the next screen, is I wanted to base it on an ocean aquatic ship theme. So the concept basically, this is the five to 12 playground. This side, looking from this view over here on the right hand side, it's showing some of the rock sculptures and the basic ship bow portion of it at the front. So if you flip the screen This shows the overall plan view. And what I did on this one, because I was able to look up your permit from when we did some improvements in 2018. And we installed a shade systems, a 35 by 35 foot shade structure for you guys. And it's still under warranty. We did inspections and we can do a refurbishing, repaint and reinforce the welds. It's again, the frame is, it's a 20 year warranty. Your fabric has a 10-year warranty. It's still under warranty. Included in my proposal is to replace the fabric, reinforce the welds, repowder coat in the field, the shade, and I designed everything around the existing shade. I also kept all of your trees. We love natural shade. I thought it went really well with the whole concept of the playground structure itself. keeping with the natural theme as well so if you look over on this side of the main structure you can see the concept and you'll see when the next screens are as if the ship were were in trouble and it was like rocky waters and then you hit the rocks. And so if you go to the next screen, sorry, one more. Again, sorry, I'm trying to get through here. So there's two rock sculptures. So those would be climbers that would get off so that you hit the rocks and then there's a whale that comes up and says hi. These are actual GFRP and GFRC. The GFRP is a polymer material and it has texture in it so the kids have good grip on it. It has a 10-year warranty on those sculptures and structures. It's something different that you don't typically see in a playground, especially in South Florida. Children don't get to climb on rocks and have that experience typically in the South Florida playground. The one water rock there that you see the closest one to us that has a tunnel system underneath it as well. So it's like a cave. This is an actual installation showing that same rock sculpture in a similar type playground to see the scale of it and how nice it looks really in person. It's kind of hard to tell in a rendering. This is also another version that both playgrounds do have the handicap transfer stations that are also those sculptures. The canoe is included in the two to five playground as well. So we also included the safety surfacing half of it. This is a 10 spin that's also included in the 5 to 12 playground. The overall surfacing for the playground for the 5 to 12 area, half of it is poured in place and there would be a concrete curb surrounding the entire playground. There would also be a concrete curb that separates the engineered wood fiber, which is a mulch material from the port in place. So you would have a division, but there wouldn't be concrete exposed in the center of it. It would be a smooth transition. This will also keep the root system from your existing trees from causing an issue with your port in place, because that's something that does happen when you have trees, especially well-established ones like you do in that particular area. So the next we'll go to the two to five area. What we did is did an integrated shade on this structure. We tried to mimic as far as a design is concerned and a smaller scale for a ship theme. So you can see the the panels and the ship bow. It's a double-decker, so there's play value underneath the structure as well, as opposed to the elevated platforms. And we did an integrated shade, which is 30 foot by 30 foot. Also an integrated shade on the swing structure, which gives you just under 1,500 square feet of shade in the two to five area. All of the poured-in-place surfacing includes the entire area, including a concrete curb containment around the whole entire outside, which is handicap accessible 100%. It's over 4,000 square feet, so there's just poured-in-place. So we didn't have a root system. It's a new site, so we wouldn't be worried about that as far as longevity is concerned. A lot of site furnishings, plenty of places for families and children to be able to sit around and enjoy the space. many different occasions. We also included the sculptures on this one as well in the two to five range, so everything is age appropriate. IPMA certified and handicap accessible. It's showing patterns as far as different color changes, so that's completely up to you, so if you wanted to make changes. This is also showing a GFRP, which is the polymer resin sculptures, which are Vibrant and colorful if you can pick your colors so any of the colors can be changed to mimic whatever you'd like To show as far as that's concerned So there's also a canoe and so this is like the the floor is lava so they could go from the canoe to the rocks and then Transition right over to the whale tail or we could call it a mermaid tail The kids like to use their imagination. So that's that's a fun different way, but we can also change the patterns I did this as though it was the ocean and there's sand around it and then there's some grassy area as far as a color change in the port in place. There's another one here. There's a music station that's also included. So this is actually tuned music component. So the children, if children have any music ability, they can play the piano or play the drums. These components actually do work well together as far as a music station is concerned. Again, it's positioned in an area where families and caregivers can be centrally located around it to watch all the children play. The next one, this just shows another view, which includes the same theme concept of the ship, the transfer station, which is where you would transfer from a wheelchair onto the structure itself, which is the GFRC. So that's the molded concrete with fiberglass reinforcement. It's painted 10 year warranty. They are indestructible in South Florida. That's my favorite product to be able to go to. They are very well received in the field in South Florida. These are pictures showing the actual, that's the transfer station on the left-hand side. So that is on both structures. That is a wheelchair accessible transfer point, which looks like a rock and a tree and very colorful. And then the right-hand side is the whale. So you can see the scale next to a child, which would be about four or five years old. And that has the grip on it also. So it's a surface that makes it easy for children to grip on. And then there's across the back of it for them to hold on to. I'm sorry? Is that a killer whale? It's a blue whale. It's a blue whale. And then colors are, you know, we can definitely show different color options if you want it to look different. This shows a picture example of another playground that has the music station, just so you can see as far as scale is concerned, the children actually playing on the music stations.

1:49:23Speaker 1

That particular one, I'm not sure. I just pulled it out of the gallery, so it may not be in South Florida. We have them all over.

1:49:31Speaker 9

But would that be in the 2 to 5 or in the 5 to 12?

1:49:33Speaker 1

It's in the 2 to 5. That one's in the 2 to 5, sure.

1:49:35Bernard Einstein

It's the amount of swings.

1:49:41 – 1:50:27Speaker 1

And do I have any more slides? Okay, here, I just wanted to do a breakdown just so, because I separated them on the proposal when I submitted it originally, but the overall budget changed to 700, so this is the breakdown. In the 5 to 12 area, there is just under $400,000 worth of actual equipment, manufactured equipment. Two to five area, just over 300,000. The combined material value is over $400,000 in a $700,000 budget. Miracle Recreation chipped in a 28% discount, which is $115,000 off the material cost, which was how we were able to give you so much equipment for $700,000 and still include port-in-place surfacing. So that pretty much covers.

1:50:27 – 1:50:52Speaker 9

Sure. So I love the the creativeness is trying to keep the existing shade structure because I was sharing with the council that it is relatively new, but we are raising the elevation there. So and it's only like, I believe, three feet, three foot elevation change. OK, we're going to go consistent with the tennis courts. So I'm not sure what the grading is, but would that play a factor in that decision?

1:50:52 – 1:51:08Speaker 1

It would not to say that we can't make it work because we do have all of your engineering. And if the, well, the building department is probably going to want us to, to re-permit that I would assume because it would, they would have to come out of the ground and then be raised. So that would definitely play a factor.

1:51:08Speaker 9

Or could we fill some of the basin? Is there enough head space? I guess my question is, is there enough headroom for what you're proposing?

1:51:14 – 1:51:53Speaker 1

I would have to reevaluate that two feet. Yes, I know. But three feet, that would be on the, on the verge of where I'm not sure without having without checking. It's probably less than three because that's so we're going we're gonna filter to the second steps of the pavilion But we'll talk about that, but it can certainly yeah look into that I always didn't get real aggressive because your shade was much taller than it needed to be It's a 14-foot Eve. It only needed to be 12. So I knew I had two feet to play with Okay, so if it's more than two feet, we would certainly have to look into that Is there more room for more swings I There is, well, something would have to go. So in the five...

1:51:54Speaker 9

In which play area? Two to five? In the two to five.

1:51:56 – 1:52:10Speaker 1

Oh, in the two to five. Yes, because there is the music stations, I spread them out. They don't require a fall zone, so we could certainly turn the angle of the swings and add more.

1:52:12Speaker 8

So yes, there is room. Can you show the swings?

1:52:17Speaker 1

It would be the plan view of the two to five.

1:52:19Jessie Mendal

Their park has actually lasted well.

1:52:21Glenn Singer

Yeah, no, I know. The park's been great. Councilwoman Luskin?

1:52:25Judy Lusskin

We wouldn't have to lose anything to put the swings in, right?

1:52:29 – 1:52:41Speaker 1

No, I would just shift. The freestanding music stations don't require fall zones, which is the six-foot space that you have to fall. It wouldn't be too crowded. No, no, no. You'd have plenty of room. I spread them out because you had the room.

1:52:42Glenn Singer

Slide the five to seven, the other age group, just real quick. but now we're gonna have two play areas. That's where the dolphin and everything is in the open?

1:52:51Speaker 1

Yeah, so on the slides, there's one, two, three, four, five. So there's six slides on that structure on the five to 12. Okay. And the decks.

1:53:02 – 1:53:15Speaker 8

I really love the music stations. With the swings, I'm sorry, I'm just confused how many we actually have and where they're located. I saw the slide, but they're in the two to five.

1:53:15Speaker 1

They're both. Both areas have swings.

1:53:19Speaker 9

All right, that's the 5 to 12, and that looks like it has four sets there. So there's four sets in the 5 to 12?

1:53:25 – 1:53:36Speaker 1

In the 5 to 12, there is a multi-user swing, which is very popular right now. If you don't like that, then we can change that to two more belt seats. But there's two belt seats and a multi-user in the 5 to 12.

1:53:37Speaker 8

And one of the features that the city manager had said, which I love, is those – The spinning ones? Is that something that you have also that you can offer?

1:53:47 – 1:54:06Speaker 1

The spinners are on there. There's two different kinds. So on the 5 to 12, there's a 10-spin, this one. That's a handicap accessible spinner. So children can transfer from a wheelchair. They can sit or stand. And then also there's the Maypole, which is the overhead spinner. So the children reach up, and it's on the 5 to 12. They reach up and hold, and that spins around as well.

1:54:07Speaker 8

They don't do any longer the ones where you would run around and jump on the... The ones that go around, do those exist anymore?

1:54:12Speaker 1

You can, but now there's governors on it because nobody wants to be sued. So, yeah, we still make them.

1:54:19Speaker 8

And it doesn't matter if we wanted to change the color or anything? Colors. Color doesn't matter.

1:54:23 – 1:54:34Speaker 1

Anything's interchangeable, so that makes it fun, too. So if you want more swings but less of something else or you want to shift things around, that's certainly open. Okay.

1:54:34Glenn Singer

Councilman Einstein?

1:54:35Bernard Einstein

So what you demonstrated here... You showed that whale. Are all these items included or are some of these pictures showing representative stuff that we could have?

1:54:46Speaker 1

Everything's included.

1:54:47Bernard Einstein

Okay. So all the music, you showed the other park with the musical instruments that you did. Can you go back to that?

1:54:56Speaker 1

Yeah, no, that was just an image showing the children actually using it.

1:54:59Bernard Einstein

Are we getting all of those musical instruments?

1:55:02Speaker 1

No, you're getting the musical instruments that are on the design that was proposed.

1:55:05Bernard Einstein

What are we getting?

1:55:07 – 1:55:28Speaker 1

the musical instruments that are on design, so. In that picture, right? No, not in that picture, on the design. So you're getting the cabasses, which are the rainmaker. There's three of those. You're getting the bongos and you're getting the chimes. And then there's also what's called a tongue drum. So there's one, two, three, there's four. So if you like, for example, there's the chimes on there.

1:55:28Speaker 20

That is the...

1:55:31 – 1:55:46Speaker 1

The stand-up one, if you like the xylophone more than the chimes, and we can swap them out. They're all about the same value. I like chimes. So we're not getting the... That's not included in this design, no. In our old park. You do. That's why I didn't put it here. And is it movable or not? Absolutely.

1:55:46Speaker 9

And it's in really good shape.

1:55:47Bernard Einstein

We can repurpose that.

1:55:48Speaker 1

It's still under warranty. Oh, we can? Yes. Oh, great.

1:55:51Judy Lusskin

It's still under warranty?

1:55:53Speaker 9

We recently added that, like, before COVID. Yeah, the kids like that.

1:55:57Speaker 1

Everything that we installed from 2018 is still under warranty in the little kids park.

1:56:02 – 1:56:24Bernard Einstein

Can you come back to that real quick? Do you have anything is like the little village they stand they look like a vendor and they're selling that is actually included underneath your structure Where would I see that type of thing you think? In the two to five Yes, so all of those are that one. Yeah 15 if we could look at slide 15. No, I'm sorry

1:56:38Speaker 1

Okay, next one. It's the other side. The other side of the bow.

1:56:42Speaker 9

Mayor, you're going to join me Friday night with my five-year-old grandson. You'll become an expert like that.

1:56:48Glenn Singer

Thank you, guys. I'll take you with me. So I stop right there. Any question?

1:56:53 – 1:57:10Speaker 1

So underneath here, if you see behind that, the double wide slide, you'll see the panels below. There is a counter panel and there's a door panel. All of those have bells and... Bing bongs and things that the children, they place store underneath and there's seat, there's benches underneath as well.

1:57:10Bernard Einstein

Would you say that we're getting as much as we have in the old park in this new park?

1:57:16Speaker 1

More. Considerably more.

1:57:20Speaker 8

And it sounds like we have the ability to repurpose most of the stuff that's in there. Some of them. You can.

1:57:25Speaker 1

I didn't. We certainly can.

1:57:27Speaker 8

I mean, the 2018. Yeah.

1:57:30Speaker 1

Anything that was installed in 2018 is still under warranty. We'd be happy to install it for you again at no charge.

1:57:39Speaker 22

She doesn't like it.

1:57:49Glenn Singer

The spring riders? Oh, the horses. I haven't seen those in a while. The spring riders where they rock back and forth. I like those horses.

1:58:05 – 1:58:35Speaker 1

Well, we have on the swings, I don't know if you noticed, it's hard to kind of tell. No, no, no, I understand. But we can certainly have those and we can certainly swap something else out because there's not really a whole lot of room to add anything else without taking something else out. Yes, those are popular. And then also on the swings, just so you know, there is something called a generation swing, which is included. And it's a baby seat where a toddler can sit and then also the baby is in a bucket and they swing together. So it's like a five and a one-year-old can swing together.

1:58:35Bernard Einstein

Is that that thing?

1:58:38Speaker 1

If it's small. So the bucket is for a small child.

1:58:41Bernard Einstein

One last question. Yeah, let him ask.

1:58:49Speaker 1

Yes, we have that too, but something we don't really have a lot of, something would have to go.

1:58:54Speaker 13

It's called a bird's nest swing and that's for babies.

1:58:57 – 1:59:12Speaker 1

So it's for children under two. So we have that available also, but that requires a pretty large fall zone. So you can't have anything next to it so that there's room to swing. So something would have to move out to be able to put that, but we have that.

1:59:12 – 1:59:38Speaker 9

All right. Hold on. Alex, you have a question? Connie, real quick, if budget was an issue. I love the whale. Do you have a larger, taller, bigger animal type feature that we could put as a focal point? The whale feature. Like a larger, I mean, the whales, again, outside of this budget, but could we add a piece that maybe is a tower or something that,

1:59:39Speaker 1

Yes. Now, with focal pieces, see, this is the hard thing, too, and it looks like it's going to work on paper, and when you ask for it, a tower, you can't shade a tower.

1:59:48Speaker 1

So, absolutely, we have towers. I mean, if you have time to look at our website, we have the largest structures of all the manufacturers.

1:59:56Speaker 9

Like a larger whale or an octopus? Yes, you name it, we have it.

1:59:59Speaker 1

We have a gigantic octopus. So if space and budget's not an issue, we have all of that. We have any animal you could possibly imagine, the size that you want.

2:00:09Bernard Einstein

You're welcome. I just want to talk in terms of the materials on the ground.

2:00:13Bernard Einstein

Can you give the background on why you chose not all turf?

2:00:20 – 2:01:16Speaker 1

Turf does not last in South Florida. I have 30 years experience installing playgrounds, only playground equipment and surfacing in South Florida. And turf gets brittle. Even if you have an eight year warranty, eight year warranty is nothing. Port in place has an eight year warranty, too. But turf goes down like carpet. So it comes in rolls just like carpet. So say you're putting wall-to-wall carpet outside in a playground. Every 15 feet, you have a seam. That seam is going to open in two years, and it does. I don't care who puts it down. I don't care what warranty. They're going to blame it on you. If it opens back up, they're going to say, oh, it's too hot. We had difference in the weather. It got too cold or too hot one day, and your seam splits open. The only way to fix a split seam is you cut it, and you put another two seams on either side to fix the seam. We do turf. I don't recommend it for playgrounds because everywhere there's a post or something coming out of the ground, out of the footing, you now have to cut this turf again and make it fit around the post and then glue it back together again. And that's a weak point.

2:01:16Bernard Einstein

So within this budget, you could have chose turf.

2:01:18 – 2:01:29Speaker 1

I could have, but did not because you would hate it. I don't have a single customer that's happy with turf in 30 years. I've replaced so many turf playgrounds.

2:01:30Speaker 8

So this is synthetic grass or what's that?

2:01:34 – 2:02:07Speaker 1

What's under there is poured in place. It is a rubber surface. So you have that at Tweedle Park, but this is put down where you've got a concrete curb to adhere to. When you're doing a transition from poured in place to mulch, the right way to do it is to have a solid concrete curb because there is a rock drainage system that goes underneath it. So you have four inches of rock compacted. Then you have your two to three inches of rubber, depending on the fall height, that goes on top of that. And then it has to adhere to a concrete curb around the outside edge. And that keeps it from pulling up over time.

2:02:08Speaker 8

Is the compaction what's under our guys, right?

2:02:13Speaker 8

The compaction you're talking about, that was under our requirement, right? That wasn't part of the scope.

2:02:17Speaker 1

No, that's us.

2:02:21Bernard Einstein

Thank you so much.

2:02:21Speaker 1

If there's any, I'm sorry.

2:02:22Bernard Einstein

Any playground similarities anywhere nearby that we could look at?

2:02:26Speaker 1

To this specific one?

2:02:31Speaker 1

Yes, I'm sure. I'd have to find it. Thank you.

2:02:36Speaker 8

Thank you so much. I'm sorry, your name again?

2:02:38Speaker 1

Connie Brown.

2:02:39Speaker 8

Connie, thank you. What a miracle.

2:02:40Speaker 1

Thank you. Thank you, Connie Brown. Thank you for the time.

2:02:43Speaker 8

Great presentation. Thank you.

2:02:56 – 2:03:18Glenn Singer

Next one, please. Can you pick up the pace? 215 timeline, what's that?

2:03:18Speaker 9

We have three presenters left So we should be well within that 215 timeline that we gave each other is someone coming in They're being escorted in this weekend.

2:03:26Bernard Einstein

Can I give you my grandkids for one hour? I

2:03:29Speaker 9

I'll give you mine for five minutes.

2:03:32Speaker 9

I'll give you mine for five minutes.

2:03:34Judy Lusskin

I might give you mine for two weeks.

2:03:37Speaker 9

Five minutes. I'll give you mine for five minutes.

2:03:40Bernard Einstein

I don't know if you could do it. The challenge. The mayor challenge.

2:03:48Glenn Singer

Dominica. I just want to reiterate what I tell everyone. We have ten minutes, so...

2:03:54Speaker 16

Absolutely. Good morning. Good afternoon.

2:03:57Glenn Singer

Welcome. And just speak into the mic so everyone could hear you.

2:04:01 – 2:06:50Speaker 16

All right. My name is Natalia. I represent Domenico Recreation Products. Our company is Game Time. And we represent Golden Beach to discuss a little bit of the dine. So if we can just start out a little bit about the design process. The owner, Dominica Recreation, Rob Dominica, designed this project. I'm the territory manager. Normally, my way of going about with cities, Aventuras, Sanias, the three countries, is that I sit down and I go through measuring, designing, needs assessment, what's important to you, and then we cater the presentation to that. Normally, 95% of all the cities work with me with the Omnia contract. In this case, this is a bid. So these usually go directly to the owner, who is ASTM, IPMA, on the board, all of that, and then he designs it. So I'm basically representing his design. Normally I represent my own when I do direct contact with the directors, okay? Great. So, sorry, I'm a little out of breath because I was talking away there with everybody else. Our basis of design for all of our game time layouts has always been one of inclusion because PlayCore, which is our mother umbrella company for game time, has always been able to use evidence-based design layouts. So every playground that is designed by Rob Dominica is a very thoughtful process of making sure circulation, inclusivity, kids with all ages and abilities are able to enjoy, whether it's a two to five, a five to 12, and accommodating all of the basic, we were trademarked, the original trademark of original based evidence, seven principles of design. So in every playground, we try to incorporate not only play value, but we don't sell equipment. We're trying to sell a whole story for the community to ensure that play value is maximized using core, using sensory, cognitive, and we're very known for our inclusion. So for this design, the Aventus Tower is the only tower in the market today that has a 12-foot tower open, already enclosed with airflow, but where a child can transfer from a platform and go all the way up to the 12 feet using the SureGrip belt. That allows every child with any age of ability to go through different sections of the tower in order to have a play pocket space, sensory engagement. Go again.

2:06:50Glenn Singer

Is that what we're looking at now? That picture?

2:06:52Speaker 16

No, this, sorry. Oh, we're going to follow the renders because I don't have access to show you.

2:06:57Glenn Singer

She'll tell you, just tell her. Oh, okay. I need to see what you're talking about.

2:07:01 – 2:08:07Speaker 16

Well, let's follow, if you want to follow, this is a two to five. This is a two to five area where we're always going to include, you know, ADA accessibility as every other playground does. But our designs follow a story of entry and exit. So any child at any age can have accessibility through a mobility device to play with ground level activities and then to enter the transfer platform through the slide. This is already the five to 12 areas. So the Aventis Tower is the big tower in the back. And that was designed again with the thought in mind to make sure every shade cover, everything is shade cover because we know the importance of shade South Florida. I will never try to design any playground without shade as well. because of the need for kids to feel that they can continue to do repeated movements in the playground without having the fatigue. Our shade coverage is in the swings. You can see it's on the three-bay swing where you're always going to want to put two buckets, two belts, and zero gravity to meet every child age group in there.

2:08:07Bernard Einstein

Is this 5 to 12 we're looking at?

2:08:08Speaker 16

This is the 5 to 12.

2:08:10 – 2:15:33Speaker 16

So it's got three bays with integrated shade. All of our sunblocks, canopies are of the highest quality because of the way that they're sewn, the way that they also have cable on the perimeters. It avoids 97% of the UV rays. And so we take very much pride in that our shade fabric is very powerful. It doesn't mold, and it doesn't absorb water. So they maintain their quality for a long time. Also, if game time ever needs to have them replaced for any reason, it's just a shade fabric. We can always do those with our shades. Then we also have the fun zip track, which is a flagship also in the industry, at least in my cities. They don't stop not coming to our parks because of that zip track there. So we figured it was a very nice way to attract to Golden Beach the opportunity for kids to use their core, slide down, And they're all steel, so it's very low maintenance on the bearings and everything for your park crew to manage that. The other advantage of our design, this is our biggest one, I would say, is that all of our equipment is durable technology where they're pre-drilled at the factory, so you're avoiding a lot of maintenance issues when you have to have other vendors who deal with clamps and having to rotate, and still they can come down, slip, and also cause some kind of you know, disturbance to the surfacing. Well, ours are bolt, direct bolt, like a bridge. They come, the installers come, plug and play, and you're avoiding a lot of rust because now if they mess up on drilling a hole to put hardware or anything, we have 80% less hardware needed for maintenance to have to keep tightening everything, and it's all steel hardware, so you're using a lot less hardware for a lot more security, and these things do not come out. So all of our design is based with direct bolt technology, which is a much more modern aesthetic look as well. You don't see the clamps as you see on all the other uprights. It's a very clean line. It's modern and it's durable for decades to come. Our replacements hold up very good value from 15 to 20 years. So this one goes back to the two to five. It's a transfer. transfer platform for wheelchair accessibility. And again, the story is that you start from the playground and then you walk out, you exit through the slide, and the story goes with spinning, with imaginative play, with creative play, and then circle back. So you're allowing that use zone, six feet of use zone, for kids also to be able to move around, play around, because they just don't want to just keep sliding, but they want to have the kind of ability and flexibility to move around within a shaded space. So the two to five is a sale for post shade, completely covered. So we believe that two to five kids need that, especially if they're sensory and the fatigue and all of that shade is very, very important. You can go to the next slide. This is one of the freestanding components. Crawling is very important as part of their developmental progression. There's a driver's panel on the boat. Imaginative play is very curious for kids and they stay in those believe it or not Sometimes even longer than the actual playground systems is what we observe. So these are new product lines that we've included in the design Okay This is another area view of the two to five playground area with the with a zip side As you see entry points and exit points with climbers and slides in between the shade system and activity sensory play panels all across and ground levels. Keep going to, yeah. So with the integrated shades in this design, there's the two to five has shade with integrated. So in the two to five, you're going to have two bucket seats for the toddlers and you're going to have two belt seats for the five to 12. They need to be compatible. I did notice that there's a bucket seat and a belt seat and the shade down here right now. They need to be compatible by age groups so that there's no interaction between kids, you know, lesser kids running into the older kids, so you separate it by the bay. And so we're very careful about all of that design to ensure that every age group is accommodating and respectful of the other age groups. So this is another angle from our integrated shade. We have here the whole composite structure where we've provided shade On the actual playground system, the tower itself is built and designed in a way where you have the punch steel decks and platforms that provide airflow so that unlike many other vendor towers, they're closed in, families cannot see, you know, the parents can't see their kids, but while they're in there, they're covered under shade, but the airflow is flowing through, so it minimizes heat temperatures. These shades also provide 20 degrees of, you know, lowers temperatures 20 degrees. And we meet all IPMA ASTM certification for like over 60 years now we've been in business doing. So any problems with permitting and everything, we have all the paperwork to back up our design and our specs. The whole reward of this slide in the, it's called the Aventus Tower. It is the first one in the industry. So this is our wow factor. When we want to say our wow factor is it's a complete, inclusive playground. No other playground. You know, we talk about inclusivity where kids in wheelchairs, the max value that they can play is go downstairs, you know, on the ground levels, go maybe a little bit up the transfer and slide down to a three-foot deck. This one is 12 feet high. A child can scoot, crawl, use the short grips. and stop and play in between, you know, they want to rest, with play pockets and sensory gadgets all the way to the top. The reward for kids and every age group and every ability is to reach to the top and then do the grand slam slide down to a delta sweep slide, which is open wide and much safer in its design than a regular narrow slide. Let's see, I don't know if you had any other questions, but we feel, as you, that trade is very important. We also have, if we are awarded, we also have what we call our national demonstration site, where it gives the opportunity to show your investment to Golden Beach by designing it with maybe a balance beam because we have to meet all criteria for it to become a national demonstration site. And this gives you all the ability to have a QR code at the entrance sign where people are giving their feedback on motion, time spent, et cetera. The reviews go to social media after 50 scans, and it validates the investment that you've made in your company. So it all, yeah.

2:15:33Glenn Singer

Thank you. We've got to stick to our 10 minutes. I'm going to ask any questions. Vice Mayor?

2:15:40Jessie Mendal

I'm actually looking at your catalog. Can you replace the small pieces, the standalone pieces, with other pieces?

2:15:49 – 2:16:28Speaker 16

Absolutely. Absolutely. This is usually where I come in, you know, as a professional to say, okay, what kind of pieces would you like? And if we can fit it within the time, the space allowable for each of the components, as long as they fit, we can also adjust the design so we make sure that the use zones are covered. So anything in blue like that, as long as we can put freestanding, so you wanna whirl, you wanna anything like that, we can adjust all of those designs on the outside too. Or even take that zip track out if that's not something that you like, we can always put something else or exciting that would be in your liking. That's the custom touch.

2:16:31Judy Lusskin

Judy? This is all rubber flooring, correct?

2:16:35 – 2:17:17Speaker 16

Yeah, we choose rubber flooring. We find it better to low maintenance because simple green is a great product that can be used to clean with a fresh broom. And we also feel like the drop test and everything, we meet all the criteria. We find it to be safer, more accessible. When kids are playing, it's not something that lifts off the ground like wood fiber or even turf that can provide static and electricity to the kids. I personally like PIP we call it PIP poor driver the best because game time also has a good maintenance service of Copping should there be patches as you see all over the parks? We can retop and make them look brand new after 1824 months. It's a low maintenance.

2:17:18 – 2:17:30Speaker 8

Thank you Councilman Bernstein No, I like I like a lot of the equipment but no other questions real quickly the zipline how long is that I

2:17:31Speaker 16

It's a 50-foot, 50-foot zip line.

2:17:34Bernard Einstein

It goes one way, and then you get on.

2:17:36Speaker 16

It slows, yeah, and then you get on.

2:17:38Bernard Einstein

What happens if you go halfway?

2:17:40Speaker 16

It'll try to take you to the way down, but it's a whole core and upper body exercise.

2:17:46 – 2:18:05Bernard Einstein

The layout as you see it, it looks like a puzzle on the ground. There might be a special name for it, the swirl, yeah, that thing there. you're using those colors. Is that a add-on if you go with that kind of cutout or is that included?

2:18:06Speaker 16

This design you can put any design you'd like if you want to put turtles if you want to put you know that we're gonna just Include it or okay.

2:18:13 – 2:18:35Bernard Einstein

They just pour it. So so when you're in the Wellness Center, we're looking down on this. I mean that might be a feature to think about absolutely I mean, it's gonna be covered in some spots. No, you'll see it You'll see it'll be interesting if something was like that 1000% the tower feature seems very you have one picture that towered a big picture and

2:18:35Speaker 16

Come back to power. Yeah.

2:18:39Speaker 16

We showed case that at our F.R.P.A.

2:18:41Bernard Einstein

Can an adult go up with a child on that tower?

2:18:45Bernard Einstein

And accompanied a child.

2:18:46Speaker 16

Yes. It was part of our F.R.P.A. All the directors were going up and down that.

2:18:51Speaker 15

Yeah, it's very sturdy.

2:18:52Speaker 16

It's very rigid that that sure grip for allowed to for the kids to scoot up all the way to very rigid. And it's a.

2:18:58Bernard Einstein

And a slide comes off that, and it goes to the bridge, I think, right?

2:19:02 – 2:19:26Speaker 16

And it's modular. So you can change. If you don't want that slide, we could put a different climb or things like that. So all of our design is based on finding links and designing per parts. So everything can be rearranged and say, take this slide out or put this climber in. Game Time is known for whatever climber you desire. If you like 30 other different ones, pick the one that you like and we'll try to accommodate and link together.

2:19:26Bernard Einstein

Little Kids Park, did you have musical instruments incorporated?

2:19:30Speaker 16

Yes, we have three-flower musical instruments that do all different harmony sounds.

2:19:34Bernard Einstein

And is there like a little village type of thing or interactive game where they do letters in that little... Yeah, so you have the apple tree panels, they have the shade panel.

2:19:42Speaker 16

We can change those panels to letters if you want sound or music. You know, we've got all...

2:19:47Bernard Einstein

Thank you very much for your time.

2:19:48 – 2:20:51Speaker 9

Of course. Thank you. One last question. I will share this from both when you submitted the first time and this time. This has been on my upper of the selection. I love the lack of fall features, but I do have a big concern that I weren't satisfied today. If you could put the panels back up. Not that, the panels of this presentation. All of those openings in all the panels, it seems like I have a five-year-old grandson. If he sticks his hand in there, could he get cut? Can he get stuck? Because there's a lot of areas where you could put your foot through, your arm through. And so I love the fact that it's solid panels with cutouts so you can't fall out of it. But my concern is, are those areas that are pinch points? And can somebody's little arm? And again, I've loved this. Designed from the very beginning, but I'm concerned with all of these openings that someone's arm can get stuck in there or can get cut And so I need that satisfied today in order for me to feel comfortable with with this presentation Is that included in this price the coastal package

2:21:00 – 2:21:15Speaker 16

I think it's not. It is an add-on item that if you'd like to include, because I do see in the comment section it's noted there. Okay. But for Village, for Hallandale and everything, we've been doing a lot of Miami Beach and Sun Yachts.

2:21:15Glenn Singer

What's the coastal package?

2:21:17 – 2:21:33Speaker 16

So it's an extra level of protection. You get more service if there's any kind of rust that would be on the punch steel decks and everything. But it is fully compliant for fingers. has to be tested for years before they go on to the market with the new equipment.

2:21:33Speaker 9

So if a child were to stick their hand in those areas, they wouldn't, no pinch points?

2:21:36Speaker 16

It has to be, and especially in installation, everything has to pass permitting that no child can be, you know, head entrapments or finger entrapments or anything.

2:21:45Speaker 9

Yeah, because one of my favorite thing about this is all the panels, but I'm so concerned with all those openings that they could become.

2:21:51Bernard Einstein

Because the kids stick their hands everywhere.

2:21:54Speaker 16

Well, kids like to go on top and drop themselves out. but we had that question for one of our towers and the game time can provide to you.

2:22:04Glenn Singer

Looks pretty narrow. I don't think they could fit that.

2:22:06Speaker 16

They can provide a compliant letter that during the product development stage that every single aspect of every component was compliant.

2:22:16Speaker 8

Thank you. How much additionally is the coastal package?

2:22:20 – 2:22:38Speaker 16

Here it says that it's 33,000 and worth every penny. I'll be honest. And then you get more years of service Regardless, you're going to have your discrepancies, let's say, if a panel or something starts to wear. Game time is wonderful for sending it to us and then replacing it.

2:22:39Speaker 16

Okay. Thank you. Nice meeting you all.

2:22:44Speaker 9

As we bring up the next presenter.

2:22:53Speaker 3

Can I take a water?

2:22:54 – 2:23:33Speaker 9

Yes, one, please. 1,000%. Take two. So as the next presenter is coming over, so to Councilman Einstein's point, from the wellness center, you will be able to see, especially the up to five-year-old playground. So we could look at creating art in the parks in order to what you see on the screen here. This is a basketball court next to my house where I live today. It's an American Legion park. So we could, if we decided to go with like a rubberized area, come up with a pattern that while you're working out, you see the... Pattern in the ground so that that is something that we will be cognizant of as we go. Thank you Thank you, Alex.

2:23:34Judy Lusskin

We're waiting when you talked about the zipliner Not being conducive to Golden Beach.

2:23:41Speaker 9

It's just the one that we had before it never ever but ever work And it was I didn't install it metal was like metal on metal.

2:23:50Speaker 8

Yeah, it was metal.

2:23:51Speaker 9

It was kind of weird Yeah, but now it's plastic.

2:23:53Speaker 8

I don't know how these skateboard wheels would work, but it sounds like it sounds better

2:23:59 – 2:24:14Glenn Singer

Good I just want to tell you as I told everyone else we have ten minutes Perfect perfect.

2:24:14 – 2:32:53Speaker 2

All right. Here we go. Hi everyone. Good afternoon. My name is Christina. I'm the project manager for South Florida and Thank you again for the opportunity to be here today. I'm very excited to present this design to you all. I've been very closely involved with the design and will remain the point of contact if this project gets selected, so you'll be working with me. Let me go to the next one. Okay, perfect. So I want to just go back just a little bit to explain a little bit about the design approach here. I think it's very important to discuss. So when I first learned about the opportunity of this project, I took a closer look at the town of Golden Beach and it became very clear to me that I wanted to provide something that was different, truly unique and exciting, and something that reflects the surroundings. Having the coastline just across the street, we wanted to do a playground that compliments that type of environment. We also wanted to use a manufacturer that had an outstanding quality and that would survive the beach environment. With that in mind, we are proposing a beach-themed playground featuring a combination of two of our manufacturers, Berliner and Playworld. Berliner will serve as the standout feature, the wow factor in both the two to five and the five to 12, offering a unique rope-based structure. A fun fact about Berliner is that they're a German manufacturer. They've produced a rope and cable for 160 years. It's the envy of the industry with so many of their spatial Nets that are still operation even after 40 years of being in the in the playground Right now there's no equal and it's unlike any other playground rope that you probably have seen The corrosion resistant coating double thick powder coat extensive use of high quality stainless steel gives this playground a unique look and longevity as You look at the overall design you'll notice the central Berlin or rope structure when you zoom in which is that one and You'll see a custom combination of the Wagga Wagga, which is the square one on the right, and the Greenville Combi, the one on the left. Connected, they form one large dynamic play experience. What makes the structure so special is that there's no prescribed path. Children are simply not, children are not simply climbing up the steps, crawling over to the decks, going down the slide, and, you know, doing a do-over. This gives them the – they encourage the children to explore different paths and create their own routes and engage in an open-ended play. This is a – well, one second. Well, this is a tremendous benefit, having rope structure, because, one, it develops their cognitive and problem-thinking skills. It enhances their physical strength and coordination and promotes social interaction and teamwork. Those are three elements that I feel that kids nowadays really do need and can benefit from. So it keeps them all engaged and provides these benefits. We can go back one more. Okay. On this side, you'll see a view of the inside of the Wagga Wagga. This is one of my favorites because it highlights the multiple rope levels and elevations. To put this into perspective, this structure reaches nearly 21 feet high, about the height of a two-story house. However, because of the flexible rope design, the critical fall height here is only six feet. So imagine being a child climbing up 21 feet in the air on a rope structure. That's kind of exciting and memorable, even I think as an adult. Adjacent to that, we can go to the next. Adjacent to that is the combi structure, which you see over here. And adjacent size, the combi structure, it also features an internal rope elements in the inside, multiple climbing access points, as you can see, the bridge, the hammock. These structures, again, provide much more benefits than just the physical activity. These structures are built to build confidence, encourage risk assessment, teamwork, you know, things that you can't normally have in a traditional playground when traditional playgrounds offer such a structure way of playing. and basically tell the kids the right way to play. From an aesthetic standpoint, you'll notice the beach-themed panels and the palm tree toppers. We wanted to go beyond the standard playground post and incorporate designs, elements that reflect the surrounding environments, creating a cohesive and immersive experience. One more. Right here. Okay, so behind the rope structure, you'll find the two bay swing set on the right. As playground experts, we understand the importance of swings. They are the number one request we nearly get on every design that we do. While the space can sometimes be limitation, that was not the case in this one. And so giving the ample room that we had available, including the swings was not only appropriate, it was essential to have. In the five to 12 area, you can stay on this one for a little bit. In the five to 12 area, the swings features four belt seats. And then in the two to five area that we'll later see, we see a variety of options for toddlers, ADA, and a swing along seat that's designed for children and a child and a caregiver to use together. This is going to support inclusivity and intergenerational play. One second. Incorporating motion play was also very important in this design. We added the Playroads Turf Twister, which is seen in the middle with the two kids over there. This allows up to six children to play together, encouraging cooperation as they work together to spin the structure. We also added a corner here of music. It provides sensory, creative play opportunities. It supports auditory stimulation and fine gross motor skills. Moving on to the 2 to 5, you'll see the smaller beach scene combi structure with multiple climbing options. There is the ladders, the rope, a platform, a hammock is also featured. And we kept the same cohesive aesthetics that are from the 5 to 12 onto the 2 to 5 as well with the beach panels and the palm tree toppers. Additional elements were also included. Next. Well, this is the two to five swing set that I was referring to with the toddler seats, the ADA, and the swing along. And additional elements that we added here was the spring rider, a partially open garden crawl tunnel that has activities inside and outside to allow multiple kids to play. And finally, we've included the Cozy Cocoon, which is, while it still functions as a spinner, it also serves as an important purpose for like a quiet and enclosed space where a child, particularly that one that's on the spectrum, can go in and decompress if they become overstimulated. This reinforces our commitment to inclusive play. Overall, oh, well, the site plans. I have also here in the presentation a few of the site plans that we have in the next ones. Here we go. Showing the layout that we're using compared to, like, the entire area. This is for the big 5 to 12. And then we have the 2 to 5. And then more right here. This is the overall picture. Next. Okay, so overall we believe that this design delivers an elevated play experience, something that feels different, unique, extraordinary, rather than just an ordinary playground. We did not feel that adding shade right now was worth the sacrifice, sacrificing the quality or the design on this project. We wanted to make sure that the quality withstands the coastal environments and would not be a maintenance issue in the future. This is where Berliner meets and exceeds those expectations. Berliner is one of the two approved vendors for the state of Hawaii school district. And I can assure you that the other vendors that have and have not presented here yet are not the other one. Thank you again for your time.

2:32:55Jessie Mendal

I'll take any questions.

2:32:56Glenn Singer

Okay, start with Vice Mayor.

2:32:58Jessie Mendal

Your design is adorable.

2:32:59Speaker 2

Thank you. Nice design. I worked a lot on it too, like with our designer. Okay.

2:33:04 – 2:33:24Jessie Mendal

But my question is, there's a lot of open spaces. Right. Is there any way to close them off? Because that bridge, it's just totally open. The climb up on the, once you climb up on the ropes, it's totally open. Like, is there any way to close these spaces off so the kids don't?

2:33:24 – 2:33:54Speaker 2

You mean so that way they don't fall? Well, I mean, that's part of the whole rope structure where they're supposed to feel that risk that they're going through. adding more equipment in the surroundings. I know in the two to five area, we were very limited with the underground stuff and where we were placing each equipment and the footers that were going to be needed for that. And then as far as adding more equipment on the five to 12, you know, we just wanted to keep, I was very adamant in trying to keep Berliner as the manufacturer here.

2:33:55Jessie Mendal

But it's not equipment. I'm saying like, can you put ropes on the bridge on the side so that the kids don't fall off? Can you put rope like something on the landing on the top so that the kids don't jump off?

2:34:05 – 2:34:21Speaker 2

We can do that. Yeah. Adding additional rope around. Yeah. There are some that are more enclosed. I don't know if you've seen the park at Bayshore. It's the new one. It's all Berliner. They have these kind of like tunnels, but they're all net and they go from one structure to the other. So, yeah, it could be added.

2:34:22 – 2:34:48Judy Lusskin

This picture. No, go back. The picture of the bridge. Go back. The rope bridge. I agree with Council Member Mendel. It's also high. Yeah. And it's so open that... Go back to that picture. To me, if a child falls off of that, it's going to be problematic. I still don't see the picture.

2:34:49Speaker 2

Right. It's that one with the mat at the bottom. The girl in the orange is... One more. This one, no?

2:34:57 – 2:35:13Judy Lusskin

One more. One more. No, no, the way it's the first it's the it was that I think it was the first or second one you showed from the very beginning. There it is. Yeah, that was that's high. That's high and that to me that's too exposed. Okay.

2:35:13Speaker 8

Well, you could probably put another rope in the middle or something.

2:35:17Judy Lusskin

That or we can enclose it. I would need something because I imagine that was meant to wobble also. Yeah. I think I'm a landing.

2:35:24Bernard Einstein

So remember, this is five to 12.

2:35:28Bernard Einstein

I feel like 5 to 12 years old kid right.

2:35:32Glenn Singer

Anything Councilman Bernstein.

2:35:35 – 2:35:52Speaker 8

Before you showed up. The equipment that I saw in the in a lot of the other projects you did I thought was like my favorite of everything at the one in Clementine Park, oh yeah. I was there were these in the same budget areas these I think I meant it was 2 million OK so these are a lot more.

2:35:52Speaker 2

These are smaller municipalities over there.

2:35:56 – 2:36:08Speaker 8

There are so many that I guess were a lot more. That one was big. I really love the equipment you guys have. I didn't see any shade, though. Is there any shade at all?

2:36:09Speaker 2

For this one or for Clemente?

2:36:10Speaker 8

For this one.

2:36:11 – 2:36:29Speaker 2

For this one, no. Like I said, when we looked at the cost of what we were going to add into shade, it was going to take away a lot of the equipment that we wanted to put. We could add the shade, but we would have to swap off the Berlin or maybe for something more traditional that kind of looks like probably any other playground that you see.

2:36:29Speaker 8

And on the floor, it looks like a lot of these, it might be grass or I'm not sure.

2:36:35Speaker 2

Turf. This is synthetic turf. So it has the impact attenuation layer. It's a sub base and then the foam and then the turf on top of it.

2:36:45Speaker 8

And so on the inside, you would have turf and then on the outside of it is you would have on the areas that's not directly in there. What was this stuff?

2:36:55Speaker 2

The whole area that's on the site plan that we marked has the synthetic turf. Everything is turf.

2:37:03Glenn Singer

Thank you. Councilman Einstein.

2:37:05Bernard Einstein

Real quickly, when I look at this right here, this Buffered as concrete or whatever it is.

2:37:11 – 2:37:24Speaker 2

So on the design, it's not listed, but it is it's like a plastic border. Yeah, border. And it's specifically designed for synthetic turf because it outlines each layer that it needs.

2:37:25Speaker 2

Yes, that's included.

2:37:26Bernard Einstein

And so that turf there looks like it's a little high. It looks like it's. You know, is that I know you probably got a.

2:37:35Speaker 2

No, this, yeah, I wouldn't.

2:37:37Speaker 9

Yeah, it's just a rendering. That's just a rendering. It's short.

2:37:40Speaker 2

It's usually short. I mean, I would have brought samples of it, but yeah, it's usually short.

2:37:49Glenn Singer

Thank you. Councilman, thank you so much.

2:37:52Bernard Einstein

I really appreciate it. Public.

2:37:54Glenn Singer

Public, any question? Nope. She raises her hand. Thank you so much. Thank you so much.

2:37:59Glenn Singer

Have a good day. Thank you for your time.

2:38:02Speaker 9

All right, we have one more presenter. Which is going to be ARC.

2:38:10Glenn Singer

Is someone going to get it? They're on their way. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

2:38:15Jessie Mendal

It's going to be hard.

2:38:18Glenn Singer

We'll go through our three favorites. Alex, what I'm going to do after this, I'm going to ask everyone their three favorite, and then we'll narrow it down. Okay.

2:38:31 – 2:39:12Speaker 9

In the meantime, while we're waiting for the next presenter, I'd just like to remind the council, if you haven't stopped by my office to look at the design palette for, this is more specifically for Councilman Bernstein. So if you have, for any council member who has not stopped by my office to see the design colors that have been selected for the Wellness Center, I invite you to do so. Also remind the council that I need your feedback on gym equipment prior to Thursday's deadline for agenda to go out. and final furniture will be presented at the Tuesday council meeting. I'll make this announcement again once everyone takes attention. At this point, we'll have Advanced Recreational Concepts, LLC, who's our final presenter. Always save the best for last, I guess.

2:39:12Glenn Singer

Hello, guys. Thank you. Where do you need us?

2:39:15Speaker 6

Right there. Welcome.

2:39:22Glenn Singer

As I, to reiterate one more time, as I told everyone, you have 10 minutes total, so.

2:39:32Speaker 17

Okay, where can we? What would you like?

2:39:37Glenn Singer

The set? Oh, okay.

2:39:38 – 2:39:55Speaker 17

Okay, no. No? The rendering? Rendering and video? No. The site plan? No. Can you see the video? Yep.

2:39:55Glenn Singer

You have to speak into the mic.

2:40:10 – 2:40:22Speaker 17

Okay. Continue. Yes. Cancel. Yeah. Okay. Slideshow. Slideshow.

2:40:24Speaker 17

Oh, no, image, image gallery. Let's see the images.

2:40:29 – 2:40:45Speaker 17

Okay, pass this image. Okay, let me see the, pass that. Okay. Okay, the design was done based on the latest available.

2:40:45Glenn Singer

Yeah, speak into that.

2:40:48 – 2:41:39Speaker 17

Okay, the design was done based on the latest available site plan provided by the city. We have two parts. This part is the playground for big kids, five to 12 years old. And the other part is for the kids two to five years old. Can we see any images? Does the video used to give you an idea of that? No. No. I'm going to explain you the site. No. No. Okay. No. No. Okay. No. No, no, these images, let me see. Okay, no, no.

2:41:39Speaker 3

Did you want the images or the slideshow?

2:41:47 – 2:44:01Speaker 6

My name's Paul. I'm with the project management team. Nina's our designer. And I'm here to help answer any questions as it relates to installation, warranty, and service. That's my role here today if given the time is to discuss our service component of our company. I also own and operate the company as well. Very hands-on operator. I'm going to be boots on the ground with our install team. We will not be subcontracting out your work. It will be my guys. that are on site, all background checked, properly identified, fingerprinted, all that good stuff. We do a lot of business with government, including the school districts. But they're all my guys, and I'll be overseeing every detail of the installation process. from site work to installation practices, right down to certifying the playground as being safe and compliant as well. Also, CPSI, Tri-X certified for safety surfacing, licensed contractor, BS in construction management as well. Do you have any questions about installation practices, service, warranty? We offer a non-pro-rated warranty, which means that if you have any warranty issues with your playground, it will be replaced for free and it will be installed for free. You won't even pay freight on it. We talk about the total cost of ownership. What you're paying for your playground shouldn't be something that you're constantly budgeting for to keep your playground up and running. We offer a really good warranty that comes with a really good service package as well. Again, non-prorated, which means that if you have a part that fails, we replace that part for free, we ship it for free, we install it for free, and it gets a brand new warranty. So if your playground is 10 years old, That part gets replaced and the warranty starts on day one, all over again.

2:44:05 – 2:49:48Speaker 17

Okay, that's the site plan. So first of all, I'm going to explain the site plan and the main components to the proposal was the shaded structures, safety surfacing, and all the playground equipment that was designed. The playground design and the proposal was split into two areas. The areas in front of the wellness center was the area for the kids two to five, and the other area in front of the court is for the kids five to 12. The proposal, safety surfacing for both playground was EWF and the system is gonna be concrete curb with EWF and for the both areas. One of the most important thing here, it was to primarily shade both playground components. So as a designer, I incorporate shaded structures in a sail design. So we can play that with different heights and also two canopies that make movement and also two colors that make contrast with the design. In the big meeting, it was so high pointed, the shaded structure. So in the swing areas, my proposal, it is for an integrated shaded structures for the swing area. This one is primarily the layout, so safety surfacing, shaded structure, and the main components. The design was done based on the latest available landscaping plan provided by the city and all of the vision was to allow or to integrate a great design but with the city of the Golden Beach character. That's why we use sails and also the pantry stopper to make like a coastal environmental. For me and for the design was so important, the color palette. We wanted to dare with a different color palette, not just the typical teal, blue, white. So that's why we dare to use like a color palette in beige, green, making contrast and a great, you know, color palette balance for that. Okay, the second, okay, the top view. This one is the layout and the top view, the second one. Okay, let's explain first the playground for big kids. We have swing area. And the vision is of the old playground design proposal is to meet with all the specification that the city provide in the bid and also to make a great design to give to the town of Golden Beach a great play experience. So in this area for big kids, we have swing structures. shaded with swings. We have spinners, our wow factor slide drums and the main component and Mary goes around. Also we have two benches that allows adult supervision and trash resectable. In the second one, even though when they are separate areas, the design, the intention of the design is to be cohesive in both area. And all the equipment that was integrated there, it was for appropriate age. So in the second one, Youngest kids, we have also swings, spin, max go around, ladder, and the playground main component. Can we go with the other one? Okay. And then you're going to pause. Okay, this one is the playground main freestanding component for the youngest kids. It is an integration of slides, climbers, stepping that allow kids, you know, a dynamic play experience. Also with the design for the coastal environment. If you see there, we have pieces like a croco, the toppers of the pantries, and different component that allows opportunity for all the kids with any abilities. This one is the main component for the biggest kids. So we have stepping, climbing, different point of actions. Also, we have panels, a sensorial and cognitive panels that allows kids for solving problems, sensorial activities. We have different... Like heights, difference, you know, like a curve slides and stepping for, you know, activities. If you see, you can see the shaded structures. You can see both canopies shading that main component. Okay, you can pass that. Okay, that's the big kid. You can pass that. Okay, that's another view of the playground for two to five. You can pass that. Okay.

2:49:50 – 2:51:23Speaker 6

One thing I want to share with you here in the last few seconds is when you're comparing specifications to specifications, I think you're going to find that this is the highest quality manufactured system that you can buy in the United States. What that means to you, the tradeoff there is a lower maintenance solution. Higher quality manufacturing such as robotic welds, 11 mils of powder coat, All are preventative maintenance things that automatically come. Some people will charge you a coastal package. You're going to get six mils with that. Our standard offering is 11 mils of powder coat. And again, what that means to you is a more durable coating. The trade-off is lower maintenance. This is a very low maintenance playground system, low maintenance manufacturer that we represent with Playcraft Systems, which is why I can talk so strongly about our warranty, why I can talk about total cost of ownership, and why we're in a position to be able to offer you the ability to come and put parts on for free. When you have a warranty in the quality of manufacturing like play craft systems, you're able to offer those type of service warranties in in exchange. I truly believe out of everybody that you talk to specification for specification. You're now looking at the highest quality made playground system in the market right now and it's 100%.

2:51:24Glenn Singer

Let me ask some questions. Start with you, Vice Mayor. Do you have any questions?

2:51:29Jessie Mendal

How high is the playground from two to five? It looks very high.

2:51:34Speaker 17

No, have like a 48 inches, 36 inches, and 24 inches. That's for the big kids. That's the big kids. No, I saw the big kids. That one. 72, 72, and 96.

2:51:44Jessie Mendal

That's the big one also for the little ones.

2:51:49 – 2:52:22Speaker 17

Yes. This one, particularly this one, is our wow. One of the main components, wow factors. It is a slide, mount slide. that we incorporate because allow kids rolling, sliding, and climbing in the same fissure. And that allows, it's a very unique pre-standing playground equipment that allow kids dynamic play and also the fact to explore different slopes and levels.

2:52:22Speaker 6

The two to five should be 60 inches or less than that design.

2:52:26Speaker 6

Yeah, nothing higher than 60. And I think it's coming in at 48.

2:52:32Judy Lusskin

And we have 48 and 60. Is 60 the standard number?

2:52:37Speaker 6

60 inches or less would qualify as a two to five playground. I'm pretty sure our two to five was 48 inches and less.

2:52:48Speaker 8

How did the kids get up to the slide? Hold on. Oh, I'm sorry. Keep it in order.

2:52:54Judy Lusskin

Just to be clear, it's two separate areas, correct? Correct. Correct.

2:53:00Glenn Singer

Do you want him to show you an error?

2:53:03Glenn Singer

I'm sorry. Go on, Councilman Bernstein.

2:53:05Speaker 8

Just to get to the slide, this is the 2 to 5. How do the kids get up there?

2:53:11Speaker 6

I believe that's the 5 to 12.

2:53:15Speaker 17

No, this, yes.

2:53:16Speaker 6

Yeah, that's the 5 to 12.

2:53:17Speaker 8

Which is the 2 to 5?

2:53:22Judy Lusskin

Yeah, there's the letter.

2:53:24 – 2:53:37Speaker 17

This one is in regard to Judy. In regard to your question, these are separate two areas. The area in front of the Wellness Center is 2 to 5, and the other is 5 to 12.

2:53:37Glenn Singer

He would like to see the 2 to 5 playground. Can you show him?

2:53:40Speaker 6

And can you speak to access on the 2 to 5 also?

2:53:44Speaker 8

This is the only thing I really saw on the 2 to 5.

2:53:46Glenn Singer

Where's the 2 to 5 playground?

2:53:50Speaker 17

This one, no, this one is five to 12. This one is five to 12. This one is two to five. In the swing area, we have buckets.

2:53:58Speaker 6

Okay, can we see the playground? Can we see the two to five playground, please?

2:54:01 – 2:54:14Speaker 17

This is the two to five playground. This is the two. Horizontal ladder, 60 inches taller. Spin go around that allows multiple users. And this one, it is on the playground component.

2:54:15Speaker 6

Do we have another view of the two to five? We should have another view in here.

2:54:18 – 2:54:56Speaker 17

Yes, yes, yes. Let's move back. Yes. No. No. No. This one is two to five. Maybe it looks very high because of the angle What's the ground cover on the two to five EWF for both.

2:54:57Speaker 9

What is it? EWF. The rubber. The rubber.

2:54:59Speaker 17

The engineered wood fiber.

2:55:01Speaker 9

Oh, it's wood fiber.

2:55:03Speaker 17

Engineered wood fiber.

2:55:05Speaker 8

Wood chips? I'm sorry. Going back to my question, on the two to five, how do you access getting up to that slide? I just can't. It's a ladder. It's a ladder for the two to five?

2:55:14Speaker 6

There's a vertical ladder.

2:55:16Speaker 17

Vertical ladder.

2:55:17Speaker 8

On the other side.

2:55:18Speaker 17

Yeah, we have a lot of access points for that.

2:55:22 – 2:55:38Speaker 9

Mayor, if I may real quick, because I misspoke and now I need clarity. So those are individual manufactured chips that are laid in that area. Are they loose? Is it rubber or is it like a synthetic wood?

2:55:38Speaker 6

It's an engineered wood.

2:55:40Speaker 9

It's like mulch.

2:55:41Speaker 6

Mulch, but it's a playground engineered wood fiber. Okay.

2:55:47Glenn Singer

Councilman Byrne, we offer. We offer.

2:55:50Speaker 8

I still don't see my question, which is how do they access on here?

2:55:55Speaker 6

I don't know if we have a view. It's probably.

2:55:58Speaker 7

Yeah, it's not that we're not trying to.

2:56:00Speaker 6

I can't see a slide.

2:56:01Speaker 7

Look at the platform.

2:56:01Speaker 17

Look at the platform at the back. We have the platform. We have the climber. And all the playgrounds have an access point.

2:56:13Speaker 8

It looks huge. It doesn't look like for a five-year-old.

2:56:17Bernard Einstein

I don't know why. It's not steps?

2:56:21 – 2:56:32Speaker 17

No, we can access to the platform. Are there other pictures? I'll lift you.

2:56:32Speaker 8

Let me ask my questions. Jeez. What's that?

2:56:34Speaker 17

He wants to cut me off. I'm trying to keep it going. It's 2 o'clock.

2:56:44Glenn Singer

Any other question, Councilman Bernstein?

2:56:47 – 2:57:02Speaker 8

So with the canopy, do you have full coverage over both of them with the canopies? Yes. Okay. All right, I have no other questions.

2:57:03Glenn Singer

Councilman Einstein?

2:57:06 – 2:57:18Bernard Einstein

Just a real quick question. Do you offer a zip line? Is that a product you have? Yes, we do. Uh-huh. And would that be, how much is your typical zip line?

2:57:18Speaker 6

It depends on the length of it. Let's just say starting at 18,000. Uh-huh.

2:57:23Bernard Einstein

And would that be about 40 feet, 60 feet?

2:57:30Speaker 6

Oh, there you go.

2:57:31Speaker 17

Kenneth, in regard to your question, and I know you, before your question, look at the platform.

2:57:49 – 2:58:05Speaker 8

And those are two slides to the right of that yes, and then you and then you go through a tunnel As an option, that's one way you could go ahead and approach the other area Can I ask a question when the mulch gets wet what happens to it?

2:58:07Speaker 6

Is it slippery?

2:58:07Glenn Singer

Does the water get absorbed? It perks right into the ground.

2:58:12Speaker 9

Does it get mildewy or slippery?

2:58:14Glenn Singer

No, no, not at all. But it's basically mulch. Kids can put it in their mouth?

2:58:22 – 2:58:42Speaker 6

Yeah. It's an engineered product, so it has rounded edges. It can only be chipped to a certain particulate size. It's 88, yeah. Is it flavored? Only if you want it to be.

2:58:43Judy Lusskin

It's going to be more maybe. Hold on, go on.

2:58:45Speaker 6

We do offer multiple options for safety surfacing. We can do the engine.

2:58:49Bernard Einstein

Beaver Creek in Colorado?

2:58:52Bernard Einstein

Because they had that similar surface.

2:58:54 – 2:59:54Speaker 9

Go on. Mayor, I just want to share with the council and with the presenter. So from both presentations, so when they submitted it originally and this one, I found this presentation to be this company to be the one that kind of incorporated a little bit of every company. So if you notice throughout, and I know that it's been a little bit chaotic because of the over here, our ability to show slides, but it has ropes, it has spinners, it has climbers. And so I want to be fair to the presentation. This is probably the most comprehensive shade of all the presenters today. If you notice, all of the major play equipments does have shade. The only area that I have some concern with is that mulch feature because it's very loose. But I love the color palette. I love the variety of slides. And again, this is the only company, and you'll see through my screen, I have hearts everywhere because there's a lot of stuff that other elements were missing. So I just wanted to give that feedback as a release to this company.

2:59:54Speaker 6

And we can offer the bonded and poured in place and the loose fill rubber solutions.

2:59:59Speaker 9

What would be the difference in price for something like that?

3:00:03Speaker 6

Considerable.

3:00:06Speaker 17

We did two submittals. Yes. The first submittal.

3:00:09Speaker 9

What's the port and place?

3:00:11 – 3:00:49Speaker 17

They actually have . Yeah, no we have it. I have the rendering for that. The first submittal when the budget was a million, the safety surfacing system was PIP because in the playground 5 to 12, we have existing PIP. So we can use the base, repairing the base. So the first approach to the project was PIP surfacing. Yes. That was the first approach. What's the price difference on that?

3:00:51Glenn Singer

You're saying substantial? It's less. Is it like $300,000? Less money. No, it's more money. Less money. It's a lot more money.

3:00:57Speaker 17

It's more money. More. It's a lot more. A lot more money. A lot more money. It's a lot more money.

3:01:02Speaker 6

They're looking at about $24, $25 a square foot for a port in place surface.

3:01:09Glenn Singer

You're talking about $200,000?

3:01:10Speaker 6

How many square feet we have? So it could be. Yes.

3:01:20Glenn Singer

Okay. Thank you, guys. Thank you. Fair in time. Very good presentation. Thank you. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

3:01:25Speaker 17

Thank you for everything.

3:01:29Bernard Einstein

So, can I just ask a quick question? Did they give us that surface so they could give us more equipment?

3:01:37 – 3:01:56Speaker 9

Yeah. Excellent question. Yeah. So, when you swapped out the product, was it a matter of preserving shade or equipment? That's a Nina question. Yeah. So when we decided to go away from the poured in place rubber to the mulch light, was it to save shade or equipment or what would we have sacrificed?

3:01:58 – 3:02:31Speaker 17

I sacrificed, I changed to the EWF for money. When you said you have to go from 1 million to 700,000 I said the the first things I gonna cut This are facing is like a system if I have awf I have a fabric filter concrete curb I need to be with.

3:02:31Speaker 17

But if I have to go with that, we have four inches of rock excavation. The black cushion, black cushion is like.

3:02:41Glenn Singer

No, it makes sense.

3:02:42Speaker 17

And then the color top layer. So that is a lot of work for that. Gotcha.

3:02:49Speaker 9

Thank you. Excellent. Thank you, guys. Thank you.

3:02:53Speaker 17

Thank you. Thank you for everything.

3:02:54 – 3:03:15Glenn Singer

Thank you. Thank you for your time. Guys, what I'm going to ask you to do now, Alex, if it's all right, is real quickly going to go through and I'm going to name my three favorites. And we try to hopefully get three favorite. And then we can go from there.

3:03:17Bernard Einstein

Can you when you say yours or can you pull up?

3:03:20Glenn Singer

No, I don't want to start pulling. Just look at your notes. We'll be here another five hours. Just look at you. That's why I said number them and see where it is.

3:03:28Speaker 8

Can we include with that just our general comments also? I know, but because of that was.

3:03:35 – 3:03:58Glenn Singer

So I'll start with mine. My three favorite and we'll keep a tab. Lisette, if you can keep a tab. I know. Keep a tab of the favorites. I would go with number three, John Bell. number five, Miracles of South Florida, and number six, Dominica Recreation Products.

3:03:59Bernard Einstein

And again, I don't care.

3:04:00Speaker 3

I'm just giving you my favorite. I'll go with any you guys want.

3:04:04Glenn Singer

So mine are three, five, and six. I'll start with you, Vice Mayor.

3:04:11Jessie Mendal

Mine are Florida Recreational Products.

3:04:19Glenn Singer

Whoa, whoa, what number is that? Two. Four. Two. Florida Recreationals, two. Four, five.

3:04:30Speaker 9

Wait, wait. No, Mayor. You said two. She said two, five, and six.

3:04:38Speaker 8

You had Florida Recreational.

3:04:40Glenn Singer

Oh, that's two, four, and six.

3:04:41Jessie Mendal

Right, and Dominica.

3:04:42Glenn Singer

Two, five, and six. Two, five, and six. I was three, five, and six. I'm going to go with Judy Luskin. What's your three favorite?

3:04:49Judy Lusskin

Five, three. And two.

3:04:53Glenn Singer

Five, three, and two. OK, Ken Bernstein.

3:04:59Speaker 8

Can I just, I thought we would have a chance to kind of talk about things that we liked as opposed to just saying that.

3:05:05Glenn Singer

No, just keep it simple, Ken. And then we'll talk about it after. Let's just get three. I know it's hard to make a decision. Ken.

3:05:12 – 3:05:25Speaker 8

I just want to say, because a lot of the components, like I don't necessarily like a lot of the things in here, but I thought maybe we'd have a chance after we get the numbers at least to go through the components we like.

3:05:25Glenn Singer

We can change it, but let's just get to three totals and go from there.

3:05:30Speaker 8

So I like five as my number one, and then two and six.

3:05:40Glenn Singer

Five, two, and six, OK.

3:05:42 – 3:06:06Bernard Einstein

Ben I just don't I got screwed up here. Who was the one who did our part down there miracle? What number? Oh, they were five five five Dominica six And what's your third Bell I

3:06:08 – 3:06:19Speaker 9

John Bell, three. Mayor, based on this straw vote, it seems like Miracle South Florida is the overall favorite, followed by Dominica.

3:06:20 – 3:06:34Glenn Singer

Yeah. So why don't we go from, and to follow up with Ken, because I don't want to leave Ken out, why don't we just focus on five and six, and why don't we say what we like or don't like about them, and you want to add or something. Perfect.

3:06:34Bernard Einstein

You know, so just keep it simple.

3:06:37 – 3:07:07Glenn Singer

Is that all right, Alex? It's whatever the tell like five or six I'm gonna tell you my opinion I'm fine with either of them and I'm fine with either other thing I got nothing to add or do but if you guys have something that you want to add like a To add a would you call that a zip line or something that five or six then or something else? Let's speak now so we can give the town manager direction So I'm gonna start with you vice mayor

3:07:13Jessie Mendal

All of them need more swings that I can tell you, okay Now you pull up five.

3:07:18Bernard Einstein

Can you just pull five up? Thanks Yeah, that'd be a good way could pull up five pull up five just I can't remember all that they incorporate Wow

3:07:33Jessie Mendal

that they said, I like the whale. It gives it a lot.

3:07:37Glenn Singer

Yeah, I love the whale. And I like Alex's idea to get something. A bigger whale. Wow. No, something cool.

3:07:47Speaker 9

The good thing about Miracle is they use that high-density plastic like the fish that we have today, and so I'm sure they could give us a piece that kind of...

3:07:53Glenn Singer

But go through the swings. Go through the other, the little kids. I thought they had a lot of swings.

3:07:57Bernard Einstein

Yeah, I thought they had eight. She said she had eight, I thought.

3:08:00Jessie Mendal

I think they need more swings, and I do like that round swing.

3:08:05Glenn Singer

They have eight swings.

3:08:09Glenn Singer

You want more cowbells? Remember that in Saturday Night Live? Cowbells?

3:08:15Judy Lusskin

Did they have a?

3:08:18Jessie Mendal

No, I think it's cute. I think the separate play structures that they climb on is adorable.

3:08:24Glenn Singer

What would you add? Or you don't like?

3:08:27Judy Lusskin

I have to look through. Judy, do you have anything on them? I don't recall. Did she have a zip liner?

3:08:34Judy Lusskin

That's something that I think our kids would love.

3:08:36Bernard Einstein

Yeah, if you could.

3:08:38Glenn Singer

So do a zip, Alex, find out about a zip liner. My comment was I want something, like you said, the big animal or something to wow. Yeah.

3:08:47 – 3:09:32Speaker 8

right but she she said she could almost give us any right yeah what'd you think ken so the reason i want to start off by talking is i didn't necessarily like miracles um their their presentation the best but i thought at the end of the day we're going to get our most best value from them and so um what i wanted to what i thought would be appropriate is to kind of say things i'd love to see and and maybe hear what everyone else says. I think having a lot of swings, I'm not sure. That's what we're doing. Yeah. So to me, some of the other things I thought that would be nice is, A, first of all, making sure that we have trees. I'd rather put trees in there that give space. That's a separate budget. Well, I'm just as part of the whole thing.

3:09:32Speaker 9

Well, she kept the existing trees. Yeah.

3:09:34 – 3:09:58Speaker 8

She did keep the existing trees. And something I saw that doesn't need to be here, but I saw where Some built like along different cities on walkways. They had the ability to do climbing walls on different places. No one had that. I just want to add a few things, Alex. Rock climbing? It's very cheap just to put little things. It's dangerous, too. For the older kids, just to be able to put it on there.

3:09:58Glenn Singer

Little kids get up the wall if you get it too high.

3:10:00Speaker 9

We have it today. What? We have it today. We have rock climbing today in our park. We do? We have a three-panel rock climbing wall in our park today.

3:10:09Speaker 8

I agree with Ken. I love the chalk idea. Can I get a quick question?

3:10:14Glenn Singer

You know, the rock climbing idea would be pretty cool if he did it on the gym, on like the wall by the gym.

3:10:23Speaker 8

If you go, like on three or four major cities, including Paris, if you go along the river, There's areas where people are just climbing up.

3:10:30 – 3:10:43Glenn Singer

So do it on the wall in the gym. That's a possibility to keep the little kids away. So on the rec center, on the wellness center, maybe on one of the walls, Alex, that faces, we could do a cool one.

3:10:45Bernard Einstein

It's a good idea. Have you been to the Aspen Rec Center? Yeah.

3:10:50Speaker 8

I mean, that's that's a real rock.

3:10:52Bernard Einstein

But I'm just saying the little kids do that.

3:10:54Speaker 8

These were very inexpensive. These were very inexpensive and people were lining up to do it.

3:10:59 – 3:11:16Speaker 8

I love the chalk idea. I love the idea of like a spinning thing where the kids run around. I didn't see any of this, but like one of my favorite things as a kid and my kids loved it was just a simple plank, like a wooden plank. where people would do chicken fights. Yeah, balance bar.

3:11:16Glenn Singer

You could add that. Like a two feet off the ground balance bar.

3:11:22Speaker 8

I didn't see any, and I don't know why, but like the monkey bars, I thought were like such a... No, we're going to have... Alex and I talked about that.

3:11:29Glenn Singer

We're going to have chin-up bars and monkey bars. We have that now.

3:11:32 – 3:12:12Speaker 8

We're working to pull it up now. Okay, and maybe to the... Like, again, I really liked Miracle because I just think we're going to get much more out of them than everybody else. And I think the color scheme, I didn't like that blue, but maybe we all try to come up with a color scheme for everything. I like the blue, but I don't care. We'll work with them. And then I love the idea that someone brought up just of consistent benches, or maybe you were saying that without the city. Correct. So those are my comments. But I think it's hard to not go with Miracle if they're going to repurpose all the different things that they said they could, if they can utilize our canopy system. Because I love number five. I loved...

3:12:14Speaker 8

I love the Playmore West, but they didn't put any shade in it. Right. So the shade is a critical point.

3:12:20Glenn Singer

And the last group was great, but they had no, their ground covering, they kind of cheated us.

3:12:25Speaker 3

That's crappy.

3:12:27Glenn Singer

Ben, what would you like to add?

3:12:29Bernard Einstein

The other thing, Alex, that we talked about yesterday was the, there's that dual swing. What do you call that thing?

3:12:36Speaker 9

The mommy and me, two people swing on it.

3:12:39 – 3:13:11Bernard Einstein

There's a swing that two people can ride on. Oh, yeah. Yeah, like a seesaw. They like, it's a... Yeah. And they have... In terms of the coloring on the flooring, the one that did the little puzzle shape, you know, the one that had more interest, and I think that's going to be a call from the designer, Alex, the mayor, whatever. When you go stand up there and you look down in the canopy and what that floor design is.

3:13:11Glenn Singer

Oh, that was the basketball court.

3:13:13Bernard Einstein

Yeah, but somehow incorporate and say, hey, you know, that would be an interesting type of thing to do if we do it. I mean, it could be too busy.

3:13:24Glenn Singer

We could do it at a later date.

3:13:26Bernard Einstein

But I would think as we're going there.

3:13:28Glenn Singer

No, when we do the basketball court.

3:13:30 – 3:13:41Speaker 9

No, no. But you won't see the basketball court from the wellness center. So what we're specifically referring to, the five-year-old is the area where you'll see the impact of it. Hear you you won't see the basketball court from the wellness. Okay.

3:13:41Glenn Singer

So what is he saying?

3:13:45 – 3:13:56Speaker 9

Is that as you're looking down onto the zero the five-year-old because that floor surface has a pattern that that's The other thing and I don't know if they can incorporate it the last one we saw with those two triangular

3:14:09 – 3:14:21Bernard Einstein

Covers and you know, I know they're thinking of repurposing if they can that unit but those triangular covers Were sort of interesting. Yeah, the sales are sales.

3:14:21 – 3:14:50Glenn Singer

Yeah, yeah the sales the sales looked interesting So town manager so based on everyone's opinion what we're instructing you to do is is to work with Miracles of South Florida, number five. Look for additional, what it's gonna cost to add, correct me if I'm mistaking, some more swings, a zipline, a bigger animal. Wow, what did you say? Oh.

3:14:52 – 3:15:41Speaker 9

Spinners. He wanted spinners. Mayor, I believe there are three elements that were missing from Miracle, and I'd like to just highlight them for the council. So there was no climbing element, so I think that we should... A what? A... I believe our Miracle had some elements that were missing that other designers had. There was no climbing element. So we should definitely explore some kind of climbing. And if you have little kids, you'll see that climbing is important today. There was no hanging elements. So things that kids hang. Ken said. And then, of course, the spinners. But I would recommend that you do two H-type spinners. So there's a spinners for like bucket spinners for the zero to five. And then there's like the what we used to have, the merry-go-round spinners for the five to 12. In addition to that, one thing that I believe Miracle also miss was. Oh, no, you said it. I got it. I got it. You got it.

3:15:41Speaker 8

The monkey bars for these things.

3:15:42Glenn Singer

Yeah, no, we're going to do that. We talked about that anyway.

3:15:46 – 3:16:11Bernard Einstein

Can I throw in one thing? Throw it in. Because we've been talking about people who want to. Possibly contribute or not contribute We don't want them to do it or do it but like on the wow factor on the way a big thing to the sky if you had little bricks on that you know, that they built. Like a donor wall? On the big wow factor thing.

3:16:11 – 3:16:59Speaker 9

I will tell you, I will share this with the council. And the mayor and I spoke about this briefly, very briefly. But one of the things that we are looking to bring back to the park, because we took it out of the park, is some kind of outdoor calisthenics that can have a wow factor. Let's put it on the screen. So we are looking in Miami Beach. It's an art in public place type of calisthenics You'll see here on the screen that we could bring into the park design that gives an element of Wow That but also serves a purpose for for fitness and youth and and you so this is like a monkey bar Rope hanging that white piece is pretty cool. It's pretty it's a big art piece. It's not very expensive We could add it we can integrate it into the corner of the park where you walk in great It's a little bit different, so it doesn't have to be a shark. It could just be something that's beautiful. It looks like an art piece.

3:16:59Speaker 8

Is it just aesthetic or is there a function?

3:17:00 – 3:17:36Speaker 9

Oh, no, there's monkey bars. If you look, there's all kinds of bars. You climb and they put ropes on it. This is in Miami Beach in their fitness park. It's extremely complementary to the building that we have because it looks like a reef. It's beautiful. There's monkey bars. You actually climb on it. A lot of people who do yoga and balancing, they tie ropes to it and they kind of walk across it. So I'd like for the council to give me the authority to explore something like this. It's actually a very tall, beautiful piece at the end of the park as you're driving up. And again, it looks like a piece of reef, right? So we have the shell and a piece of reef. No, that'd be awesome.

3:17:37Speaker 8

So Alex, yeah, I love the idea of like at more interactive physical Play the video listen that video is very important at the Instagram one.

3:17:48 – 3:18:05Speaker 9

Yeah What are those people standing go go back one just for a second So that's their outdoor park never mind I thought it was so there's there it is and it's very interactive a lot of you skits All right, then go back to the council

3:18:08Glenn Singer

We got it. So everyone is in agreement?

3:18:11 – 3:18:29Jessie Mendal

Yes. Fun fact, two to five, there's nowhere to fall out. Safety There was a lot of holes where the kids could really fall out like that bridge Having another rope probably How's our current part is there fall out there Watch the kids like crazy. It's there is fallout. I

3:18:42 – 3:19:05Speaker 9

Mayor, I will say that just speaking to Miracle, so they've been a partner of ours for over 30 years. When I first got hired, the first thing that they did in the second week that I was here, they came out and fixed all the rusting issues that we had. Most of their products are components, so if something fails, you take it out and you swap it out. We swapped out the domes and stuff like that, and they've come out for everything that we need. No, they've been great. That's big.

3:19:06Glenn Singer

Guys, I want to congratulate you. We've got a lot of accomplishments. Mayor, can we take one? Miracle. We're sticking to Miracle.

3:19:13 – 3:20:09Speaker 9

Yeah, that was the unanimous vote. Miracle was unanimous. Yeah. Mayor, just again to remind the council this is important. If you have not stopped by my office to look at the color selections and designs for the Wellness Center, please do so today. Also, it's very important because I am presenting the final final in parentheses, selection of equipment at your Tuesday council meeting. So if you have not provided me your feedback on what you believe is missing or what we should add for the gym equipment, please send that to me. And also I will be presenting the final furniture that I've selected with your input. The council will not be voting on furniture. But you will be kind of blessing the gym equipment selection and then if you haven't looked at the design elements for the colors We're gonna have that know that I have submitted to all of the Wellness Center Advisory Committee members all of our gym equipment selection for their feedback So their input is important to us and their feedback is due to me back on Thursday as a reminder Your next council meeting is next Tuesday at 6 p.m.

3:20:10Glenn Singer

Thank you. Wait, thank you for attending. Do you have any comments or anything? No, thank you for being here. Contribution.

3:20:19 – 3:20:39Speaker 8

Guys, thank you for getting it done. It was great. Can we discuss a color scheme, though, for this park? For what? A color scheme. Sure. Does anybody have, like, preferences? I mean, I just thought that blue was... Well, I thought the blue for the ocean would be great. But, like, in looking at the green and the yellow ones?

3:20:39Glenn Singer

Well, green for the ocean, too.

3:20:40Judy Lusskin

I think all the muted colors were more favorable than the...

3:20:44 – 3:21:03Speaker 9

I agree with Councilman. I... I agree with Councilman Bernstein. I think that it's too blue, and so what we could do is work with them to incorporate some yellows, like golden beach colors, so the gold, bring in the blues and the golds, and kind of mirror what we have out there today. I think it would be good to complement each other. I wouldn't go too exotic with the colors.

3:21:04Speaker 8

In looking at them, the brown, the green, and the yellow just look good. The brown, the green, and the yellow, to me, look the best.

3:21:11Speaker 9

Which is the brown, green, yellow?

3:21:15Judy Lusskin

The days of the red the bright red blue with the whale look at the wheel with the blue go back one I think the whale was see with the blue.

3:21:23Bernard Einstein

He's like going into the water.

3:21:25Speaker 9

Yeah Council mercy I agree with you. It seemed like miracles all blue. We could have them change out some of the panels to soften I agree.

3:21:33Judy Lusskin

I agree Where they showed those bright geometric colors. Yeah, it's not gonna look it's not gonna look no, thank you.

3:21:39Speaker 9

Thank you again Thank you for your time today

3:21:42Speaker 8

Thank you for coming.

3:21:44Speaker 9

I hear you, and I agree.

3:21:45Speaker 8

I like the blue, like if it's water, but I like the natural brown and greens in there. Great. Thanks, guys. Bye, guys.
