Each fiscal year, Union County leaders work hard to strengthen our community and build a better future while using your tax dollars wisely. The 2026-2027 budget invests in general government, human services, public safety, education, and other essential services, while keeping the tax rate at 43.42. The total budget for July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 is $664.3 million, which includes utilities not funded by taxpayers. Key investments include hiring more EMTs to improve response times and save lives. More funding for Union County Public Schools, South Piedmont Community College, and charter schools to support education and teachers. A new school resource officer position to ensure every public school has this critical position dedicated to keeping our students safe, and the Sheriff's Office will offer new pay incentives for military service and education to help recruit and retain qualified staff. The county will also buy land to attract new businesses, boost the local economy, and create high quality jobs. Union County water and sewer rates will increase slightly to continue to support our system and provide reliable service. The water utility is paid for by users, not county taxes.
