Hey, we're about ready to get this show on the road. So, um, if you would please rise for the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all for all.

2:17Speaker 1

At this time, I'd like to call uh Reverend Dr. Luke Lindon from the Madina United Church of Christ to give us the invocation.

2:29 – 3:32Speaker 1

It's an honor to be with you. Uh would you please join your hearts with mine in prayer. Holy one, there's need no need to invoke your presence as you are sovereign over all the earth. Instead, I invoke the fruit of your spirit on the public servants being installed tonight. Lead them away from the bitter fruit and temptations of partisanship. Give them the hearts of servant leaders, minds for the common good, and insight and patience into the plight of the poor. May they have the spirit of camaraderie, compromise, and community in and through all they do. May the tax dollar remain sacred, and may they never violate the public trusts. May this institution thrive here in Madina, and may we be a city on a hill and a light into the nations. Bless our city and may the better angels of our nature be apparent in our streets, in our homes. I pray in your many holy names. You are God, our Christ, our spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Every year we go through this because there's a big litany of rules and sometimes we modify them, sometimes not. This seems to been going pretty well over the last, I don't know, since 50 years. Dalvo, yes. Hair, yes.

19:28 – 19:50Speaker 1

Motion passes 6. The next two ordinances are talking about the collective bargaining agreement. So, ordinance 126, an ordinance ratifying the collective bargaining agreement between the city of Madina and the Ohio Patrolman's benevolent association for the patrol officers and authorizing the mayor to execute set agreement. Motion to approve. Second discussion. Mayor Shields.

19:48 – 21:16Speaker 1

Mr. President, thank you. This is for our patrol officers. The first uh ordinance here, just a couple of the highlights. The um it's a three-year agreement. The first year, 2026, a 4% raise. 2027 is a 4% raise. And in the third year, it's a 3% raise, but 1% of a pension pickup. There's some changes to health insurance so that if the city's share of health insurance increases, it will also increase uh for the patrol officers as well as just uh putting into writing our current practice of 15% deductible or premium contribution from employees for our those involved in the wellness program, 20% otherwise. Um but and the rest is just some minor changes to some contract language. And as we discussed on council, the adoption of these collective bargaining agreements who are the patrolman's, the sergeants, which is currently uh I think in um negotiations and the communication officers with also the teamsters. What we normally do is once we approve them, we have parody throughout the city. So, you know, even though they may have some increases in wages and some pension pickup, you know, some people in the city don't have pension pickup, so they'll go all get 4% raises for three years, right? So, that's kind of how we'll we'll handle that when it comes up. So, everybody, you know, when we hit those issues, is there any further discussion on the adoption of ordinance 126, bro? Mr. Simpson,

21:14 – 21:53Speaker 1

I'm going to have to abstain. I I do have a relative that's employed on the police department. Okay. Any other questions? Will the clerk please call the role? [clears throat] Simmons, yes. Simpson, abstain. Coin, yes. Dalvo, yes. Hair, yes. [clears throat] Isabella, yes. Ordinance 126 passes by PA's one abstension. Ordinance 226, an ordinance ratifying a collective bargaining agreement between the city of Madina, Ohio Patrolman's benevolent association for the communication officers and authorizing the mayor to execute set agreement. Motion to approve. Second discussion. Mr. shields.

21:51 – 22:25Speaker 1

Uh, thank you, Mr. President. Also, very similar terms, three-year agreement with our dispatch unit communication officers, uh, 4% 2026, 4% in 2027, and then 3% with a 1% additional contribution toward their pension pickup in 2028. Any further discussion? Same as the other one. Will clerk, please call the role. Simpson, yes. Coin, yes. Dalvo, yes. Hair, yes. Isabella, yes. Simmons, yes. Ordinance 226 passes 6.

22:23 – 22:47Speaker 1

I think that's it. So, you had an organizational meeting and a council meeting. So, everybody now next the 12th, I think it is, is the next meeting. I expect everybody that's here today to be back then. It's a lot more fun when we have more people [laughter] here. So, I'm glad everybody's going to come back. So, the meeting is adjourned and remember there's refreshments in the back if you would like some. Meeting is adjourned.
