Town Council - Regular Meeting

Good evening. It's 8. Sorry, no 8 o'clock. Um, so I have the privilege of calling the meeting to order. This is the January 5th, 2026 meeting of town council of the town of McCandless for purposes of reorganization. Everybody, please stand for the pledge. I to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. [snorts]

First order of business is to appoint a temporary chairperson. Um, in the past, I've filled that role until the office of president of council was uh elected and then the meeting is turned over to that individual. Is everybody okay with that? All right. Very good. Um, with that we will uh move to the oath of offices. Uh, Judge Brungo is here and the first uh individual is council member electorine alt. Come on up.

Please raise your right hand. Okay. Next. Council member elect John Hickerson.

Next, council member elect Nathan Babage.

All right. Thank Judge Brango. With that, we'll move on to item five, public comment on agenda items only. Any takers this evening? Right.

Right. Congratulations new council members and old council members. Um I had con some questions about number nine on the agenda. Um from an organizational point of view when we appoint the town manager to assistant and deputy positions. I get I'm confused about that how that works organizationally. And then my other comment is um I looks like we're gonna have a new president on the agenda today and I just wondered when the check signing abilities were going to be approved for the new president if that's coming up at the next meeting or if that's happening tonight. And once again, thank you so much and congratulations.

Thank you. That's right. Any others? Okay, seeing none, we'll move on to item six, election of president of town council. So, I'll open the floor. Are there any nominations for president of town council? I would like to nominate council member Trish Cloon for president of the town council. Okay. Are there any other nominations for president of town council? Okay. Seeing none, can I have a motion to elect Trish Cloon as president of town council? I make a motion to elect Trish Cloon as president of town council.

I second it. Motion by Mr. Wall, seconded by Mr. Hickerson. All those in favor say I. I. Are there any opposed? Motion carries unanimously. Congratulations. Please.

With that, I'll turn the meeting over to President Moon. Thank you very much, Mr. Corville. Uh, next on the agenda is the election of vice president of council. May I have a nomination for vice president of council? I'd like to make a nomination for Nick Djetti to be vice president of this council. Thank you. Are there any other nominations for vice president? Hearing none, do we have a motion to elect? I make a motion to elect Nick Georgetti, vice president of council. I'll second. We have a motion and a second. All in favor, please say I. I.

Any opposed? And it is unanimous. Congratulations. [applause] Next on the agenda is the appointment of Secretary of the Town of McCandless. Do we have a motion? I'll make this motion. Motion to appoint John F. when as the secretary of the town of McCandless for a two-year term for the years 2026 and 2027. Thank you, Mr. Jetti. And do we have a second? Second, Mr. Darla. All in favor, please respond by saying I. I.

Any opposed? Thank you very much. We have uh we have the appointment of secretary. Next on the agenda is the appointment of town officials. Uh there was a memo created that had a list of the town officials. These are people in our town who are already employees who are serving in these extra capacities um because of their skills and their knowledge in those areas. Um we would now I'd like to ask for a motion please. I make a motion to approve the memorandum December 30th, 2025 for the 2026 27 appointed officials.

Any opposed? Okay. We have appointed the town officials as outlined in the memo provided. Okay. Next on the agenda, um I'm going to share with the folks up here. You have it in front of you as well. One to Diane as well, please. Um, as we appoint the liaison and the alternates, I want to remind council that the liaison positions are as liaison. Our committees are very wellestablished, very um, educated, thoughtful um, qual wellqualified people that serve on our committees. And so our role is to act as liaison to these committees. Um we want you to know that as council as well you are de facto a part of each of these committees and always welcome and strongly encouraged to attend all meetings that you can. So we will go through these appointments now my sheet there. Okay. Beginning with a planning commission liaison Lorraine Alt and John Hickerson Jack Hickerson as alternate. Next zoning hearing board Mr. Joe Wall as the liaison and Mr. Doug Arllo as alternate. McCandless Township Sanitary Authority Mr. Doug Arllo as the liaison and Mr. Nathan Babage as alternate. McCandless Franklin Park Ambulance Authority. Mr. Georgetti as the liaison and Miss Lorraine Alt as alternate

Northland public library authority Mr. Nathan Babage as liaison and Mr. Jack Hickerson as alternate North Hills Council of Governments Mr. George as liaison and Mr. Hickerson as alternate and Mckanis Industrial Development Authority Mr. Hickerson as liaison Mr. Gietti alternate volunteer firefighter steering committee myself Trish Cloon as liaison and Mr. Nathan Babage alternate environmental advisory committee Mr. Jack Hickerson as liaison and Mr. Doug Arlo as alternate the financial development and promotional committee Miss Lorraine Alt as liaison Mr. Georgetti alternate personnel board Mr. Nick Georgetti as liaison and Mr. Wall alternate Pittsburgh North Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Joe Wall as liaison and Mr. Georgetti alternate. Um the things that are not on the agend on the um agenda printed but these are appointed positions by the president would be our storm water ad hoc committee Mr. Babage as liaison and myself Trish Cloon as alternate and code appeals Mr. Babage as liaison Mr. Wall are alternate and also uh this is not a committee but in relation to the events going on and working with our 175 our community day and our winterfest we have myself Miss Cloon and Miss Lorraine Alt as the alternate for that.
