to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you folks on this rainy day. Very much appreciate being I will try to move the things along as quickly as possible. I know it's so good to see a seat. Good to see you, Joe. Jen. All right. So, we're gonna do two things today. So, we've got the regular FDC meeting and then we do have the Aless subcommittee meeting right after we'll get into the details on that. Um, but first of all, I just have number three on the agenda just as far as going through the past events. So, the Alageney Observatory lecture, I was not able to. So can you report back how that with the science stuff? Yes. Did the tech work okay? You just plug in. Well, well, I intend to go there next. So, next week, Thursday. So, I'm going there next week. And you all are invited. like I was sending us there.

2:11 – 4:08Speaker 1

Yes. That sounds great. I'm praying for this one. Sounds good. All right. Next thing we have then coming up June 7th, the vintage Apple computer lab. So that's happening on June 7. Unfortunately, I can't make it that big, but I have to sign up to that. Yes. I think it's$10 reserve tomorrow. slot. All right. Anything else on June 7? Great one. June 19th to Chris Breen. This is the University of Pittsburgh economist. By the way, I did talk to John Schwen. He said that he's very interested in attending probably Abby most. Um and then as well at the last get together a few other people I said he'll come in loaded for bit. See what he has to say. Oh yeah. Yeah. No, I mean I told him he'd come in ready to speak uh north since he's more regional area. uh I had to tell him he may he may get some some people on the planning side who know their way around the budget know their way around. So he'll be here on the 19th. I did confirm I did also confirm with Wanda Haney. So Wanda has the horses uh horseback riding for the handicap right across the street. So she has the

4:06 – 6:04Speaker 1

horse's farm there. Uh we went through the flyer with her yesterday. So change but that's a question for the handicap horses that part of it. Yeah. But instead of having that donate to her organization she would love that. I I will speak for her. should and she'll tell you and she'll give you the history of the whole area because her family owned I think where town hall is now that was her family. So I think she their family it's been in there for over 100 years. So she'll be giving the wide related Am I not surprised? Okay. Is there anything else on the agenda? Anybody wants to add just for the public comment on the agenda items? It's the usual set go a little more depth. So I am going to move on then to just the approval of the previous meeting minutes. If if folks have had a chance to review that I don't think there's anything uh different that came out of that. The only thing that we did go through gayla and we we approved the gayla subcommittee making approvals and then just informing the group of what's happening. So that was the major thing that came out of the west. So do I have a a motion to approve the minutes from the west? Okay. Have a

6:05 – 8:04Speaker 1

second. All right. Moving on to the gayla. So the annual gayla again we did say last time we did have the subcommittee subcommittee starting started to meet. We did confirm November 1st at the Camelot in West. So that is set now. That is that is the date and that is our list. And then we did as well in the subcommittee confirm a list of 11 awardes. Uh and again we reviewed those last time. We did take one person off the list because they can't be there. But we've got the list of 11. So we're going forward with that list. We'll start as a subcommittee. We're meeting again after this. So we're going with that list. Yes. One note to that acre garden club is going in as a group only getting two three tickets being their 75th year was appropriate to put them all in. and they have guaranteed quite a few seats. Yeah. At at the game house. So, we feel good about that. I think it's great. Yeah. I I think that that's just a great almost experiment to see how that works. I think it's great especially for 75 years. Yes. Yeah. Great idea. Right. And again, we'll meet more. So our intention is most of the heavy lifting work will be done in the subcommittee and then you know we'll report back to the city status updates if we need anything huge but we're going forward right now that date uh the place and the list that we any questions on that thanks all right just reports and updates from committee from a a marketing and communication standpoint I'm not sure if you have

8:03 – 10:00Speaker 1

anything about that yeah I just wanted to share what Facebook. The post about any marching band that we have downstairs t-shirts from the early 90s had a reach of 2.5,000 and 23 likes. And the one that had the most likes was 37 likes and it was the map, the black and white map of early 1920s. Um, so that we've got a lot of new views and our reach is 10,000. We've had 38,000 That's pretty good. That's fantastic. Great job. Good job. Yeah, there are other neighborhood groups that often share our posts, especially about programs. So, yeah, any sort of interaction Thanks. Any questions about the marketing cons? By the way, I still continue to send everybody to the one page here where you can sign up for everything. It's great. So, I had the Rotary Club presentation that came in hand where I see having it all in one spot that we could sign up for help. All right. Budgeting. I don't know if there's anything new on the budget

9:57 – 11:57Speaker 1

front. Actually, I had a question from last time. I did ask for an updated budget. We start looking at the budget here in July. Okay. You're probably going to get a sheet probably sometime as very well. We go through we go through a process. We go through a couple different budget. Um I wouldn't think that you're going to I wouldn't think that you're going to see any increase from what you have this year because we're looking towards next year's smart spent last year. So we understand that last year the way down previous year we're looking at the activities now we're looking at track record is and I mean I'm being totally upfront with you because I've been where you are. Yeah. Okay. And I know exactly what you're looking for. There are some things that we did here that now we have the parks and recreation department. So we did that to try to get people. So my advice to you, even though I'm outside looking in the area, is to

11:54 – 13:50Speaker 1

create a best if you're going to get people in the door and think outside the box because every person that comes in here study about this right after you left. When we got people in the door for stuff that's outside the box, we like a 70% return rate. When we did we did the the driving movies and we did the soccer the soccer days. Once people come in here, they realize how special this place is. I mean, I'd be happy to admit Those are great things. You want people to come in that wouldn't normally come in because then you retain them for so you know while it's great that you get these churches and whatnot we need to reach people that are underage. We get them interested in the history of the heritage of this area. Scouts scouts are great, but they're one segment. Scouts are a very small segment of population

13:52 – 15:50Speaker 1

diverse diverse. You want people that play sports. You want people that that dance. Okay? because maybe you have one of these dance studios come in here on one of these Thursday nights and put on a little demonstration or getting more people involved. Okay, any more questions budget wise? I think we're okay. All right. From a a programming standpoint, uh we have started to put together uh speaking speakers for next year. So there's two people I've made contact two new folks that we haven't had before. I'm sorry. One we did from his name is Steven. Oh yeah. Yeah, he's just so we did pencil him in for our March speaker, but he's very flexible. So that's him. The other guy we got which speaks to this says he would pay to listen to this guy read from the phone book. So his name is Brady Kryer. So he is a historian with Robert Morris, but he's also on history channel. He's on news stations, podcast channel work for the for the heritage and cultural center video. Dad, I do not know. I can ask that. I can ask him.

15:48 – 17:46Speaker 1

He's kind of he's in he's in London right now giving a presentation. So uh so he he's definitely he is wellraveled. Yeah. But seems like super nice guy. I feel like I know him because I've listened to a billion of his podcasts. See him on TV. He has he he has written I think seven books. Uh his specialties tend to be anything in American Revolution, French and Indian War, for pit, uh Native Americans of the area. Uh whiskey rebellion is a big one. George Washington, but he has a ton of stuff. So, it's like it's like K. So, it's like the options are obviously does this really well. So, excellency and I would believe. So, I'm gonna I still haven't. So we're I'm going to give them uh third Thursdays of the month is what we're going to look forward to again 7. So basically the same as this year March through November that's still right. So those two that I've got contacted right now we will start putting together the agenda. We want to make sure it coincides with the 175 programs appropriate to it. And I love Joe's idea like just try to mix some things up. We were brainstorming earlier today about some like campus specific programs that we should do next year to coincide with 175. Um that would be line sites maybe Frankina again Ross Park will celebrate its 40th birthday next year. Um that was very popular one that we did Scott as well. Um so we do some partnership with them all on that. Um

17:43 – 19:36Speaker 1

also some new topics if we can find experts in these fields but brown and bal would be an interesting topic of discussion. Uh the oil der in the area okay um pharmacy maybe Jima wants to come talk maybe Ron Iikner wants to come talk and then if we can get the history to talk about highway Yes. [Music] You remember Big the totally different ancient But they're under the one of the ideas I know we've had in the past is some of the shining star award winners. Are any of those folks good speakers that you would want to bring up? because obviously they've got connection whether they whether they've been running a business you know or they've been doing something that I think especially with the 175 they're in the community there are some really good speakers. There's a lot of

19:46 – 21:46Speaker 1

In fact, I have people state level at the United States Senate level. I [Music] definitely also celebration one to think it should be three or four days. We can discuss that later. But yes, and I think this facility needs to be a part of that. Oh, sure. Right. Anything out here? We're just starting to make this out for next year. So, we're we're getting there. So, we'll we'll get going after we've got the daily stuff coming. We're starting to fill out for next year. I'm going to move on to volunteer. I know Suzanne, you have some immediate needs on the volunteering front. I know you sent out requests. So, send it over to you about update on the volunteer. I'm sorry. I thought you sent out an email. Okay. Yeah. [Music] Did you get people to fill those? Did you get people to fill those spots? [Music] I didn't what days. Well, I was

21:49 – 23:38Speaker 1

so ready. So that's all she calls that. Yeah. All right. I'm going to move on then. Is there anything else? Do I need to call your friend? Okay, it is spring up. So, all right. On the operations front. All right. The Trinity Luthering Group is it in early May? I was Suzanne. Great. And I am getting just you know I am getting informally in the neighborhood as people get asking about could they get formal tours like a small. Okay. All right. I did say I said I know the person talking. Okay, that's Thank you so much. All right, then the Red Hat Society is going to discount. Do you need any coverage on that or

23:48 – 25:46Speaker 1

Yeah. All right. The guiding documents. Yeah. So, um I Saturday librarian volunteer start to document and scan all of our Civil War letters. So, she has scanned all of them into the computer. Um, I bought some materials this week with an acidfree preservation box, some sleeves to put them in to better preserve them. Um, and I think at this point, now that we have them on the computer, we're going to go and try. Um, so that's a project that I have working on and yeah, great. I didn't know that. Yes. An archist from Ohio reached out to me. She was hired by the Ohio and she reached out to me about she saw on Facebook I guess about the the sword and the documents. And so Amy located a picture they have in their collection of the farm. And the descendants of this guy are planning a trip here to the center. Yes, I was wonderful. Excellent. Great team. I'm move on to the loan from the from history center. Yeah, just a reminder

25:43 – 27:40Speaker 1

that the carousel panel will be leaving us for conservation center next well this fall. It'll be gone probably until 2027 at which point they said they'll return it to us as a nice um but she said whenever they do come pick it up, we can move something, borrow something from their collection to fill that space. So that's true. Yeah. Um, so if you just a reminder, just look on their website to see what they have in their collection already. Um, so you can do a search on their website to search, you know, North Hills. So just something relative to our collection. I love all the old stuff. baseball, but yeah. figure out probably what we'll do is make a wish list of maybe our top five and then experts that we have like television and radio stuff [Music] like some of the stuff that they have coincide with some of the So the mechanis 175 committee applications are online and I would love to have a representation from somewhere.

27:44 – 29:40Speaker 1

Okay, the application I told it's a minor construction. We can discuss that. But yes, here. Okay. Well, that's wonderful. Um, yeah, I just need someone, you know, who is a designated center person because I don't think that excuse me person if you need help feel happy um the brick program so I found bricks are us I know what it is uh they make the bricks that are exactly like the ones. Um, so I am planning on the way it works is you take orders for the tier. I put the order form online or people can order them online website. Um, I haven't set price yet, but I thought that would be a nice thing to probably just roll out this year.

29:41 – 31:40Speaker 1

They're like cheap not to do so once I'll get that program together. I just think that sounds great. I mean, people come and show their whole family. That's my 50. [Music] Um, okay. Another thing I've been working on is I met with Lori Borowski um a couple weeks ago. She had approached me about the Emmy. Um they were a stamp company over in Franklin and the building is still over there. Her dad ran that company. She's got a lot of information about it, photographs of the men working in that park um business. Um, so maybe that could someday be some sort of display. Her her main name was Sper. Sper family has been lived in the Somebody from the

31:37 – 33:30Speaker 1

Space for the last seven years. Yes. And her mother was a star. Yes. So she grew up on Starber Lane. as a secondary thing. She has a whole bunch of family library. The Someone coming up where the storage are still Yeah, that one that's still sitting Um, I asked Kevin to design a t-shirt logo that I envisioned. Remember the license plate that said you've got a friend in Pennsylvania. Um, so it would look like that. that says you've got a friend like the letters and numbers on there. You may have put the the So, I'm working on getting pricing for those t-shirts

33:33 – 35:21Speaker 1

and they for sale for the volunteers. They were for the volunteers, but I think I think they're I like them. I think so. We should sell the extra. Um, let's see. So, there's something there's the heartage. Okay. So, it's state grant that is a conservation grant. It's for governments. Our grant is available but it goes to 501c3 you have it disposal community association. Okay. So I just wanted to make sure everybody knows that that would be the process. I believe for this one it's like the handful you know less than five that we can as we are. Yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah, I believe that was due. Sorry. But anyway, I thought that maybe we could apply for additional materials to conserve the guided materials and also judge books. I told about that as well. She said she would be all together.

35:28 – 37:24Speaker 1

Well, my final bullet point um is I met with two ladies from the North Library last week. Um we talked about doing a library backpack. So the library has we use the bird watching one as an example. So in this backpack there's a book about different birds. There's a list of birds that you might see in the park. There's a list of mushrooms that you might park. So it's meant to be taken out and like as an experience kind of thing. Yeah. So, um, so I thought I would like to do one of the canvas. So, we would include the what that you and Diane made the scavenger hunt and then the history book was in there. So, perhaps of things um that we could do and just wanted to make aware that works as well. does a great job. I would be sponsor. This is not just for you, but it's for the show for

37:25 – 39:00Speaker 1

backpack. It's a way for them notification, but it's also a way for you guys to get some better. Yeah, good guy. [Music] What happened to you be distributed? So it's a back to school. All right, that was the last thing we had on our agenda this semester. Any other comment about anything else you want to add to the agenda or want to discuss? All right. Do I have a motion to adjourn? You have a second. All right. Thank you so much. Great time folks. Thanks for your time, especially on a retail like today. We are given a subcommittee
