Right. Thank you folks and welcome to the monthly FDPC meeting. And we're going to start out as usual with the pledge of allegiance. Over there. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty of justice for all. Thanks everyone. All right. Uh so we have a lot on the agenda today. I'm going to try to be pretty uh brief through things uh just to get get through things and then we will have um we'll vote on having a gay subcommittee meeting after this meeting. So we we'll get to those votes. The first thing we go through is just the current events. I do have up there as well the calendar uh that is so expertly provided. So, thank you Abby for putting that up to date on the MCAM website uh that has everything on it. First of all, tomorrow, so April 17, 7 p.m. our speaker series, we have the American Garden Spot by Sue Morris. I intend to be here and so I'll make sure to be able to get everything all set up. Any questions about tomorrow at all? Yeah. Anybody else? Who else plans to be here for tomorrow's session? Four people. Okay, you got four. All right. Okay. And five of them. Okay. Gotcha. You're all right. Okay. Do you know how many about like 15 19? Okay. Good. Yeah. So, you'll probably be okay. And do you know at all what does anybody know what um AV stuff? I assume she'll have a laptop or something or
if she needs anything special otherwise I'll I'll be here about half hour ahead unless she wants me to be here an hour. If she wants me to be an hour, I can so I'm happy to help her out. All right. Anything else about tomorrow? I think that sounds awesome, Betty. Uh, your skill your skill in this is unsurpassed. Unsurpassed. No, Jill. All right, bring it on. I know. It's just, you know, that's it's become a normal thing now. I spend a bunch of money on that. So, it's like, all right. Uh, okay. So, I'm looking forward to that. I think we do the same configuration as last time, which is facing this way. Uh, I know we said before we had challenges if somebody had to use the bathroom and everything, but I think that worked out fine. So, same configuration. Yeah, perfect. Sounds good. Right. April 29th then the Easter egg. Not sure Abby if you want to talk about anything that you need for the April 29th Easter egg. Is that normal? Is that a normal free Easter egg? Wait, seriously. Did you say 380? Wow. Okay, it has to be. Yeah, that's eggs. It's like
that's all right. This is totally frozen. Yeah. So, we'll keep a close eye on that, but I know you guys were planning on being open that morning, which I think would be wonderful. Um, everything is happening up here at the soccer fields. Um, and we will go on with the program if it is raining. Obviously, if it's thunderstorming and lightning, that's a safety issue. So, we'll cancel, but um we are planning full steam ahead until otherwise specified. So, the registration begins at 9:30. So if you guys want to be here at 9ine, it was probably a good idea to get. Now there's um you have a certain age group that goes first. Yes. So it's broken into three different age groups. At 10:00 it'll be 0 to 3. Um at 10:30 it's 4 to 6 and then at 11:00 it's 7 to 10. And only show up. This sounds great. What other help do you need for the other than being open to hear? What else do you need? Oh yeah. Would you say people just admin staff Oh, you mean you did the
Yeah. No removal. It's all Excellent. All right. Any other questions or anything else you need for access? I just want to be open here. And Suzanne, I know you said at a minimum you intend to open up exactly. Okay. I'm going to see what I can do to get at least to be here at the start. So, should be able to hopefully help out at least at the start. All right. If I could make a suggestion, we suggest talk to John and have change the sign up to reflect the Easter Bunny is here. Make it seem like it's a big deal um when you're having the event because we had that problem with Santa. I don't think that many people that want to sit down are worried about town council meeting on the second and fourth Tuesday or second and fourth Mondays. So let's let's bring that sign into more focus. Sounds good. Yes. Not me. All right. All right. Moving on to other event which uh of course just so you know my family continues to sign up for all of these things. So May third treasures in the trunk bringing many of our treasures uh in the trunk for the May third treasure hunt by the way. Easy to sign up though. You did a good job. Easy to sign up for. Um anything else you want to mention for that? Because I know that's my bet is you're probably gonna have a sold out crowd for that is my bet. Yeah.
Make a suggestion. In years past, we had treasures in the trunk. We did have some things that were available for continental breakfast like coffee and donuts. Not that it's a big deal and I don't even know if you're going to be open, but it's a chance to make a few bucks and get people through the door. Some treasures in the trunk. It starts at 8. Yeah. And we're going to block off this entire parking lot for that event. So, people won't be able to park in here. This will just be vendors and people shopping only. Um, we're asking all of the people shopping to park over there and walk the bridge. That'll be good. Yeah, that get Yeah. Like you were there last time. Yep. We're coming back. Let me tell you, we have been keeping treasures. It's in my garage. 380. No, this is for treasure. Oh, awesome. Yes. Yes. How are you going to deal with parking? for the Easter. Yeah, it's going to be here. Yeah, they're going to be here, but it's going to be held up on the soccer fields, right? So, you're going to have that parking lot. You're going to have the front parking lot. You're also going to have this parking lot. I've spoken with Jason Wolf. They're going to be able to park along the front of the park. All right. So, you got to have plus I'm supposed to talk to my guy at Cadence tomorrow, but I think it's all hands on deck for this. So, every everybody's been very cooperative because it's, you know, it's it's a, you know, it's a a holiday celebration and we are going to have a
police officer stationed at the entrance to this parking lot. So, directing traffic gets a bit congested coming. Yeah. People try to fall. Yeah. Yes. Anything else for treasures in the trunk? I would block off that. Yeah. Yeah. Take matter into your own hands. All right. Moving on to the next speaker then for May. The next speaker series we have is Alageney Observatory Lecture uh on May 15th. So that's a confirmed one for May 15th. And so we'll get we'll get everybody out like how how much we're looking for so far as people who are signed up. The only other thing to mention about that particular presentation is that it comes with the additional bonus day where the people who come to the lecture are then invited. That's the May 29th and tour. So will they get like how will they know like will they take their names or something or you know? Yeah of the observatory. So when she's here um we'll ask the folks they get first priority and then if there's extra spaces if only 10 people can come or something um then we'll open it up and fill those extra spaces. Perfect others. Excellent. So that is again right under that is the May 29th tour of the Alagy Observatory. that you they're a package deal. All right, then moving on for June 7th, the vintage Apple computer lab as well. And that's also on the website. So, you're doing a good job getting it. All of this now is very consistent on the website to be able to sign up for these in the exact same way. So, I my compliments again because now once you're in the system, it's all the same
and you can just do it all, you know, whichever ones you want to get done. Anything else you know that we need for that one for the Apple? Yeah, he has a collection 15 or early 1990s Apple computers. It was awesome. I love that. Yeah, I mean it sounds great. So, we'll set up the tables similar to this and he'll have each one set up. Um, I'm asking people to designate a time like purchase a block of time so that way you have that designated computer for an hour. Um, I think we're only doing or two hours. Yeah, I think we're doing it for four hours. So, you buy it's like $10. You get two hours of that computer. Awesome. That's like back in the day stuff. I like it. All right. Anything else on the upcoming events? Uh, I wanted to ask Frank, he did we have a preliminary community day meeting coming up at the end of this month or early next month and we were going to talk then about possibly putting something on a calendar to do another order. If not for this year, then next year. Yeah, that took back off. I I gave up my spot last year. Frankie, you did a great job. But I this year possibly I mean we have someone votes for every month through November. Um so rather than not
you know, just as a customer a few times. Yeah. No, I'd say probably next year, maybe early next year, March. Moving on from that, I spoke with awesome. That's awesome. All right. Yeah. And just so you know, we can recruit some younger elves that I know of. So, just so you know, we can't that can be done. We have to get clear from the parent elves, but we can we can get this done. So, that that is for me. She can recruit others. That's where that Perfect. Perfect. Awesome. Okay. Okay. Anything else on the upcoming events? Oh, the only thing I wanted to mention, Abby, is that I did talk to Wanda Haney from uh for our July speaker. Okay. The July date is looking good for her now. I I'll 100% confirm shortly, but she 99%. So that should work. All right. Not this year. I reached out to Diana um to see if she'd be interested in adapting it to do it next year for 175. Um she said she was good. I
haven't followed up with her city plan. Um, but I think that would be a perfect time to do it next year. That's true. Was that right? I have not made contact with him yet. I was probably gonna put him on for next year. Really? Are you doing the drawings again? Are you folding on? Oh, the presentation. Um, no. Actually, Scott Becker, the executive director of the following state, just retired earlier this year. Um, so I'm not sure the contact who the contact is there just yet, but it grow and share. [Music] Yeah. Yeah. If you have program ideas that you'd like to see um in the future, please just email them to me as you think of them. Who did that one? Well, I don't know. Do you remember who did the radio one, Jerry? Oh, I know who did that one. Yeah. Yeah. would be a good one of I'm getting all good. We love this. Good. All right. I am going to move on though to uh just to get us through on number four just on the the agenda items for today. Just uh anybody want to add anything else and you look at the agenda for today? I just wanted to
mention that I sent you all an email last week or the week before about the heart and family coming um and looking at the Western Park. Yes. Items that we have. I just wanted to share again um their words of appreciation for us from Yeah. Yeah. It was really nice. It was really fantastic. I mean that just tells you what a great partnership for. People don't know I mean basically they were thanking for the stewardship of this organization I did they were here for a moment too much but the beginning video I did take a picture like of the backs of their heads. Um, so for like internal news like that, that's fine. I just want to pick out the internet and visit it. But that's a good idea. There was one loop destroyer from them. Oh yeah, destroy it. You always make me learn something, D. Always make me learn. Thanks friends forcing me to learn something once again no matter what. All right. Uh just moving on for approval of the previous minute meetings. I know we we uh minutes were sent out previously. Do I have a motion to approve or does anybody have any comments on seconded Suzanne? Thank you. All right, I do have an agenda item on the gayla here. Uh so again coming on the success of that last year which I think we basically saying that was a
very good community event. It was a great cross-section of folks was all the feedback we got. Uh so in looking for this year so we're talking 2025 now. There are a couple things that we have to do pretty quickly. So, two things I want to put up for discussion and voting today is we're going to have to put down a location just so we can start doing the planning on that. And then secondly, talk about having the subcommittee meeting start up again except we want to do it a little bit earlier than we did last year. So, we want to get that started. Uh, so I want to be able to discuss those two things, the location proposal, uh, because we do have two different ones that we're taking a look at and we have to we have to like come down on one just to be able to put the details. But Joey, I don't know if anything else you want to mention on that. The Discovery 28 in Granberry. Wonderful venue, lot of space, had a a building stage, had all the AVs that you could ever want. But there were problems. We'd have to bring in our own boost. We would have to bring in our own bartenders. We would have to take care of all of that ourselves. The cost per person for that was very comparable to what we got from the Camelot, which is up right off of 19 behind sheets. I'd love to have it in the canvas, but we looked at the great hall and the great hall wants a $12,000 um guarantee. I think I asked them why they needed a 12 or why you're asking for a $12,000 guarantee. They said because we can't turn into a wedding. I get it. Yeah, I get it. There's no competition. There will be
any licenses church into a bank. But the bottom line is is that D and I looked at these two places. The pricing is very comparable. However, and I thought that the Discovery Church was nicer, but it's 12 miles further out. Further up. And number two, we would have a lot of hassle because we'd have to buy the D and we'd have to contract with bartenders at the Camel lot. They'll take care of all of that and they take care of the goodies and everything. So, it's a one-stop shop. Our my recommendation and Don that we select the camera one it's going to be about $50 $50 per person and I'll give you my opinion. I think we go with the Yeah. So to me, I'd go for the ease like whatever match us the easiest. So my re I mean I would go with Camelot as well. I also like the idea that it's 12 miles closer. So I I think that's a very that's a major benefit. And so for those two reasons I would defact to do that that's the next so I am going to put that up to support FDPC because we do have to come down to agreement on is this you know which of these locations to center on uh in order to start taking it to the next step. So I am going to put that up for a vote to say I'm going to recommend that we go with Camelot. And so I'm going to ask you all those in favor. Did you say
the pricing was about the same? I think that the one in uh Bra was a little bit less but some unknowns maybe for all. But if there was unknowns about the bartendering and how how much that's going to cost you. No, it comes out probably come out. So, I'm going to put it up there. Uh, so I'm going to suggest or recommend that we accept the location for Camelot to pursue that one. Yeah. Sorry. Motion carried. Thank you. And the second thing is uh is a motion to start up the subcommittee. The subcommittee we had last year uh consisted of Don, Joe, Betty, uh Don, Kevin, myself, and Suzanne. Miss anybody? I think that was the subcommittee. So I was think Abby, you can join the phone if you'd like that one. It's open. Yeah. And believe me, anybody wants to come, you hear more of the welcomes. These are informal meetings just to keep things moving along. Yeah. And we we try to keep them very quickly. We we won't be doing these weekly or anything right now, but we're going to do the We'd like to do get right away just to start to get organized starting today. I have a motion. Anybody have a motion to be able to start up that subcommittee? Yeah. You done? Motion got seconds. All right. Motion carried. I just like to add one point about if we go to the Camelot and the idea of a dance floor is good. My daughter had a reception there a couple years ago and it was nice camp they did
a super job. It was just up to her her and her husband. They found the DJ so that could be an additional cost just to consider. Appreciate you bring We'll do that at some Yeah. So, and then we'll recommend stuff everybody underwriting of the GA has always been cheap and $5,000 from $2,500 from UPFC and we have $2,500 from slow savings bank. So, anything that we make to be gravy, I shouldn't have put that on recording. All right. Okay. So, we'll again as we come up with more recommendations, it'll come from the subcommittee to this uh to the FDPC for voting. All right. I'm going to move on then. Anything else on the Gayla? All right. Reports and updates from committee marketing and communications. Only thing I want to mention there is u not sure if you were able to get these, Abby. I did send off 10 pictures. I'm not sure. So, let me know later. Format. Uh, is there anything different I can do about them or anything else to be able to help you out on the the postings of things. So, let me know if there's anything else. If so, if it's good, we'll do more of that. So, I just I limited it to 10 and thanks uh to Suzanne, Woody, and others from the volunteers who helped me with that. So, just able to come here, take some of those pictures, and I'm hoping we keep them kept them about what you're looking for. If you didn't get them or something, let me know though. I did. I just Oh, yeah. No rush. And just let me know are they about what you're looking for and is the
description about what you're looking for. So, okay. So, if so, then Suzanne, I'll ask your assistance to we'll get the next set going because I want to get as much advanced to make it as easy for you as possible. All right. And then as well as I appreciate that uh after our last speaker, we we're continuing with the little one minute blurbs afterwards to be able to post. So we're going to continue with those as well, unless anybody thinks otherwise. Be a little summary. Anything else from a marketing and communication standpoint? And again, I just want to mention how nice it is to have everything up on the website consistently and you can sign up for stuff months in advance. That's extremely helpful. All right. Next on the budget side of things and we got the first quarter report for the budget. Yeah. Get it at the end of April 30 days after and our finance person no longer our finance person. We might have a little delay in that. So finance John's old we'll get it in a bunch we have money to spend this last year right and I don't know is there anything mentioned from it I don't think there's anything materially has changed on the budget since we last discussed. All right, programming. If there's anything new on the programming side of things, the only thing I would mention for our June speaker is we I did uh go back and forth again with Chris Bream. So, he's all set for the June 19th. So, he'll be coming. I I told him timely to
talk about the economy given everything that's going on in the economy these days. So, that's that is going to be a timely event. Anything else on the programming front? And on the volunteers front, Suzanne, I'm not sure if there's anything you want to mention uh from a volunteer perspective. Monday. Uh I really think I might sign up uh the questions that you know I tried to get him to permit but I I think that's what he wanted to get maybe something like that. So it's [Music] about I appreciate that. All right. Anything else from the the committees? All right. Just two items under operations. So, the two two groups have requested interest in coming for a visit. I don't know if you want to talk about that. Uh, Abby. Yeah, got two phone calls for the past month or so um of groups um of ladies. One was a church group and one was just like a red hat. I think it was a red group. We have the church group. The red hat society. they just oh so they didn't necessarily want anything
formal but they obviously the open have someone sort of give them an informal tour they they was that um she said as they confirm dates with their members they'll she'll reach back out So we just the right stuff out. Now one thing we could do for that given the very next thing we'll talk about is I'm doing the outreach program with the Rotary Club. This is through Chuck Sweeney on May 1st. So this is but I'm going to their meeting and it's going to be at the Shannipan Country Club. That's on May 1st. And we do have a deck that we put together going to go through that. So if we do like one of these tours or a couple of these tours, we could actually give that presentation as well. like here. I mean that's something to use. Yeah, exactly. Show the video do I mean we we could do that as part of the program here just just to brainstorm but it's it's material we already have and just using it again is not difficult. So either some combination of all those and obviously at the Rotary Club meeting I'm using the video. So I'm going to use a few you know a couple different things. So this is the reschedule from previous when I had it again. I was on the disabled list for for that time, but now I'm back up to full power. So, we'll be doing that May 1st. Right. Anything else from an operational standpoint? All right. Anything else we want to discuss today before we just had one question happen an email about child clearances? Yes. If we turn one hand, do you already turn? Um, did you leave it in the office or I think when I gave it to
[Music] you [Music] because rather large I'm just worried about them being there. What's back there? Um, if you already had it on file, those are good for five years. Um, and then I got riches. I keep getting I haven't went to school. Okay. go back to the school tour. Okay. Yeah, the MCAS community association business through um is friends of the town. There are a lot of things that you can do with a 501c3 in part and parcel to what I was here before. The was that we were going to utilize the 501c3 to go after corporate. I want to put it on everybody's bottom here when they understand that we have that at our disposal and we can there are things that we can do. We can go after money from like the United Way. We can go after monies from the regional asset
district and that we couldn't before and that can go through the final three that is separate but aligned with the on the heritage and beautiful. Anything else to discuss before we go? All right, last thing I want to say is thank you all. I know you have a million things going on. Appreciate your time. Really appreciate it. Got exciting stuff planned this year. It's looking really good. But thanks. Do we have a motion to adjourn? Dan, thank you. Thank you folks. Hand this to want to stay around for that, more than welcome to. Uh, but you don't have to. Last question, mother. What?
