Good evening, everyone. Good evening. As usual, thank you all for your support, your continued support. I'm going to hold this. First thing I'd like to mention, I left for all of you on your seat there, just a little mention from the last meeting. We had signed an MOU with the SHINE program, and when I sent it in for execution, they sent it back to me saying that there was a minor Scribner's error, and I wanted to just bring it to your attention. In Section 2, I highlighted it there. They had said Northwest Focal Point shall, but it should have been SHINE shall. So I just wanted to show that to you.
It should be SHINE?
Yeah, it was the responsibilities of the SHINE program. But when we originally signed it, it had said Northwest Focal Point. So I just wanted to show you that there was a minor Scribner's error. I wanted to bring that to your attention.
Any questions?
Since our last meeting in March, we had a car fit event in collaboration with FDOT. And what that is is our members were able to bring their cars to the center and the FDOT trained technicians were able to show our seniors the proper way to adjust their mirrors, to make sure that their seat was the proper distance from the steering wheel. It was actually a very great event. The members that did it, they loved it. And as we know, the senior games were the first week in March. We've had two performances by the Slow Burn Theater. That's a lot of fun because they they teach the seniors a little like a choreography and they sing. In April, we celebrated our volunteers with a luncheon on April 24th. In May, we had our spring choir concert. We celebrated our mothers with a Mother's Day celebration and we had our ever popular weed tournament. We also have a second place winner on the on the day is their Commissioner Simone. Starting on June 8th, we're going to have a new Zuma Gold teacher. And for right now, she's going to be teaching only on Mondays in the classes from 830 to 930. We're looking forward to that. June 17th is our Domino Tournament, and on the 19th is our Father's Day Luncheon. And on June 24th, we are having a health fair at 930 that's open to the public. So if anyone's interested in coming out and getting some really great information, that's always a good one, June 24th. So once again, thank you to everyone on the board, Kale, Mr. Tolstice, for all your support at the center. We really appreciate everything you do for us. Thank you.
All right. Any questions for the executive director? Okay. Thank you very much. Next up is going to be four board member comments. Board member Schwartz.
I'm going to say this later as well. I want to congratulate Denise Steele for her 42 years. We honor employees from five years and up. I think the longest we have is Abe. But Denise has been with the Senior Center for 42 years and with the City of Margate. She started out as the Activities Director in daycare. She's now the Activities Director for the entire Senior Center. And I just think we should give her a great round of applause for having a tremendous heart. And if you've never been there, you should come and visit because it is evident from the moment you walk in how all the staff loves the people they work with. But specifically, since I know her for such a long time, she's never wavered in her support for seniors. And now I guess she is one. No, you won't tell her I said that. That's all. Thank you.
Board Member Simone.
Terry, as always, thank you so much for everything you do for our seniors. I know for our seniors, it's their home away from home. For me, it's my home away from home. I love going to the Senior Center, participating in your activities. Denise is absolutely phenomenal. She's one of a kind. Probably you'll never be able to replace her because her enthusiasm and her love for the seniors and the Senior Center is beyond reproach. So she's a tremendous asset to us and to the Senior Center. The Wii Bowling, I have to congratulate my team. They carried me through. It wasn't me. It was my team. So thank you to my team for the great bowling that they did. There's some terrific bowlers at the Senior Center. I mean, they're very difficult to beat, some of these seniors. And the health fair yesterday, another phenomenal event. helping the seniors to eat healthy and give them some healthy advice. So thank you again for everything that you do for us.
If I can add, I want to thank the seniors who helped me with my first place trophy that time because I retired at that point. And it was the 92-year-old who was an amazing bowler.
Board Member Rosano.
Yeah. Terry, again, great job, as always. And let them know that on July 4th, we'll be coming by. I'm sure they'll hear us and they'll see us. And if any of them would like to join any one of us on our vehicles or whatever, I would love to have them. Are you going to be? Awesome. And if you ever want for me and my sloth, Cosmo, or Cosmo Jr., to come to the Senior Center, just let us know. Thank you.
Board Member Casciano.
I just wanted to say real quickly that thank you for your help in getting together the caregiver conference that we're having on Friday. I know you're not going to be able to be there because you have to be at the center. But we're having a caregiver, an event to help caregivers to understand what's out there for them. These caregivers, they do so much for the people who they care for. And sometimes they don't know what's out there. what benefits are out there to help them. And sometimes just being able to have a half hour, an hour, two hours to be able to have somebody come in and help or to see what they can get can be a lifesaver because the caregivers end up where the person they're caring for is okay. The person who's doing all the caregiving and worrying about them 24 hours a day, they're the ones who are stressed out and need the help. I want to say thank you to all the people out there who are caregivers. I want to thank you to the senior area agency for understanding the importance of making sure caregivers have all the opportunities to keep themselves sane that they can get. And I'll be working the event on Friday while you're taking care of the seniors here. And I'm thrilled to be able to take part because unless anyone here knows how to get a fountain of youth to get younger, We're all gonna get older, and it's important that the people who take care of us have all the tools to be able to do it and stay sane.
So, thank you. One of the disadvantages to being last is everyone hits all of your points, but in all seriousness, thank you for all you do. I know that the seniors absolutely love the Senior Center. They talk about it all the time, so keep up the good work, right?
Okay.
That's going to be it. So this meeting is now adjourned and our next meeting starts in about two minutes.
