Public Safety Committee - Regular Meeting

4.30, we'll call the meeting to order, roll call. We have all commissioners present, public comment. We have nobody here. One person online, if you want to comment, speak up now. Consent agenda, starting with the minutes. Are there any corrections to the minutes? Okay, police department monthly report.

No. I guess we'll start with calls for service. Calls for service were down July 26 from July of 25, approximately 150 calls, which is a good thing. Adult criminal charges are down 117 to last year in July was 135. OWIs, 12. We do not have July's comparison in 25. 12 for July 26. Forwarded citations, we are up 106 to last year, 94 in July. Field warnings, 573. July 26 is significantly up from July 25, which was at 431. Do you gentlemen have any questions or any clarification on anything on the report?

Hearing none, we'll go to the fire department metrics.

Sure. Not much report there. Our call volume, types of calls that have been steady through the summer. This August was our busiest call volume month of the year. Not by a lot, but it has been the busiest so far with 590 ambulance calls and and a few fire calls on top of that. So if you look at the year as a total, compared to last year, I believe every month has been busier, just in general, call volume-wise, so we're on pace to beat last year's call volume. Otherwise, nothing much out of the ordinary with the types or anything like that. Any questions? Building inspection? And as far as building inspection goes, I touched base with the building inspection supervisor right before I came over here to the meeting, and he says kind of very similar sentiment to our statistics is that everything is on pace to remain the same as last year, if not a little bit, the projections are a little bit more permits dollar value things like that for this year and then just that he states obviously it's summertime so this is the building season so they're extremely busy with their inspections any questions for either chief

Yeah, we recently had interviews for patrol officers and we have five that we'd like to add to our list for a time frame of 12 months. John Henning, Jocelyn Banders, Devin Hinkle, Laura Mathisen, and Haley Quinn. Commissioner Waller was on that panel as well.

And I have no issues with the candidates listed. I'm looking for 12 month periods. I'll look for a motion to approve the list for a period of 12 months. Then police department detective eligibility list. Yeah, Commissioner Walner, this document needs to be amended. I see it's for a position of police detective sergeant. That is not correct. It's not sergeant. It's police detective. So if we could document that. so we're just striking the word sorry striking the word sergeant please um and three candidates that i would like to add into that list uh would be uh officer amber field officer kyle novak and officer joe mcdonald uh we can do a request for a time time frame of three months someone like to make that motion so move
