Good. It is 05:30. We will call the what month, ma'am? April. April Public Safety Committee to order.
I know we have the new policy out there for getting out of state travel in as part of the budget process. This is a conference that we do go to every year. ImageTrend is our software platform that we use for all of our EMS billing, for all of our fire reporting, and things like that. And with that new policy, we weren't sure if we were gonna be sending it in sending someone or not. This is an expensive conference.
We do budget for it every single year, and we just didn't get it in. But again, this was budgeted for this year because we've had we have sent someone for the last couple of years. So that's why we're here asking. This is very important for us, especially this year, to help with the EMS billing, things like that, but also on the federal level. Our old way of reporting fire reports, the federal government redid that.
So with that, the software has had to change, and there's, we'll say, different issues, things like that that we need to be aware of to try and get our reports out there and, you know, for for us as well as to the the government. And this helps in that transition to go from the old, which is called NIFRS to NIRS. This conference will help us stay on top of that so we can work our way through this new reporting system. Any other questions?
You
have the
floor. So we are looking to have when Lancer Circle is redone this summer, we're looking to have the front of what is what we call the commons. I don't know how familiar everyone is with our with our campus, but the the bottom of the u, if you wanna call it that, a planter circle along the school building, we are asking if we can have that designated as a no parking zone. It's it's kind of a no parking zone already on the corners, but the signage isn't isn't overly clear, and you always wind up with people parking in front. When people park in front, they generally seem to creep up the the sides to where it's supposed to be in no parking zone.
So to assist us in being able to load and unload the drop off zone or pickup zone for anyone that's coming to any events we have, especially those that are maybe elderly and don't you know, aren't able to move around quite as well. That's that's kind of the reasoning behind why we're why we're asking for that. Well, they're at the very country. So that's basically the entire front of the school Correct. So we have we have two parking lots there, the large lot on the on the west side of the campus and the small lot on the east side of the campus.
Basically, from parking lot engines to parking lot engines is what we're what we're asking to have as a no parking zone. There's there's been some some discussion that's gotten kicked back and forth the last couple of days amongst the administration there that maybe they want a few spots designated that that can park and then the rest of it, no parking. And the general consensus is kind of just that this no parking all the way across, it's gonna be the easiest the easiest to enforce and the easiest to to to implement in that spot.
Currently, that whole zone is about 260 feet long. It's ordinance for fifteen minute parking. So I don't wanna get to that short of, you know, time limit, it could be hard to enforce too. So I think we pretty much fully support it. The only thing we were talking about too was whether or not we would paint it, which I think would probably be recommended. Because there's a long stretch there. There's no signage there. And I know for snow removal, like, the school is requesting that we don't put up additional signage. There's, like, one at the beginning and at the end. So basically, right at the end of one curve where the west lane goes into the south lane and where the south lane goes into the east lane.
There are already signs that they fifteen minutes parking. And then from those points back the other way, there's a lot of curves. There's some no existing no parking that would remain the same. And so for us, I guess, it would be if you guys approve it, we'd have to or repeal that fifteen minute parking ordinance and then draft to do no parking ordinance. So just be some ordinance changes, but fairly simple.
And I guess we would look at I think we were looking at having our city crews paint the parking stalls that they had painted out there a couple of years ago, three paint those after the job. And I we didn't have it in the contract, so the atlas would be pretty pricey. So we were looking at just having our crews do our normal pains and probably put that hatching in there. The only thing I had noted was that I wanna make sure that those diagonals that we put in there are, like, say, maybe six feet apart, that they're too wide as they look like they're parking spaces. So that was the only because one of the drawings I got, I'm like, wow.
Looks like they got angle parking, and that's
not Yeah. It was That was just something I I sketched up.
Yeah. And so as long as those diagonals are, like, say, six feet apart and
that. It's blinking. Where's it going? The the contractor that installed those lights has been out there twice now to replace heads on those light poles that have been doing that, and they're waiting for parts to replace those two that are flickering again now. Yeah. Well, at least now the next time we go that way, and he goes get it.
They know about it. Yeah.
You know, it's they'll take care of it. They're waiting for a park. As soon they get a park, they're gonna come in. Mhmm. We've had them in the past disconnect power for those light poles so that they at least stop flickering, but now I've got two light poles that are kiddie corner from each other that I I'm worried I'd lose too much light in my parking lot by turning them both off. I don't know if there's anybody living in that house. There probably is. I don't know if I was there at them because one of them looks like it's
shooting right there. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, gosh.
