Yellows are pretty sensitive. That was just like that. Just a little puff of air.
All right, so we can call the June Personnel Committee meeting for the City of Manitowoc to order. First item is roll call. All members are present, with the exception of Alder Sitkowitz, who was unable to make it this evening. Next on the agenda is public comment. Is there anyone here from the public who'd wish to comment? Second call. Third call. Anybody online for a public comment?
No.
Any previously submitted public comment?
No.
All right. We will close public comment. Next on the agenda is the consent agenda. Any items that members would like to remove from the consent agenda?
Otherwise, I'll take a motion. Motion to approve the consent agenda. Second. Second.
Motion by Schley, sorry, and second by Beeman. All those in favour, say aye. Aye. Any opposed? All right, motion carries. All right, first item under discussion and action is item 26-0477, request to approve the updated seasonal hiring pay rates for 2026.
Thank you. So this item is our seasonal pay rates. We're adding one new position over in the DPW shop for a seasonal stockroom clerk apprentice. And this is a position that we're going to be kind of transitioning the former youth apprentice into more of a stockroom inventory employee. And we're just hoping to get approval to pay at the range between $16 and $18. I also wanted to point out that there are a couple jobs on here that still need to be updated for the name change between DPI to DPW and Parks and Rec. And we will be working through that during the budget season. And you might see this again this year. But today we'd like to just get approval on that $16 to $18 range for the stockroom position.
All right. Any questions for Jesse? Hearing none, take a motion. Motion to recommend approval. Second. All right. It's been motioned and seconded. Motion by Schley, seconded by Beeman to recommend approval. Any further discussion? All in favor say aye. Aye. Any opposed? Aye. Motion carries. I'm assuming this has to go on a regular agenda, non-consent for, I don't know, pay rates to the consent or non-consent. Anybody know for sure?
That's up to you. I mean, this is something that comes up just about every year, so you can call it usual, but if you want to put it on consent, I don't think that there's any issue with that at all. Very good with consent. All right.
Next item on the agenda is 260478, Resolution to Hire Seasonal Employees Related to Elected Officials, Department Heads, or Supervisory Personnel. Jesse?
And this is a resolution you've seen already this year a couple of times. Every time we hire an employee who's related to a city supervisor or elected official, we do need to pass this resolution and then perform a roll call vote at council. So these are two more employees who are related to an employee, one in our police department and one in our streets DPW department.
All right, any questions for Jesse?
All right, we'll take a motion to approve. Motion to recommend approval.
Second. Oh, he threw one in there. So motion by Schley and second by Benzinger to approve as presented. Any further discussion?
All right, all those in favor say aye.
Aye. Any opposed? So that goes non-consent. All right. Next is 26-0479, Discussion and Possible Action on Aldermatic Compensation.
This is an item that I place on the agenda every year based on a request that was made several years ago by an alder, I don't recall which one. This is an opportunity for you to talk about future aldermanic compensation and if you want to make any changes to that compensation.
Any questions for Jesse? Any discussion that we'd like to have? I have a comment, I guess. At this time, I personally don't think it would be a good idea to discuss it, even to get into a discussion about it, for two reasons. Number one, the economy and the current state of things, not a good time to be asking for a raise. And number two, we just had one not too long ago. You know, maybe if we have a discussion, maybe closer to budget time, we see where things are at. That's just my thoughts. Thank you.
I'll second that. Thank you all.
Agreed. So would we table this then? Place on file?
Yep, place on file. So is that the recommendation is a place, so the motion is placed on file? Yes, thank you. All right, motion by Schley, second by Beaman to place on file. Is it a motion, Attorney Netsch, that the way it's handled?
The file works great, and then it goes right on consent then.
Okay, so the motion is to place on file. Any further discussion? All in favor say aye. Aye. Any opposed? Okay, great. So the next, so do I read the notice right away for this? So the next item on the agenda is item 26S-0481, opening of contract negotiations with Mantua Professional Police Association. So notice is hereby given that the above governmental body may adjourn into a closed session during the meeting as authorized by section 19.85 sub one sub E of the Wisconsin statutes, which authorizes the governmental body to convene in closed session for the purpose of deliberating or negotiating the purchase, public properties the investing of public funds or conducting other specified public business whether competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session the specific matter subject matter that may be considered in closed session is twenty six dash zero four eight one opening of contract negotiations Manitowoc Professional Police Association the motion to convene him in closed session was made by older person and seconded by Beeman A roll call vote will be taken. Alder, Benzinger? Aye. Schley? Aye. Beeman? Aye. Sikowitz is absent. Norrell, aye. All right, we are in closed session. All right, we are back in open session, and so for item 26-0481, we will not be taking any action. So with that said, that exhausts our agenda for today, so I'll take a motion to adjourn. So moved. Second. Motion and second, we are adjourned.
Do you want to talk about the meeting time?
Yeah, let's do that real quick. Are we done? Are we turned off?
Recording stopped.
Okay. So does this time continue to work for the committee, just given the finance follows, so we thought we could move to 5 o'clock? Is that good for you?
Three out of four so far.
And Eric was fine with it too. Okay. So we'll go ahead and forward, just reset our agendas to five.
I'll resend that meeting.
Perfect. Thank you.
