Motion to authorize the hiring of two (2) police officers for the Lower Burrell Police Department.

Motion that City Council authorize the conveyance of approximately 1.63 acres of city-owned property located adjacent to the former Stewart Elementary School property.

This action is taken pursuant to the authority granted to third class cities under the Pennsylvania Third Class City Code, 53 P.S. §37403 (now codified at 11 Pa.C.S. §14703), which permits a city to sell or convey municipal real property and further provides that conveyances to governmental entities, including school districts, may be made without the requirement for competitive bidding. Said conveyance shall be subject to the preparation of a legal description, approval by the City Solicitor, and execution of all necessary documents by the Mayor and City Manager. The conveyance shall further include a provision that if the property is not utilized for the intended purpose of facilitating the redevelopment of the former Stewart Elementary School property, ownership of the property shall revert to the City of Lower Burrell. The conveyance shall also be contingent upon compliance with all applicable subdivision, land development, and other municipal ordinances of the City of Lower Burrell.
