Board of Zoning Appeals - Regular Meeting

Hello and welcome to the Minutes Minute. The February 16th governing body meeting focused on the city's ongoing commitment to increasing safety for all roadway users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and those using eass assisted devices. Council approved moving forward with a reduction to the speed limit on Lee Boulevard from 35 to 30 mph from 81st to 103rd Street. The city then plans to evaluate in six months whether additional adjustments may be needed along that corridor. Council also approved updates to the 83rd Street reconstruction project, which includes wider sidewalks and pedestrian friendly signal upgrades. These improvements were shaped by public input and are designed to make this busy corridor safer and more accessible for everyone who uses it, including those walking and biking to Corinth Elementary School. Council approved moving forward with installing a new traffic signal on 103rd Street at Panee near Brookwood Elementary. This change will help create safer crossings and better traffic flow in the area. It's part of a larger 103rd Street reconstruction project that will reduce lanes along this stretch to create a safer route to school at Brookwood Elementary. And finally, council approved resoning and preliminary plans for the Villas of Chadwick development near 135th Street and Chadwick Street, allowing that project to move on to its next phase in review and design.
