The City of Laredo Mayor and City Council proudly recognizes Kimberly Gonzalez, a three-time regional power lifting champion that won 2nd place at this year's state power lifting meet in the 198 lbs raw division.
The City of Laredo Mayor and City Council proudly recognize 2026 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee Champion Hannah Chavez, a 7th grade student from Elias Herrera Middle School, who will represent her school and the Laredo community on the national stage in Washington, D.C.
Additionally, the Mayor and City Council congratulate finalists Caleb Garcia, a 2nd grade student from San Isidro Elementary School; Maya Jimenez, a 4th grade student from Henry Cuellar Elementary School; and Xixin Pan, a 4th grade student from Nye Elementary School, who placed among the top competitors in a field of 63 participants, in honor of their exceptional academic achievement and accomplishments. Recognizing the Next Level Dance Studio All Stars competed in the Pride Championships in Edinburgh, TX in January 2026 and the United Cheer National Competition in Galveston, TX in March 2026, earning 1st place and securing Grand Champion titles.
The teams brought home two medals and championship jackets in recognition of their outstanding achievements. REC26-30
