Planning & Zoning Commission - Regular Meeting

I would simply like to submit to the dossier a mail that was sent to me last night by the President of the Commission of Urbanism and Zoning of the County of Kootenai, Tamara Bateson. She says that dear President Mattox and dear Commissioner, I write to you as President of the Commission of Urbanism and Zoning of the County of Kootenai regarding our recent hearing on June 25, 2026 on the ORA 26 on the ORA 26003, the residential retreats remain. As you may know, the Commission voted in favor of the approval of these retreats. However, two other members of the Council and myself have since received information that concerns us. Most of the information on this file focused on a particular aspect of this zoning change. However, it was brought to my attention that many residents would be affected by this change of code and, in my opinion, the concerns of these residents have not been dealt with adequately. I think it is in the interest of the Council of Urbanism and Zoning, the BOCC and the residents that the Urbanism Commission and Zoning make proof of a more reasonable diligence. Although I understand that all the results cannot be anticipated in advance, in this specific case, I think we have the opportunity to address this issue in a more in-depth way. I respectfully ask that the ORA 26003 be sent to the Commission for Urbanism and Zoning so that we can examine it more carefully and then submit to you, the BOCC, a better recommended ZTI. It happened last night, after the public hearing. So, I would tend to agree with that, and let them handle the situation if they think that it remains to be fully dealt with. I know you may have read this email. Has she developed her concerns, or those she has received from the public, regarding what should be taken into account? I trust her. Were there any thoughts on this subject within the council?

I would have liked, I mean, there was a month or more for it to be sent. It should have been sent to the entire council and to the community development service. So I think it's a problem.

We have committed expenses on this subject.

I've been dealing with this case for almost eight years now and I think it's a good plan, but I'm sure that Marc will agree with you to send it back to urban planning and zoning.
