County Board meeting to order. Start with the pledge of allegiance. Algiance of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Okay. Get a roll call of supervisors. Now, the new supervisors, I don't know if you've been
just hit yes. And if if those existing supervisors could assist. Is Carol Isol excused? He's supposed to be here.
There are 19 supervisors present. Supervisor Grady Decker Moresy are excused. Supervisor Carol is here.
He just needed an introduction. Okay. Next uh on the agenda is citizens comments. Are there any citizens who'd like to comment? Any citizens who'd like to comment? Any citizens who'd like to comment? Seeing no citizens, citizens comments is over. Uh now's the uh announcements announcement of the chairperson. So I'd like to thank you for the trust and confidence you've placed in me by electing me chairman. It is an honor to serve the community alongside such dedicated colleagues. Uh we're going to go on to the committee assignments. Uh I reduced the size of the committees from seven to five members except for finance administration that is required to maintain seven members. I did this for a few reasons. One for efficiency and speed. Five people are easier to coordinate than seven. Meetings tend to be shorter, discussions more focused and decisions reached faster. With seven, you often get repetit repetition or side conversations that slow things down. Second, clear accountability. In smaller groups, it's harder for individuals to blend into the background. Each member typically has more defined role, which can improve preparation and follow through. I do expect and I hope you expect from yourselves preparation for each of your committee meetings as well as for the regular county board meetings. read the information that you get sent at least review it, summarize it so you have questions ready. Uh when you're prepared, things go along so well it's it's it's night and day. So just be as prepared as you can possibly be. Third to be a lower administrative cost. There are travel costs and staff support with fewer members can mean some savings. And fourth, a stronger cohesion. Small committees often develop better working dynamics and trust which can lead to
more candid discussions and fewer entrenched fractions. Reducing committees from seven members to five is usually about speed, efficiency, and manageability and works best when the committee's role is operational or decision focused rather than just representative. As many chairs have said in the past, the heavy lifting is done in the committees. I worked diligent over the last week in developing the committees. Now, the supervisor I was able to contact with, I heard you, and worked to make committees I thought would be cohesive, respectful, and diligent. I took the process very seriously, and what I worked out was how I see us moving forward together. I am hopeful all of you feel the same way. I'm committed to working collab collaboratively. I can't say it, but that's what I'm working to do. Listening thoughtfully and making decisions that reflect the best interests of our residents. Together, we have an opportunity to build on our strengths and address the challenges ahead with integrity and purpose. I am looking forward to work. We will I am looking forward to work. We will all accomplish it together. And with that, I'd like to welcome Jessica Kamacho, human services, Youth and Governance, and Dylan Hood from Judiciary and Law. Thank you. Uh, last thing on my agenda for tonight, I guess, will be on my announcements tonight would be the chairman's reception. U, I'm going to hold this off until next week. Uh, I Hey, whoever did this in the past or able to do it in two days, God bless you. My god, I couldn't do it. Uh but uh so join me for Cinco de Mayo. Uh after our board meeting next week, the chairman's reception will be held at the
Italian-American Club. Consider this your invitation, but we'll have emails tomorrow. I hope we'll be sent out. Uh just to confirm so I can get a headcount out to them. Uh the sooner you confirm the better. Uh you know, cuz I need to tell them something. So uh and then um I think the other Amanda you gave me just okay with that I will say is there a motion for journing I didn't hear who was first was that Eric
and then Aaron no John okay so Meadows in pool. Okay. All those in favor vote.
