Hello, I'm Colleen Doctrine with Kearney Communications and here's your flash update for the week of June 29th. Our summer activities are in full swing. The Market at the Park is back this Thursday at Lions Park from 4 to 7 p.m. Come out from 4 to 7 p.m. to shop local for more than a dozen fantastic farmers, cottage bakers, and artisans. Go ahead and plan to grab some dinner while you're there, too. We have a great lineup of your favorite food trucks scheduled all summer long. The annual Kearney Fireworks Spectacular is back this Friday, July 3rd, right here at Kearney Amphitheater. Bring your whole family to enjoy a concert by Shiprock, featuring your favorite yacht rock hits. There will also be bounce houses for the kids and plenty of great local food trucks to enjoy before the big fireworks show at dark. The North Park Lane entrance to Mack Porter Park is officially reopened following a successful culvert repair project. We truly appreciate your patience while our Public Works crews worked hard to complete this necessary repair, and we're thrilled to have this key entrance fully accessible again just in time for the busiest part of the park season. It seems like summer just started, but it's already time to start planning for autumn activities. Sign-ups are officially open for Kearney Parks and Rec fall sports leagues. We have a variety of fantastic programs open for registration right now on our website. And we want to make sure your kids get plugged into the right divisions before spots fill up. First up, youth volleyball. Kearney Parks and Rec is thrilled to offer youth volleyball this fall. It's an excellent way for players to have fun and make new friends while learning the fundamentals of the game. To keep things fair and balanced, teams will be assigned to be a random cue to draw, with exceptions for siblings only. Next, Ball T-Ball. This fantastic low-pressure introduction to the diamond for our youngest athletes opened boys and girls ages 4 to 6. It's all about learning the absolute basics, building confidence, and having fun. We also have youth soccer, a staple of our fall lineup. Divisions are broken down by age group, making a wonderful environment for both first-time players learning the game and returning players honing their skills. Youth flag football. This high energy program is open to kids 5 to 14 and offers a great way to learn football fundamentals, teamwork, and strategy in a safe, non-contact format. And finally, martial arts. If you're looking for an activity that builds focus, discipline, and physical fitness, check out the martial arts classes being offered through Parks and Rec this season. Registration for all fall sports is available on our website. You can view age divisions, pricing info, and sign up directly on our website. Just keep in mind, registration ends in early August and teams fill up quickly. So don't wait to secure your child's spot.
