No. No.
Can we have a a motion to approve the minutes?
So moved. Second.
Alright. We have a first and a second. All in favor? Aye.
Aye.
Okay. Citizens have been heard on agenda items. Are there any citizens here that would like to speak on any agenda items? K. I do not see anybody. We will move on to agenda items. Purchase of interior wall painting and sanding services for the fire for Fire Station 1 and Fire Station 9 from Smith Painting Service in the amount of $67,062. Chief?
Yeah. There's a these both these stations, I think their apparatus floors are more than 20 years old of paint. It's dirty, worn. There's a lot of ceiling patches from over the years of whether it need to be patched. So they're gonna do a complete sand down patch and paint. And then we went out, we got three bids. I don't know that they were actually lower, but they were the only ones that were gonna sand it down and do it do what we want so the paint lasts.
Okay. Any questions or comments?
What color?
I don't know. We usually let the station pick the color out. Okay.
Make a motion to approve.
Second. We have a first and a second. All in favor?
Aye.
Okay. Under there's nothing under ordinances and resolutions. Chief, I think this is yours as well. Resolution authorizing the execution of a memorandum of understanding, MOU, between the city of Joliet Fire Department and the east side Joliet fire protection just district. Chief?
Yeah. So, obviously, you guys know how the city is laid out in these weird little areas, and there's certain areas of the city where it's a very long response for us. There's other fire stations nearby that aren't ours that we can't get there. So in East Joliet, it's unique. Those are six to ten minute responses in that area for us or longer and we got the train tracks that that cut Station 3 off. So last year, we met with the unions to try to address the issue. And we we went over the MOU with the unions. Sorry. And they agreed that we wanna be able to get that service there as quick as possible. We're still coming, but we wanna get someone there for fires, cardiac arrest because we know how much that time is important.
So this is our first one with East Joliet, then there's a couple other ones around that we're gonna follow-up with after this. But the intention is that we wanna get quick care to all of our residents in those areas where we're a very long response to.
Okay. Thank you. Any questions or comments?
I have a question about something that came up a few months ago where I can't remember which fire department they wanted to put a firehouse over there by the mall. Whatever happened with that?
Oh, that's still ongoing.
So Still ongoing. Yeah. To what I mean, why? We have one right down the street
from here. And we do auto aid with them already to cover those areas for the kind of the same thing we're doing now for each show that's covered us. We do that already in those areas for playing field. But they We're
right we're right there. It didn't make sense to me.
They have a lot more money than we do. So they guess they they wanna build they from the information we got, they only have about 300 calls in that whole area where our station's right there. We already have an agreement to cover those for them. Mhmm. I'm not sure why they're going after building another station there. But
So it's still in the works or it's on the back
burner? They're they're still pursuing it, but it's it hasn't come through anything yet. So
Okay.
Yeah. It's Okay. That's kind of what we're doing. We're not gonna build the station over here for the couple 100 calls we have, so we're having this agreement instead. It's a much more economical purpose.
Okay. Thank you. Do you have a motion to approve?
So move. Second.
We have a first and a second. All in favor? Aye. Aye. Aye. Resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement with the county with the county of Will for the placement of license plate reading cameras located on county highways. Chief Evans.
Yes. We're entering into agreement with the county to put flock cameras on their roadways. No different than what we're doing in the city, Joliet, or other municipalities are doing in their municipalities. Just in the unincorporated areas, we're working into an agreement so that we all can be in the same network.
Okay. Are these already purchased or the cameras? Yes. Okay. And can you just briefly talk, it's been in the news. People are talking about it. What what what does the city of Joliet do with the data?
Well, we don't we don't distribute the data nor does flock flock. That data is law enforcement sensitive data, so it remains property of the city of Joliet. So it's not something that general citizens can tap into or anything like that. There is some version of flock that can be used in the private sector, but they don't get law enforcement data off that. They don't they it's minimal access. Okay. So it's not something where you can just tap into where that information is disseminated to the the the greater public. Okay.
So will they be able to we'll be able to work with the county? We'll be able to view the footage?
Yeah. If if we're in the same network, it's it it helps a lot so that we can we can view that footage. The the the great thing about Flock is every major case that we've worked on in this city since I've been here, FLAC has played an instrumental role in helping us catch the offenders. Okay. So it's it's a it's an amazing tool. When I got here, I think we had 60 little over 60 FLACs citywide. Now we have almost a 100. Okay. So
Any questions or comments? Councilwoman? Nope. Okay. Do we have a motion to approve?
Move to approve.
Second. We have a first and a second. All in favor? Aye. Aye. Okay. Lastly, resolution requesting authorization to enter into a regular 2025 justice assistance grant intergovernmental agreement between the city of Joliet and Will County.
Yeah. That's the BJA grant. It's the the JAG grant we get every year. So it's just a redundant agreement where they give us essentially grant money from the federal government to do pretty much whatever we want with in the police department.
Okay.
Again, any questions or comments? Okay. We have a motion to approve. So move. Second. Okay. All in favor? Aye. Aye. Okay. New or old business, not for final action or recommendation. Does anybody have any
Well, isn't this our last meeting with our chief? Trader. Or should I say, JAG?
I could still keep coming if you want. I just won't be the chief anymore. Well,
I just hope that you're not a stranger.
I won't. I won't. Trust me. Okay.
Thank you for all your service, all the time you put in. You didn't get paid nearly enough for everything you have done for this city, protecting the waterways, and making sure all that is done. I just cannot thank you enough for everything that you do for all of us up here and the residents.
I appreciate that. Thank you.
Thank you.
Chief, yeah, I just wanna follow-up. Thank you for all you did for the citizens of Joliet, for the council mayor. You did a great job. Everybody was right. The the county, guys that you work with, I spoke to them, and they spoke so highly of you,
and and and it and
it was true. So you're a great man, and you did a great job here.
So I appreciate it very much. It will be bittersweet. Trust me.
Yeah. So thanks for everything you did. Thank you.
I'll bring the hankies.
Alright. Public comment. Would anybody like to make a public comment?
Who's in our audience? Alright.
Probably a good call. Motion to adjourn.
So moved. Second.
Alright. We have a first and a second. All in favor? Aye.
