Any old business tonight?
I just want to give a shout out to former alderman Erin Williams and the great work that she did with the citywide garage sale there. I had a garage sale and there were lots and lots of people who came to Jacksonville and that were everywhere and also want to thank the Jacksonville Police Department. I know you got numerous telephone calls. I saw you in our neighborhood, the police department in our neighborhood. We appreciate you and thank you for all your officers who helped make that happen. And that's it.
Thank you. Any other old business?
Any new business tonight?
I know I've got one item, but Rob?
Just a reminder of the Juneteenth celebration that is being put on by the NAACP. It is going to be on June the 20th. It's a celebration that will be taking place downtown on the square.
Very good. June 20th?
June 20th. The time is 1030 to... Hold on, I'm sorry, y'all. 1030 to 230. Okay.
very good and then our concerts series starts this Friday night main streets just one item under new business for me if you have not had the opportunity I would encourage quite frankly everyone in the room to pick up the phone or just go out there and check out what the committee of the Western Illinois Youth Camp has done to that facility. I know it's years in the making and I know Big Bob Large started the project oh boy it's been probably at least 15 years ago that he really took a interest because of a program at Kiwanis and he's like boy this is for me and he got the ball rolling on a lot of it but now this committee and he's still part of it don't get me wrong but they've added to this committee out there and they've really done some really great things they're always looking for extra too. I mean, you know, like everything. Their crunch is money. And we'll do what we can as a city. It's not, you know, we lease the property to them, but it is city property. And if you go there and check out what they've done as far as the banking, what they look like, and the kids' activities they provide is incredible. Also, all the activities they have, And they, you know, one of the showcase was how they showed me how we've helped out in other ways by the small things like a tree spade to grab some of the taller mature trees to relocate them. to help them with what they're doing in the forestry area but it will also in turn bring those in and help our parks and then where we choose to put those trees but i can't really do it justice speaking over a microphone from where it was from when I first became mayor 17 years ago to where it is now and the cooperation and the organization of that group led by the charge of JJ Richardson and I think most people are familiar with that name Richard Freeman and his wife I could go on and on about the committee, but you've got some movers and shakers that really move it and They're doing some things they've been working with big announcements to come and you know quite frankly we're we're gonna I'll bring probably be bringing some stuff to the council just to keep you in the loop and and if we're gonna help them on this any way we can infrastructure wise or just little jobs of our use taking a truck out to help with things We'll do that. So make that a point sometime. Get a hold of JJ. He's ready for your call. And shoot out there during the day or evening and go check out Western Illinois Youth Camp. It'll be worth it.
Sorry. Yeah, sorry. That's really exciting stuff. Can't wait to check it out. But Erin reminded me also just the citywide cleanup is going to be this week also coming up on the first. So I'm super excited about that. And I wanted to say thank you. These are very nice recognitions.
How many years is that? Go ahead.
15. Yes. Yeah, that's what I thought. Thank you. That's awesome.
Okay. Any other new business? I appreciate you hanging in with me, Gary and Bridget, at the other event and the council and the folks that showed up and just have a great week. And I need, any others? Motion to adjourn by Alderman Henry, seconded by Alderman Speed.
We are adjourned.
