Hillsboro is thrilled to accept the gold star in water from Sustainable Jersey. This gold star is Hillsboro's second with the gold star in health received in 2024. So there are almost 500 municipalities in New Jersey that participate in sustainable Jersey. 180 of those have met our standards for becoming sustainable Jersey certified. There's only 60 of those that are at the highest level of certification and Hillsboro is one of those 60 and there are only five that have achieved one of our gold stars and there's only one that has achieved two gold stars and that is Hillsboro. So I just want to say it's a tremendous accomplishment. It's a sign of good government, good leadership from volunteers, um, excellent capacity and support from the staff, and I just want to say congratulations, and I'm so impressed with what you've achieved.
Hillsboro has also been named one of the top 10 safest towns in New Jersey for 2026 by security technology company Uffy and Riolink, ranking 10th and fifth, respectively. I want to extend a huge congratulations to the Hillsboro High School boys swim team. They are the boys state section champs, sectional champs for the sixth year in a row. So that's awesome. I also want to give a big shout out to the girls wrestling team who brought home the conference championship title in their very first year as a program. And finally, we would be remiss if we didn't congratulate the girls track and field team who are also state sectional champions. You all make Hillsboro very proud and we can't wait to see the future holds for you amazing athletes. Planning Zoning uh has selected Rehabco Incorporated as the new administrative agent for the local affordable housing program. Uh applicants for rental and ownership opportunities are now available online and households must submit a pre-application be placed on the wait list. The health department strongly recommends that residents with potable wells consider testing their water for PIFA. Well, owners uh whose water exceeds drinking water standards may be eligible for free filtration, public water connections, or testing cost reimbursements. Please contact the health department directly to learn about these resources and eligibility requirements.
Hillsboro is hiring. Please see tomorrow's e-news for a list of available opportunities to join us. Hillsboro Township again expresses our very deep gratitude to our awesome first responders, offices of emergency management, um, PSCG for the tireless work in managing the underground gas fire um, that was on Milstone River Road.
