I didn't like to call the order of the parks board meeting for March 23rd. Uh Mr. Bennett going to have our opening prayer.
Got it. Everybody please bow your heads. Heavenly Father, we thank you for this wonderful and glorious day. Thank you for this beautiful weather that you've given us. Thank you for the people here uh in the attendance today. We ask that you please bless us and each and everyone. Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. Mr. Clark, will you lead us to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you, sir. I said that all day.
No. Good. I'll need a motion to accept the agenda as it is. Mr. Pike was first. Mr. Head was second. All in favor say I. I. If you've had a chance to look over the old minutes, I need a Mr. Mr. Head number one. And Mr. Pike number two, I'm sorry, Miss Helman. I'm sorry. Uh, all in favor say I. I. All oppose. Are there any comments, young man? Uh, no, sir. Young man, thank you. God, I love you. Items for approval. Eagle Scout Project. Miss Hullman. Oh, minutes.
Oh, I'm sorry. I don't So, I didn't see that there. I will need a motion to accept the minutes. I'll move. Mrs. Rather, second with Miss Hullman. All in favor say I. All oppose. Sorry, Mr. Gilly. No public comments. Uh, first one, Eagle Scout Project. Miss Hullman. press the little or the little button. Press state your name and tell me what you need before you say anything. I am so proud of you. Thank you.
Uh I so appreciate the way that that you're doing this. It is it's one of the more enlightening things that Hendersonville has to have. So now that I've made your head all big and you can't get out the door, state your name and tell me what you need. I am Emily Hullman and I'm a life scout with Troop 47 and I am here to propose an Eagle Scout idea for Drakes Creek Park. I would like to build double benches for the for field five dugouts. We just got new turf and I would like to like uplift the benches, make uh the field even nicer. And on my presentation, I have what the metal bunches look like now. And then a picture from the uh baseball the bench. I would like to match them and it would make our field look a little nicer on top of the new turf we just got. I don't have the exact parameters, but um those are the like approximate parameters. I would like to build them. Um, I've been playing softball for a long time and I play for Hendersonville High School softball team. So, those benches have taken a lot of heat and um, I would like to upgrade them and they would make it easier to see over the tall fence. And then, like I said, it would just look nicer with the wooden benches.
Okay. You're just way yonder or too nervous. Yeah, the guys that smile. Uh, yes, sir. We have a question. All right. Is this going to be just for the uh Hendersonville home dugout? Are you going to do for both dugouts? Both dugouts. Good. Because I didn't want, you know, I got some station campers at my place. So, we like to have the visiting side pretty pretty well treated, too. So, this looks great. I'm excited for this for you. Motion to approve. Motion. Oh, hold on a second. Miss P. Oh, okay. I've got motion approve of Mr. Pike. Second, Mr. Bennett. Any more discussion? All in favor say I. All oppose. You done good. Thank you.
Will you Will you Will you do this? Will you come back and show us some pictures? Everybody doesn't go on that field. I'd really like to see I will. I see you play softball. You can hit the ball, can't you? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you, man. That's right. Thank you. Good job. Uh, Robert Adcock suspension appeal. Mr. Adcock,
State your name for the record, sir.
My name's Robert Adox. Uh about a year and a half ago, I was I was at the ballpark here at Drake's Creek and uh there was altercation, just an argument between three guys that approached me and well, in the long run, I ended up picking up the phone, called them, said I had a knife and they took me to jail with no proof or nothing and they ended up get making me plea plea uh plea plea deal or whatever. My lawyer did, but they have yet to have a video of me with a knife. I'd never pulled a knife on nobody. I have a set of keys that I carry on my pants that double clasp with a big set of and when I started to my truck right here, their truck was over here. I started my truck and they kept following me and kept following me, kept following me. And I thought, I'm get my keys, get in the car. So, I got my keys and I turned around and they just kept on and then this one over here just run into. So, I formed him and said, you know, just leave me alone. So I went to the truck and they followed me to the truck. Then when I got in my truck, went this way, they was here coming back this way. And I still they still don't have they got video of a whole thing, but they never seen me with a knife. And I was banned from the parks before I was found guilty. I've missed a year and a half of my grandbaby playing ball. And I just I don't think it's right. I didn't do that. And I was punished before I was found guilty. And then up here in their court, I was wasn't found guilty, but I took a plea. It done cost me $8,000. And they still hadn't proved me wrong, but they took me out of the park. So, I'm just asking to get back in the parks, watch my grandson play ball. Two other guys don't even they don't even go there no more. I don't know who they are. Didn't never know their name. I just It blew up. And all you got to do, I'd pick up the phone, have every
one of y'all rested. That's all it is, a phone call. Can I just ask a question while you're Yes, sir. What's this? Was a youth baseball game that y'all got to pussing over? Oh, it wasn't at the at the field. It was out in the park in the parking lot. Well, reading the thing here says y'all were at the concession stand. No, we walked past the concession stand. We wasn't doing it. Wasn't nothing going on. There's a bunch of stuff in there that you can read. It ain't true. It's something about I had a domestic assault. Swear all my life I've never touched one of know my families. Never in my life and won't never. So I don't know where you get the information. But that's incorrect. But the information I'm just reading off the police report.
Yeah. Well, they don't tell it all. It is, you know, but I did not do what I was accused of doing. And they still got videos and cannot prove. They didn't. No proof that no shows nothing that I had in my hand. But they stuck it because them guy, one of them people said I had one. That's all it takes. I mean, I can pick up the phone and call and say, "One of y'all done it." You're going to jail. It's a bad law. And when this is over, I'm going to somebody to try to get it changed. It's caused a lot of problems to a lot of people. And I I'm in the middle of it cuz I did not do it. And there's proof to show that I didn't. In my mind, until it's proven, I don't think we should vote on it one way or the other. Till it gets proven. You said you're taking this to another step.
No, I'm just going to try to get that law changed. Just talk to somebody, senator, somebody.
One of my biggest concerns that I have is that, and again, according to the police report, there were threats made. Uh there were threats of violence made. Uh, and that that that gets me because Mr. Mr. Perry's already said it. First and foremost, in my opinion, uh, we ought to be loving on kids no matter what. And no matter what the decisions umpires do or what a coach does, uh, it don't matter. And that's what we're sitting up here for, uh, is being fair. and it it there's just a unwritten guideline that's there and I don't have a vote so I can say but I'm just saying you you in my opinion you passed that guideline and uh like Forest Gump that's all I got to say about that anybody else
I've been in ballpark since I was 10 years old and I've never ever I mean all the way to my grown day I've never my kids played ball I never had a word with nobody. These boys, please believe me, these boys just took it upon yourself to pick up a phone call and make a phone call. You can get anybody in trouble. I swear to you, I can pick up the phone call and get anybody I want in trouble. And it's going to cost you money, make you look like a bad person, but I ain't a bad person. I'm sure you're not. You know, I'm sure you're not.
And I was false I'm falsely accused is what it is by this Sar County courthouse up here. just as a just as a byproduct of what we're talking about here several years ago, uh I operated a youth baseball league and I had to do the same thing to one of my coaches uh that that happened to you and she did the same thing you did. She acted in a moment which is unfortunate. Uh, and I she was a nice lady and and she was a friend, but I told her just like I'm telling you, uh, I'm I am concerned for the well-being of the park system.
And and you seem like a nice guy. You do. You seem like a nice guy. about it. But I just in my opinion, again, don't have a vote, but in my opinion at this time, I think you can probably you can probably uh uh uh you know, you can probably appeal your suspension at a later date. I don't know that Mr. Gilly can answer that. I don't know that, but I've I've already said too much. These people hadn't said enough, so I'm going to shut up. But uh do you want me to answer that? Sure. So, Miss Mr. Adcock is currently suspended indefinitely. That's what the letter says.
He's welcome to come up. If you all feel tonight that you want to lift that, then that's what we'll do. If you don't tonight and he wants to come at a later date, if he's got something that says I didn't do this or I'm cleared or the law changes or whatever, then we he can come as many times as he want. There's nothing that says that. That's um that's that's where we are. I mean it is he he's got all he was given all the information that you all were given. The same packet I emailed to him that I emailed to you all that had all the reports and then what the the plea of where he where he pled to lesser charges at the Sar County. So, and one of those one of those charges, I swear on my life, the guy never got closest from here to that wall. And how he got a assault charge on me, I don't know, but the cop let him do it. And I promise you, you look at the video, he didn't he was that far from all of the commotion.
Mr. Adcast, I'm just going by the information that I have here. Do I understand that you have prior assault charges long when I was young? Yes, ma'am. Okay.
When I was young, I mean, I I don't know many old country boys that don't fight when they're young. That's just a way of life in the country. Not up here in the city. You seem to be rooted in the situation that you're innocent of these things. And as I can see, it's my opinion. I can see we're probably not going to okay it tonight, but uh you seem so convicted that you're innocent. Maybe some maybe some affidavit, maybe some whatever from people other than other than you or somebody that was there. I don't know that. I'm just I'm trying to give you an avenue to get back.
I'm just I'm don't mean to be short or nothing. And I just I've went for I've dealt with this for a year and a half. I've not seen my grandson play ball. And I'm my head and heart and I know I did not do this. Okay. And I and it just it hurts, man. Not see my grandson. He's 9 years old not to get see him play ball. I'll sit in a park a parking lot or the outfield. It don't bother me. I just I just want to go see him play. Well, something Mr. Gilly just said is very important. You're welcome. come back anytime with any new whatever. Uh, and these are good people up here. These are good people, good, honest people. And I I I trust what they say. Yes, Miss Perry.
I I just like to make a motion that we don't approve at this time. You get back with some literature that says this doesn't didn't happen. We have to kind of I'm I'm not a lawyer. I'm just a volunteer at the park. Uh, and I don't approve of anybody fussing at the park. Not saying he did, but uh, I'm not a lawyer. I'm not a judge. I just say until that comes about that you said you can get this proven that you did not do it, I'm going to have to say one remark made that somebody starting at the concession stand. That was me close because they talked, if you read a little further, they asked them in the concession stand. They said they didn't know nothing about it.
Yeah. I have I've been in that con I've been in all these concession stands. You can't hear anything out there. They got air conditioning. They got grills. That's why I say everything agreed there ain't ain't right on me. Ain't no the ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar ar arguing's over with. Well, I'm not going to do that. I'm just we've given you the parameters here, but I have a motion and a second. And a second from Miss Rathert. Uh is there any more discussion? Anything else you need to say? No, sir. Okay. All in favor say I. All oppose again. Sir, you're welcome. come back. And we ain't got to I mean, I'm just I'm looking out for my kids. Well, I am, too. It's just the Thank you, sir. The kids got me in trouble.
All right, buddy. All right. Uh, Bistera Soccer, Mr. Mata. He's very small.
Okay. Oh my. We will we will label that down on the F and see if he comes back. All right. KW Car's costume 5K. Mr. Skidmore. Don't know why people run 5K. Don't have to. Somebody's state your name. Good to see you all today. My name is Charlie. I'm just I'm just showing you how lazy I am. I just told him I don't know why anybody run 5K without having to. But anyway, you go ahead. Well, you could walk it as well. That's also an option. You would do that. State your name. Tell us what you need, brother.
I'm Charlie Skidmore. I am a realtor with Keller Williams Realy. Uh I'm on a member of the associate leadership committee for our market center. Um we have a committee uh that is dedicated to events and community that I'm the chairman of that or um the person who leads that committee. So what we want to do is we want to put together an event that is going to be community related uh and be able to source that throughout the community and also through our agency. So, one of the things that we were thinking about doing was doing a fund run and just getting our agents involved and our family involved and reaching out to our friends and family through that. We want to expand that. We wanted to take it into a 5K and do a costume run in October.
That's frightening. That's frightening. It's kind It can be scary, especially since people are going to be running away from something, you know. So, uh it it kind of depends what those costumes are going to look like.
Gotcha. Uh I' we haven't done a 5K to the best of my knowledge. Uh it's something that we haven't put together before. I have not hosted a 5K before. Uh but I am um dedicated to be able to follow all the parameters to be able to make that happen uh through working with you and look working with local run clubs as well, finding what the best track is going to be. Uh, from what I've determined, the best one would be coming from Mary's Magical Place and potentially running through uh, Drake's Creek and then back. Um, that would keep us off of the soccer fields at that time, but we would be early enough before all the soccer games are going to be taking place anyway. U, we have two uh, nonprofits. One is the Kell uh, they're both KW Cares. One is national, one is local. Uh the local one is uh a not for-profit. We do not currently have uh a 501c3. Is that correct? Uh for the local. However, uh we have always used that uh that not for profofit for helping out the community. We do things like Red Day where we take that day and we spend the day with all our agents and we go out to the community to help um you know rebuild gazeos. We've gone to houses and we've redone the entire donations go to that. Uh there's been relief funds back when there was flooding out towards Waverly. We've gone and helped out with blankets and pillows and things like that. Uh other things that we are willing to do is help out with our our internal agents and their families. Let's say somebody has cancer where you know we help out that agent in those harder times. So these funds would be held separately. It wouldn't go to the agents uh directly and their families. it would be held for the community and community related um
situations. The uh the funds primarily will be sourced towards buying shirts um and putting the um putting the whole fundrais excuse me the uh the event together. So, we want to be able to help out that event. Um, and then any funds remaining would go towards that um that not for profofit so that we could help out the community. We're very community oriented and that would be the number one goal. Still, are there any logistical problems, infrastructure problems?
Can I ask a question before we go to Andy? Uh, since you said you're going to start at Mary's, you will have to cross over the road there between Sam's and behind the behind Five Guys. Five Guys. Yeah. My place. Okay. So, you would have to cross a major road. Well, it's not major, but you'll have to work that out with the police officers, making sure they can block that off at that time. I mean, we'll help busy. We'll help we'll help make that happen. Okay. All right. Yeah. any any way anything I have to do. Yeah. Uh and if there's a better track that is going to be more suited to that, we're open to that as well. No, that's a good one to start at. No, that's okay.
We we'll be we'll be able to help you with that. Just work with Natalie. She'll get you in contact with people that hire the offduty police officers to work those things. Okay. Um, as far as the costumes, uh, if that's too freaky, please make them not wear mask and not brandish a fake weapon of any type. Pertinent to today's meeting. Um, that makes a lot of sense.
But I do want to let y'all know KW Cares has had their red day in the park before where they've come out and done cleanups for us and done things. So, um, it's kind of a tricky situation because the national KW Cares is a 501c3. The local KW Cares is kind of where they keep money here locally and use it in like a doing business as account. So, I'm I'm I'm comfortable with it. I know that KW Cares will keep the money in the community. Yeah. Got it, Mr. Black. Since we're doing it that way and there's not going to be anything given back to one of our organizations and I agree with what you're saying, do we need to put it in a form of a motion to wave that?
Well, no. No. I mean, the application is set up so that it can go to a local nonprofit. Not doesn't have to be a park group necessarily, just a local. It just has to be a local with an address in Hendersonville. Obviously, Keller Williams has a Hendersonville office. So, I I think they're covered here. I think we're good on the date and they'll have to work with if you're going to go all the way much into soccer at all, you'll have to work with Dallas and Natalie on the the time frame. Yeah, I'm going to share with them how bodies do theirs. They start over at Veterans and I think it's a pretty good path. And also on the application, you will say see two dates. Um I told him October 10th would work better
for us and October October 10th going to be way better. Yeah. October 10th is the 17th and he does know that. Yeah. I hear a motion to approve. Mr. Bennett, Mr. Pike with a second. Any more discussion? All in favor say I. All oppose. You're done. Good. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, sir. Appreciate you very much. Tennessee music pathways marker and point. Amen. Amen. Amen. Yes. Amen. Okay. Um thank you.
Amen.
Pretty unique uh situation here. Also, we are u blessed in Hendersonville to have several Tennessee Music Pathway markers already. We have been given one for Johnny Cash, Taylor Swift, Lifty, Lefty, Friselle, and um the Isaac's at Veterans Park. Um, we have several more in the queue. Obviously, I just named a lot of names and there's more names we could think of. The Tennessee Music Pathways is a program through the state tourism office where they are on a mission to put one one of these markers in every county in Tennessee. And so, the fact that we have so many already speaks highly of Andersonville. They publish it. People actually follow follow the path. They get their picture made at the markers, all those type things. Uh, this summer will be the 40th anniversary of Randy Travis's first album that he recorded in the building, which is now Moby Dickies, that for years was called Morning Star Sound Studio. Um, Dan Seals also recorded all of his songs there. Longtime Hendersonville resident. Uh, but Randy Travis recorded his first album. That's the 40th anniversary. So on June the 2nd there will be a um little celebration there. This pathway marker will be installed hopefully if you all approve it. And then we have further a request to name a little portion of the property there right where the wooden bridge kind of ends and you go where you you know you kind of the the pro tip park in the pavement walk over the wooden bridge to Moby Dickies. There's a little piece of land that they would like to call Point Amen after the song forever and ever amen as that studio was the first place where that song was sung by Randy Travis. So this has been through the state tourism office. It's coming to you all for a recommendation. Um you can your mo a motion here would be appropriate to
approve the placement of the pathway marker and recommend that Bulma approve the naming of point Amen. That is how that will work. Uh this has to go to a facilities naming committee and then to Bulma for the naming of the point. So any questions I will take it. I think I did the best I could there. You're done. I don't have any questions, but I will say as since Morning Star was one of the first places I got to work when I moved here to Hendersonville, Tennessee, I would like to make a motion just as Andy iterated previously. You don't want to restate it?
No, I'm not couldn't remember that all at once. And what I want to do is making time is making a motion to approve the Tennessee music pathway marker. Yes. And that Bulma recommendation to that Bulma approve the naming of point Amen. What he said what he said. Second. Mr. Perry qu uh discussion. Thank you. All in favor say I. All oppose. Mark your calendar for June 2nd. Amen. Oh no. No. As a record promoter.
Oh. All right. Under updates, Miss Hamlin. Oh, surprised you there. Recreation coordinator. You are I won't make you state your name.
Thanks. Um, registration for Raptors baseball is going on right now. They can register through April 3rd. Um, they have to keep in mind when they register, they can pick baseball or kickball or both. As I've said before, I would suggest that they all pick both so they can try both and see if they like it because they're going to pay one fee for the baseball, one for the kickball or one fee for baseball and kickball as far as that goes. Uh season will start around April 10th and then kickball will follow that. Um trying to schedule get the schedule finalized soon. We're going to adjust it a little bit because I sent out some uh a request from some of the parents to see if they thought we need to make any changes because I've been hearing that some people think it's not enough games and people think it's too many games. And so we're going to try to hit a happy medium there. So what we might do is play like some Friday nights and on Saturdays and not have quite as many games so that you know and it is hard. What I've noticed is if they come on Friday night, a lot of times they don't make Saturday morning. But the problem with not doing any Friday nights is there are some that can only play on Friday nights. So if I kick Friday night out of the host schedule, then there'll be some that won't even have the opportunity to participate. Uh the special needs Easter egg hunt is Thursday, March 26th. We have three different sessions. Session one is begins at 3:30. Session two is at 4:30. Session 3 is at 5:30. Currently, I have 20 in session one, 30 in session two, and 15 in session three. It is located at Mary's Magical Playground at Veterans Park. We have had signs already posted saying that it's going to be closed that day. So, uh, those who are allowed in the playground must be pre-registered to be a part of the Easter egg hunt. No siblings will be allowed in the egg hunting area, but a parent can go in with them. and just want to say that you
know we are closing it for that day. We always have people showing up that say they don't know that it's been announced at the parks board meeting already. It's there are signs over there. So just thanks for those who uh understand that in advance. Kids club registration we will start on April 13th. April 13th, 14th and 15th will be reserved for those who attended this uh special needs camp last year and plan on returning beginning April 16th. All remaining spots will be open to the first come, first serve until they're all filled. This is our special needs exceptional community. Uh the camp will begin on June 8th and go to July 16th. We go Monday through Thursday each week. They bring their own lunches and snacks daily. Just want to put out there for those who parents who are thinking about putting them in there, they need to be potty trained. our we use Whiten Elementary, but we do not have a setup that we can go in and be changing adult people. So, um, if they have any questions, they can either contact me at the parks department or email me at c hamlin.org. And then I will begin taking applications for summer program employment beginning April 20th. That will be probably working from June 1st to July 16th. So, we have a week to set up and get everything going. Any questions?
Done quite well, ma'am. Thank you. Recreation Supervisor, Miss Bicker Stout, I won't ask you to state your name.
Okay. Um, summer T-ball and adult summer basketball registrations officially went live today. As of now, we have 21 kids registered for T-ball. And based on that early response, we anticipate the league filling up fairly quickly. Um, we're also just two weeks away from kicking off our adult kickball, adult softball, and adult pickle ball leagues. This season, we have a strong turnout. We have 12 teams combined in our AMB divisions, five teams in our co-ed division, and five teams in kickball and 10 teams right now in pickle ball. Um, we're excited to get these leagues started and are looking forward to a great season for all of them.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Special events, Miss Langster. Thank you, chairman. Um, this past weekend out at Sanders Ferry, yesterday actually, uh, the community Easter event that you guys approved last month, um, they had a really good turnout. It was really big and she wanted me to tell all of you thank you. Um, it it was really nice for our community. Um some events we have coming up in April. Um next weekend, April 4th, the First Baptist Easter egg hunt will be out at Sanders Ferry. Uh April 15th is the Kona Ice Chill Out Day that you all also approved last part board. Um and then the 25th is the master gardener uh plant sale out at Memorial. And that is all I have for now.
Did very well, Ben's baby. All right, parks maintenance, Mr. Cole.
Yes, sir. Thank you. We um we're kind of getting back in the swing of our routine now with the mowing, weed eating, and everything. So, we're trying to wrap up a few projects. Um we were able to finish out the turf field and the LED light projects. Those are completely done now. Um we were able to get the last set of lights commissioned on Friday. So, that that project is done and it's been great so far. Um, we're still working out at Country Hills. You know, we we renovated the kitchen out there. So, they measured for countertops today and we should be wrapping up in the next couple weeks out there and that should be the last big project of the year out there. So, that'll be great. Uh, last week we had playgrounds deep cleaned. So, we're kind of getting in the swing of that and and going through and doing the inspections on those and everything. So, but other than that, we're just back to mowing,
which is quite important. Distance director, Mr. Long,
thank you. Uh, this past weekend was the opening weekend of games for rec soccer. U, we hosted over a 100 games on Saturday. Uh, so that was a good good day for soccer. Um, middle school and Tennessee night soccer has been ongoing. They're in the middle of their seasons right now. And then the adult soccer league will begin next Wednesday night. Um, this past weekend was also the opening weekend of flag football games. We had 40-ish games out there at the rugby complex yesterday afternoon. Um, and then this coming weekend, we have a huge rugby tournament Friday, Saturday, and Sunday out at the rugby complex with some high level rugby if anyone wants to check that out. That's it.
Thank you, sir. Question. Assistant director, Mr. Bruce. Thank you, young man. Uh fast pitch practices uh have started. Uh we're going to start games in a couple weeks for the local fast pitch league. The middle school league, which Mr. Bennett is a number one fan of,
has seen a couple cold nights and got to play. But yes, uh they're ongoing playing right now as we speak. And they play Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week doing a little makeups. Uh CS baseball, the local leagues have started games. Uh the open league has already started games couple weeks ago. Uh middle school baseball is ongoing doing a couple makeups this week. Also, uh beach and Hendersonville softball and Hersville baseball is ongoing through their season. Couple weeks into their regular season. Uh this weekend we have uh game seven baseball. This weekend we've had probably the first five have been softball and it's been a long long time since we've played about six weekends without rain. I can't remember the last I mean we had to move some stuff around and but Jimmy loves it for the concession stands that he uh has had six weekends of play. And then uh last but not least, the senior men and not the oldest maybe maybe the oldest uh the senior men start March 31st on the Tuesday night league and then the other league or start in April. Thank you Mr. Chairman.
You're welcome part Mr. Gilly.
Thank you Mr. Chairman. Um obviously tonight After this meeting at 6:15, we have our parks wall of fame ceremony. Uh you can see by the room here, Natalie's done a good job getting everything uh ready and for that. And uh you know, we want to publicly congratulate for the 15 or so watching on TV here. Uh Mr. Ernie Harris, who um was our tennis director for a long time here. Uh Tony Magic Jackson who was a referee and umpire for many years. Uh Christy Lewis Anglia who was a special event supervisor for the city when that first position first started. Uh Greg Mitchell with the lacrosse club who worked for many many years getting lacrosse off the ground. And then we have Mr. Robert Bubba Perry as a hall a wall of fame inductee tonight and Mr. Ken Hess. Um all welld deserved and we wish you all congratulations. Looking forward to this little event here tonight. No crying is allowed. Okay. Just letting you know ahead of time, myself included.
Yeah, Dallas.
Um the parks were packed all weekend from from Sanders Ferry to Memorial to the Greenways to the lake to the Drake's Creek to volunteer to veterans all the way to Rugby. I' I've never It's been a long time if this has ever been that many people from park to park. We've had huge things go on individually, but I've I've not quite seen anything like that. So, this is a sign of what's coming. We're going to have a a full house all summer, um, spring and summer. I've had multiple texts today from people saying, "Man, the parks were packed this weekend." I'm like, "Yeah, I know. I was there." Um, I had to I give y'all continued impact on things. This is a simple story, but there was a lady who drove all the way from Murersboro for her son to use the wheelchair swing at Mary's Magical Place.
So that, you know, things like that are going on. Even when we've got thousands of people in the parks, we have simple things like that that our parks are bringing to Hendersonville. Um, project updates. I don't know, Jason, if you can grab that graphic real quick. This might save me some time. You all can see on your screen in front of you, a long list of projects. Trevor mentioned the first two that are completed, lights in the turf fields. Those are working great. And then just going down the list, Sanders Fairy Greenway marking. That's we're about to put trail posts out and stickers in zones and and kind of maps of the greenway to help our first responders know where to go if something happens or help people know where they are on the greenway there. our maintenance building. Uh we bid the whole project out at once and that didn't really work. So, we're going kind of um back to build bidding it out in sections of actual trades, which I think will be a lot better for the city and for us. Uh it's kind of weird, but that will help us. Trevor mentioned the renovations at Country Hills. Got a lot going on there. Heritage Park uh project went out to bid today and I've already had 10 emails from contractors wanting the bids, so I don't think we're going to have a problem getting bids on that. bike pump track is with T deck waiting on them to approve our winning bidder there. Uh and then the rest of them are kind of just coming up as we go. Our parks master plan as of this morning we had 888 people take the survey. Uh when we did it 5 years ago we had 1,400. So we we want to we're going to keep it open for a month. Uh we want to try to get our goal is to get to 2,000. That's our goal. So anybody can help share that or make make people take it. That will be helpful. Um, and then a lot of paving projects on that list and our down at the bottom our potential 2026 LPRF projects. Uh, that grant application is setting on go, ready to hit the send button as soon as we get a couple more documents. So, if anybody has any questions on any projects, I'll take them.
Just want to make a statement real quick. The the turf fields look fantastic and uh, thank you. Great shape and great for the park system. Yes. Thank you, sir. You're welcome. That's all, Mr. Chairman. Thank you, sir. Any more questions? All right. Roundt, Mr. Head, uh, a lot of compliments on the turf fields at Bets over the weekend and in the past couple of weeks. And then just congratulations to all the nominees and, uh, inductees into the wall of fame today. Mr. Pike,
I will uh, second what Jimmy said. Congratulations all inductees. Every one of y'all that are inducted is welld deserved and I'm proud to share a wall with y'all. Oh boy. Well, I'm taking yours down though. I just want to say I wish years ago we'd had the turf and the lights that you have now. I would not have as many errors that I had back when I was uh so there should be an asterk out there next to that. But uh thanks the the the fields are just incredible. They look great and I really can't wait to play on one of them. It's poor carpenter that blames his tools, you know.
Yes. Congratulations, Bubba and Ken. Welld deserved. And everyone else, I I still think there should be some sort of recount on a couple people on this board um on this wall of fame. But since they did slide through, congratulations, gentlemen. Welld deserved. I've known y'all for years and can't think of two better guys to do it. Um, and Parks team, y'all are doing great. Y'all got a lot coming up. So, good luck. And, uh, we're going to help. Ken's going to help you. Yes, indeed. In my mind. Yes, indeed. Miss Miss Rather,
congrats to all the inductees. And yes, I was in the parks this weekend. I can attest they were packed. It was I saw pickle ball and kids playing and the playground and dog walkers and people eating lunch. It was great. and everything looked nice and pristine. So, great job park staff. Just um congratulations to our new inductees. Um well, and our old inductees. Very well deserved for all inductees.
You're an old one. Well, as as you all know, because of this board, uh my wife's uh bench was installed, and I've never been so proud in my life. Now, I did a little bit of uh a little bit of promoing. I I go to a big church, and at at last count, I had 360 followers on my uh on my on my deal there. And I actually took a picture of her her bench and the survey. So uh uh so I I will uh I will tell you that uh being parts of surveys before if you hadn't done it already, do it. Uh because Andy will tell you this. There's going to be somebody that says something that that they didn't think about that's really important and that's what it's all about anyway. So there you go. And again, thank you for the the bench. I appreciate it. I need a motion to adjurnn. Mr. Pike first, Mr. Bennett was second. All in favor say I. All oppose. We're out of here.
