Okay. Good evening, everybody. Good afternoon. Today is Monday, 10/06/2025. It is 05:06PM. This is the Council Economic Development Committee meeting, and Mr. Castro, can you

Moving on to public comment. This is reserved for anybody in the audience or online that would like to make a public comment on something on the agenda or not on the agenda. Seeing no comments, I'll move on to Yes, sir.

Public comment. Just proud to report that the Southland Mariachi Festival was a huge success, approximately double the numbers of of previous data. Positive comments all around from vendors, from the community, expanded offering this year, and looking forward to making some changes in future years that will make the event run more smoothly and draw more traffic to Hayward and plenty of terrific cross shopping, not only at the mall, but in the local businesses around us.

It was it was packed. Yep. And it was great weather. Oh, spectacular.

How many people? So our data shows 3,100, but that's only people that have their phones on location services. It doesn't count children without phones. You know, that type of stuff. JCPenney had 1,600 from the festival go in to their space. And we got reports of attendees just driving past and seeing the event and turning them around and coming back. Horses are showstoppers. Yeah. Great. It was great stuff, and everyone was very, very pleased with the outcome.

I will close the minutes, move on to the first action item, which is, the big tour, retail corridor tour of the Tennyson Road corridor. And I believe the person who kicked this off is our economic development officer, Paul Williams.

Thank you, mayor and committee members. Happy to bring this item that was requested by this committee a couple maybe six six, eight months ago to kick off what will be a what the economic development team hopes to be a series of corridor tours where we take this group out to different retail corridors to kinda see the lay of the land, talk to business owners, talk to property owners, kinda discuss what is going on and what are the key issues for some of these corridors. And, today's, tour will be narrated and curated by community progress specialist Javier Castro. So I'll turn it over to Javier to give you a rundown of what's gonna happen next week.

So on the screen and also in your guys' packet, we're gonna have few stops along. Before the meeting, we're explaining that we have a van that we're gonna all go into, and then we're gonna go through this curated stops together. And then after the presentation, we'll take questions, and we'll adjourn outside of this room. So after we leave, which will like, in twenty seconds, we're gonna close down everything, and we're headed our way. Great.
