Good morning everyone. I hope you're all doing well. Um I would like to call the meeting of the Hancock County Parks and Recreation Board to order. Today is April 14th, 2026 and the time is 10 o'clock. This meeting is being recorded and streamed live. By participating, you acknowledge that your image, voice, and comments may be captured and made available to the public. This meeting was properly noticed in accordance with Indiana Code 5-141.5. I myself, Miriam Morales, will call the role for attendance. Please acknowledge as I call your name. Heather Van Djk here. Kelly McLaren here. Jenny Shiveley here. Terry Gotchock here.
Let the record show that a quorum of board members is present. And um we are on to approval of the March 19th um 2026 minutes uh which were distributed to all members. Were there any corrections or discussions on the minutes? I'll make a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Thank you, Heather. Is there a second?
Second. Any opposed? Motion carries. The March 20th, 2026 minutes are approved as presented. the f financial report. Let me see. There it is. So, our current balance as of yesterday, April 15th, is $4,120. I wanted to note of record that um the financial report may at some time or another be behind uh if a recent transfer has not yet posted in the system. So when that happens, the updated amount will be reflected in the following month's report. But our most recent transfer was completed just yesterday. So that balance is um current. Are there any questions or discussions regarding this financial report? Okay. Down here got already it is Windows D. and we're going to go to So, our new business is our five-year master plan. And you'll see here, I'm going to click on this link on our web page. So, you would go to the Hancock County, Indiana web page, click on departments, click click on parks and recreation board, and then you will find our plan right here. It's 119 pages of pure enjoyment.
So, our final master plan was submitted to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources on April 2nd, and I've just showed you a link to the plan. The final submission um deadline was actually yesterday. Once approved by DNR, the plan will serve as the board's guiding document and will open additional grant funding opportunities, including the LWCF, which stands for the land, water, and conservation fund grant program. Um today I will be attending a webinar provided um an overview of the latest updates to the LWCF program and following that presentation the board will begin the application process once all of the updated requirements and application details are available for D from DNR. So, they're going to update it and then they're going to let us know when all those documents are um ready for application. This here is Oh, I don't Yes, I do. It's just technical difficulties.
Sorry.
Okay. Well, I apologize. I'm having technical difficulties. I'm going to try to open this one more time. So, I'm just going to quit and player There we go. I think this one's better. We'll play. Okay, we've got it moving. Anyway, I wanted to share this this drone footage of our current um park. This is not actually yesterday. This is a couple weeks ago, but um on March 30th, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources awarded the Highway Department and the Hancock County Parks and the in uh from the Indiana Trails Plan grant an amount of $376,496 toward our first county park, which is Ninstar Park. Out of the 32 applicants, um there were 32 applicants submitted statewide, only five projects received funding, and we are humbled and thrilled that Hancock County is among them. We sincerely thank DNR for recognizing the community need for this park and for supporting the opportunity to create a beautiful connected space for everyone to enjoy. So, as you can see on this meander here, the trail goes uh in between the trees and stops. This is all completed now. Um, so just continue watching that if you'd like, but I wanted to go over the park itself for those who aren't familiar. This 41acre park is located at 100 South just west of Sugar Creek. It's going to serve as a natural space for our growing communities. It supports our
vision in connecting neighborhoods, linking into the Pensy Trail system, and creating accessible green space for everyone. Um, as you can see, the park is currently open, but in a limited unfinished capacity with approximately only six parking spaces at this time. Um, those are available at the main entrance at 100 South at Sugar Creek. There is no vehicle entrance at 300 West. The only northern access point is a pedestrian extension via the Penzy Trail connection where signage indicates public park. Now, the north po portion of the property can be accessed by parking at 400 West and walking east into the site. Otherwise, please enter the park at the main entrance located at 100 South, which is way down here. That's where the entrance is. Um, construction is still ongoing. The recent wet weather has impacted development and asphalt plants are currently closed until late April. So, they're almost ready to open. The site also includes floodway and flood plane areas, requiring crews to be especially mindful of the conditions during this wet season. Once the asphalt uh plant production resumes, the final 3/4 mile long multi-use trail and 20 space parking lot will be completed. And in the meantime, the pedestrian trail extension has opened. Uh crews have been working hard this week to excavate and prepare the pedestrian entrance and the trail base. And this morning, I was given the keys to the park gate. So, yay.
Yes. Do you have any questions regarding Ninstar Park? How many parking spots you say there will be? There's currently six, right? Um this is the gravel base and then once we start um the environmental studies and get our our design done and all that, it will end up being 20 spaces. Are the six down off of 100 South? All the parking will be at 100 South at the main entrance. And that's where the gate that you That is where the gate that is where the gate is. Um you can actually get in and park and go beyond the gate to walk, but the gate is locked because it um there's easements into nine nine star the facility itself.
So if I go take my dog's walk this afternoon, no one's going to Nope. It is open. It is open. You will ask to be answering the three questions.
I highly recommend you go check it out. It's very very pretty. Um stay on the paths though because of the wet weather. Um I would caution um some mud areas that might be unsafe. So let me go back. We are done with the media. All right. So this week is um international dark sky week. It is a global celebration led by Dark Sky International. Recognizing the importance of protecting our night sky. As a new and growing park system, Hancock County Parks embraces this effort. We uh want to raise awareness about light pollution and its impact on our ability to see our stars as well as the effect on wildlife, unnecessary energy use and cost, and the health of our natural environments. This week is an opportunity for our community to appreciate the beauty of the night sky while also encouraging responsible outdoor lighting practices that reduce unnecessary glare and support safer and more efficient illumination. We have posted this presentation on our website to help share ways you can support and bring awareness to this important initiative. I want to sincerely thank Dr. Gary Stouter, MD, for providing the slide presentation that helps um express why these efforts matter, highlighting the importance of reducing unnecessary lighting to support migrating wildlife, again conserving energy and ensure that we can once again look up and see the stars. So, as Hancock County Parks continues to grow, we want to remain um committed to thoughtful park and public space design that preserves this natural beauty and strengthens the community connection and ensures that even at night, our parks
are places where people can look up and still see the stars because they're disappearing. You have social media. We're working on that. Mhm. I mean, that would be something great because I think more people would engage with social media than like going and looking for the website on the county. 100%. Yes. And Dusty is working really hard to help us implement that. Um, we just we'll get to that here in a minute. Actually, after this um discussion, we're going to our logo and we're going to talk about that branding. Um, let me just pull out of this.
Those are those are called acorn lighting and they're terrible. Terrible. Okay, so I didn't pick them for the record. It's when I moved in. I'm going to pull up another. Let's just pull these up. And that was a control. Oops, I went There we go. So, these are just some thoughts. Um, Charlie do any of these? Charlie did one. Okay.
So, we're beginning the process of creating our logo and we want to welcome feedback and direction from the board as we move forward to finalizing our branding. Um, the logo should be simple, elegant, timeless while creating a strong and recognizable placemaking identity for Hancock County Parks and Wreck. um our current logo. Do I need to flip back to that because you've all seen it? Nobody.
Okay. Uh it does work well. Um but we're seeking the updated design that better reflects our vision and purpose as a board and clearly represents the park system in Hancock County. So, as we consider the direction, many park systems incorporate a tree within their logo. So, we should discuss where we want to follow that traditional approach or intentionally distinguish our identity with something more unique to Hancock County. Um, we've explored several concepts and I'm sharing a few here for review. Um, but my goal today is for us to begin narrowing down our direction and move to a final selection. Um, this one's really busy, but it's got everything in it. Um, ultimately this logo again should create a visual identity that invites the community to explore Hancock County and enjoy its outdoor spaces and connect with places where families can make lasting memories or simply pause, breathe, and appreciate nature. Any board members have any?
I like that one. I kind of like it, too. And it's it's um it says it all really, right? Um I have this in color. I just didn't put it in color here. If you like me to, I can pull that up because that's got the like wheat that's in the county logo. It's got the courthouse that kind of I don't like the ones that just say Hancock County Parks because there are Hancock counties everywhere. Yes. You know, so that doesn't really I'm going to share my Canva so you can see that one. The Hancock Indiana parks. I don't call from every Hancock County.
Right. Yeah. Their escrow account. Oh, I like it better in black and white. Yeah. I like I like when it's one or two colors. That way we can put it on a car window or the side of a car or a t-shirt or Yeah. When it's a lot of color. That's Yeah. Well, I think that it makes it versatile because even if we did it in this color on some things, we can still change it up. I mean, we Yeah, the colors. Let me see. I find for your banner on Facebook, but on the side of a truck, I think that's a lot. Yeah.
Um I like that tree better than the the first tree you had um on the first logo. Mhm. Um I was uh told by the ladies in the office that the hikers with the backpack seem a little extreme for a Hancock County Park. We're not a lot of people backpacking through and those and Yeah. I didn't like those p I didn't like the hikers at all. Yeah. Yeah. So, let me show you something else here. Over here. Um this is too much. But the reason I put them all on there was to say, "Oh, we could have a guy with a dog or we could have a family walking or we could have runners." But was this to me looks like all trail
the one in the middle the most. This came from organic robot. That one did. I don't I I don't know. Something about the graphic of those hikers. I don't know. It looks military to me. I don't like it. I agree. But I do love the Eagles. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. And I don't know how we can get the eagles into this unless we put them maybe somewhere over in this corner. I don't know. I mean, I know we have a lot of eagles, but I don't think eagles are very unique anymore. I agree. I So, I don't think I don't think they're necessary. That one's got enough. Yeah. Think it would be overkill. Yeah,
potentially. Here was another concept of kiddos playing with trees and eagles and just clean and simple. But again, I mean, I feel like it's missing the county h wheat. I mean, well, I just feel like that's not really I mean, to me, that looks playground. That's too sparse,
you know, and it's like that's not what it's going to be. I mean, at least to begin with. And then here is kind of like a takeoff from the Hendricks County that we saw at the foundation park lunchon except for theirs was just a bright white or bright black. They theirs comes in all different colors which you could simply do with this logo too. Um I don't know that I would change the colors of the eagles to purple but whole logo could be changed. Um anyway I agree on the backpacks. It was more of um exploring Hancock County idea. It It seems like more of like a Boy Scout camp where you're going to go for a weekend and hike through, you know, New Mexico
or that you know that you've got some terrain to get to transfers. And this one my daughter helped with, she's a 3D animator, so she's able to to do um the transparent and flip the colors to make it uh specific for certain backgrounds. So, just keep that in mind. I'm trying to save the county money by us doing it ourself, right? Rather than hiring it out. I like that circle. I think all the stuff in the middle is too busy, but I would Yes. If that tree if that were smaller. Yeah. You know, like I mean I don't mind the courthouse being like the background, but like that tree is so big
that if it were shrunk a little bit, you know, with the prominent color. I I like that one a lot. I like the plain the planer tree from the one that had the weed in it. But that one's kind of got like people in it. You know, those are people in the middle of that and I do like that. Mhm. Cuz it's teamwork. It's But I think that tree could be smaller. I think the roots are crazy and the roots are crazy. They're crazy big. Yeah. Here was another concept. I kind of like that one, too. And this one can be done in lots of different colors. Um, it can be that, you know, let me just see if I've got another. So, that's the other one where it's a back backdrop.
I like that a lot. Then here's another of just the white. So, this one's got a thumbs up. This one is way offkilter. It could be fixed a little, but it's just it's Yeah, that's I don't like the bottom here. Well, that's like hanging out in space. It is weird. It is. It is. Um, again, we can use colors.
Um, but I agree. I I do like this one will look good on shirts. It's um it identifies the courthouse. It's even though the courthouse isn't really a park, it's establishing the location because that's actually a photograph of the park. I mean of the courthouse. That is our courthouse. Um so, but this this can be changed to different colors. Um let me see if I've got Canva up still. Um,
Riley was walking a trail with a backpack. I have walked many trails with backpacks, but usually it's for like a survival event or something.
Yeah. So, like the duo tones um on the courthouse here can be changed up. I mean you can change the whole every single thing has an item that can be changed and the colors can be modified. So see how that we can make it whatever we want to if this is the one you guys like. So I do think we need to add Indiana. I do I do agree that there's a lot of Hancock counties out there. I once bought school supplies for the wrong city.
That's easy to do because like you said there are several Hancock counties. Um and I'm wondering if we could maybe incorporate something from the Indiana State website. Uh maybe they have I in after county and call it a day. Yeah. Yeah. I wouldn't get too too deep into it. Okay. I thought we could just use some sort of a or whatnot. I I prefer the less busy Mhm. versions. And I did like the walking on the trail, but I I was the girls in the office upstairs. Like the the backpacks seem a little extreme for a Hancock County. This is what we have now. Park.
This was a super quick my first week of becoming a parks and recck person for the county. I had to come up with something and exploring Hancock County was the only thing I could think of uh other than what was the other one. I think that enhancing Hancock County fine for like a a theme but not the logo for the whole park.
Right. Okay. So should we I I you know there seems to be a lot of hands in the logo making process and um I think we should just keep it to the to our group. Then once we come up with our top say three or four then we can see if the commissioners are on board because you know even though it's our board they still are our governing body and we want to make sure that they are happy with what is decided. So that's going to be the plan. But I do like this one.
This one looks really great. Um, wonder how we would incorporate Indiana on this. Maybe we could just put it down under the roots. No, I would just put it at the top. At the top where it says Hancock County and then just put in
our email address. I have to find the silly thing now. Please hold. Comma. That what you were thinking? That's what I'm thinking.
Yep. Yep. I feel like if you guys see the bottom of the courthouse here, I need to do something with those lines. Maybe there's a way I can um I could possibly add See, like this I added a root. See how I did that? Because the root was I needed it to kind of cover up this weird line here. So, we shall play around with this base of the courthouse. Or maybe we can do something with these bricks down here to make it smoother if that makes sense.
Okay. All right. What do we need now? Those look great, by the way. Those are Say that again, Kelly. Some good options. Yeah.
Yes. Yes. Okay. So, on to old business. Get out of these. We are. Okay. So, I'm going to give a update on the mental health bench project. Um, the project was introduced at the last board of commissioners meeting along with suggested locations for each bench and the commissioners requested that we obtain pricing for concrete pads and hardware that would be needed to secure the benches prior to approving the order. Um, so I if I could get some board help, that'd be great to um maybe gather some estimates for concrete pads. Um we we want them buted right up against the side of any trail. Um even in the park system so there's only three sides for maintenance to have to cut grass. That'll be easier on our maintenance guys to do that. Um I did notice that Greenfield has theirs anchored basically with a a long stake anchor right into the ground. It's pretty simple. It's got a cable on it. The benches are not too heavy, so really anybody could pro, you know, walk away with them. So that's why we want them anchored. Any suggestions on those
out to gosh at parks and find out how much there's cost and where? Yeah, but I mean like wouldn't the county be able to like do that concrete and stuff probably as inexpensively as a private contractor? I was told that we need to get we need to pay. Yeah. But you know, whoever. But I mean, I would feel like the county ought to be able to give you like once you know the dimensions and what you're I mean, they ought to be able to give you a price. Um Corey, the maintenance facility guy, said that he uses a couple of people that he referred me to.
Um I don't know that the highway would be able to do the installation based off of the road work that they're got going. focus on. So eventually when when we become our own department, we're going to have to make sure that we're able to navigate these steps anyway. Not that, you know, not really a point here, but um I'm happy to reach out to Josh at the parks and find out like they used and what their dimensions are. Okay. That at least that's a starting point. Yeah. And they didn't use any concrete pad for theirs. They simply
staked them to the ground. them right into the ground with a ground anchor. Now, the highway does have a truck that has a ground anchor spear tool that goes deep into the ground that we could connect these to cables, but I believe that the commissioners wanted concrete pads to make it so they didn't have to like weed around them. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, it it would save maintenance time and it just looks cosmetically great,
you know, and supporting our veterans and anyone with a mental health issue. So, um yeah, once all the information is completed, then I can take that back to the board of commissioners for review and then they'll they'll um probably give approval to order the 10 benches or more depending on, you know, we've we've got plenty of locations, but I found that one of the guys that I did talk to about concrete pads, they um didn't want to drive just up to Shirley for two, if that makes sense. So that's a discussion maybe with Shirley to say, "Hey, do you have a crew up here that could do two pads for us?" So we can even ask them.
I sent Stan that link, but did you hear back from him in the It would make sense if you know if a bunch of theunities were doing at one time worked on it together and I love that for volume. But he was pretty interested. Okay, let me um I'll reach back out to Stan and see where he's at. I think there's a visionary meeting coming up that he attends as well. So, I would just see Okay. what his thoughts are on that? Thank you. Yeah. Um any more questions about the benches?
All right, we're going to move on to the Ignite Grant. town of Shirley. So, the parks and recreation board received a $50,000 Ignite grant from the Community Foundation of Hancock County, and the project supports this multi-use trail connection. It's 1,800 ft long. It's from Henry County that goes into Hancock County, extending across the frontage of the historic Jane Ross Reeves Octagon House in Shirley. So that ground uh breaking began on March 23rd and the trail will feature some photooluminescent aggregate and a large fun fact silver dollar coins embedded in those in the path. So because it's going to be highlighting the um history of the octagon house, a memo was sent out to the octagon house to the town of Shirley and the Shirley community of visionaries requesting 10 taglines for the asphalt silver dollar artwork in your packet. Um, let me see if I have I don't know that I included that in this. Nope, that's the lighting. Um, I can pull it up though. I know I've got a lot on my computer. I apologize. So,
so what is the connection between silver dollars and octane Ross Reeves saved $2,300 of silver dollars in a shoe box. Okay.
And when she did that, she was able to buy this unique home. And then there were seven men uh that didn't want it to be torn down. They were it was out in Willow Branch. There's actually a documentary on this house online that you can watch the seven men move the octagon house across from Willow Branch to where it sits now in in Shirley. And one of the founding um men is is Dennis um that he was with us at the Shovel Ready. Um he was one of the the men that helped save the octagon house. But um here were some of the fun.
You know, we've got to have they're 4 foot diameter. Um they'll be stamps. They'll look like silver dollars and they will have taglines in the silver dollars. So when um you know walkers or whomever are walking across the historic octagon house trail in front of it um it'll save it'll say some certain sayings. So we have to be cognizant also of a small amount of words. Yeah. Yeah.
Um because that'll cost a little extra depending on how long the sentence are sentences are. But um we've got different um like here's preservation and community movement and railroad era um fun creative engagement and history and identity and I did get a couple responses actually this morning. Oh nice.
So we're gathering those responses from them and everything that's on this list is just the history of the house. And then I also gave them a write-in section that if they have their own they you know it's their town, it's their octagon house, if they have their own selection um to put it in here. So I'm really um curious to see what they come up with. So I have a question. Yeah. Just um so was a house already built and she paid the 2300 coins for it or you can answer. Did was she able to contract the house to be built because she had
her sons found the plans and Sears and Robux? Okay. Okay. I just wondered because it like some of these were like, you know, built, you know, one and I'm like, well, was the house already there? Okay. All right. Makes sense. So, the house was there when they moved it. It was 90 tons. No, I know when they moved it, but I'm just saying like, you know, you're saying you like, you know, oh, she saved the 23 coins and, you know, um, you know, was able to buy the house and it's like, did she build the house or did she buy the house? Was it the like the the fixtures they ordered from the catalog and then the plans are in there? So, they had to like use their own wood from the farm. Oh, with like So, like they ordered like I don't know the nuts, the handles, the things that aren't the kit. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Jenny, did you have something? No, I think that's fascinating that her you know, it's it's a really Yeah. wonderful story that I think everyone should go and learn about at the Octagon House when they're open. I mean, they're happy to tell you the whole shebang.
But it's also a documentary on it. And there's 16 rooms in the house and at Christmas time they really decorate it um inside and outside. It it looks fabulous. And I love the idea of now we've got a trail that is going to go across the frontage and they can light that trail up at Christmas with more Christmas trees and continue onto the county property and we can do our own um assistance there of doing lighting and and things like that for Christmas. So that'll be fun stuff for Hall. So yeah, I got 10 taglines this morning. I just don't have them with me. Um, but we're going to compile that list together and then we will uh get with Global Asphalt who gave estimates during our application uh for the the grant uh to see if they can stamp those on the trail once the trail is complete.
So, let's see. Oh, um I'm going to go on to So this we are not there yet back to the Yeah. Okay. So I am going to open the board discussion up. But before I open the floor, I wanted to remind everyone that I'm attending the executive development program at Indiana University School of Public Health from April 19th through the 22nd. It's a leadership program. It's designed for parks and recreation professionals across Indiana. And they'll be having a silent auction. And we have a couple of donations. This is just one of the baskets so far. Um, so let me see if I can I'm not real good at this whole picture thing here. Please hold. I wanted to kind of show you the stem here. These little things are bee water feeders. Um, so we've got I I added one of the mushrooms. I went back to
I added a mushroom. Um, let me go back one more. Yeah, let me just do this. So, there's a couple take a hike koozies. Um there's the chocolates from the Greenfield um chocolate, what's it called? Greenfield chocolates. Um we've got a couple bottles of wine. This right here was from Ella Jun. Um then I found these really awesome glasses. These are packable wine glasses
that I got from Bells and the stems are inside each glass. So that's what that is in there. I think that's really cool. And then I went and I got some decorative, you know, um, papers and stuff. And then you can see them chocolate here. And and then there's a little bracelet, a sunflowers, um, um, pollinating seeds. Then your your cooling towel. Heather, thank you for donating that. And then if you look here, I put the your bottle right here. What is that called again? Okala. Aala. Aala water bottles. They look fantastic.
So hopefully that plenty of people will bid on this basket. I don't have um the other one done yet. I plan on finishing it tomorrow. So because we had two gym bags, we had two water bottles, we had two uh Arctic uh tumblers, we had two of all these twos, beach balls. We'll probably end up calling it like ready set two. And that'll be, you know, it's got Yeah. two beach balls, two sunglasses. We put a two of everything in there and when I'll stuff it full of, you know, all this paper that I got, and and then I've got some ribbons and everything. Kind of make it look fun. But I'm going to finish that tomorrow. So, do you like the way our basket looks? Very cool. Very nice.
Oh, and then Jenny, she brought all these really cute bee things. Be thanks. This is a um affirmation bee. And he's he should be leaning backwards, but he fell forward. Yeah. But he um What does it say? Something like be your best today or Yeah. be your best today and or something like that. God, I mean, he's holding a little sign. Yeah. You know, so that he can be your affirmation. This is a pinky ring. It's really cool. It's an owl. Owl from Ellunes. So, anyway, I hope we represent our our um county. Um Cumberland sent in um Fanny Pack and that was really nice. So, anyway, I just wanted to share that with you.
Fun. That's kind of what it looks like far back, but you still can't see the top because it's really tall. Um, I'll probably have to take it down when I transport it. But yeah, and that's just one of two. So, um, very creative.
Thanks. Oh, also on that I'm going to be preparing a uh list of items with the decorative font and it'll it'll be attached to the long stem of of the bee the watering bee stake and it'll list everything in in there so when the walker buys at the silent auction can read what's in there if they don't happen to see it because it's busy. So, any questions about the EDP at IU or any of that? Okay. Does does anybody have any board discussion items that are not on the agenda they want to talk about? No, ma'am.
Natada.
All right. Well, I am going to move on to the action items and um I wanted to go over a couple of responsibilities real quick. So um this is about secretary and a treasurer. The secretary is responsible for keeping accurate meeting minutes, maintaining records and helping ensure the board documents are organized and accessible. And um I've just been keeping all of those things and items in my office and happy to continue that with help. Um um since the president actually reviews and oversees the agenda before it goes out and all those things, um those are the responsibilities of that. And then since we do have our impact fee um that is been has been implemented since February 5th, the treasur is going to be responsible for overseeing financial matters including reviewing the budgets, monitoring any our expenses and helping just ensure transparency, accountability of our finances. So and again this role works directly with the board president who reviews and oversees those responsibilities. So, I'm going to ask if um what I was going to say here. I'm so sorry. Um Oh, I was going to tell you the overview of how that actual process to nominate and vote works. So, I will guide the nominations for the positions and the board members may nominate themselves or another person. Um after the nominations are closed we can hold a vote a voice vote by saying I or nay and the nominee with the majority of the votes will be elected. We'll follow this process for both secretary and treasurer and I can move to now to us to nominate and if um like I said if you feel uh like nominating yourself feel free to do
so since there's only four of you. Um, are there any nominations for secretary?
When you say take meeting minutes, you're meaning of this meeting, right? It's not hard. And at this meeting, I've been doing them. It's I basically just follow the agenda and if we take any votes, I add that. I'm very also watch it back on YouTube if you forgot what someone said or what someone's last name was or
I'm help I would be helpful to ask someone to come and I can show you an easy way to do minutes and to do and I have to work with you on the agenda anyway whoever it is because um it's you know I usually base my scripts that I I need to guide me through these meetings so I make sure I don't miss anything um off the agenda. So, um, if there's no nominations at this time, I can declare nominations for secretary closed and we can continue on with the nomination for treasurer if we're not ready. If you still need to ponder that, we can do that. Um, Jenny, would you be willing to do that? I would love to nominate you if you'd be willing to do it.
I will second that nomination if you're interested in that nomination. Wow. Um, I I I am going to be on the ballot this year as a delegate, but I need to ponder this and I probably would want to come in and see. Okay. You um see how you the process of how you do do this. Is it all written down, Miriam? All there's templates. Yeah, I have templates. A good template. And it sounds to me based off of what Dusty mentioned earlier regarding ADA compliance now um for our agendas um that is coming up in um on the 24th.
Um there's a lot to learn there. So, I would definitely be working one-on-one to make sure that the agenda and the minutes are correct uh and ADA compliant. So, I will definitely have to do that. But, um since that, I will go ahead and declare nominations for secretary closed and we'll continue on with the nomination for treasurer unless you if you still want to ponder because I'm I'm okay with that. has to think about. Maybe when you get back from your conference, we would do it at the next We would do it at the next board meeting. Is anyone uh thinking about being interested in being treasurer?
No. Everyone's like, "No." Okay. We don't have a lot right now. You'll be setting the the precedent and you'll be setting the groundb and as you can see at um our treasurer report, I'm going to bring it right back up. I would have to create this for you. Um, and at this time we don't have any expenses, right? Uh, we also have to be cognizant that our impact fees have uh boundaries. they, you know, they have specific I I have um spoken to um Mary Bmer are
about the reports that have to be turned in in regards to our money and there is no um specific format like we can create our own um Excel spreadsheet if we want. We don't have to use like a county program because it would all go from her into G what everyone else is using. We can blaze our own trail
and I can share um my spreadsheet that I've already started. Um but it can totally be wiped and used by someone else as well. But these are the reports I would give the treasurer. Um and then um any any grants that we end up getting in the future also um I would like the treasur's help to navigate that. as well. So, um, it's kind of a joint treasure. I have a question for Dusty. Yes.
Um, so currently all of our files are on the county server because both and I are both county employees and have access to that. What is the precedent if we have someone not a county employee that needs access like our minutes and our towards
believe we discussed um having county emails for secretary for treasurer not for the specific members but for specific seats. That way if those members change the emails can be yeah it stays the same and we have that retention. Our township trustees have that stationary email address and with the emails I believe comes the one drive. Is that correct? Do you know? Can you find out? Okay. Okay. That would be I'll find out for you. That would be great. Thank you very much sir.
Okay. So it sounds to me like we all just need to ponder and we can table this until and continue this at the next meeting. So I will go ahead and close nomination for also the um treasurer that works for everyone. Okay. All right. Is there any other um action items that anybody wants to discuss that we might need to put on our agenda next time? No, ma'am.
Okay. So, I am going to open the public discussion, but before we open the floor to the public, I'd like to take a moment to share the uh a community awareness announcement. um on behalf of Danny's Dreams. They're going to be hosting an Earth Day event on April 21st that's coming up. That will be at the Sugar Creek Park that's in New. It's from 4 to 6. It's going to be a great opportunity for the community members to come together in celebration of Earth Day and support local environmental awareness efforts. So for more information, you can visit danny'sdreamscorp.org. It is right here, danc.org. Um, or mail email uh Donna Griffins dg griffins96@gmail.com and this information is found on the agenda online and um is there anyone from the public got one today uh who'd like to address the board?
You have anything any news for us? Nothing for us, Paul. No worries. Okay. All right. Well, our next uh meeting is going to be scheduled for May 21st at 10 a.m. Are there any further questions, comments, or could I have a motion to adjurnn? I'll make a motion to adjurnn at 10:49 a.m. Second. Thank you, Kelly. All right. Thank you all. Is anyone opposed to adjourning? Got that. Okay, we are adjourned.
