I'd like to call to order the first budget hearing for the Golden Isle Safe Neighborhood District Board of Directors. Today is Monday, September 14th. Thank you, Madam Clerk. Before we have a moment of silence, I'd like to, I mean, before we have the pledge, I'd like to induct a moment of silent prayer. Our prayers go out to Gloria Stoner, a long-time pioneer as well as a dedicated public servant that worked in the schools, a bus driver in our community for years. We pray for her health. We also pray for the Middle East. We call for peace, also for Ukraine. We call to mind all our armed forces who are in harm's way, protecting individuals in harm's way. I just wanted to give a shout out to Golden Owls. I just hope you guys continue to get what you guys supposed to get. Taxpayers, your money, your community, thank you.

Second speakers, Ms. Dalia Rodriguez.

Good evening, board members. My name is Dalia Rodriguez and I'm speaking today because neighborhood safety must be taken seriously. The crosswalk delays affected not just the main corridors but also the flow of traffic into residential areas. When projects drag on for months, it increases risk for pedestrians and cyclists. The recent hit and run at Hallandale Beach Boulevard, East and Southeast 4th Avenue shows how dangerous our intersections have become. Drivers spread speed through the residential corridors to avoid Main Street traffic. And I'm asking the district to support traffic calming measures, entering neighborhood zones, improved lighting and signage, and coordination with HPD for targeted enforcement. Residents deserve safe access to their homes and parks. Thank you.

thank you okay um board business item 5a resolution the chair and board of directors the golden isle safe neighborhood district adopting a tentative ad valorem tax millage rate for the 2026 2027 year fiscal year providing for an effective date this is brought forward by Staff and budget. Thank you very much Okay, I believe the city clerk has distributed a script for us to follow thank you very much and The tentative millage rate for consideration by the Golden Isle Safe Neighborhood District Board is 1.0934 mills, representing a 2.87% increase over the rollback rate of 10629 mills. The purpose of the increase is continued funding of the objectives of the district as stated in our district plan.
