City Council - Regular Meeting

Always like later years didn't get around all that well. Alrighty, we are at that time and looks like the weather's holding out just a little bit, so I think everybody is here that needs to be here, so we're going to go ahead and start the meeting this evening. Thank you for joining us this evening. This is a regularly called and convened city council meeting, Greer City Council meeting, this evening, August the 11th, 2026. I've been I'd like to ask Councilman Coriam Booker, if he would, to lead us in a pledge of allegiance followed by the invocation. If you'd like to join us, please stand. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands,

Let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father God, we thank you for this day. We thank you for this time to be able to come together to do the bidding of this city, Father. Lord, we ask you just to... Rest upon us, God, to give us the wisdom and the knowledge to make decisions that are fair and equitable to everyone in this wonderful city. Lord, we ask you as we're going through an election, special primary election today, we ask you for your will to be done. for us to be represented as you would see fit, Father. Lord, we ask you just continue to bless South Carolina, continue to bless this city, and it's in your name we do pray.

Amen.

With that then, council, let's move to the minutes. We have the packet from July the 28th. Minutes are contained there. I'll entertain a motion we receive. So moved.

Yes. We have a special recognition this evening, and I mean that in the most sincerest of ways. as Mr. Young. You'll come up front, please, sir. I don't think it's hungry.

This is a certificate of appreciation. And that hardly scratches the surface of what the debt we owe you. This has been quite a journey over the last, how many years? Eight years. Eight years. And this is, you know, six of those you've been leading the charge, so to speak. in our golf course, and this has been a real trial by fire in some regards. And we really appreciate the fact that you have worked with our recreation department A crew of folks out there that have dedicated themselves to that facility and to all those that have taken a great opportunity and turned it in.
