We are back in session. The time is 7:20 and we will resume our agenda with item number two, consideration of approving resolution 2026-11, authorizing the city attorney with the approval of the city manager and mayor to take any reasonable legal action necessary to enforce the annexation of the six mile ranch into Grsville City. Any council members have any questions? other concerns they'd like to address. So, I would point your attention to the uh the reporting requirements. If you could scroll down a little bit on the the resolution there, there's some specific reporting requirements that are going to be involved in the enforcement of the six mile annexation. Um, little bit further down. There we go. So, the city manager and city attorney shall provide regular updates to city council regarding actions taken pursuant to this resolution, including a summary of any legal proceedings initiated or defended, the status of any settlement negotiations, expenditures incurred or anticipated, any significant developments affecting the annexation process, and recommendations for additional action by the city council if necessary. So this is um you know where we say take reasonable action to to enforce the annexation. Um you know there's there's you know some some boundaries there and you'll you'll still be able to um you know be apprised of of what's going on and certainly object to anything that you think should should be changed. Um but what we're looking to do is just take reasonable actions to enforce um

1:56 – 2:34Speaker 1

what's what's already been decided by previous councils um and and is now no longer the the subject of any stay or or and and is no longer enjoined by any court uh from proceeding as as uh as as previously approved in the the ordinance uh 2022. So, but re reasonable action could include Oh, wait.

2:35 – 4:04Speaker 1

Reasonable action could include affirmative filings. It could include acts to to to defend. Um, and it it could include hiring private counsel. could include um settlement negotiations if they become um if if if those become um palatable or even offered. Um but there's there's a number of things that that probably need to take place in order for us to enforce the the annexation. And in order to do that, uh we we may need to act quickly. we we may need to uh move forward um in between meetings and uh with without having to call special sessions every time a a a new filing needs to occur. We would uh like some some latitude. Um, we we we have latitude as as a city attorney to to move forward reasonably, but we'd like some affirmative confirmation from this council to to uh give us some uh [clears throat] um just some additional uh access to to to use the the reasonable enforcement methods for the the annexation. Does anybody have any further discussion or would anybody like to make a motion?

4:09 – 4:52Speaker 1

Yeah, I don't have anything additionally. It just seems like this has been signed. know prior councils have had to to deal with this specifically and it just seems like we're we're here again. Um so I don't have anything additionally. If if anyone doesn't have any other comments, I'll make a motion. We move to approve resolution 202611 uh authorizing the city attorney with the approval of the city manager and mayor to take all reasonable legal action necessary to enforce the annexation of Six Mile Ranch into Gransville City. We have a motion by council member Thomas, excuse me. [clears throat] Is there a second?

4:51 – 5:22Speaker 1

I'll second the motion. A second by council member Skinner. All in favor? I I motion passes. Thank you. That concludes our special meeting. I need a motion to adjurnn. I make a motion to adjurnn. Motion by council member Williams and a second by council member Dalton. All in favor? I. Good work everybody.
